Yankees vs. Astros Game Highlights (9/3/25) | MLB Highlights
We just got some bad news right before the game started. The Astros making a roster move just a few minutes ago as spencer are going on the injured list with elbow inflammation. He was lined up to start in the Rangers Series on Friday, the first game of that series. Jason Alexander on the mound for the Astros tonight for one with a save and a 4.61. Er, a in 13 games, eight starts , 54 and two thirds innings, 55 hits, 20 walks and 46 strikeouts as he strikes out Trent Grisham here starting him out with a couple of change up there after a 21 count is bread and butter and he just toasted Trent Grisham. There you see that van change up hitting 243 and that is strike three, call at the knees on the outside corner with a sweeper, he back door it and the side is retired. So Alexander strikes out two works around a walk and will Warren going to make his 29th start on the year that in and of itself is saying something he’s been durable. He post up, he’s been there the whole time, the numbers are grounded into form pretty well over the year and 16 times. The Yankees have won when he’s taken the mound. Something to be said for that. That’s fifth most in the A L 10th most in all of major league baseball. Jordan back in the lineup after a night off with max greed on the mound. Just a scheduled night, hit hard in the right field down for a base hit Jordan Alvarez after a day off yesterday, picking up where he left off. Now on base for the 14th time, 26 plate appearances. Carlos playing in 122 games combined. This is his 30th in an Astros uniform fastball up high, could not check his strike three on a nice shot by Will Warren. It’s pretty efficient first inning. Now, one thing Stanton has done as the season has progressed, he’s been successful hitting the bottom third of the ball, which is what the Yankees want. So he’s getting more lift on the high exit velocity balls that he drives like that. There it goes sa oh my goodness. He might have broken a window. Amazing. A mammoth blast and the Yankees lead one. Nothing. See the Crawford boxes are just flyover country for him. He goes up over the choo train up the glass 18th home run 47th Rby. I guess he hit the bottom third of the ball. Second game of this three game set and the second game of the 12 game gauntt four series, three games apiece all against playoff teams. Strike three or down looking second strikeout for Warren. Warren just catches so many hitters surprised by his fastball, fastball dotted the corner. Baby. Nice pitch will Warren. He is really staying aggressive here tonight. That’s his third strikeout second looking, he goes 123 in the third and the Yankees scored first today. And that’s a good thing. They have 56 wins. When scoring first, there’s a base hit to right field. Ben Rice with a single Ben Rice can’t get it by him. He’s going to hit it hard somewhere. Here’s Wills looking at last 23 games, he’s a 300 hitter to left field and deep Alvarez giving it a look and it’s over the wall. A home run into the first row over the Crawford Boxes, a two run blast and the Yankees lead three. Nothing. Just an excellent at bat from austin Wells right to the heart of what we were talking about. Didn’t chase the pitches out of the zone, ran the count deep to 32. Got a pitch he could handle and drive and introduced himself to the Crawford Boxes. Diaz, a first pitch swing. What happened and look what happened. A bullet into the gap. The Astros 1st, 1st pitch swing of the night, you have been touting the success of first pitch swings against Warren and first one we get is a double, but like you said, all of a sudden two for two on first pitches, the right field Diaz being held at third as that ball scooted past Chaz Chisholm and the Astros have runners on 1st and 3rd with one out. Now ramon or will bat with runners on the corners and one out. He goes after the first pitch and he skis one to deep center field plenty deep enough to score the run. Grisham makes the catch. That’ll be the 10th sacrifice fly of the year for Ramona as he leads the American League in that category. His first is an Astro and it’s now a 3 to 1 game. He’s got across, he’s Austin Wells two at homer last time up. He’s also doubles having a good night ripped into left field. Alvarez is going to play it off the high wall going for two is wells, he’ll make it and moving to third is Rice who read that very well off the bat big night for Wells. He’s three for three and the other way once again and getting a good pitch to hit in the center field. The catch is made by Tramel tagging is Rice. The throw comes in the second. It’s a sack fly for Grisham and the Yankees lead 4 to 1. Jeremy Pena will lead things off Astros scoring a run with two hits and a sack fly and Pena drills one high and deep to about it pitch swinging Jeremy Pena pitch number 15 on the air. It’s a 4 to 2 game leadoff palm off the bat of Jeremy Pena having himself a home stand. Jorna sends one to left Giancarlo Stanton will have it go over his head and the wall. Jordan is three for three as he strolls into second with a aa beautiful piece of hitting. Got to Will Warren when they got more aggressive early in the count. This one scoots past Austin Wells and Jordan Alvarez takes advantage by moving into third base on the ground. Jordan is coming home Mcmahon there and he threw to first and almost threw it away by Ben Rice at first Mcmahon and Austin Wells chat about whether he should have come home. That will be an RBI ground out for Altuve from the fastball out over the plate. He’s seen several of them should have it timed up. That’s ball four and Jordan is going to bat with the tying run on second and the go ahead run on first. There is a line drive to left field for a base hit. Here comes here comes the throw by Astro tied up. Jordan is tipping on four for four, well played my friend and yes, he is swung on and set to right center field long length of Bellinger at the 370 mark. He makes the catch on the track. Cody Bellinger saved some bacon right there since that outing and including that outing after the loss to the Astros. But since that outing after the loss, he’s gone eight and a third innings and only one earned run striking out 20 there’s a line drive that’s a base hit down the right field line. Correa heading to second. He is going to get there with a double and the Astros have the go ahead run on here in the bottom of the eighth. That is a great way to get things going cc taking that fastball away and going with it and that is off the plate by a little bit ball four. The bases will be loaded on a great take by walker on a closed pitch. So now it’s up to the guy who is playing his first game since August 20th Taylor bases loaded and the Astros take their first lead 5 to 4 at bats in this inning leading to Devin Williams having a word for Walsh on his way out and he just got ejected. He was going to leave the game anyhow, he’s like, I don’t really care. And Aaron Boone after the pitching change went over and continued to let home plate umpire Brian Walsh know it how he felt about that strike zone ejection number six on the year for aaron Boone in the 45th of his career. And now Jeremy with a line drive base hit one run is going to score, holding at third is walker. It’s a two run lead three to against this a chance at a five hit game. He has never in his career had a five hit game that is going to be a ball called here and 74 Astros Camilo Doval doesn’t know why he was called for a ball either is brad Auspitz. It’s a three run lead. This is it in real time. I just don’t think that he came to a stop bounces away. It’s going to be an 8 to 4 lead. Here comes Trammell Astro scoring the last two runs on a balk and a wild pitch. It’s now 8 to 4 on the ground, but right to Jazz Chisholm, it will be a four hit game for Jordan, but more importantly, a four run eighth for the Astros, they have doubled up and now lead it 8 to 4. And on the mound is the closer with hater out Brian Brady and there’s a base hit for Mcmahon Mcmahon. Certainly part of the silver linings of tonight’s game as he started to swing the bat and that is a welcome sight for the Yankees. Aaron Judge has to guard against that slider. The 22 ripped into right center field. It is a base hit. Cutting over is Tramell cuts the ball off in the gap moving to third is Mcmahon Judge with a single, keeps the game alive. Yankees need one more baserunner to bring up the tying run. Bellinger zero for three with a walk. That one’s driven deep to right field, going back, sanchez on the track at the wall. He leaps, see you a three run home run for Bellinger and the Yankees are still alive. They’re down by one. A blast in a blast works too. Part one is down and a great at bat for Bellinger and here is Chisholm and one more time the Yankees down to their final strike. Third strike c thought it was just off the plate. He has a big argument with Brian Walsh before he leaves the field. Astros, hold on to win it. 8 to 7. They pick up a game on both Seattle and Texas a big win tonight. Blumer.

the Ump is definitely operating in the shadow zone
In a few years from now
We will look at this game and think
Gosh, Those 2025 Games still had Human Umpires, who miss 20 to 30 Calls in 1 game
I see the Cheatros brought their own umpires 🙃
Soon as I saw Devon Williams at 6.32 I was like yep… Yankees are going down tonight 😂
We got Robbed '
Wow Jazz, where's your celebration now??? You need to be swinging there, you know the umps strike zone is all over the place, swing the bat!!!!!
When the umpires cheats for the THRASHTROS!
Ump called a fair game. Idk what yall saw
"we all know this is a superteam" 😂 😂
Yikes
I'm fairly new to MLB so I don't really understand, but why are we relying on the umpire's judgement for a game ending call in 2025? Do they just not want to use replay or review, I mean we can literally make the call better at home just watching because of the strike zone on screen. Like imagine watching a game for 3+hours and it ends on a bad call🤣🤣🤣
The cheating Astros always win with the help of umpires
Astros…SPANKED that Yankee ash!!!! Lol.
its a good day when the yankees lose
Cody bellinger is nice
Stanton not good at outfield
Thank you Yankees Jays will still be in 1st place after the weekend even if the Yankees sweep because Jays have Tiebreaker
What a comeback in the 9th good try Yankees, I think jazz has to protect at all costs there, I understand he wants a homer and not a base hit but you get what you get, I’m sure everyone knew what kind of ump they were dealing with at that point… bad call of course but you gotta protect and swing don’t cry about it later
Baseball needs the computerized strike zone calls.
Ball, everyday of the week.
Stop catchers from moving glove to strike zone.
Wow bad calls Yankees need to protect this the last pitch was way outside
