It’s illegal to apply anything to the baseball other than rosin. Should’ve been called.
He did it one of the last two games too. The announcers even called it out. Weird that no officials have noticed.

No, an MLB pitcher cannot lick the ball; Rule 6.02(c)(1) prohibits a pitcher from touching their mouth or lips while in contact with the pitcher’s plate (the rubber) and then touching the ball, or from touching the ball after touching their mouth or lips. This action is an illegal pitch (or balk) and carries a penalty of an automatic ball on the first offense and removal from the game for subsequent violations

A few years ago my 10u team was in a long rain delay and the other team of degenerates starts throwing over baseballs for discussion, tic tac toe, and then this. When I saw that one, I put a stop to it. I still have the Lick My Balls ball and I’m starting to think there was a kid on that team that idolized Fermin.
