Apologetic Valdez: Pitch that hit Astros’ Salazar unintentional

“I did it on purpose, but I didn’t mean to. And I didn’t feel bad when I did it which is why I turned my back and acted like nothing happened” what a piece of shit lol
Only people who believe this are houston fans.
That’s what his translator said. Anyone know what he said in Spanish? I have a hunch the translators are covering for the stars that employ them.
Ain’t he a free agent this offseason? What perfect timing for this behavior.
His body language and complete lack of concern for his catcher after the pitch says otherwise
It was a great pitch though.

Anyone check the volume of betting transactions right before that Grand Slam?
Based on body language, there is zero chance this wasn’t intentional.

It definitely looks intentional, but I’m trying to see things the other way. Valdez emotions were definitely inflated. He was irritated that he gave up a grand slam which is normal. It’s very possible that there was legit miscommunication and Valdez felt shame for that causing him look away from the plate. Similar to the way a dog won’t look at their owner when they’re being scolded for pooping on the carpet is how I’m thinking about it. Truth is we’ll probably never actually know
I don’t get the drama. Was he mad that Sal told him to step off which messed his groove and that’s why he gave up the GS? Was he just in a groove, missed the step off call and was just mad he gave up the GS? Cuz beaning the catcher in the chest is a very impressive feat. Accidental or intentional.

“Oops, I got caught and put on the internet!”
“I wasn’t being an emotional bitch.”
– guy who’s a proven emotional bitch

Valdez’s own family doesn’t believe this

I’m sure he didn’t literally go into that pitch specifically trying to hit him, but it was extremely clear that he did cross him up on purpose. That’s the difference. He didn’t *mean* to hit him, but he *is* a gigantic baby who can’t handle his emotions and wound up hitting his catcher as a result.
Dumb q, but why did he deliberately his his own catcher like this?

No it wasn’t. Stop lying
He couldn’t have been less apologetic.
Can someone explain to me how you intentionally hit a catcher when the pitch hits him right in his glove? Not being snarky but I genuinely don’t understand how you can do that intentionally. I can see getting crossed up but he hit the spot.
