Dodgers vs. Orioles Game Recap (9/5/25) | MLB Highlights | Baltimore Orioles

The Dodgers continued their road trip after getting swept in Pittsburgh. They got three on the road. Dodgers still in first place in the National League West two games clear of the Padres’s whom the Orioles just swept in San Diego. 29-year-old Dean Kramer making his 28th appearance, his 27th start of the year. So before Otani begins his 12th start of the season, he’ll begin the game at the plate for the Dodgers. A 2-2 and he strikes out on a breaking ball. What a way to set the tone for the weekend. Dean Kramer dazzles against Show. So now Mookie Bets hits a fly ball left field drifting back on the warning track at the wall. It drops into the glove of Dylan Beavers. Two outs, nobody on. Freddy Freeman jumps on the first pitch and it’s a towering fly ball right center field on the warning track is caught again. So Muki Betts and Freddy Freeman threatened home runs in the first, but ultimately down one, two, three. Show Otani taking over for Tyler Glass now. Start number 12 on the year. His last turn was last Wednesday, beating the Reds. Five innings, nine strikeouts through 87 pitches. He’ll start off looking at Jackson Holiday. Holiday flies it to left. Confoto drifting toward the line, but he’ll make the catch. Jeremiah Jackson. Jackson flies one to straightaway center field, but PZ has a read in front of the dworning track. Two out. Benner Henderson 278 hitter. The short stop swung on. Broken bat roller to the right side. Hassan Kim is there. Second baseman flips on to first in time. Orioles go in order. We go to the second inning in Baltimore. Second out of the top of the second inning. And Pahes is going to step up to the plate. Now the payoff pitch. Foul tip. Strike three. So Kramer two strikeouts through two scoreless innings. And as we move to the middle of the second, no score, one away here in the bottom of the second inning. 3-2 swing and a miss gets Cowser. And so Shi Otani gets his first strike out of the ball game. Two outs here, last of the second. Emanuel Rivera. Emanuel Rivera with the game’s first base hit. He continues to perform well for the Orioles. Here’s the rookie Dylan Beavers in the dirt with a slider. And Rivera is going to move up to second on what’s a wild pitch. Tonnie going to try and pick him up with this two- two. And he does. Two strikeouts in a scoreless second. He strands a two out single. Six up and six down so far. The Hesson Kim bottom of the order for the Dodgers. Kim chases a breaking ball to the dirt. Dean Kmer with his third strike out. Now Dalton rushing the one two swing and a miss. Another big hook. Kramer gets another punch out. He has struck out three in a row. Miguel Rojas, another two- two up the middle. Sharply hit and it skips underneath Holiday into center field and the Dodgers have their first base runner. Otani let off the game striking out. Misses away. Backto back two out base runners in the top of the third. Muki Bett steps into the batters box. Two on, two out. And he grounds this ball flatly to Rivera. Goes to second, gets the out and Kramer works around the two out error in the water. Samuel Basio, left-handed hitting catcher at the plate. Basio down swinging. Three of the last four Orioles have struck out against Shi Otani. And now Mayo will bat with one out and the base is empty. Dubbed off the plate, spins back fair. Otani fields it and tags him out. One unassisted. So Mayo’s retired. And now it’s two outs, bases empty. And here’s Jackson Holiday on a 3-1. Holiday is not going to swing at that. Two out walk. First one issued by Show tonight. Jeremiah Jackson scalds one to short. It’s booted by BS and his throw is nearly still in time, but Jackson safe and it’s two on, two out. And a good take by Gunnar Henderson. A bouncer back to the mound. Otani picks it up and throws to Freddy Freeman to strand a pair in the third. The Dodgers being no hit through three innings by Dean Kramer. Now it’s time for Dietri in 10 appearances with the Orioles. The RA is 3.31. and Dean Kramer left with right forearm discomfort. 02 from ends to Freeman. He’ll swing and chop one down toward third and that ball is going to just die in the grass and Freeman is aboard with an infield single. Hernandez flies out to right for the first out. Michael Conforto. That’s high. Ball four. Backto-back innings. The Dodgers have runners on first and second. Kik pinch hitting. Two on, two out. Ends deals. Hernandez takes upstairs ball four to load the bases. Rushing his splits. He’s just five for 29 against left-handed pitching. Rushing takes three ends. Escapes big time right there. And a little emotion out of Dietri Gins, too. Loads the bases, but he got his man. Still nothing nothing at Camden Yards. Otani’s fourth inning. That’s a fair ball. That’s tucked right inside the corner of the bag. Ryan Mount Castle leads off the fourth inning against Show Otani with a sneaky little double. Mounty just continues to spray the baseball. We’ll see if Colton Cowser can move him up a base or even two. And that ball gets away from Rushing. He doesn’t know where this one is either. Dalton Rushing has lost two balls completely in the dirt tonight. And Mount Castle does get to third himself. The ninth pitch from Otani Cowser check swing and he went around on 101. Emanuel Rivera who’s one for one with a single that came with two outs in the second inning. Show Otani is emptying the tank here in the bottom of the fourth. Got him swinging. Two gone. Dave Roberts with a walk out to the mound. Possibly going to take him out just to protect him. Well, Tani salutes Mount Castle on third. Has some fun with it. It’s the lefty Dylan Beavers coming to the plate. Two down in the fourth inning. Anthony Bond. Bond comes out of the bullpen and walks the lefty. Puts Orioles on the corners trying to get Basio with another 3-2. Ground ball to first. Picked up by Freddy Freeman. And Bonda is out of the fourth inning. Orioles leave two. One out here. And now you go back to the top of the card and Jackson Holiday. There’s another walk for Jackson Holiday. And so a pitching change here. Dave managing this like it is game seven of the World Series. Ben Kasparius will come on with a runner on and one out in the fifth. Fly ball out, two gone here in the bottom of the fifth. Oh, through a four seamer. Henderson’s on the walk. The Orioles have two free passes in the inning. All right, here’s Mount Castle and the dirt gets away. The runners were off. Holiday is going to try to score from second. He’s in there. Yes, sir. Action. Jackson Holiday sprints his way home from second and the Orioles grab the first run. Well, I tell you what, and there is your first run of the game. Casperius really does a nice job to get to home plate. And there’s your wild pitch. So, he’s there. Boy, that is close. But I think Jackson, watch the oven mitt. Watch the left hand. Does he get it in there? Yes, he does. I think it is there. First run of the game. Orioles have the lead. Dave Roberts team did not have the lead at any time in Pittsburgh and they trail first tonight by that much. Orioles won Dodgers nothing. Orioles got a run despite no hits in the last inning. Freddy Freeman sends one high in the air left center field deepest part of the yard. It is gone and we are tied. Freddy Freeman with both Dodger hits today and now produces their first run. The Dodgers had scored once in their last 23 innings until that swing. The ninth home run for Freeman since July 30th. And a pitching change now for the Orioles. And he’ll be replaced by Cade Straoud, the Orioles third pitcher tonight. Right field, Jeremiah Jackson. He’s a natural out there. Sliding into a grab to rob Teay Oscar Hernandez. Who says you can’t play outfield? Huh? Jeremiah Jackson Andy Pahz two down base is empty out no man’s land and Pahz bloops one down with two outs in the sixth Hernandez digs back in came off the bench pinch hitting for Hesson Kim in the fourth and the one-two pitch ground ball base hit into center field stops at second backto back two out singles for the Dodgers now the go-ahead run in scoring position Dalton rushing will be the hitter and you know Dalton has one thing on his mind that’s making up for the wild pitches is a painful strike sends rushing to the dirt and he’s writhing in pain. Oh no, we don’t need another catcher down. Oh no. Dave Roberts running out of the dugout. Yoske Nakajima as well. And wow, like it went off his front right knee. Yeah. I mean, you worry about the kneecap. You know, you’re talking about a a catcher that squats for a living that needs super healthy knees. That is a full swing foul ball like you take a hammer to your shin splint. Dalton rushing being carried off the field. Oh, that is not good. It was two nights ago Will Smith took a foul ball off of his right hand off the bat of a Pittsburgh Pirate. Nick Gonzalez. Two nights later, Dalton rushing fouls one off of his right shin, his right leg. Dave Roberts, Yoske Nakajima taking him down the tunnel. So, it’s tied at one. The bottom of the ninth in Baltimore. Now it’s the former O lefty Tanner Scott facing 67 and eight for Baltimore. Rivera Scott’s eighth pitch. Rivera finally strikes out swinging. Here is Beaver check swing. Did he go? Yes he did. Two down in the bottom of the ninth. Samuel Basio the catcher just takes one good swing though. High fly ball deep right field. Get out in the area. There’s your one good swing. Samuel Visayio’s first home run at Camden Yards is a game winner. Do it kid. There’s your one good swing. Second big league home run and first walk-off bomb for the kid Samuel Bisio. [Music]

Jacob Calvin Meyer and the Baltimore Orioles take on Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers on 9/5/25.

  1. Gah…

Dean has been steady over the years.
Sucks he didn't finish tonight out.

I feel for the Dodgers with their catcher injuries.
Boy, the Orioles can tell them about it.

This goes to show how much I don't know about Sam: I thought he was another switch-hitting catcher.
    Ha, ha—nope.
Good to see him end the game without going into extras.

Lastly, a 4-game win streak against the NL West top 2 teams.
I'm at a loss for words to describe how I feel.
The last home stand was horrendous (1-7).

I didn't think the BIrds would even bother showing up.
    I was proven wrong.

    Let's go O's!

  2. An offense that began the season as the #1 in baseball has collapsed into a sinkhole and they still have Conforto in the middle of their lineup who has had the worst batting average in the majors for the entire season.
