DL Cam Heyward Returns To Practice Friday

  1. Lol posted at the same time as the interview where he said he wasn’t sure if he’s playing or not.

  2. People letting posturing during a contract negotiation affect their opinion of a Steelers great, likely ring of honor member, and a guy whose teammates elected as captain amidst this hold-in, is absolutely bananas to me. Cam has been great for this team and fan base. He’s more than earned the right to ask to be paid relative to his defensive line peers.

And the kicker is there’s very little reporting on what he’s asked for besides guarantees past 2025. I’d take that as a positive sign because it signals he wants the team to commit beyond 2025 because Cam is committed beyond 2025.

He is currently the 24th ranked IDL by AAV, but just earned AP1 in January. That would mean he’s a top 3-5 DL in the league. Pay that man. And for anyone clamoring for Cam to honor the contract he signed, I would say no player should honor their contract they signed until all ownership honors every contract they sign.

Until that day, let em negotiate.

  3. Retire or get off the team dude. Either you wanna be there or not. No one will pay him more than us. He’s too old.

  4. I’ve always said for years that what pisses me off the most about how the Steelers handled Ben’s twilight years and the years following was that great players like Cam, TJ, and Minkah never got a ring. This throws all of that out the window. Cam has probably made more money than any Steelers defensive player in history not named TJ Watt. I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve it, but you sign a new contract and less than a year later want a new new one? Why at this point in his career he’s still chasing money and not rings is beyond me. Always thought he deserved a ring more than anyone but turns out he doesn’t really care about that. We’ll see if he actually plays Sunday.

  5. I still believe this all ends if the Steelers just promise (in writing) to honor the contract they signed Cam to last year.

  6. Steelers fans here having a hard time accepting that players play and agents negotiate, Heyward isn’t doing anything out of the ordinary for his situation, neither is the club. This is all media drivel to talk about something, anything negative when it comes to this team.

None of this affects the relationship with his teammates, nor reflects on his comments regarding Aaron.
