Phillies vs. Brewers Game Highlights (9/3/25) | MLB Highlights

Well, the Brewers are going to be that one of their best hitters in the lineup is christian Jelic moments ago was just scratched from the lineup with lower back soreness. I know Sophia Miller will be all over it. She’ll have an update for you in the game, but Jackson Chio was going to get the game off after dealing with a little bit of hamstring tightness, but he’s back in the lineup. He will be the DH batting in the two spot. A lot of moves late for this Brewers lineup and the pitcher tonight for the Brewers looking for that all important bounce back partner it, jose Quintana been a good year for him. He’s got a 369 earned run average starting number 22 here tonight, Turner on the ground. Nice play over there. Nice picks and throws out the speedy Trey Turner for out number one. That’s a good way to start tonight. Kyle Schwarber is the hitter Schwarber was zero for four in Monday’s game 22 pitch to Schwarber strike three called right at the knees on the outside corner and Schwarber has rung up and Schwarber getting in the face of Jim Wolf. Wow, that was a really aggressive first inning in the face argument from Kyle Schwarber ball four on Bryce Harper. So a two out walk to Harper sets the stage for JTRM bouncing ball and off the glove of Siegler into left field Harper is going to third. Collins throw to third is late snap throw to first and is out. Well, the Brewers made a mess of that and Then turned it into the last out of the year and that is how the first inning will end for the Phillies, aaron Nola 2 to 0. Since returning to the mound here, this is his fourth start. The fastballs are four seamer in the sinker secondary. Of course, the knuckle curveball , which is excellent in change up. He also will pitch to the edge of the home plate umpire has his work cut out for swipes. The bag run scoring opportunity for Jackson Chio 1 to 2 on the pitch to hit him. Oh my goodness. I think it got him either in the elbow or in the hand pad. He wears pads in the elbow and right above the wrists and top of his hand. For that very reason, Brad Epstein going out to check on chion seems to be ok, but fastball up and in and it hit him right in that hand pad, that’s why you wear it, protect yourself from pitches up and in just like that and now they’re loaded up for free left handed batter. Waiting a 298 hitter was trying to put some runs on him in this first inning to two pitch free in the air, shallow center falling fast. It’s, and it goes off the dugout racing to the plate. Save Milwaukee. This is what the Brewers do. They are a pressure type of offense where they can, they battle, they don’t strike out a ton, they get the ball in play and Then they all can run all of a sudden. You get a blooper, a throw to third. It’s not particularly a bad throw, but it gets in the way with the runner is hard to catch and you create chaos before you know it, you’ve given up an extra run already down 2 to 0 and there’s nobody out. Not a great start here. So Isaac Collins is at the plate with two on at 1st and 2nd and nobody out. That’s a drive to the right field. She’s gone. How is it not the start that anybody wanted? But certainly not aaron Nola. What a start for the crew tonight. A five spot just can’t find it right now. Swings and misses at a curveball back to back Ks for Nola and two outs for Siegler fly ball center field back, you can see how he backpedals that he’s under it. Well, big start for the Brewers and a tough start for Nola yet again. Five runs, three hits and 271 average overall for the season. Now, with the Phillies batting 313, there’s another bouncer. Look at Quintana snag that thing and two outs, 213 putouts. Bader brand up the first baseline about halfway and Then flip the bat maybe 30 ft in the air. I mean, some frustration. Sure, I get it but it forward, it almost landed back on him on one pitch. Castellanos another ground ball back to Quintana. He’s got it flips the first. How many times has that ever happened in major league baseball? All come back. Jose Quintana took care of them all. Here’s Bryce Tang or Bark Tang. Look at the big slobber. That’s the way Tang has been looking at pitchers in the month of August hit into left center, got some carry Bader back and a collision in left center. Nobody comes up with it. Tang is around second. He is headed for third and he’s standing at third base with a triple Bader and Weston Wilson were both in hot pursuit of that line drive in the gap. You couldn’t split two outfielders any better. They both dove at the same time , both reached with their glove hand at the exact same time. It looks like he jammed the glove hand into Harrison Bader shoulder. Wilson is going to stay in the game. Chur the batter infield is in and a strike three called down on strikes. That’s the third strikeout for aaron Nola ahead of him again. The two pitch swinging miss got him with a curveball and no, with back to back strikeouts after the triple, back to back walks is going to bring Bryce Harper to the plate when he has had issues this year. The walks have been a part of that story. So now two on and two outs for Bryce Harper, that’s a big moment in this game early on for Jose Quintana, breaking ball struck him out and after two straight walks with two outs, he comes back and strikes out Bryce Harper and they scored a base hit for real Muto who is two for two tonight after being one for his last 26. So an infield single to start the fourth inning. Here’s Alec BC shot on the back. Bauer steps on it, got to tag and gets the tag on to Ortiz a double play. That was nicely done. Power to Joey. Oh, the two debater is a fly ball to center but playable for Perkins back into his left makes the catch and the inning is over one away. That will bring up Joey Ortiz who grounded to third base line drive by a ball. It’s good to be 65. Sometimes nice reaction from a ball pro double but Alec with a little range for that for that size. Nice play price turang the batter Teren walks stole a base , scored a run of the first five. Nothing here. Brewers need it. Uh oh, Tang sends it deep to left. It is, scores is in with a double. He just keeps on hitting his second extra base of the night and it’s 6 to 0. Milwaukee back to back base hits for the Phillies and the Phillies have two on with nobody out here in the fifth inning. 0 to 2 pitch. And in there called strike three right at the bottom of the zone with a fastball with a fastball. He will bring Trey up so important to try to get a run in here, especially 1st and 2nd. Nobody out to open up this inning and the 0 to 1 swinging a ground ball the other way that is a base hit to right field Castanos coming around third, they’re going to wave him to the plate. The throw will go to second base and trade Turner with an RB I single gets the Phillies on the board. It’s now a 6 to 1 ball game is all the way to the extremes on both ends. Big power, big home run hitter does strike out here. He comes Swar strikes out back to that slur. There’s a big strikeout for Quintana job not done with Harper at the plate. Struck out in the third, walked in the first ground ball right at Ortiz. He field steps on second base gets the force out on Trey Turner and the inning is over in the top of the fifth Nola set the letters looks back at second and here’s the pitch swung on, hit in the air, center field, not deep coming in, he’s there. He’s got it and Nola gets through five innings tonight after the disaster. His first inning, Nola pitches through five and we go to the sixth. It’s 61. Brewers has been excellent. Something can get through the sixth inning. He’s been very efficient tonight. Swing and a miss, he struck him out curveball on the outer part of the plate got Muto to chase Bader chopper to short could be two. They go to second for one on the first two, double play. Quintana is out of the inning. Quintana again handcuffing the Phillies as he usually does the length from Quintana. Tonight has been exactly what the Brewers were hoping for Western Wilson zero for 2 to 1 pitch, swung on, hit high in the air left field and deep going back on it. Collins looking up and that ball is way gone. Weston wilson with a two run home run his fourth of the year that goes way up onto the Miller Lite landing below birdie. The Brewers slide. That was a tremendous shot 444 ft for Weston Wilson. Top of the order is coming up, Quintana. You can see he is furious walking off the mound a great effort tonight. Brand new game here, Ashby takes over for Quintana and now Bryce Harper is coming up and he represents the tying run of this , the pitch and it’s a ground ball to second base could be two. Tang goes to second and the first out in time, just a slight hesitation on the exchange for Tang. And so he couldn’t get it out quite as quickly as he wanted to. That cost the Brewers the double play. So runners on the corners and two outs. JT he will face, he struck him out. JT just walks back to the dugout. The Phillies get two runs on the board but they miss another opportunity to get a little bit closer Phillies down to their final out. That brings up kyle Schwarber. Best that Schwarber can do is bring the Phillies within a run , 1 to 1 on the ground should do it over the game and the Brewers beat the Phillies struggles for Aaron Nola continue. He gives up five in the first and that proves to be the difference.

  1. We all already know this was gonna happen the Phillies gave the brewers the Aaron Nola special while the Phillies offense will struggle mean while this brewers is still hot even tho they have cooled off a little the brewers are post season contenders the brewers have one of the best defenses overrall and rolling offense that can't be stop.

  2. Told people years ago the 270 million dollar man Aaron Nola was a terrible contract. But his fanboys wouldn't stop glazing him and here we are. Its just as bad as the Rendon contract and will prevent the Phillies from making any serious noise in the playoffs.

  3. One of the best games of the year for the gritty Brewers. Q came through for a very important win. Brewers D was alert all night
We're little banged up right now. But the next man up mentality has been pretty amazing to see with these guys.

  4. Tough news w. Shelby, but it's looking like a rested #1 seed and probably no Phillies or Dodgers in that first 5 game series! I still think those 2 will be Milwaukee's biggest NL competitors. AND pray that Yelly, Jackson, Contreras, Tirang, and Sal are near or at 100%. Less than a month, people!
