ESPN Has CRAZY Predictions For New England Patriots In 2025 NFL Season

Ladies and gentlemen, football is back tonight. It is the Eagles and the Cowboys, but still a good game. We got to wait three more days for the Patriots. But before the Patriots go and take on the Raiders, ESPN came out with this article giving crazy predictions for every NFL team. Welcome into Patriots Today by Chat Sports. I am your host Brett Alper and here are your ESPN 2025 preview. Playoff odds 30.5%. AFC East odds 13.1% projected wins at 8 which I think is good. Straight to schedule third easiest and a 2024 record obviously of 14 and three. It’s crazy the predictions some of they’ve made. The last one is going to be wild. So let’s get right into it and break this all down. [Music] So ESPN ranked the Patriots 26th in the NFL on their article and I don’t agree with it. They have the Raiders better, which I think is outlandish. They put the Falcons at 25th. We are right in front of the New York Giants. They have a bunch of teams that are irre are relevant at the bottom, but 26, man, this team is better than 26, and we’re going to show you exactly why. But first, this is why I subscribe to the channel. This is an ESPN Plus article. ESPN Plus is $120 a year. Patriots Today, absolutely goose egg free. And I got a little goal for for this channel. 28,500 subs. And we are 500 away from 29,000. Can we do it in 3 days before we go live on Sunday for the Patriots Raiders game? Maybe. I will challenge you guys. So, hit that sub button if you love all the coverage. The first thing they get into was the biggest strength of the Patriots. And this was kind of a surprise to me because they listed Tayvon Henderson as the Patriots biggest strength of the roster. And I will say, I think he’s going to be great. I think he might catch 50 passes this year and rush for like 900 yards, but as your biggest strength as a rookie, that is absolutely insane. And we saw what Henderson could do on preeason, like we know what he did at Ohio State, but five carries, 38 yards. He had two touchdowns, which one was a kick returner. You saw that burst of speed, but then three receptions for 12 yards in only two games. He did not play that third game and he didn’t play past the second drive of each of the first preseason games, which I think he’s going to be great, but the greatest, I’m not going to say yet. Here’s what Mike Reese had to say. The Patriots ESPN Reporter, it is perhaps bold to highlight a rookie second round pick. Yeah, duh. But he is unlike any running back the Patriots have had speedwise in recent years. And he has also shown a knack for running between the tackles as evidenced by his 100yard kick return for a touchdown by the opening kickoff in the preseason and his eight-yard touchdown run in week two against the Vikings. The Patriots finally have a player who is a threat to score anytime he touches the football. And I think he’s going to be a threat on this team. But I think the biggest strength on this Patriots roster has to be with the front five. I mean, you gave Milton Williams a massive and massive amounts of money. He became the highest Patriots player. You bring in Harold Landry that had nine sacks. You have Kavon Chasan who looks incredible throughout the preseason and throughout camp. And that’s why he passed Keon White to be that starter. And then you have Kyus Tonga as your nose tackle just to get a little bit more depth. But I didn’t mention one guy and that’s Christian Barour. Have we forgotten how good Christian Barbour has been in 2023? Do we all forget that he was looking like one of the best defensive tackles? So, you have Milton Williams, you have Christian Barour, and then on the outside, good edge rushers. You’re telling me that’s not the biggest strength of the Patriots. That is by far, in my opinion. I will say Tvon Henderson might be second, but I would even at this point put Stfan Diggs because we have truly not seen what Henderson has done throughout the regular season. I’ll ask you guys though, is Trevon Henderson the Pats biggest strength of this roster? I’m going to put a no and I’m going to go with the front five. Let me know in the comments section. Go right now, give me your Y for yes or an N for no. The biggest concern for the Patriots from ESPN, and they didn’t list anything in particular. They just listed depth. And here’s what Mike Reese kind of had to say about that. He said, “The drop off from starter to backup at the majority of positions is significant, which highlights the organization struggle at drafting and developing in recent years.” Yeah, the 2022 class, there’s basically only Marcus Jones left. And with the 2024 class, it’s basically Kaden Wallace and Drake May. It’s not been good the last couple years. However, the 2025 draft appears to be a solid foundation with three projected opening day starters, not including specialists with that is Craig Woodson, Tayvon Henderson, and Jared Wilson or and Will Campbell. So that would technically be four starters if we want to get real here. But there’s definitely depth problems at certain positions. Like we’ll talk about that like the safeties have a depth problem after Jaylen Hawkins and Craig Woodson. You got rid of Jabril Peppers which added depth. But now behind that it’s just Kyle Duggar and Del Pettis. Like it’s not. But I think the weakness of the Patriots that is bigger than just their depth has to be the offensive line. And this was the biggest problem last year in 2024. But they revamped it. They made it completely different. And I think that when you look at what the Patriots offensive line is, it’s improved. You have Will Campbell, Jared Wilson, that’s a whole new rookie on one side. You have Mike Wenu coming back. You added Garrett Bradbury, which we’re still not 100% sure if he’s going to be the starter all season long. And then Morgan Moses. Is that going to elevate this elevate this offensive line group from here all the way to here? I don’t know. I don’t I’m not going to say it’s the worst in the league like last year, but am I going to say it’s as bad as good like if is it good? H not really. I would probably go with the weakness as the offensive line rather than depth pieces. You could say anything has bad depth pieces. Your starters are going to be your starters. Going to break down some more of their biggest bold predictions and including just what who who is the key to this offense. And I said this in videos before. It all depends on how good Drake May plays. And if he plays well, the Patriots are going to do well. If he doesn’t, well, the Patriots are going to struggle. Here’s what ESPN had to say. He recorded 2276 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and 409 rushing yards in 13 games, 12 starts as a rookie. May recorded those numbers without a 700yard wide receiver. And tight end Hunter Henry was the team leader with 674 passing yards. But insert your new,000yard wide receiver, Mr. Stefon Diggs. And there was questions throughout the off seasonason was is he gonna be healthy coming back from that ACL tear that he suffered in October of last season. Well, he came back and he has been healthy. He has practiced throughout training camp, throughout preseason, but he didn’t play in preseason games, but he practiced. And then yesterday, Mike Reese asked him, “Are you expected to be on a pitch count?” And Stefan Digs said, “Hell no.” Well, I don’t know. I don’t make the rules, but we’ll see how it goes. I really hope not. And I don’t expect him to. And there’s one reason why I don’t expect him to because Patriots released their first injury report. Unfortunately, Christian Gonzalez did not practice, so I assume he’s not going to play. But you do not see Stfane Diggs on that list. So that means that he’s fully healthy. If he was on the injury report, maybe he would be a full practice like you saw with Eftton Chisum and they’d put knee on there. But he is fully healthy. I don’t expect him to be on a pitch cl count. It’s a full go because he has no limitations in practice. So that is exciting to see. And I see the Patriots having a thousand yard wide receiver because all he needs to do is just average 62 yards. And I know Stefan Diggs can do that. Here’s the biggest bold prediction, and I completely disagree. I think this is 100% BS, but ESPN thinks that Milt Williams will be a non-factor basically and have fewer than five sacks on the gear, which is crazy. Here’s what Seth Walder had to say. And Seth Walder throughout the entire off seasonason has just been talking down on the Pats. Mil Williams will finish outside the top 10 in pass rush win rate and have fewer than five sacks at 26 million per year. The Patriots are expecting him to hit one of those marks, but I have some questions about how well Williams will fare when he has to play more and without the Eagles defensive front around him. Yeah, I like the Eagles defensive front. That’s why they won the Super Bowl. But I’ll bring the front five back up and I’ll mention again Barour Landry Kavon Chason and the main one I’m going to bring it back up again and keep talking about it. Christian Barmore. Do we forget how good he was in 2023. One of the top defensive tackles. So when you have a guy that can break through the line of scrimmage and teams will have to worry about him. You have to double Barour. You’re gonna have to probably double Harold Landry. If Calevant Chaison is good, you got to worry about him, too. Williams will thrive because it’s only going to be one interior lineman blocking him. It’s like, oh yeah, well, maybe he he hasn’t played plus 50% snaps. Who cares? He’s a football player. He’s in shape. He’s going to be able to do it. And that when you only have one guy on you, he’s strong. He’s fast enough. And he’s good enough to beat that. So really, five sacks from Seth Walder, pass rush pass rush win rate is going to be bad. I I I don’t agree with that in the slightest. Milton Williams is going to be a great player this season for the Patriots. I’ll ask you guys because I think Seth Walder is a complete idiot for that take.
