Kelvin Banks Jr. confident ahead of 1st NFL game | New Orleans Saints

I’m very confident. I mean, like people say, you’re a rookie. There’s always even when you’re not a rookie, there’s always stuff you can work on. Always like the small stuff that you know you could do a little better at. Uh I’m sorry, but um just just thinking of that and just once you go when you go into practice, you’re harping on those things. You’re trying to focus on those things and then just when you get in the game, just executing uh focus on using technique and then go out there and perform. You know, we hear a lot about continuity on the offensive line. Obviously Trevor going out affected that, but you have gotten I don’t know a good month of work with with the five of you. How has that kind of connection grown with that group throughout camp? It it’s grown a lot. I mean, even when Trevor was in and uh he was playing healthy, uh it was still growing. I mean, I feel like we have a tight group in the old line room and I feel like it’s growing every day, especially uh leading to the uh veteran guys like uh Caesar Ruiz and Eric McCroy, those guys really make it a big deal to for us to be kind of together. We joke around all the time and stuff like that. So, our our uh what do you call it? Our camaraderie is is building very well in there. Gotcha. And obviously for the many to come, but what does Sunday represent to you? Something you’ve worked for your whole life. Yeah. Uh, Sunday just represents, like you said, just what I worked for for my whole life. And now I got to think about that and not let that get in the way of understanding. It’s it’s more to more to do now. It’s more to do. Haven’t the job is not finished as people would say. So it’s more to do, more to accomplish. Just go out there and play hard. There aren’t a lot of rookie left tackles in the NFL every year. You know, maybe maybe it’s you. Is that something that you take take pride in? like, hey, I’m here right away. Or is it also something that, you know, the the other team, you know, they’re going to be looking for you a little bit? Yeah, I mean, I take pride in that a lot, especially just with the coaching staff and coach more trust me to be in that position to protect the quarterback’s mind. Uh, I really take a lot of pride in that and just understand that what my role is on the team. That was one of the big things we talked about uh meeting before understanding the role that you have on the team and uh me understanding my role and what I have to go do to uh to uh communicate well with O line uh stop the defender that’s in front of me. So just understanding that role and going out there and trying to execute. Gotcha. Just Spencer, you know, what is his vibe in the huddle? It’s just like a part of the game that we don’t get, you know, what has been your experience kind of working with him in those moments? Yeah, man. He’s cool, cool, calm, and collected, man. That’s the that’s that’s the words I can give you before. He never gets flustered. I mean, even when something does go bad, you’re going to always have bad plays and he understands that. So, uh, him just going out there commanding the huddle, him and Eric bouncing all the huddle to make sure we all get set and align right. Uh, him making checks and all that. He’s he’s just calm, chill, laidback. Uh, but when it’s time to work, you he’s better. Gotcha. Now, one more thing. You know, a lot of people are going to watch on the football field. They know a lot about you as a player. What is something that the fans who is Kelvin Banks the person that people are going to get used to out there? I mean, man, uh on on the field, uh dominant uh just making sure I I uh like I keep saying the whole interview, but execute execute my drive. Dominant, physical, uh willing to put put itself put the team before itself, and then uh I mean, if you say off the field, calm, I’m I’m no I’m nowhere near what I’m like on the field than what I’m what I am off the field. So, uh, ju just just just those were a few things I planted out who I am on the
