NBA LIVE! Los Angeles Lakers vs Oklahoma City Thunder September 6, 2025 | 2025 NBA Season Live 2K

Heat. Heat. N. [Music] Thunder Lakers. We’ll be right back for the tip. So, here’s Oklahoma City’s starting group. Hongren plays at the four with Hartinstein at the center spot. Gilgis Alexander runs things with Gord to his side and it’s Williams at the three side. So tonight, Tim, we got a fantastic match up at the guard position. Indeed, some of the best in the league going headto head. Yeah, this is the very top of the food chain when it comes to guard play in this league. Really no weaknesses out there for either back court. Mm- Shot clock at six. near the three-point line. It’s Tons Thunder with the rebound. And now, let’s send it over to our courtside reporter, Ally Leforce. I did briefly speak with JJ Reic. We talked about Jaylen Williams and what he wanted to see from his team defensively against him. He told me we just have to be aware of where he is at all times. The second you lose sight of him, that’s when they’ll tort you. We all got to be on the same page. It seems like Williams will be a central focus for them tonight. Back to you. Thank you, Ally. Now Reeds after the miss three from Shay Gilas Alexander. Pass to Hatchima. [Applause] [Music] Back to Reeds and it’s off from three-point range. Oklahoma City has gone one and two from long range in the first quarter. Now Williams Hardenstein with the screen on Eightton. Williams kicks to SGA. Good. Great play by Williams to set it up. Gilis Alexander’s got six points. This is why SGA is a focal point of this offense because of that ability to score. Bounce pass from Reeves. The three for Donic. And again, no good by the Lakers. [Applause] [Music] Reeves against Dort. And the whistle blows. It’s going to be on Luca Donuch. That is his first foul of the game. Personal foul. First team foul. [Applause] Pass to Hartinstein. Kicks it out to Homegrren. And again, Oklahoma City with the triple. And with that threat of the outside jumper, Homer generates space for this offense. [Music] [Applause] Reeves finds its [Music] outside. [Applause] Reeves outside. Shoots over Dort. Reeves can’t hit. You’re not going to see that very often. Plenty of space, but he just, let’s face it, he whiffs on that one. Growing up in Arizona, Jaylen Williams, Jim, was not an elite prospect. Well, most stars in this league were blue chip recruits coming out of high school, but Kevin, not Williams. He spent three years in college developing his game, and he has worked his way into an allar outside. Williams [Applause] D. Well, that is a nice challenge at the rim. Really altered that shot. Reeves in the corner. Back to James and the layup’s good off the glass. A monster down low. LeBron James the rare package of skill, size, and athleticism. It’s Williams high post working on James. The Thunder with another miss. Lakers trail by four. Pass to Eightton and it’s Hachi Murray in the corner. Back to Eightton. LeBron against Dort. Six on the shot clock. Los Angeles needs to get off a shot here. And that one’s good. Hachimar just solid with the jump shot. Hachimuro helps their offense in a number of ways. In that case, spacing the floor. Oklahoma City moving it around. [Applause] Reeves against Gilgus Alexanders. Here are the Lakers with the ball. Good momentum. Eight straight points. [Applause] Pass to Homegrren out to the wing. Now here’s Dor over in the corner. Williams and a great assist by Kilis Alexander as that one goes in and he likes to get in a rhythm early. Nice triple and so JJ Reick will call a timeout. He’s ready to talk things through with him. We know about Homegrren’s exceptional play defensively, but Tim, talk about his offensive game. Well, he’s incredibly versatile, Kevin. He can score down low. He can handle the basketball. Shoots the three. [Applause] Oklahoma City on deep. They lead by four. Inside, it’s stolen by Hartinstein. Gilis Alexander surveying the D. Props in the layup for two. SGA’s got eight points. And good work inside. SGA will make more room for himself on the perimeter when he can be effective down low. Reeves finds James [Music] left side. Just five on the clock. On deep Reeves. It’s rebounded by Hartinstein. And Gilis Alexander’s got the ball here for Oklahoma City. Six-point game and slam dunk by SGAA. Oh, how about the slam there from Gilis Alexander and he loves getting that type of positioning down low. Donic dishes to James. No one near Reeves as he lets it go. No good again that time. Pass to Williams. Now Dort. Back to Williams. Dort with a screen for Williams. Takes a shot at the elbow. It’s held in by Los Angeles. James left side to the left wing. Aimura kicks to Donic. Eight. A screen on SGAA. From deep reads the Thunder pull it in. Hartinstein’s got his fourth rebound in this one. [Music] SGA with the ball now guarded by the pass to Hartinstein. [Music] Shoots over Donic. Lands soft on the front of the rim and drops. And now a 10-point Oklahoma City lead. I like their focus coming in. Terrific execution so far. And from the opening tip, they’ve been locked in. Just look at the score. That tells you all you need to know. And so JJ Reick will call a timeout. And Smart subbed in for Austin Reeds. And then for Oklahoma City, Wiggins is checked in for Hartinstein. Alex Crusoe comes in for Jaylen Williams. And Wallace subed in for George. [Applause] Thunder on D. 10-point lead. Smart finds Cleveland. Back to Smart. Six to shoot. Bucket is good. And the total pack is James is so much fun to watch. The Thunder have gone seven of 13. Just over 50% from the floor. Some good looks. Julius Alexander passes to Homegrren and there’s the call on James. That’s his first foul and the Lakers making a change here. Arabius checked in and Oklahoma City with a change here too. Isaiah Joe, he’s checked in for SGAA. [Applause] Now here’s from the ark. It’s good for his second make. He’s made two of three so far. And stretching out his shot from deep. Hungren has developed some pretty solid range. Pass to Donic. Back to Smart. Lets the three fly and Homegrren pulls it down. And here are the Thunder. Now it’s a 12-2 run here. Good pace. And now we’re being joined by our 2K insider Shirani who’s calling in with a good story. Sean, what do you have? Well, we saw a transformation with Luca over the summer as he committed himself to getting in the best shape of his life. And a much leaner Luca started showing up in late July shortly after he recruited Marcus Smart to the Langers. No doubt about it, guys. Luca has something to prove this season in a big way. You got it. Making the commitment. All right, Johns, we appreciate the report. Here’s Wallace after Luca Donuch’s bucket. Back to Wallace. Pass to Caruso. Just five to shoot. Wiggins. That’s a screen for Caruso. Hangs home the trifecta. And the Thunder lead by 12. Yeah, they’ve built up this lead three points at a time. Yeah, when you string triples together, it adds up quickly. Now, here’s Smart still yet to score. [Applause] And here is Vanderbilt near the three-point line. It’s Donic. It’s Chad Homegrren with the rebound. On offense, here are the Thunder. They’re on a 15 to four run. Two minutes. Here’s Donic and the layup falls. Donic has got seven points and inside Luca knows the bucket is there so he is willing to fight for it. Pass to Homer. 136 left to play in the first quarter. The shot from the low post is good. Eight points for him. Their play on both ends has been superb. We We’ll see if they can maintain the momentum. Well, the score reflects it. They’ve just been the better team all the way around. The Thunder leading by 12. Here’s Joe. Vanderbilt with the rebound. They’ve been looking out of sync offensively. Yeah, that their offense has ground to a standstill. Here’s Smart. That shot no good. Nice defense from Waltz. Oklahoma City shooting 56% in this first quarter. An outstanding start for this offense. Joe passes to Caruso. Hungren outside [Applause] to the middle and it’s going to be out of bounds. The Thunder will retain possession. Williams, he’s checked in for the Thunder. Williams comes in for Isaiah Joe. Williams. Williams. Oh. There’s 21 seconds left in the first quarter. That’s just unlucky. You don’t mind him taking that shot at all? [Applause] And here’s Donic from the arc. And so it’s Oklahoma City up by a dozen here at the end of the quarter. Their strategy has been clear tonight. Work the ball inside, get shots in the paint, and now they are scoring with ease. We’ll return shortly. [Applause] [Applause] and glad to have you with us folks. Second quarter of basketball. This game has not exactly been neck and neck, but plenty of time left in this one. What do you guys think so far about the offensive approach for Oklahoma City? And they look to fire as much as possible from outside the arc. And so far they are hitting at a high foot. And what a great job they have done sharing the ball. This is what team basketball looks like and I love to see it. Jared Vanderbilt out there with Jake Larabia. Then there’s Smart. Then it’s Austin Reed. And it’s Cleba in the center filling out the middle. That’s the group for the Lakers to start the second quarter. And let’s go to the sideline. And here’s Ally. Thanks a lot, guys. The Lakers going out and acquiring superstar talent. And Luca Donuch, LeBron James said, “Everything I do on the floor, Donic has the ability to do it or even do it better. That’s how great he is. Even at his young age, he’s such a unique special player, a generational talent.” Kevin, back to you. They’re clearly happy to have him. Ally, as always, we appreciate your reporting. NGA, a lot of the best defensive teams in the league have some stout zone looks they can go to. Where do those in a game come in handy? I mean, often it’s a way of challenging opponents to make perimeter shots, but also you want to show different looks just to kind of disrupt the rhythm of a team’s offensive flow. Reeves with it. Wallace covering and the foul called on Kase Wallace. That is his first foul of the game. Second team. [Applause] Vanderbilt. The pass to Reeves. Come to me. Come to me. Pocket six. He’s looking for Williams and finds him and his active hands right there prevented that entry pass. Wallace kicks to Williams [Applause] from the arc. And again, Oklahoma City no good. Lakers trail by 10. Smart with the ball now defended by Wiggins. Here’s Larabia offline with this three. And you could tell he thought that triple was going to fall. Pass to Williams. Here’s Caruso and it’s good. Assisting on the play was Williams. Williams has got three assists in the game. The Lakers shooting 32% overall right now. Not one of their better showings. [Applause] Outside Smart Pass to Labia tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark. The Thunder lead by 13. Caruso kicks to Wiggins. No good on the triple. Los Angeles has gone 02 from deeper on the second. Took him no time at all on that one. Re has got himself going there. His first points of the game on the deep ball. And Caruso’s got the ball here for the Thunder. 13 points was their biggest lead in the game. [Applause] Pass to Williams. goes back up, uses the glass that time and it’s good. Williams has got five now. When when you’re trying to claw your way back into a game, you cannot allow second chance opportunities. Well, it’s nearly impossible to chip away at a lead if you’re giving up offensive rebounds. Smart Reeves outside. Pass to Vanderbilt. No good there. And that would have cut it to single digits. Kick it out. Here’s Williams. There it is. His third basket. He’s taken seven shots to get those three. Yeah. And there it is again. On a lot of their possessions this first half, they’ve established great inside position. Reeves against Williams. Reeves outside. Clea with a screen on Williams on deep. Reeves. They get it again. Gets it to go from beyond the arm. Breeze has got six in the quarter. Well, he’s a guy they look to go to and now you see why. And so Mark Dagnol calls a timeout. He made the decision to huddle up with his guys and talk about strategy. [Music] [Laughter] Some changes for the Lakers. Koko’s checked in. And it’s connect in for Jake Laavia. And then for Oklahoma City, Chad Homegrren, he’s checked in for Jaylen Williams. And Shay Gilis Alexanders subbed in for Wiggins. [Applause] Los Angeles on D. They trail by 11. Wallace kicks to Homegrren. [Applause] And here’s SGAA. 10 points for him. Pocket four in close. It’s Gil Alexander. So this is SGA’s role. He’s out here to score and score often. It seems like Jake Hilddress Alexander Tim has the ball handling and finishing package of a player 6 in shorter. What he does at his size is really amazing. Yeah, I think he has the offensive game of a shorter player because he thought he was only going to be 6’1. He got to 66. So now you’ve got this incredible array of shot making around the rim with a much taller player. That is a difficult combination to deal with. So he had to readjust not only physically but mentally how he approached the game. Correct. Absolutely. It changed everything for his approach. Here’s Reeves after the made shot from Shay Gilis Alexander on the wing. Reeves. He’s guarded by Williams and he gets the whistle for the three second call. [Music] John Green has checked in for Jackson Hayes Hartinstein. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City leading by 15. Outside Dortonic [Applause] against Gilg Alexander over in the corner. Williams. Six to shoot over Vanderbilt and the shot is good. Dropping in off the front of the rim. Williams has got six here in this quarter. Unwilling to let up even for a moment. That’s his killer instinct. Just fanning the flames. Yeah, he can taste a win right now. He’s just trying to close it out. And now in transition, here’s Williams. Here we go. And that one is good. Williams has got 11. And and those are the kinds of plays that are just killing them right now. Donic looking it over in the corner. Vanderbilt with it. Payton sets the pick for Reeves. Shot to stop the run and Homegrren pulls it down. Homegrren’s got six rebounds in the game. Over in the corner, Dort. The shot’s good. Gilg Alexander making the play. Dors got his first bucket of the game and he’s on the board for three. And so JJ Reick will call a timeout. Coach is going to take a few minutes to regroup and go over the strategy. [Applause] Come on, please. Here’s Aton. Hasn’t made one yet. Pass to Connect. [Applause] Connect sends a screen for Donic. And the call is going to be Yes. Yes, it is an illegal screen. Uh beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. Also, the ball handler needs to wait until the screener’s feet are set. Liftoff, Mr. Dort, a one-way ticket to the rim. And with the depth of this Oklahoma City Thunder team, Tim, who’s an impact player on this roster that might fly a little bit under the radar? Yeah, Kevin, I think it’s Aaron Wiggins. I look at a guy that in any other situation, you might be able to average 15 to 18 points a game, but in Oklahoma City, he has sacrificed shots and minutes to be part of a winning team. And he competes every night. He does indeed. And he’s got such a great touch and feel around the basket. He made that reverse look easy. Connect sets a screen for Donic. Can they get it? Thunder with the rebound. And they just can’t find a way to end this thing. Nothing falling right now. They just need a spark. This is when your leaders have to step up and their balanced effort at both ends has hushed this crowd. I think everybody in here is in shock. In many ways, their team just hasn’t shown up. Now here’s Donic. He’s got seven. Pass to connect. Nice ball movement there by the Lakers. Shot clock at three. Puts up a deep three. It’s rebounded by Hartinstein. Hartinstein’s got his sixth rebound on the night. Outside SGA. Now Homegrren outside Gil Alexander over Donic. And there’s another one for the Thunder. well-rounded effort and and they show no signs of letting up. And because of that, this one looks like a bit of a mismatch. Hachimura finds Donic trying to break that ice gold streak and the layup is up and in. Donic has got nine. Once Donic gets inside with the ball, he’s halfway there. He’s under for three. Homegrren and he’s good on the three ball. He’s got 11. And playing up tempo prolevel ball can be hard for some guys, but homegrrim has easily made the transition. Now here’s a scoreless thus far. The three for Dunic and the rebound goes to the Thunderd number eight here tonight in the game. [Music] Pass to SGAA. [Music] Elbow shot. Here’s Homegrren. Takes a step back. Two minutes remaining in the first half. Gilas Alexander against LeBron. Dort misses. Not quite enough defense that time around. Just lucky he was off. Vincent the pass to LeBron. Bucket number three. He’s a perfect three for three to start. And nice touch from the inside. I I’m a fan of when LeBron just burrows his way inside and takes advantage. Now here’s Waltz. And a wide open look for SGA. Hands it from downtown. SGA’s got nine points in the quarter and he’s really made the most of his opportunities today. I mean, he needs to keep working for those kinds of looks. On the wing, James defended by Dort [Applause] near the three-point line. It’s Donuch off target from the wing. Oklahoma City’s gotten fond of that three-point shot here in the second quarter. Four of nine. Here’s Wallace. After two misses to start the game, he’s on the board with that shot made. I mean, the number of points they’ve scored in the paint already here is eyeopening. Aton kicks to LeBron and he slams it down right on top of Chad Holgren. Oh, okay. I guess LeBron wanted that one to sting a little. He put a little extra on that one. [Applause] Oklahoma City dictating the flow. We’ve got a 9-second difference between the shot clock and the game clock. Homer hits the bucket. And Matador defense, that’s one of the easiest shots he is ever going to see. And they are just breaking the will of their opponent. Hensson with it. He’ll just Alexander covering. [Music] Here’s James. Oh, he threw that one down. Goodness. Wow. Most players would give anything for that kind of vertical, but he’s not giving it away. He wants to keep it all for himself. Now, it is something special to be born with that kind of verticality. Jay Gilis Alexander, guys, has been on display for the Thunder. Setting up teammates and getting buckets. He is looking as determined as ever. We’ll take a quick break and then back to the action here. [Music] [Music] [Music] And with the second half upon us, we’ll find out if this game becomes the route that it’s threatening to be. You know, Shane Gilis Alexander has been exceptional here tonight, guys. And guys, we saw just how tough he can be with the step to the rim. Great job of just attacking that first half. Nothing in this league more difficult to defend than a welltimed weak side cut. Here’s LeBron. So, for Oklahoma City right now, Homegrren plays at the four with Hartinstein at the center spot. Gilgis Alexander runs things with Dort to his side and it’s Williams at the small forward. And Tim, the quintessential unstoppable force, Shay Gilis Alexander taking his offensive game to a level rarely matched in league history. Well, Kevin, I’m running out of superlatives. The ability to score at every level. He gets to the foul line. He makes guys better. I just marvel at the totality of it. Back to Dunic over SGA and it’s Dunic missing and at this point the defense is daring him to shoot. Here’s SGAA again. Oklahoma City. Well, he is really filling it up but also keeping others involved. And it’s Hacheim Murray in the corner and the Thunder pushing it up now. Hardenstein passes to Gilis Alexander. Some nice passing by Oklahoma City here. The kick out to Williams. Five on the clock. But Trey gets the three-pointer to fall. Williams has got 18 points in the game. And that’s a high percentage look when the D doesn’t fight over the screen. Yeah. And that’s the effectiveness of the twoman game right there. The three Dungeons hits it from three-point range. Mono emano. This is where it can get a little personal and within the bigger picture of the game, you have these individual matchups. Homegrren sets the screen for SGA. The kick out to Williams and a great assist by Kiljis Alexander as that one goes in. SGA’s got assist number eight here in this one already. Reeves outside. Aton in the corner. Pass to Donic. It’s stolen by Gilgish Alexander. Here’s Hongren. Great pass to set up the layin break. 15 points in the game. And I know everyone’s thrilled to see Homegrim scoring so well. And this is the kind of effort that could carry on well throughout the year. Now we’ll hear from Ally Leforce and she’s got a story for us, an update. Ally. Hey Kevin. Well, LeBron is keeping it going. He said, “I appreciate these young guys coming up in the ranks and doing great things. I hope to have inspired them to carry it on when I decide that I’m done and keep this beautiful game going. Not just the league, but the purity of the game. That is what’s most important.” Back over to you, Kevin. He’s left an imprint, no doubt. Thanks a lot, Ally. Five to shoot. Oklahoma City needs to get off a shot and Torch gets it to go. and everything is dropping for them. Terrific second half run. Well, whatever they talked about at halftime, it’s working now. Here’s Donic. Pass to Hatchima. Donic against SGA. [Music] Donic left side. That one’s off. Still out of sink. And here’s Gilgis Alexander. He’ll bring it up for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Since the second half started, they’ve only given up three points. [Applause] Driving inside for three and the Thunder. It’s been this way since halftime. Tremendous production from beyond the ark. They have found a weakness in the defense and it’s on their ability to defend the three-point line. Konic fires from way outside. Good. And the assist goes to LeBron. Konic has got 15. Pass to Hardenstein. Now here’s Williams. Dort kicks to Williams. Donic against Gilg Alexander. Homegrren can’t hit. LA has gone two of three when they ventured outside the ark in the third quarter. Good D by Homegrren. The Thunder have gotten nearly everything to drop this quarter. They’re seven of eight from the floor since halftime. SGA on the wing guarded by Donic. Williams in the post working on James on nice shot by Hartinstein. Well, he hasn’t had to carry the entire load tonight, but he can always flip that switch. Greg, last season the Lakers exceeded expectations by winning 50 games and finishing third in the West. They went on quite a run after acquiring Luca Duch, but they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. And as we know, this is an organization judged on championship success. And it’s Donic missing. And even though he didn’t get a piece of that shot, you love the pressure he puts on the shooter. And sometimes that’s all you need to do to force that miss. On a dime, Jay got right where he wanted for that shot. LeBron kicks to Donic from past the ark and the rebound goes to the Thunder. Homegr’s got 12 rebounds here tonight. Big time effort. Now here’s Gilas Alexander. 23 points in the game. Pass to Hartenstein. Here’s Williams. And the rejection by James. You got to keep an eye out for LeBron. He may be lurking. What a block that one was. Oklahoma City has gotten 12 of their points from long range in the third quarter going four of five shooting. Homegrren the pass to Williams [Music] to the inside to the paint. That shot is good. He’s taken 15 and made 10 from the field tonight. And really just unselfish basketball on the interior. That’s the kind of pass a coach loves to see. The dger James finds Donic. Reeves in the corner. Hachimura setting the pick for Reeves. And they call the foul. So he’s got the and one chance here to make it a three-point play. Yeah, I love that. He comes off the pick and takes it right to the hole. And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for Oklahoma City? Their accuracy in this one has just been on another level. I mean, the three ball keeps falling and the defense just hasn’t been able to run them off the line. And they’ve taken advantage of the turnovers they’ve created, pushing it every chance they get. So much easier to score when you get early looks. And you think of the different styles of play. Tim, is there one that you prefer watching? I personally like variety, Kevin. I like certainly three-point shooting. That’s how I made my living, but I also want to see postplay and I want to see teams that also can beat you with isolation sets as well. I think those are the toughest teams to defend. They can hit you from any area. They sure can. Near the three-point line, it’s Donuch. James on the follow. James has got 12. And because of his quickness, LeBron is hard to block out on the offensive glass. So strong. Wiggins sets a screen for Gilis Alexander over in the corner. Caruso. Pass to Wiggins and stolen by James. Donic outside. Offensive rebound. Vanderbilt. A screen on Wallace. Offensive rebound. Donic against Gilis Alexander. Tonic’s shot is good. Yeah, the D has not been able to keep the ball out of the paint at that end of the floor. Donic against SGA and no good that time. Nice D from Donic. James looking around down low. Donic kicks to Cleba. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Clea’s got his first three points of the game. He might not have the long range ability of some other guys, but he will knock down open ones like that. Stolen by Reeves. [Music] LeBron James on the wing. Wallace covering. Pass to Donic. Shoots over Caruso again. Los Angeles. And then when Luca sees the mid-range open up, he takes the shot. Keeping things simple. Now, Gilas Alexander. He’s got 25. And they call the foul. So, a chance at the line for one more coming up. And boy, did he ever sell the pump fake. Works to absolute perfection. He’s getting his first free throw attempt of the game here. And the Lakers with some changes. Jake Laavia checked in for LeBron. And Smart subbed in for Luca Donic. And Oklahoma City also making a switch. Joe’s checked in. [Applause] That free throw good from SGA. And this guy just does everything. Scores, passes, good rebounder, just an allaround terrific basketball player. And the jump to finish it off. A beauty. Yeah, everybody will remember the bucket. But how about that pass to set it up [Music] Alexander against Smart Williams. A screen on Smart. The open shot by SGA. Here’s Joe. The three-pointer, no good. And the great shooters know when they’ve got enough opening to go for the three. I didn’t think it was a bad choice on that possession. Here’s SGA and he has 28 points for the game. In the corner, it’s Wiggins. Down to five on the shot clock. to the right side. Caruso the Thunder with another miss. Here’s Los Angeles now. They’re on a 14 to five run. Pass to Clea and stolen by Wiggins. And Wiggins throws it down. Well, if you don’t take care of the ball, fellas, that’s what can happen. Absolutely, Greg. That makes the turnover even more painful. All it takes is a half second of carelessness and someone will be rocking the rim going the other way. About 7 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Here’s Reeds pass to Labraia. That three off the mark. Show with it. Puts up a three. And at the end of the third quarter, a huge lead and this one may already have been decided. It’s the Thunder running away with it. We’ve got more in store for you right after this. [Music] [Applause] And there have been two very different performances from these teams today as we get going in quarter number four. Jake Larabia out there with Jared Vanderbilt. Then there’s Maxi Clebbo. Then it’s Marcus Smart and it’s Reeves in at the two spot. That’s the Laker five. Some nice passing by Oklahoma City here. Shot clock at five. Here’s Wallace. The three-pointer off the mark. Yes. So many times we will see shooters of any caliber miss that wide open three. Pass to Reeds outside. Smart. [Music] Back to Reeves from outside. Off the mark. The Thunder shooting 61% showing all the indications of an offense that is locked in. Wallace against Smart. Good work defensively by Smart. And so it’s Smart who brings up the ball for the Lakers here in the fourth quarter. Their defense has been very strong, allowing no baskets. Back to Vanderbilt. [Applause] Loravia finds Vanderbilt. Now Loravia off target from three-point range. Well defended that time. He’s a shooter that the D has to close down on quickly when he’s ready to pull the trigger. Vanderbilt gets a wideopen look, misses the three. Ball is up on top. Guarded by Smart, stolen by Reeves. And even threeon-ree break. Pass to Smart. And here is Cleba. Launches a three. And it’s Loravia missing. And when you can’t get anything to fall, it definitely gets in your head. If he can just make a couple of buckets though, this can all be put in his rearview mirror. Smart with the steel, driving the lane and slam dunk by Smart and finally someone scores. Points have been hard to come by in this one. Every made basket is huge. Caruso the pass to Wiggins [Music] goes up the baseline and he hits the jump shot. That’s the right pass to make. Beautiful job. They could use a big shot here to get this offense going. Too many empty possessions right now. They need the basket. Back to Smart. Three-pointer. Good on the three-point shot. Smark’s got five points now this quarter. Well, those are the ones you’re happy to get every trip down the floor if he can and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. So, Tim, you ended your NBA career a little bit early because of knee problems. And at 34, you made the transition to broadcasting and have excelled so much. What has that journey been like? Well, certainly, Kevin, I wish I could have played another handful of years, but you’re right. The knee injury forced me into this line of work. And I’m blessed and grateful because I can stay connected to the game. I get to watch it every night with a front row seat. And hopefully I get to make people a little bit smarter about what they’re watching. Oh, you do. Believe me, you definitely do. Looking at who’s out there now for the Lakers. Dton Connect. He’s checked in for Jake Laabia. Donic comes in for Austin Reeves. And it’s Gabe Vincent in for Marcus Smart. The Thunder also changing it up. Jiang comes in for Jaylen Williams. And it’s Williams in for Aaron Wiggins [Applause] and Joe drops them both. Tim the Thunder with an MVP in SGA. An allstar in Jaylen Williams. Man, this is one deep team. Well, they may not have the top tier star power of some other teams, but if they keep playing like this, they will become household names. Five on the clock. Back to connect to Cleba and they force the shot clock violation. Great team. Oklahoma City ball. Oklahoma City substitution. Sorber Aaron Williams. [Applause] for Oklahoma City. They’ve gone one of three from the field to start the fourth quarter. To the inside, Vanderbilt with the block over in the corner. Vincent and the ball goes out of bounds. Last touch by Caruso Williams. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City for the thunder number six Kayn Williams. Here’s Vanderbilt. Pass to Cleba. It’s a nice passing here by Los Angeles. Now Donic covered by Joe. Four on the clock from deep. Donic no good. Well, his three-pointer just hasn’t been there in the second half. From outside the arc, drills it from outside. He’s just stretching them out. The defense has got to do a better job of staying attached to him. Yeah, we talk about winning basketball all the time and what it looks like. Well, that defense right there, that’s the opposite of that. [Music] The Thunder have gone two for five on field goal attempts in the fourth quarter. Now here’s Caruso. He’s guarded by Connect. Joe passes to Wallace. Williams has a screen for Wallace. No good from outside. Los Angeles has gotten some tough luck from three-point range. In the fourth quarter, they’ve hit just one of six from deep. Clebba against Williams. Clebba kicks to Donic. [Applause] Pass to Vanderbilt. Knocks down the three ball. In this era of the NBA, you just can’t let guys have good looks from the three. Pretty much everyone in this league can make you pay. Wallace. The pass to Caruso. And down it goes. Jamming that one home. And that kind of defense ain’t going to get it done. Gee, we don’t see those kinds of dunks out of him all the time, but we know he’s got it in him. Not the greatest effort there defensively, and he took advantage. Here’s Cleba. The Thunder pull it in. Pass to Caruso. Wiggins surveying the floor inside. It’s deflected. Wallace against Donic over Wallace off the left rim and out. And Caruso’s got the ball here for the Oklahoma City Thunder. [Applause] It’s Joe on the wing. He’s looking for Williams and finds him. Shot clock at six. Takes the three. Caruso no good. And Los Angeles guys shooting a pedestrian 36% in the fourth quarter. Offense not doing their best work of late. The three for Donic and the three ball is good. Donic has got 24. And and guys, the intelligence is evident when the pick comes. Donic often makes the right read. Wiggins sets a screen for Wallace and rebounded by Connect for Los Angeles. They’ve gone five of 12 from the field entering the fourth quarter. Pass to Vanderbilt. It’s connect on the wing. Oh, good with the triple. for Oklahoma City. They’ve gotten only three of their nine field goal attempts to go down since the end of the third. Pretty cold down the stretch. Here’s Joe. A three ball. Clea with the rebound. Now connect in the corner. It’s Cleba. And here is Donic. Connect sets a screen for Donic. jacks up a three and the rebound goes to the Thunder. Williams has got rebound number nine now. What an effort here tonight. Here’s Wallace off the mark there with the three-point shot. And Los Angeles guys shooting has been wayward so far. Only 37% from the floor. Vincent the pass to Donic. And they double up Donic. Vanderbilt with the screen. Vincent’s shot is good. Yeah, defensively you just have to be better than that. You know, he’s a very good three-point shooter. Here’s Wallace. Drives to the hoop. Williams outside. Vanderbilt with the rebound. Vanderbilt’s got nine rebounds in the game. Getting it done. Pass to Vincent. Now here’s Cleba. And here’s Donic from the arc. Wiggins with the rebound. Wiggins has got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Caruso the pass to Williams. Some nice passing by Oklahoma City here. [Music] Wallace dishes to Williams and he takes it in for the layup off a very nice feed. Williams has got his first two points and he can time his passes so perfectly. Wow, what an assist. Vincent the pass to Vanderbilt. Two minutes remaining now. Here’s Donic covered by Joe. Vincent misses. Here’s Oklahoma City. Wall is with a screen on Cleba. Wiggins against Clea. Caruso. The pass to Joe. Here’s Wallace and the three off target. And you know, he’s a threat from deep, no doubt about it. But it just has not been there for him tonight. You might want to change your game plan a little bit offensively. Pass to Vincent. [Music] Clea with a screen on Wallace. Pulls it up. They get it back. Vanderbilt kicks to Cleba. And the Lakers with another miss. Oklahoma City shooting in the fourth quarter not pretty down around 29%. And as we head to the final buzzer here, a crushing blowout. Big- time dominance. And and this will go in the record books as a godly win for the Thunder. It was a standout performance across the board. I mean, it was like watching a cat play with a mouse and they were able to do more or less whatever they wanted. And you know, looking back at all the contributions tonight, it was a really phenomenal all-around game for Shay Gilis Alexander and his playmaking was a big storyline in this game. He got guys involved and found them in their favorite spots. Catching up on the changes for Los Angeles, he’s checked in for Maxi Cleba. Hachimura comes in for Vanderbilt. LeBron, he’s checked in for Dalton Connect. And it’s Austin Reeves in for Vincent. 5 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. On the wing, Mitchell guarded by Donic to the middle. [Applause] So, no problem for Oklahoma City as they get the win. A resounding victory for them and Greg in enemy territory no less. That’s exactly right. But with the way they control the game and and just completely took the crowd out of it, that’s how to get it done on the road. Let’s send it over to Ally Leforce. She’s standing by with our player of the game. Shay, you were using those long arms to be disruptive on the defensive end. What’s your focus at that end of the floor? Um, I’m just trying to be as active as possible. Um, and like you said, uh, getting my length involved, something I’ve been blessed with and I just want to use it. That activity, that length was noticed. Congratulations. As always, Ally, we appreciate it. And that’ll do it, folks. along with Tim Leggler, Greg Anthony, and Ally Leforce.
