Phillies vs. Brewers Game Highlights (9/3/25) | MLB Highlights

Well, the Brewers are going to be one of their best hitters in the lineup as Christian Yell moments ago was just scratched from the lineup with lower back soreness. I know Sophia Miner will be all over it. She’ll have an update for you in the game. But Jackson was going to get the game off after dealing with a little bit of hamstring tightness, but he’s back in the lineup. He will be the DH batting in the two spot. A lot of moves late for this Brewers lineup. Then the pitcher tonight for the Brewers looking for that allimportant bounceback partner. It’s Jose Kintana. Yeah, 10 and five. It’s been a good year for him. He’s got a 369 earned run average. Start number 22 here tonight. Turner on the ground. Nice play over there. Nice pick. Seagler and throws out the speedy Trey Turner for out number one. That’s a good way to start the night. Kyle Schwarber is the hitter. Schwarber was 0 for four in Monday’s game. Two pitch to Schwarber. Strike three called right at the knees on the outside corner and Schwarber is rung up and Schwarber getting in the face of Jim Wolf. Wow, that was a really aggressive first inning in the face argument from Kyle Schwarber. Ball four on Bryce Harper. So a two out walk to Harper sets the stage for JT Real Muto. Bouncing ball and off the glove of Seagler into left field. Harper is going to third. Collins throw to third is late. Snap throw to first and real Muto is out. Well, the Brewers made a mess of that and then turned it into the last out of the inning. And that is how the first inning will end for the Phillies. Aaron 2 and0 since returning to the mound here. This is his fourth start. The fast balls are a four seamer and a sinker. Secondar is of course the knuckle curve ball which is excellent and change up. He also will pitch to the edge. So the home plate umpire has his work cut out for him. Terang swipes the bag. Runscoring opportunity for Jackson Churio. One and two on Churio. The pitch up and in. It hit him. Oh my goodness. I think it got him either in the elbow or in the hand pad. He wears both pads again. The elbow and right above the wrist and top of his hand for that very reason. Brad Epstein going out to check on Cheurio and he seems to be okay. But fast ball up and in and it hit him right in that hand pad. That’s why you wear it. Protect yourself from pitches up and in just like that. And now they’re loaded up for Sal Felic. Left-handed batter waiting. A 298 hitter. Trying to put some runs on him in this first inning. Two-2 pitch. Freelick in the air. Shallow center. Falling fast. It’s down. A base hit. Throw to third and it goes off the dugout. Cheerio racing to the plate. He is safe. A mad dash for Cheerio. Two nothing Milwaukee. This is what the Brewers do. They are a pressure type of offense where they can they battle. They don’t strike out a ton. They get the ball in play and then they all can run. All of a sudden, you get a blooper, a throw to third. It’s not particularly a bad throw, but it gets in the way with the runners. Hard to catch and you create chaos. Before you know it, you’ve given up an extra run. Already down two nothing and there’s nobody out. Yeah, not a great start here. And so Isaac Collins is at the plate with two on at first and second and nobody out. That’s a drive into right field. Back on it, Castianos and she’s gone. Isaac Collins. Not the start that anybody wanted, but certainly not Aaron Noah. What a start for the Brew Crew tonight. A five spot. Aaron just can’t find it right now. Swings and misses at a curveball. Backto-back Ks for Nola. And two outs for Seagler. Fly ball center field. Bader’s back. You can see how he backpedals that he’s under it. Well, big start for the Brewers and a tough start for Nola yet again. Five runs, three hits and error. Vader 271 average overall for the season. Now with the Phillies batting 313. There’s another bouncer. Look at Kintana snag that thing and two outs. Two one three put outs. Bader ran up the first baseline about halfway and then flipped the bat maybe 30 ft in the air. I mean some frustration. Sure, I get it. He threw it forward. It almost landed back on him. One-1 pitch. Castianos. Another ground ball back to Kintana. He’s got it. Flips to first. How many times has that ever happened in Major League Baseball? All comebackers to Jos Kintana. He took care of them all. Here’s Bryce Terang or Bark Tang. Big. Look at that big slobber. That’s the way Terra’s been looking at pitchers in the month of August. Hit into left center. Got some carry. Bader back and a collision in left center. Nobody comes up with it. Terra is around second. He is headed for third and he is standing at third base with a triple. Bader and Weston Wilson were both in a hot pursuit of that line drive in the gap. You couldn’t split the two outfielders any better. They both dove at the same time. Both reached with their glove hand at the exact same time. It looks like he he jammed the glove hand into Harrison Bader’s shoulder. Well, Wilson uh is going to stay in the game. Cheerio, the batter infield is in. And a strike three called. Cheerio down on strikes. That’s the third strike out for Aaron. Nola ahead of him again. The O2 pitch. Swing of the miss. Got him with a curveball. And Nola with back-to- back strikeouts after the triple. Back-to-back walks is going to bring Bryce Harper to the plate. When he has had issues this year, the walks have been a part of that story. So now two on and two outs for Bryce Harper. That’s a big moment in this game early on for José Kintana and he caught him. Breaking ball struck him out and after two straight walks with two outs, he comes back and strikes out Bryce Harper and they scored a base hit for Real Muto who is two for two tonight after being one for his last 26. So an infield single to start the fourth inning. Here’s Alec Bow. Q shot on the bag. Bower steps on it. Got to tag him and gets the tag on to M Ortiz. A double play. That was nicely done. Bowers to Joey O. The O2 Debator is a fly ball to center but playable for Perkins. Back into his left makes the catch and the inning is over. One away. That’ll bring up Joey Ortiz who grounded to third base. Line drive caught by Alec Bow. It’s good to be 6’5 sometimes. Nice reaction from Alec Bow. Probable double but Alec with a little range for that for that size. Nice play. Bryce Tang, the batter. Terang walk, stole a base, scored a run in the first. 5 nothing here. Brewers lead it. Uh-oh. Terra sends it deep to left. It is off the wall. Howard scores. Terra is in with a double. He just keeps on hitting. His second extra base hit of the night. And it’s 6 nothing Milwaukee. Backto back base hits for the Phillies. And the Phillies have two on with nobody out here in the fifth inning. 02 pitch and in there called strike three right at the bottom of the zone with a fast ball. Yeah, pulled him with a fast ball. He’ll bring Trey up. That’s so important to try to get a run in here, especially in first and second. Nobody out to open up this inning and the one swinging a ground ball the other way. That is a base hit into right field. Cast coming around third. They’re going to wave him to the plate. The throw will go to second base. And Trey Turner with an RBI single gets the Phillies on the board. It’s now a six to one ball game. Schwarber is all the way to the extremes on both ends. Big power, big home run hitter. Does strike out. Here he comes. Schwarber strikes out. Back to that slerve. There’s a big strike out for Kitana. Job not done with Harper at the plate. Struck out in the third. Walked in the first. Ground ball right at Ortiz. He fields. Steps on second base. Gets a force out on Trey Turner. And the inning is over in the top of the fifth. Nola set at the letters. looks back at second and here’s the pitch. Swung on, hit in the air, center field, not deep. Bader coming in. He’s there. He’s got it. And Nola gets through five innings tonight after the disastrous first inning. Nola pitches through five and we’ll go to the sixth. It’s 6-1 Brewers. Kintana has been excellent. This will be something if Kintana can get through this sixth inning. He’s been very efficient tonight. Swinging and a miss. He struck him out. Curveball on the outer part of the plate. Gabriel Muto to chase Bader. Chopper to short. Could be two. They go to second for one. On to first. Two. Double play. Kintana’s out of the inning. Kintana again handcuffing the Phillies as he usually does. The length from Kintana tonight has been exactly what the Brewers were hoping for. There’s Weston Wilson 0 for two. Two-1 pitch. Swung on. Hit high in the air. Left field and deep. Going back on it. Collins looking up. And that ball is way gone. Wow. Weston Wilson with a two-run home run, his fourth of the year. That goes way up onto the Miller Light landing below Bernie the Brewers slide. That was a tremendous shot. 444 ft for Weston Wilson. The top of the order is coming up. Kintana, you can see he is furious walking off that mound. But a great effort tonight. Brand new game here. Ashby takes over for Kintana. And now Bryce Harper is coming up and he represents the tying run of this one. The pitch and it’s a ground ball to second base. Could be two. Terra goes to second one to return the first. Not in time. Just a slight hesitation on the exchange for Terraang. And so he couldn’t get it out quite as quickly as he wanted to. That cost the Brewers the double play. So runners on the corners and two outs. Now JT Ruto, he will face Ashby. Swing and a miss. He struck him out. JT just walks back to the dugout. Well, the Phillies get two runs on the board, but they miss another opportunity to get a little bit closer. Phillies down to their final out. That brings up Kyle Schwarber. Best that Schwarber can do is bring the Phillies within a run. The one-1 Schwarber on the ground. This should do it. Dang over the first ball game and the Brewers beat the Phillies. Struggles for Aaron Nola continue. He gives up five in the first and that proves to be the difference.

  1. As deep as this team is injuries are still a major concern. Especially when a player of the magnitude of Christian Yelich could be out for any extended period of time. So far this team has been able to get through the loss of Rhys Hoskins, Jackson Chourio, Joey Ortiz, and quite a few other high-end players. I'm hoping that they can stay healthy, and get stronger throughout the month of September. We need our entire Pitching Staff to get some well needed rest. Here's hoping that the Brewers can get some really strong Starts that can help take some of the pressure off of the bullpen. Especially since Trevor Megill is out.

  2. Remember the days with Counsell at the helm where we were always at the bottom of the league in batting average at 220 and didn't have anyone batting over 230. Thank you Cubbies!!! And thank you Yanks for taking our 9th inning meatball server.

  3. Brice Turang has been on an absolute monster run at the plate lately. So has Sal Frelick as well. Those two guys remind me a lot of Paul Molitor and Robin Yount. Both of these incredible players have really helped the Brewers all season, but especially since the All-Star Break. Yount and Molitor were able to hit anywhere in the park. Left Field, Right Field, Center, home runs, doubles, triples, a bunt when needed, sacrifice flies, infield hits, and both have exceptional speed and great baserunning skills. These two guys are the perfect example of what a lead-off hitter and/or a #2 hitter looks like. I love watching both of them hit. They are both so patient at the plate and they are both able to jump all over a pitcher's mistakes.

  4. Great night for Jose Q! Love to see the fire when he was pulled too. I don’t care though… as a Brewers fan the team I least want to face in October is Philly.
