I’ll leave this here

  1. Your average MLB lineup averages about .5 runs per inning. Skenes averages about 6 innings per start, so it’s not unreasonable to expect 3 runs of support per start. Getting him up to 4 runs of support per start would require one of the most elite lineups in baseball.

  2. So insane. Imagine his record on a team like the dodgers. The owner better sign some help this off-season for skenes if they wanna give him a reason to stay.
Btw, I want him to stay, I hate seeing great players going to one of the top 5 teams to ring chase. It kills the sport. We need new contenders for the WS and I wanna see skenes win a few with the pirates.

  3. Skenes gets off easy. After all he’s only been unsupported for 50 games.

    Fans on the other hand.

  4. Not sure I would buy that entirely, because I think he has legitimately been lit up—well, by his standards—maybe 3 times in his career to this point. In other words I’m not sure 4 runs would have been enough in those 3 games. But I could buy that he would be 32-3. Which is, by the way, completely insane in the majors. I mean, those are Big Kid In Little League numbers.

  5. This is crazy.

( and I’m pretty sure I was at the game he would have lost…….. last year against the Dodgers in LA?)

  6. So what you’re telling me is that Skenes is a great pitcher but the Pirates bats suck? That is brand new information!!

  7. I saw this and it broke my heart, but the made me excited because Ryan is my random stranger on the internet crush.

  8. He’s going to win the Cy Young with such a low win total. And this team is finishing out the year strong. If they don’t make moves to dramatically improve the offense this offseason, they never will.

  9. 52 career starts now he’s got a 1.97 era, .94 whip. Lowest since 1920.
10th career start with 0 runs and 8k. Most since 2024.
195k tied for most in NL.

    Last 8 home starts: 5-0 .36 ERA, 58k 6bb, in 49.2IP.

  10. The kid has **AVERAGED** less than a baseball runner per inning through his career so far.

    0.94 whip
