To preface, I’d say I’m a baseball nerd. I choose not to say that I’m a fan but rather that I follow the Yankees and the Braves. I grew up in Atlanta and, for whatever reason, have always liked the Yanks. I’ve been to both stadiums. A Yankee home game is special, especially if you get a good game and the crowd is really into it. That said, Wrigley is on another level. I can’t speak for the old Yankee Stadium, but the experience at Wrigley is above and beyond any baseball game I’ve been to. I attended Monday’s game against the Braves. I’m almost 40 so this was really a clash between the two teams I watched most growing up (shoutout WGN and TBS). The crowd was into it with every pitch. A stolen base and the place went bananas. Great catch, loud reaction. Big strikeout, big pop from the crowd. While in NY people are into the game, by and large they have other things going on. At Wrigley it felt like everyone was with every pitch. It was wonderful. It’s kind of strange because The only negative I have is that there’s constantly people moving around. Our row was pretty settled but everyone else seemed to keep getting up and down.

My wife was sick at the hotel so I ended up leaving when the Braves were up by 2 in the top of the 8th. I tried to get back to her without being away for too long. I was outside the stadium when Kelly hit the game tying homerun. It was really neat to see people in buildings outside the stadium come to the streets to celebrate. Rey unique to Wrigley. I quickly went back in using My wife’s unused ticket. I saw the walkoff and got to get back happy. I say all that to say this… did I just become a Cubs fan?? Is every game at Wrigley like that? Unbelievable. You guys who live in Chicago are very lucky.

  1. Welcome to Wrigley! I am glad you had a wonderful experience. I moved away from Chicago about 10 years ago, but try to make it back at least once a seacon to see a game at Wrigley.

  2. Great pics! If Cubs are in the playoffs hunt the place is bananas. You picked a good time to see them.
