🔴LIVE 🔴Philadelphia Phillies VS Miami Marlins/September 05/ Envivo TV /MLB THE SHOW 25
And now, please welcome first pitch coming at you right after the break. Miami about to get started here. And starting this one, Yuri Perez. And Singi, he likes pitching at home. Well, truly for him, there is no place like home. He’s been so dominant here. And as a teammate, you expect him when pitching at home this year to go out and dominate just as he has. The fans expect it, and I think everyone around here knows that he’s a good pitcher. Even though we don’t see the same splits on the road, we’re going to start to see that translate as well. And the batter will be the shortstop, Trey Turner. That’s too low. And we’re off and rolling in Miami. First pitch 710 and misses inside. That was absolute gas. Triple digits on the gun. It’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by. And that finds the mark on the outside corner and it’s two and one. It’s a tough pitch, but in terms of the best pitch you’re going to get to hit in the at bat, that fast ball was down enough where you’re going to catch up to one. That’s the one. When he elevates, guys aren’t touched it. And now the count is full and another power hitter lurking in the on deck circle. Swing and a popup. Foul territory for the catcher. Ramirez makes the grab and there’s one away. And time now for the Phillies lineup. A very athletic offensive group with speed spread throughout this offense. Yeah, and it’s so important that they have patient and quality at bats because the key is to get on base. If they do that, then they can create a whole lot of havoc on the base pass, get runners around to score and then that’s going to get you some good pitches to hit as well. So, a very athletic team and we should be in for a treat in this one. It’s not the standard approach that we see in today’s game, but it does work for them offensively. Kyle Schwarber in the box with one away as he takes ball one. That one a little bit high. And that’s ball two. And that’s too high. [Music] That’s in there. And the count is three and one. Thought the green light might be on right there, but maybe not. If you’re looking to swing in that count, that’s the pitch you want. And that’s in for a strike. Now three and two. And boy, that was the pitch. 3-1. You want to be really aggressive on the fast ball on the ground to first. He’ll do it himself. And that quickly two away Bryce Harper. Here’s Harper now. [Music] And first offering is fouled off. Just missed. And that one is in the dirt. Two and one. And there’s a ball. Was a good pitch there. Really had some run and finished. Little up and just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, you get a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. outside ball four and that’s how they get their first base runner of the game. JT Real Mutil steps in that one at the knees for a strike. Next offering is in for a strike. Perhaps not quite ready to hit. First two pitches by him for a couple of strikes. Now back is against the wall. He’s going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly. Two outs. Here’s a swing and a line drive and a base hit to right field. Throw stops the lead runner at second. Two on and two out. Good two strike hitting right there, Boo. A bit of a lost start for some. So that was nicely done to beat the odds. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. Brandon March in the box now. Takes strike one. Harper at second. Real Mutoo at first. Two out of the inning. Right side and that one finds its way through. Fires to the plate. Tag not in time. Safe on the board first. It’s one zip. Couple of singles back to back. Just one of those scene eye base hits through the infield. He just kind of rolled over on it a little bit, but sometimes those can find a hole and get you a knock. First and second, two outs. And here’s the veteran outfielder, Harrison Bader. First pitch misses. At this point, the clean inning is over. Got to settle in, focus on the hitter, and get out of it with minimal damage. Two outs, couple of base runners at first and second. Swing and a miss. That one at 99. And that’s strike one. It’s great to get on the board in the first frame of the ball game, but here’s an opportunity for them to really open things up with a couple of runners on. Let’s see if they can cash in. Got him. That ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand. Two men left stranded, but they do push across one. Onto the bottom of the first. It’s the Phillies one and the Marlins coming up. Back here at Lone Depot Park and towing the slab, Ranger Suarez. Tell us about him in that sub3 ERA. Singy. Well, anytime you can keep your ERA under three, you’re doing a lot of things right and you’re putting your team in a position to win a lot of ball games as well. And he’s doing tremendous out there on the mound. Every time he gets the ball, you expect him to go out there and dominate. And that’s what he’s been to this point. We’ll see how he is today. And now for the Marlins. Xavier Edwards. When the season is over, he’ll set a new careerh high for runs scored. And he bunts, but that’s a foul ball. Swings through that one. [Music] Line drive caught. batting. And let’s take a look at the lineup. A really frustrating showing for them in their last game. Lots of traffic on the bases, but they left a ton of runners on base. Couldn’t cash in their chances. Chris, they had plenty of chances. There’s nobody to blame it on but themselves offensively. They just did a poor job converting in those situations. You have to figure out what’s your plan going to be. Maybe watch some tape from the last game. Make the adjustments. So if you get those opportunities in this one, you’ve got a much better chance of scoring some runs. Augustine Ramirez, the next to hit, takes ball one. Really close pitch down around the knees there. And you could see him asking where it missed. Probably doesn’t agree, but it appears he’s ready to move on to the next pitch. That one ripped, but foul. One out. Base is empty. Worm Burner into the outfield for a knock. So, a man aboard now with one away. Back against the wall with two strikes, but found a way. Really good swing right there. He got a pitch that he knew he could handle. allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. Jacob Marcy getting ready to hit and that misses and that’s ball one man at first one away. And that is downstairs. Ball two. Last two pitches have been down in the zone. Pitcher clearly trying to get that ground ball double play, but in this count, he’s going to have to give in. Elevate his pitch. Ramirez dives and can’t get back in time. He’s picked off. So much for their first hit right there. Good move. And he had him leaning all the way. Two out. Space is empty. Next pitch is outside. And there’s the automatic. That’s ball four. tried another fast ball but missed the spot. One of the things about that two-out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So, a ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI. And those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. Now, a chance for Otto Lopez. [Music] Come on, Otto. swing and a tapper that rolls foul. Ripped on the ground to second and that will end the inning. Marlins leave one and it remains one- nothing. Second inning set to go. And here is Max Kepler. Phillies Perez back to work. Misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. Nowadays, with advanced metrics and increased use of moving the infielders around, defense isn’t necessarily about making errors. Are you able to get to the ball? Are you able to position fielders where hitters hit the ball, but within the new shift rules, the wind, the kick, the two right through there for a strike. And an area that goes unnoticed is the coach that’s responsible for positioning. and then uh the research person that’s providing the information. So, what we’re seeing in baseball, so many more people behind the scenes that are contributing to the success between the lines. Cut on and miss. Curve ball struck him out. Chris, as we look back at the pitch sequence, he hadn’t seen that curveball at all. How tough is it to adjust to something like that with a bunch of break when you haven’t had a look at it yet? Yeah, I mean, you’re dialed up for something firm. You never want to take a called third strike as a fast ball. So, you’re going to be a little anxious before you recognize the pitch. And right there, clearly didn’t see what was coming. Alec Bow at the plate now as he chases after that one. Back when you played, it wasn’t the empirical data we have now. It was a guy with a ruler and a diamond taking a colored pencil and drawing a line where he thought someone had hit the ball. Right. that or just going off of gut or field. What does it look like his swing is today? What’s the pitcher throwing? They are sticking to the metrics and what seems to be most consistent for that hitter regardless of who the pitcher is on the mound. On the ground to third, tosses to first. Two up, two down in the top of the second. batting non base. This is Bryson Scott. He’s already set a new career best for stolen bases in a season. Chris headed towards the corner and that is a foul ball. tied him up inside with that one. Just not able to catch up to that velocity. Goes down looking down quickly. Go to Phillies. They lead it one- nothing. Bottom half of inning number two and at the plate for Miami, Ariberto Hernandez. Hernandez. That’s down and in. Line drive. That’s a base hit. Off to a good start with a leadoff nine. Nice line drive to the pull side right there, but he didn’t spin off of it. That’s the key. You still have to extend through the baseball in order to hit a line drive like that. And now a chance to maybe get creative on offense with good speed on first. Next is the designated hitter, Connor Norby. Third baseman playing on the edge of the grass looking for the sack bun. And the first pitch misses for ball one. And that drops in for a strike [Music] [Applause] right through there for a strike with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. [Music] And it’s even up. Well, he might have to look for a different putaway pitch right here. 22. He’s already seen the curve ball couple of times in this at bat, so might have it timed up and ready for it. Here’s a 2-2. Highfly ball down the left field line. Marsh running hard, tries to make the play, but it’s fouled. Definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside. Really think the outer half is open to the right side, but it kicks foul. Fights it off. He’ll see another grinding AB right here. About to see pitch number 10. Swinging a ball drilled in the air towards right center field. He’s got it and there’s one away. Every day during batting practice, these outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls in the gaps. They practice this and when the game comes, they make the play perfectly. And up next for Miami, Eric Wagaban. That one finds the zone and that is strike one. Hernandez at first. One gone. Swinging a ball driven out to center. Bader on the move. Racing back and it bangs off the top of the wall around third. The relay to the plate. He’ll score and they’ve tied it. It’s 1-1. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of this struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. Joey We up for the Marlins. And that one just misses a ball and no strikes. That one out to right and that’s a foul ball. Check swing now. will look down to first. And yes, he did. He went around. Spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another. One out and a runner at second. Bottom half of inning number two. On the ground to first. And he handles it himself for the out. Good fade and sinking action of that change up. got that hitter to roll over. Javier. So, the go-ahead run in scoring position. Javier Senoha the next up for the Marlins. This at bat might not seem like a huge deal right now, but baseball is a game of moments. And what happens here could change everything. The other way. He’s got it. And that’ll end the inning. Marlins get a run on the RBI double. All even at one a piece. Back after this on the show and we’re back. Trey Turner at the plate. If you don’t get ahead in the count, you can forget about having any success against him. And the first pitch misses for ball one. They partnered. Back in 2023, Turner homered off the same pitcher twice in the same inning. Only a few players have ever done it, and his were against his former team, the Washington Nationals. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound in this situation ahead 20. He’s put himself in a really good spot. Just off the outside edge and it’s 3 and 0. That’s a strike across the top of the zone. Next pitch in for a strike. Three and two now. in the air out towards left center. Carous and there’s one down. Man, is he fast. That is so fun to watch. And Kyle Schwarber will come up. He’s not going to get cheated up there. No, he’s not. He’s looking to do damage with every swing he takes. First pitch and that’s in for a strike. Schwarber 32 years old and he’s usually in the outfield. Today he’s the DH. Missed with a change up. One and one. The one-1 is fouled off. One down, base is empty. Foul ball still a one and two count. The wind to the pitch. And that’s way high and the count is even. Two and two. Way to lay off that fast ball up right there. You’re looking for something you see well that you can handle, but you also have to keep the discipline so that you’re not popping up pitches that are just a little too high. Swings and miss has struck him out. Here comes Bryce Harper. walked his first time. He swings and fouls one off. [Music] That one’s upstairs. Ball one. right through there for a strike. Goodness, I think he just took the best pitch he’s going to see in this at bat. You don’t get many like that in that location. I don’t know if you take that pitch against any pitcher out there on the mound. And a swing and a miss. Beat him with a fast ball. Phillies down in order. Score remains deadlocked at one back here in Miami. And now it’s the switchhitting second baseman Xavier Edwards. Xavier Edwards. Had a strike in there. Highf fly ball out towards left center. Mars on the move. Hauls it in for the owl. And there’s one down. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He’s saved extra bases for sure. If the pitcher’s his friend, he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. Ramirez batting with one down takes the strike and that one is downstairs and that’s ball one. And there’s a ball. swings through that. This guy’s got such a good sinker. As a hitter, you’ve got to look up in the zone. If you look down, you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. And that’s ball three. That’s one you always want as a pitcher down at the knees. And it looks to me like he’s barking. That’s a strike. Doesn’t change the call, but sometimes it helps to let that frustration out a little bit. on the ground right side. Gets it to first and there’s two away. Well, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Jacob Marcy the next up for the Marlins. Worked a walk in his first trip to the plate. Miami. That one ripped going. Gone. Home run number five on the season. It’s 2-1. Wasn’t fooled on the first pitch at all. He squared it up right away. [Applause] A good hitter gets pitch recognition early. He saw exactly where that was going to be. The challenge, not get over anxious and come out of your swing. He stayed on it and got all of it. Lopez stands in now and watches strike one. Two down to just off the inside edge. Two outs. Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. gets a piece and stays alive and a base hit and that keeps the inning going. Now batting Ariberto Hernandez the next up for the Marlins. One for one with a single and a run scored so far. And that one is inside. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Tanner Banks getting loose out there. Stum also throwing. Move to first. Lopez dives back in safely. swinging a ground ball. Boom. Throws on to first. That ends the inning. One for the Marlins on the solo shot. And this is now a 2-1 ball game. You’re dialed into the show and welcome back to the ballpark. John Shami with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, JT Realm Muto Miami. Swanging a miss. It’s 0 and one. He’s been pitching well, but we’ll see what kind of adjustment the hitters make this second time through the order. We’ll know if he’s got really good stuff in this one or not. And he gets that fast ball by him upstairs. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Down to the dirt, swinging a miss onto first. Gets him. One away on a drop. Third strike. Really love the pitch sequence right there. I’m telling you what, pitcher and catcher on the same page right now. Brandon Marsh steps to the plate. RBI single his last time up. And that’s way high. One and0. [Music] One down. Phillies down a run. Ripped to third and caught. It put a really good swing on that pitch and hit the ball hard. You know, line drives won’t always find a hole, but the more you can hit the ball like that with good exit vo, the better off you’re going to be in the long run. So, here’s Bader now. He was a strikeout victim his first time. And that drops in for a strike. That one fouled off. [Music] Fights that one away and the count remains 0 and2. trying to hold a one-run lead. Top half of inning number four and that skips in the dirt. Fouls it off. Still one and two. bounced to the right side and that’s just foul. Two down to a breaking ball misses outside [Music] of the ground to third onto first and that is that. Phillies go down quietly in the inning and our score remains 2-1. So a lefty out of the pen, Tanner Banks still pretty early in the ball game. So this bullpen has some work ahead of him. Best case scenario might be if he can come in here and get several quick outs, kind of bridge the gap that starter left for him. Let’s go Marlins. Norby takes a ball as he stands in for the second time. That’s in there. [Music] Hit in the air out to center field. Hauls it in for the out. And there’s one down. Now betting number 33. And now for the Marlins, Eric Wagaman. He doubled home a run in his first AB. And that’s a strike. There’s the swinging a miss. No balls. Two strikes. That’s a ball. Tried to attack with a sweeper. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. And that’s a fair ball. man at first with one gone. And now the right fielder Joey Wemer, he’s 0 for one. The kick and the pitch. Runner goes popped up to the left into foul ground. Catcher tosses the mask, settles under it, reaches over the wall, and he’s got it. Got the pitch that he wanted. Just a little bit quick. Front shoulder open, backside collapsed a little bit, and the launch angle not where he needed it to be. at the plate. Javier Senoha just missed. Wagaman leads off first with two down to the inning. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. Left field way back there. And that should be extra bases coming home. The relay, but it’s offline. It’s 3-1. Well, that’s a lonely feeling for an outfielder. The read wasn’t great and it really hurts when it cost your team a run. [Applause] So the lineup flips over Xavier Edwards the next up for the Marlins for two in this one late on that fast ball. Runner at second. Two down. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. And there’s a breaking ball that drops in there. And that one is inside ball one. Really good take especially with two strikes. This to center field and it drops in. The run comes in from second. It’s an RBI single. It’s 4-1. Well, that certainly feels good when you can win the atbat after being down in the count up against it with two strikes right there. These days, most outfielders play pretty deep. And I’m not sure if that was a factor there or not, but off the bat, you’re thinking it’s going to be a pop out. And it just kind of nestled into that spot where no one was able to get to it. And now here is Augustine Ramirez. That one sizzling on its way through to the outfield. And out to a board. Now batting number 87. Manager out of the dugout. And he’s going to make a change. Tanner Banks done for the night. And the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this. Well, new pitcher will be the lefty Matt Stum. And one thing on him, he’s been really good this season at keeping the ball in the park. Not an easy guy to take deep. And a dangerous hitter coming to the plate. Marcy the next to hit. He’s already homered in this game. Two on, two outs. up the middle and that chance handled. Offbalance throw in time. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. So, it’s two runs on four hits, no errors and a couple left on. We’re headed to the fifth. It’s the Marlins four and the Phillies one. We’re back and there’s a new arm on the mound to start the fifth. Michael Peterson. He’s been so good against lefties. Number 45, Michael. Max Kepler at the plate. He struck out swinging at his first atielder Max Kepler. clips the corner going and one. You know, these Phils just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game. So many of their outs have come from weak contact on pitches they’re chasing outside of the strike zone. You can’t do much of anything with those locations. And that’s been true again today. And now one and two. And as a pitcher, when the hitters are swinging at everything, you feel no need to challenge inside the zone. You just keep working the corners and expanding that strike zone and beyond. And they just keep eating right out of your hand. That one missing inside. Here’s a high-fly ball out to center. Marcy sizes this one up, makes the grab. One up, one down. Now that third base and now it’s Alec Bow grounded out his first time up. Come on, you can do it. That’s outside. Ball one. [Music] And a big swing and a miss. Pitching has been pretty dominant in this one, but you got to be careful. Not working with too big a lead. They could get right back in this ball game if you’re not careful. sneaks through base head and they have their first hit since the first inning. Up next for Philadelphia, second base Bryson stands in for the Phillies. Went down looking on three pitches last time. Let’s see if he can be a little more aggressive right here. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Yeah, this team is definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But, you know, at the very least, if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first, it feels like it’s really important to getting back into this ball game. Hammered, base hit. Quick throw back in. Lead runner holds it second with one gone. The first move felt like a bit of a guess. You have to be right in those spots or things can get away from you awfully quickly. Up steps Trey Turner in a pivotal spot and he swings and misses and it’s nothing and one Tying run at the plate. in for a strike and it’s 0 and two. The shorts stop takes a ball [Music] [Applause] couple sliders away gets that hitter to really start looking and even leaning out over the plate. Very susceptible for the two seamer here. and see what he throws. This one lifted in the air. Left field makes the grab for the second out. Up next for Philadelphia, their designated hitter, Kyle Schwarber. And now Kyle Schwarber steps up in a critical moment. First round pick out of Indiana back in 2014. and fouled off. Swung on. Belted. That one’s deep. Out of here. That one’s got to feel good. Home run number 50 on the year. And we are tied. It’s 44. When you’re working with this kind of velocity, so critical that you move the ball around, work quickly, and make sure that you keep that hitter off balance. Clearly not fooled by the location or the velocity. He was all over that fast ball. Now the Marlins manager out of the dugout, and he’ll make a move to the pen. Michael Peterson won’t go any further and it’s a tie ball game as he heads for the dugout. Back with a new arm after a quick break. New pitcher on now, Adam Maser. Well, he’s been hit pretty hard at times this season as you see with the big erra. So, this is an important outing for him to get on the right track. So it’s all tied up thanks to the home run and digging in for Philadelphia. Bryce Harper check swing called strike. Ball game is still tied. They can get out of this inning with a tie game. [Music] swing and a miss as he was late that time. Gosh, a little late on that breaking ball. I don’t think he recognized it out of the hand. Just a little tardy. Going to have to regroup here. [Applause] And a foul ball. He stays alive. [Music] swing and a ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit and that keeps the inning alive. Big knock there to keep the inning alive and an opportunity to put something in the gap and give the Phillies the lead. And now it’s JT Rio Muto one for two. Hard hit, base hit. And now first and second with two outs. And that moves the go-ahead run to scoring position with two gone. Always feels amazing getting a job done when the team needs you to come through. It’s just bigger than your own individual stats. Fast ball pretty much middle middle and that’s what you fall asleep dreaming about as a hitter. So no surprise he put a great swing on it. Now that sets up a huge at bat in this ball game. Go ahead run on base. March digs in now. Tap foul at the plate. [Music] Right side hard hit. Tosses to first. They limit the damage here. But the biggest swing of the inning comes right here. A threerun homer. All even now at four apiece. Major League Baseball is on the show back here at Lone Depot Park. Bottom of the inning now. Here’s the cleanup hitter for Miami. Otto Lopez. Late swing fouled off. Here we go. And that one fouled off. And that’s way high. Now one and two. Let’s go. The shorts stop takes a ball. [Applause] [Music] Tied at four. That misses the zone. Full countdown. That’s a really good take. Ariberto Hernandez in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. It’s a leadoff walk and that’s the go-ahead run. That’s a tough one to swallow right there. If you’re on the mound, you’re ahead in the count 02 and you just couldn’t find a way to put him away. It’s going to be frustrating if that one comes back to bite him. If you’re a base runner, you got to stay dialed in here. Look for anything in the dirt. Try your best to get into scoring position. Runner on the go. Swinging a miss. Ri Muto throws not in time. It’s a stolen base. Now the go-ahehead runs in scoring position. So big opportunity for them to jump ahead late. Lopez stands at second with no outs. Next offering in there for a strike. No balls, two strikes. man at second and a swing and a miss. One away. He came out of his mechanics there. Typically likes to shoot the ball the other way, but that time a little anxious. Conor Norby. So the go-ahead run in scoring position. Now here’s the Marlins DH. Connor Norby, third baseman, playing on the edge of the grass, looking for the sack bunt. Pitch misses inside and that is ball one. Swinging a foul back and that’s out of play. the 1-1. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. Lopez around third. He’ll score and it’s an RBI single. 54 now as they take the lead. Puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI. I know that was a ground ball, but it was absolutely hammered through the infield. That’s not one you’re excited to get in front of if you’re an infielder. You know, they used to say charge it. Crazy. And now they’ve got some speed on first. So, we’ll see if they try to get him into motion. Stum keeping him close. Stum has a pretty cool hobby. Collects baseball cards of players who hit home runs off of them. I love the reason he does it. He tells people, “If you hit a home run against me, you’re good enough to collect.” Wagaban stands in now, looks at that one inside. I love this part of the game. Does he really want to try and steal second against this catcher? I know he’s fast, but it’s pretty risky. Ground ball right side could be two. Scott over to first in time. Got the out. Now batting right fielder Joey We Now it’s the right fielder Joey We swing and a foul out of play. Here comes the 01. And that one upstairs. Ball one. Got the bat going too soon. It’s strike two. Look out. And it hit him. He had him one two and he ends up hitting him with a pitch. Javier Senoha the next up for the Marlins. That’s towards center. Bader should have it. and makes the grab and the inning is over. But they pick up one run on the RBI single. It’s now a 54 ball game. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Welcome back. And here comes the closer, Ronnie Enriquez. Well, he’s the guy they hope to turn to out of the pin to lock down wins. So, this game has gone to plan, more or less. Let’s see if he can wrap it up here. Harrison Bader. Bader up for the third time here. Watches that one miss. Swing and a miss. And it’s one and one. [Applause] swing and a miss. Struck him out. Some high cheese for strike three. That’s tough. You see it well. I mean, that was clearly up and out of the strike zone. But that’s one of the hardest things. But when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level, that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch. If I can see it really well at eye level, I can’t catch up to that pitch. When a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity in the air right field pretty well struck carrying well gone. He circles the bases. Home run number 15 on the year. It’s 55. He only needed one swing to square it up. Not wasting any time in that at bat. Boo. Aggressive and it paid off. Well, he went up there O looking to do damage. I think he had his sight set on that pitch. He went and got it and circled the bases. So, it’s all tied up thanks to the home run. Now the third baseman, Alec Bow. First pitch and he just misses. [Music] Crushed left center field. This one’s deep. Forget it. They do it again. Backto back homers. Home run number 10 on the year. It’s 65. He put a charge into that one. That was a lightning swing right there. No doubt about it. Backto back jacks and this club is fired up right now. Boog. I mean, this is the kind of thing where you really start to notice hitters in a lineup feeding off each other and the collective confidence just continues to grow. Now, the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Ronnie Enriquez won’t go any further tonight and he leaves in a one-run game. New pitcher coming on. We’ll be back in a minute. New pitcher for the Marlins, Kade Gibson. And compared to a lot of other relievers, strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year. So, the defense should be active. And here is Bryson. Stop. swings through that one out in front that time. Gibson, a 6-2 Southpaw, 27 years old, and he was a 10th round pick in 2022. Just missed. Signs of activity in the pen for the Marlins. Calvin Foscher, the hardthrowing righty is up and loosening. Soraniano warming up as well. Back and forth we go. A seessaw battle in the late stages of this one. [Music] Breaking ball misses down and away. Out to short. Lopez. Now a jump throw in time. Got him. Now that short train turn two down, base is empty. Here’s Turner. Now that one clips the outside corner. That’s strike one. The shorts stop takes a ball. That one way inside. Straighten him up a little bit. We got a full count. [Music] That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. Well, he opted to go with the off speed stuff on that 32 with the bases empty. Close pitch, but now he’s got to work out of the stretch. Turner runs pitch in for a strike. Safe at second. And he easily steals the bag. [Music] [Music] pitch misses. It’s a ball in two strikes. Now a will bullet to second base, but he’s got it to end the inning. But two round tripers in this inning. The long ball was working. It’s tightened up a bit at 65. Now you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. We’re back and on the mound is the closer Yan Duran. Well, you see the RA very solid and that doesn’t always tell you the whole story, but he’s been really good so far this year. Back to the top of the order. Xavier Edwards now at the plate. Xavier Edwards. Swing and a pop off in foul ground. He’s under it and there’s one away. Now batting number 50, Augustine Ramirez will hit next. That one’s in there. That’s strike one. Swing and a miss. And he got him to chase. Swing and a miss. That’s a strikeout. And the Marlins with just one out left. Well, obviously that was nowhere near the strike zone by the time it got to the plate and people at home watching are thinking, “What’s he swinging at?” But I’ll tell you, some of the break guys snap off these days is just devastating. It can be so tough to recognize where a pitch like that’s going to end up. Now, here is Jacob Marcy. There’s the strike. a onerun lead. The home team trying to pull it out. The next pitch misses. Ball one. Little bit low on the ground. Right side. Throw to first, ball game, and the Phillies hold on to win a tight one as this one ends as a one-run ball game. This team secures a winning season with the W today. And regardless of what else happens the rest of the way, you know that you’re a winning ball club. So, a little bit of pressure off, put your foot on the gas, and just see where you can finish from this point on.
