Miami Heat Free Agent Target EMERGING Soon? Miami Heat Rumors
[Music] The Miami Heat may have a new free agent target to look into coming up shortly. That being Andre Jackson Jr., the Milwaukee Bucks forward and soon to be third-year wing. I am Nick Rolloff. This is the Heat Report by Chat Sports. And you might be wondering if he is a free agent currently. No, that’s not the case, but it could be happening soon. Brett Seagull reported that while the team has believed in his potential, the 23-year-old was actually on the trade block at the trade deadline last season. The Bucks were seeking two second round picks in return for Jackson, but they were never offered more than one second round pick. And as of news last over the past 48 hours, they’re resigning Antin Kmpo. So, they need to create a roster spot. And since the trade value isn’t the highest on Andre Jackson Jr., they could ultimately wave the third-year forward in order to make room for Thenis. And I’ll say this right now, if the Bucks ultimately do wave Jackson, the Miami Heat need to jump all over this and sign him. A reason why? Well, they didn’t jump in on Olivier Maxon’s Prosper, who signed a two-way deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. I thought he should have been the third and final addition to the two-way contracts Miami currently has to offer, but that ultimately doesn’t happen. So, if Jackson Jr. is available, well, there’s the best option available. But before we get into this, I got to throw shade at Jeffrey Cooperstein, the producer here at the Heat Report. He is a Dallas Mavericks fan and had choiced words on Dwayne Wade. You can read them on screen. I ain’t going to read them. I’m not going to voice it. It’s absolutely atrocious what Coupe has done slandering Dwayne Wade’s name on social media. So, I want to spam F Coupe in the comments for the Salty Maz fan. He’s laughing over here because he knows we called him dead the rights. I’m putting him on blast. Spam F Coupe in the comments. I can’t deal with that nonsense from the Mets fan. All right, back to Andre Jackson Jr., I loved him coming out of the draft. I thought he was a first round pick. Now, did I have a first round grade on him? No. I did have him ranked as the 30th overall player on my 2023 NBA draft big board, but I did not have a first round grade on him. He was ultimately drafted 36th overall, which is in the second round, out of the University of Connecticut where he helped lead them to a national championship in his final season. And a quick scouting report from my notes back then in 2023. I say unreal athleticism. Skywalker with an elite basketball IQ. And Yukon was at its best when it actually allowed Andre Jackson to handle the ball and lead the halfcourt offense for Yukon. Has a very limited jump shot and struggles there, but can defend one through four and is a one-man fast break when he gets out in transition. He’s got excellent size, 66 with a 610 wingspan. And he is a Skywalker. I mentioned his vertical. He is a 39.5 max vertical. He actually was in the NBA dunk contest. I forget if it was this past year or his rookie year, but he was in the dunk contest over the last two seasons at least once. This is a player that I would love to take a flyer on. And in his first two seasons with the Bucks, he has not been the most productive. In his rookie season, he played 57 games, 10 minutes a game. And in his last season, he played 67 games averaging 14.6 minutes a night. You obviously see there that he wasn’t the most productive in terms of his offensive output, but that’s not his game. And the part that’s the most surprising to me is actually how he has come a little bit of a way with his three-point shooting. I know it’s not a high volume, only 08 attempts as a rookie, 1.1 attempts per game as a sophomore, but shooting above 35% from three is impressive in my opinion, considering that was the biggest knock on Jackson Jr. throughout his college career playing at Yukon. It was my largest concern for him coming out of the draft. And I will be completely honest with you, I would not be able to comprehend. I can’t fathom the Milwaukee Bucks actually waving Andre Jackson Jr. for the Antono. Then is no offense because he’s got a little bit of NBA talent. He is a cheerleader. That’s what his role is. He is not a player that can actually give you legit minutes in an NBA game unless it is a 40point game. Either way, he is there to be a locker room guy at best to help keep Giannis in check and give him maybe some peace of mind or happiness in the locker room on a day-to-day basis. But when you’re talking pure basketball standpoint, you could not justify to any person in the world having Thanassis Kmpo over Andre Jackson Jr. And I want to share this tweet from a Bucks fan account, Heavenly Buckets, who by the way is got like 7,000 followers on Bucks Twitter. I didn’t even know there was that many fans. But he mentioned that Andre Jackson Jr. didn’t get a lot of minutes for Milwaukee in the playoffs. and he didn’t understand why because of all the progression he made on defense with guarding some of the toughest opponents throughout the year in the regular season and his improved three-point shot. So, Bucks fans felt as if he should have gotten an opportunity in the playoffs when they were bounced in the first round by the Indiana Pacers for the second straight year. Like, the point I’m making with this is that Andre Jackson Jr. is still relatively young, 23, 24, and I think would be a welcomed addition to the Heats developmental system if he did get waved. And I would love to bring him into this organization. Make sure you are subscribed. We got almost a month and a half, not even six weeks. October 22nd is when the Heat make their regular season debut against the Orlando Magic. Hit that sub button if you want to be up to date on everything Miami Heat. Now, you might be asking, how would we sign Andre Jackson Jr. if he got released? Well, he is eligible for a two-way contract because he has played less than four years inside the NBA. Or you could sign him to a standard deal technically. Now, the two-way contract would probably be the most likely option as the Heat do still have an open slot. Remember, you get three two-way contracts um alongside 15 standard contracts, giving you an 18man kind of roster. Two-way players can play about half the games of the regular season. I believe 4142 is the exact number, maybe 44, 45, but are not eligible for the NBA postseason. And like I mentioned off the top, I really wanted the Heat to go after the first round pick from the Mavs in that same draft class 2023, Olivier Max Prosper. That is not the case. he went to the Memphis Grizzlies, so why not take a shot on Andre Jackson Jr. if he ultimately gets waved. Now, I don’t know if he would sign a two-way contract. I also pondered that same question with Omax, saying maybe a team is going to offer him a standard and not just a two-way. If Omax isn’t going to get a standard deal, he was a firstround pick in that same draft class. Yes, he’s been less productive than Jackson Jr., But the question still remains, would Andre be offered a standard deal from a different NBA team, or would it only be two-way deals? It’s only two-way deals. Well, then Miami needs to jump in on that and potentially bring them in to the 305. We’re moving on here in a second, but we got to talk about prize picks. This episode is brought to you by prize picks. I make decisions every single day. So do you. And if you make the right decisions on prize picks, you could get paid where it’s good to be right. With football season here, basketball season still a little bit away. I’m getting in on the action. Whether it’s Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen. So simple. Just pick more or less on two to six player staff projections. If you get your picks right, you could cash in. Price picks in vetted the flex play, which means you could still cash out if your lineup isn’t perfect. Double your money even if one of your picks does not hit. They have weekly promotions and weekly specials. How about this special? Discounted stat projection for Dak Prescott. just got to take more than on his half a passing yard. Pair that up with any other stat projection you like and you could cash in. That’s my entry for the opening game in the professional football season that begins today. Download the app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That is code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. So, there are multiple ways you could sign Andre Jackson Jr. I mentioned signing him to a two-way contract. You could also make a roster move to have the ability to sign him to a standard deal. Miami could wave Terry Rosier and because he was only guaranteed 24.9 of his 26.6 million this year with that other 1.7 being bonuses if he’s with the Heat this year. Well, you could save the 1.7 if you wave them. So that would then put you at about $3.3 million underneath the luxury tax, which would give you the amount of money necessary to sign Andre Jackson Jr. to a standard deal, but also stay underneath the luxury tax. You could also do the same thing with agreeing to a buyout with Terry Rosier, but that seems much more unlikely considering that he is still under a FBI investigation for the gambling potential scheme when he was a member of the Charlotte Hornets. Now, until that is resolved, he probably would not agree to a buyout, but I mentioned that you could just flat out wave him. And it would be interesting to add Andre Jackson Jr. to this rotation, right? You do have a lot of wings. Yoic, Kashad Johnson, who plays honestly a very similar brand of basketball to Andre Jackson Jr. Obviously, Hakez, Fonteio, Larson. Um, so you do question if it would be worth it with all of the young wings you already have coming off of your bench, but I just believe in the player and I believe in the Heat’s developmental system. So, I would contemplate creating roster space if needed to sign Andre Jackson Jr. I believe if he’s able to consistently improve that three-point shot on an increased volume, you can’t teach his length, you can’t teach his athleticism, and you can’t teach his IQ, which is all things that would benefit Miami. Now, maybe it’s on a two-way deal and you get him that way, which would make me very, very happy. But I would be thinking about creating a roster spot if need be because I would rather pay Rosir to not play for me and have Andre Jackson Jr. than just have Rosier rod on your bench this season. So, what say you, before we close out the show, do you want to add Andre Jackson Jr., whether it is to a standard deal or a two-way contract if he is waved by the Milwaukee Bucks. The latter has to happen first, but we’ll have to see. Type Y for yes or N for no. Now, I will obviously note that if you did make this move, especially if it’s a standard deal, that is just more evidence that you are neglecting the need at backup center. If the heat do ultimately buy out a Terry Rosier or wave him, I would probably be banging the table for Pat Riley to go out and add a backup big man that keeps you underneath the luxury tax. Whether it is a Kai Jones, whether it is a pressure to Chua, can’t really go after Trey Lyles, that would put you into the luxury tax due to how the cap hits work. But I do think backup center would probably be the only way to go if you ultimately did wave Rosir to create some space between you and the luxury tax. But as I mentioned, if you could get Andre Jackson Jr. on a two-way deal, that is an absolute win. And if the Heat make any roster moves, we will have you covered. So subscribe to the channel today. Brett Siegel on Andre Jackson Jr. rumors:
“While the team has believed in his potential, the 23-year-old was on the trade block before last season’s trade deadline, league sources told ClutchPoints. The Bucks were seeking two second-round picks in a trade for Jackson, but they never received an offer including more than one second-round pick. Since other organizations know that the Bucks need to clear a roster spot, it will be virtually impossible for them to receive value in return for a player like Jackson or another minimum-contract-like player. That is why Jackson is a potential player who could be waived by the Bucks after signing Antetokounmpo.”
