And Bo Bashed with a double to left to bring in Guerrero with the first run of the ball game. The bases are loaded and Slitler is trying to find his way out of this top of the first. And now it’s time for Lucas to get into two strike mode. And it’s into right field and it’s dropping for a base hit. It’s a two-run single. It is three to nothing Blue Jays. And that’s going to bring up Stanton. There it goes. See youa. Stanton with a long home run. The Yankees are on the board. Blue Jays bring the middle of the order up here in the air to right field. Judge going back. Running out of room and it’s gone. An opposite field home run for Guerrero. His 23rd on the season. Just to shallow right and it drops. It drops between Chisum and Judge. Either one could have caught it. Neither did. And Kevin Gosman for the fourth time this year completes eight innings. Shi Otani was not the scheduled starter on this Friday night. But when Tyler Glass now reported back tightness, Shi Otani stepped up to start. Three and two/3 scoreless, three hits a walk, five Ks, 70 pitches, 44 strikes. Orioles got a run despite no hits in the last inning. Freddy Freeman sends one high in the air left center field deepest part of the yard. It is gone. That’s ripped over third base hit. Relay to the plate. It is. He missed the tag. Reds get two back. Edwin Diaz has put himself into a major mess. Now it’ll be Ellie. Diaz says he has something going on with his left cleat. It looks like Yeah, he needs new shoes. Oh my gosh. Maybe he broke a cleat. Is that possible? All right, let’s see how it goes. Strike three called at the knees. 99 got it looking and there are two outs. Reds loaded the bases with nobody out. They’re still loaded now with two outs. Lux a pinch hit single on a tapper. It has felt like every single one has been dramatic. And he hits one on the ground and Akuna gets there to Diaz. He got it. Diaz back from the break. He covers first base, gets the 4-1 put out. Akuna makes the play and Diaz gets out of a huge jam in the ninth inning and the Mets win it five to four. A masterpiece of extrication by Edwin Diaz. gets out of a bases loaded. Nobody out. Brandon Marsh wins the battle in the long at bat with Ber and it’s a two-run home run. His ninth of the year and it’s four to one Phillies here in the fourth. Well, Harrison Bader steps in now from the right side. And Bader just unloads on this one deep left field and that one is gone as Bader goes back to back with Brandon. And that’ll do it. So the Phils take game one of this three-game series. A little bit of a tough home stand for Purdomo just went two for 12 on the year though. It’s still an outstanding season. Royals have the top of the order in the bottom of the third inning with no score. As Lopez tangles with Mikel Garcia, Garcia puddles it deep to left field. Martin’s at a room. Royals on top. Two nothing. The two-run shot for Mikel Garcia. his 16th of the year. And this game’s tied at one. Burger smashes one to left. That is gone. And he hits it into the second deck. Backto back for the Giants. Victor Scott II here in center field finds a whole new gear to track this down. Ending up a triple for Jung Hu Lee. Oh, as Casey Schmidt lines it into left field. A base hit. It’s 8 to one. We’ll see if Hunter Goodman can keep this inning going. And that one’s hit deep to right. It is gone. That’s the alltime record for home runs by a primary catcher run history. Kyle Freeland. A masterpiece. Eight shutout innings for Kyle Freeland. Now one out for Manny Machado. Ground ball fair. There’s one on the first. Double play. Ball game over. That is frustrating. And the Padres’s miss an opportunity to pick up a game on the Dodgers. And it’s on its way. Rounds this one out of the reach of the third baseman. Angels are going to take the lead. One run will score. Ranipo with an RBI single. And it’s 3-2 Angels. Inside out swing. Fly ball to left on the run. Ward by the line. It is gone. Big swing for Bed. And now the A’s lead by four. Go blue jays go
After recent performances, particularly in pitching, we were wondering whether the Blue Jays were running out of steam … based on that performance, they've got the legs for the post-season.
