ASTROS POSTCAST: Pathetic Showing From Framber Valdez And The Houston Astros In Loss To Yankees
This is the Astros Post Cast, your instant game reaction for the Houston Astros, part of the Locked On podcast network, your team every day. [Music] Well, there’s no other word for tonight other than pathetic. Absolute joke that the Astros went out there and played as poorly as they did. Absolute joke that their starting pitcher went out there and was as bad as he was, especially against left-handed pitching. An absolute joke the way that this team continues to play with absolutely zero consistency. and we keep having to come on here and talk about bad games way too often than not. Hello and welcome to the Locked on Astros postcast. Do I have anything positive for you tonight? The big fat answer to that is no. That’s what the Astros have forced us into tonight. Tonight’s episode’s brought to you by FanDuel football season. It’s here. Thank goodness. Visit visit the FanDuel app today and start planning your futures bets now. Alrighty. What’s the number one thing from this one that you’re going to be talking about? This is what you’ll be talking about. Well, you got plenty of baseball left still in this season to go ahead and finish it off. But I can tell you this, they’re not going to win a lot of games between now and the end of the regular season if they don’t hit the baseball. Now, look, this is one of those nights that I always have to remind myself as well. Now, I’m not excusing them by any means. I’m just acknowledging for anybody that’s got the ear wax in. I’m acknowledging the fact that Max Freed’s been one of the best pitchers in the American League this year. Now, the Astros did tag him last time they saw him in New York. So, I like probably all of you was feeling pretty good coming into this one tonight. Hey, you know, they got to him last time. They’re going with a lineup that’s filled with right-handed hitters tonight. The Astros when they get a chance to play left-handed pitching, which has been kind of rare. There’s been a little bit more as the season’s moved on because they balanced the lineup out a little bit, but you know, they’ve done pretty well against lefties when they face lefties this year. I I expected a better night. Instead, I got another bad night from Pñena. Kareah still in his funk. Altuve, big fat nothing. Christian Walker overall, nothing. Uh Yiner Diaz, he drives in the only run of the game, but outside of that, nothing. Reus nothing. Smith nothing. Dubon nothing. Salazar nothing. I say nothing. A lot of those guys had hits. I mean the Astros had five hits. Yay. Five hits. Every one of them was a single and they walked three times. So they had five singles and three walks. Guess what you’re not going to do when you have five singles and three walks? You’re not going to win. It was all moot point though. From was terrible. From came out and was absolutely terrible. But the sticking point to all this is that the Astros continue to go out there and have nights like this where the offense looks like absolute I mean, let’s put it let’s put it let’s put it how it is. It looks like doodoo. Like I I I hate I hate having to be negative. I hate having to be upset with the way they’re playing. That’s just the reality of it when you go out and do this. And these are important games against an important team. This team is also on the wild card hunt. And I don’t want to freak you out too much, but you know, good news is tonight the Mariners lost. So the Astros lead over Seattle remains three games. But I’m telling you right now at this moment, the Rangers are about to they’re up by one. Come on, Arizona. The Angels The Rangers might be winning their seventh game in a row tonight. The Rangers are going to pass up Seattle. The Rangers going to be on your heels. The Rangers, a team that was, have you looked at what they’ve done lately? They’ve scored a ton of runs. They couldn’t score any not a ton of they they scored more runs than the Astros than the Mariners now on the season. The Rangers, or excuse me, not the Mariners, but they’re creeping up on the Mariners. They’ve scored more runs than the Astros now have this season. And forever, the Rangers offense was just absolutely abysmal in terms of run score. They got a plus 94 run differential. Astros are barely at 20 or they’re not. I don’t even know if this is updated for tonight. 76 and 63 on the season. Now, this isn’t updated yet. So, the Astros lost by five, six tonight. So, the Astros run differential on the season. Now, it’s down to 14 plus 14. By far the worst of any division leader in baseball. The American League West. Who wants it? That’s the billboard because apparently nobody. Oh man, it’s crazy. Absolutely crazy. I just uh I don’t know, man. They got a lot of time to buy me all the way in. They can do something crazy in the postseason. I still think they’ll get there. I still think they’ll find a way to win the division. I say that and I probably shouldn’t in all honesty. They’ve got, you know, what do they got left? They got the they got the Mariners series at the end of the season uh here and they’ve got three more with Texas actually. Excuse me. Six more six games with the Rangers. Buddy, I don’t know. They better they better find some sort of potion or something real quick to get the bats going. But even if they get there at this point, like right now, is anything that they’re doing inspiring you to think that this is a team that’s dangerous in October? Absolutely not. And if you’re telling yourself that they are, then I think that you’re fooling yourself and you got to stop drinking the Kool-Aid for just a second. And I want to drink the Kool-Aid. Trust me, I want to be Mr. Superfan. I want to be captain. This is Everything’s awesome right now. Everything’s not awesome at all. Not one bit. and one of the guys that they need to go out there and do his thing and you know be a staff ace every time that he goes out on top of the other staff ace is Ron Bvaldez and you’re not getting that right now. Ron Ber Valdez has no doubt about it cost himself some money in the back half of the season. Is the pressure on? Is he feeling it? I don’t know. But 12-8 now 34. It’s not like he’s had a bad year overall. Like I think I think we we get that two twist. I’ve talked about it before. He gets a dumb amount of hate. I don’t understand it for a guy that literally started a a World Series clinching game. I mean, just simple as that. But he has not fared well overall in some outings of late. I mean, you just go back start to his month of August. His first start in the month of August, six six innings, uh, six runs, five earned. Next outing against the Yankees, five and two/3, four earned. Following outing was against the Orioles, 6 and 2/3, four runs, three earned. Then against Detroit, five innings, seven earned. Had a really good one against the Rockies in his last one, but that was the Rockies in all fairness. And then tonight, five innings against the Yankees and six runs. That month of August, he had an erra of 564. And so far in the month of September, 1080. He is after having er here’s his RAS per month to start the year. Uh, April was 497, May 236, J uh June 174, July 216, and then like I said, 564 across five starts last month and six runs in his five innings tonight against the Yankees. I mean, in all honesty, if the Astros got to the postseason tomorrow, not tomorrow, you probably by the end of the by the end of September and they get to the postseason and let’s say they’re they’re going to be even if they win the division, they’re going to be playing that wild card round. Hell, maybe they’re a wild card team. Maybe they’re going on the road. If his trend continues, trend, he you can’t start him game two. I don’t care what he’s done. You got to start somebody else if somebody else pitches better than him down the stretch. cuz right now you cannot count on that man at all. And he’s cost himself money in years from whoever is going to pay him after this off season. It won’t be the Astros. It was never going to be the Astros. The Astros don’t pay people. It was not a fromper thing. It was the Astros don’t pay people thing. All right, let’s talk about how you have to get past this one. We’ll do that next here in the Lockown Astros post. They got to play two more games in this series which absolutely stinks. It’d be great to say, “Oh, just go shake this one off.” But I think that’s just ignoring the things that have been going on with this club of late. They’re just they’re they are not they’re not in a good place offensively. There is no consistency. They’re in a lot of funks. Now look, as I always tell you, what goes up will come down. In baseball, especially those guys that slump will peak back up, just like the guys that peak up will go back down at some point. It is inevitable in this sport. It always happens. And that is something that is going to happen to this baseball team again here very soon where they’ll probably start playing better baseball. They’ll start doing things that look like a functioning team. But the thing that you have to hope is that they don’t wait too long. Like I mentioned, you’re not as worried at the moment with the Mariners because the Mariners cannot win a baseball game on the road. I saw a thing or stat earlier. I think they’ve lost 10 of their last 12 now away from home. Um and then the Rangers right now are scorching hot. They’re getting the benefit of playing a very bad Arizona Diamondbacks team this weekend. But facts of the facts, you cannot those objects in the rearview mirror are closer than they appear because there’s 20 I think it’s 23 games left on the season. 23 and you have to get your head out your backside. Start playing Astros baseball and that starts the next two days. Like simply as it gets, they have to find a way to win the next two games. They can’t lose them. Jason Alexander goes tomorrow for the Astros. He’s been pretty exceptional. Will Warren will go for uh the Yankees. Of course, you’re always a little bit worried with a guy like Alexander in a matchup like the Yankees cuz they got so many guys that can hit the ball over the fence and Chisel took him deep twice tonight. Of course, you know about Stanton Judge. I mean, in that ballpark, I don’t love the Alexander matchup against the Yankees tomorrow night. So, I’m hopeful that that goes a little bit better than that, but I do not love that matchup one bit. And then they’ll finish it up on Thursday um with Christian Javier up against Carlos Rodon. Hey, I have to give this out tonight. This is the locked on player of the game. Guess who I’m giving it to? Absolutely nobody. I just wanted to play it so I could emphasize that you guys all stunk tonight. And I’m not giving it to a single one of you because not one of you deserve the player of the game award. Sorry. I’m just still mad about it. giving up opposite field home runs to lefties, too. From been That’s the other thing with From He’s not been getting lefties out this season like he typically does, which is crazy. Absolutely crazy. Well, when it ends tomorrow night, hopefully it’s a good result. Come right back here to this channel and join this show, the Locked on Astros post, where we will break it down as soon as the game finishes. Like within seconds of the game finishing, we’re right here talking about it. What is hopefully a victory for your Astros. Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday night, I suppose. Get some sleep. Try to forget about it. Hope that the baseball team washes it and figures it out tomorrow. We’ll talk after game two of the series. Locked on Astros.
The Houston Astros bats reverted to the bad and Framber Valdez had a horrible outing as they lost to the New York Yankees. Michael Connor breaks it down on the Locked On Astros Postcast.

Framber shit the bed. SMH
Tomorrow is another day. Seattle lost and we have yet another day to get out of hitting slump. Still in first.
Hope Framber gets some tough love for his actions after the grand slam.
