I mean, with the way this team is run, I don’t have much hope lol. Sounds accurate

The guy who did our power ranking over at r/NFL summed it up perfectly really.
“How are Colts fans supposed to have any sense of excitement about this season with Daniel Jones under center? At least with Anthony Richardson you could talk yourself into believing this would be the year he finally puts it all together. Who is falling for that narrative with Jones, a six-year veteran with 20 more losses than wins who couldn’t hit a wide-open, 6-foot-5 receiver for a 30-yard gain a couple weeks ago – while facing zero pressure, mind you? As a Giants fan, too, I was so ready to be done with this guy, and now I’m cursed to yet another season of watching him flail under center. It’s clear head coach Shane Steichen will try anything to save his job, and that now means going with the QB who is a consummate professional off the field over the one with actual upside. Our best-case scenario in this world is Jonathan Taylor carrying the offense, Jones throwing just enough to move the chains and the defense stepping up in a huge way under new coordinator Lou Anarumo (a tall order given the state of our secondary, again). If everything goes our way, we could sneak into the playoffs at 9-8, get blown out, and then continue to have no future at the quarterbackposition. Awesome”
There is a VERY limited upside to this season and a very probable downside. Hard to be excited
Ill have hope…when Shane and Chris are fired on Black Monday.
nah yeh I agree. this is my all time bottom.
For good reason. We have Daniel fuckin Jones as our starter.
I couldn’t agree more. It perfectly describes my feelings
Trying to get excited about the Colts after the Pacers just had that *amazing* run to the finals is like running into a brick wall
There have been more hopeless seasons (like when Luck was out the whole year and Scott Tolzein was the starting QB…holy hell did that suck). But not many.
Jones is just that uninspiring.
I like Riley Leonard 🤷♂️
Yeah I feel it. Haven’t been this discouraged about a season since 2019.
It’s pretty reasonable to believe that Luck’s abrupt and unexpected retirement set this team back 10 years. The loss of Jim only compounds that.
Andrew Luck walked away from a custom built hot rod just for him. It was built around, and for, him. And I’m not blaming him, by the way. If your hearts not in it, do you.
So we turned to the next best option and that’s a decision anyone would’ve made in that scenario, with him retiring in the preseason. We went with a QB familiar with the system and team we had – Brissett. That makes sense.
Then we tooled around with some veterans and, that too was a decent decision at the time. But you had Rivers, Wentz, Matt Ryan…. All of whom (with the exception of Wentz….) were decent choices in my opinion. I was optimistic for a while there, even with Wentz. But when Wentz failed, it was obvious that both he, and the Colts, had to accept that we were what we were, and he is what he is.
But the team that was built around and for Luck is dissolved, we drafted a QB in a weak QB draft class, and we needed him to put some game tape up and show us what he had so we could work on building around him. He’s just….. not the guy.
We’ll figure it out and come around I am sure, as all teams do. But we have to work with new ownership/leadership, along with getting our guy. It’s going to take some serious work and time before this team can compete with the likes of the Bills, Bengals, and Chiefs. We gave it our best shot and I don’t think anyone can really disagree with the decisions made that got us here to this point, really. Efforts were made. We didn’t just roll over and die.
We’ve just gotta trust the process I suppose.
They must check Reddit 😂
We just need a full rebuild atp, all the top players are getting old, and there’s no way we fix the qb situation and win a ring all within the next 2-3 years when all the top guys on the team are pushing 30-30+
Stuck on a hamster wheel of mediocrity with no end in sight . Hey on the bright side they can’t hurt me anymore because the expectations are already so low .
Browns fans??
So, I may be in the minority here (I know I am), but I think this season is a win/win for the fans.
There is no downside to the season.
I think that this roster is overall the best of Ballard’s tenure *by far*.
JT is in his prime, we have a top 10 offensive line, if Latu takes off like I think we have a top 10 defensive line, sneaky top 5 WR room, fixed the holes at safety and CB, and drafted maybe the most dead sure blue chip player in the draft in Warren. Not to mention the stud committee that is building in the RB room.
If Indiana Jones can even be mildly competent and simply make the easy throws when they’re needed then the colts will be 10-7. Could win the division. Thats a major win for both fans and front office.
If he’s as bad as some people think then AR plays, the team tanks, Chris and Shane are gone, and the fans get a win by both closing the book on the AR conversion AND getting a new front office/coaching staff as well.
I mean I’m pretty hopeless, I expect a lot of bad football just like the past few years since Rivers left, and I’ll still watch but can’t really say I look forward to much besides maybe Warren… a TE
