Red Sox vs. D-backs Game Highlights (9/5/25) | MLB Highlights | Arizona Diamondbacks

Exciting night night number two in the career of Peyton Tolley, his major league debut at Fenway Park. Lou nothing short of dazzling and for the Diamondbacks, they are going to lean on another great outing. Hopefully from Eduardo Rodriguez. Yeah, we’re hoping for Eduardo tonight to get some quick outs in this game in the air to right towards the line and going back is Carroll still going back and he makes the catch nearly overran it as it was not slicing as much as he thought. But Carroll using his speed to run that down for out number two , first pitch and he swings and taps it towards the middle to his left. Is Perdomo Gloves. The third hop throws Lowe to first but locklear gloves it and it’s a 123 1st inning for Eduardo Rodriguez to’s second start in the big leagues about to begin a little bit of a tough home set for perdomo just went two for 12 on the year though. It’s still an outstanding season swinging a high fly ball deep left center field Durant going back to the fence and Then it’s gone a rare right handed home run for Geraldo Perdomo as he sinks his jump shot and the D backs lead one to nothing. That was a little bit low but over the middle part of the plate and Perdomo just jolted it , nug it into the front row just to the left of the 413 marker. Have a couple of men on base. Here’s Vargas at 2 37 2 home runs. He’s the D A pitches chopped on the left side. Bregman to his left glove on the run throws to first in time nicely done. And that should settle totally down down. Here’s Nathaniel 13 game with the Red Sox. He’s hit 3 24 3 fly ball to right center field deep. Alexander racing racing can’t get it off the wall. Roy heading to third, he’s trucking around. He’s gonna score. Here comes Lowe to third, stopping there three bases for the big guy and the Red Sox tie it 11. Nathaniel Lowe legging out a triple thought that ball was going to get out. But it’s a long way out there. I told you maybe back in 2017. This thing is way back. It’s 413 in the area where he ended E Rod thought he got it. I think Nathaniel thought he got it hits off the top of this wall. Ricochet’s over to center field. 12 trying to hold up. He went around chasing a fastball above the zone and Rodriguez gets out of the man of third one out jam that 2 to 2 served out to deep right center field. This is another well struck ball that’s going to get down and take a dip in the pool. Canon ball. Waller to third went to the screen Lawer racing home. It bounces back to Narvaez. The throw home not in time. Lawer scores on the wild pitch. Dbacks lead 2 to 1 tried to throw a change up for Nomo. He cranked a solo home run his first trip and a little looper here. That’ll find a home in center field. Marte Rowley second. Here’s the throw behind the runner and he’s going to be safe at third. It looks like Bregman kind of wants him the checks as kind of pointing to the heel. He’s almost walking off the field like I got his heel looked like Marte. Yeah, they want to take a look. The call on the field is over. The Pedroia are in the House. Great to see Dustin and his family just relaxing his fans. That’s the most relaxed I’ve ever seen him in a ball game. Now, this lineup, the guy you want coming up in a spot like this looking for a big hit is up right now. Rome Gonzalez driven off the end of the bat into center field debates coming around third to score as Narvaez the throw all the way home and they got him. They got him, Blas Alexander, guns him down at home plate to end the third. I didn’t think he had a prayer and blas gunned him down. What a play by blaze. Back to back one out walks plays aboard for the second time and it brings up the veteran in dear Vargas as this one is driven out to left field, it’s on its way. It’s gone. Third of the year for bar gets a three run shot and the Diamondbacks open up a 5 to 1 lead mentioned earlier, Vargason limited playing time. Apparently the situation this time called for a three run bomb to left field. He smoked that ball. Second home run allowed by to tonight. 51 D backs time of the 5th 91 and two new for Boston against Eduardo Rodriguez as Narvaez hits it off the end of the map to center coming in a few steps as Alexander to make the catch the leadoff man going to Boston fifth is the 12 now swing and a foul tip. And another strikeout for Rodriguez Bregman to left racing over is Barosa. He’ll make the catch and Eduardo Rodriguez a 12 3/5. We’re halfway home to at third Alexander at second. Vargas at first Lawler hitting with the bases loaded for the first time in his major league career in the air to left Durant moving back, he’ll make the catch and the throw goes to second Modo scores and Lawlor Flirts with his first but a sack fly gives the D backs a 6 to 1 lead. Six one D backs top of the sixth. Eduardo Rodriguez back to work a chance for locklear. What a nice, what a play, I mean , that’s no respect for your own body right there. You see where he starts. He’s halfway between 1st and 2nd. He’s on a dead sprint. Know he’s going to run into that railing and their soft contact is short, gobbled up by Perno throws to first inning over eight in a row set down by Eduardo Rodriguez right hander ryan Thompson who was activated off the injured list earlier this week so far in his return inning and two thirds scoreless in which he is not allowed a hit. He is down on strikes to begin the seventh inning side arm delivery, sinking fastball, Lowe swings right over the top of now. There’s the craft from Ryan Thompson. Another strikeout, ryan Thompson is not the only side arms submarine pitcher in the major leagues, but it’s a look that hitters don’t get to see very often. The one that one on the ground to third backhanded by Lawler. He’ll throw to first in a 12, 3/7 inning for ryan Thompson time to stretch here at chase field 21 ground ball inside the first base bag. Listen to this crowd. It’s amazing. It’s going to be extra bases for Narvaez as Carol goes into the corner and Narvaez trots into second base with a stand up leadoff double where they’re looking for a spark second for Bregman. Alex tonight has a hit. The be pretty well. He is one for three swing and a drive down the left field side that’s gonna get down, that’s extra bases. Narvaez scores the angry Tarantula Durant coming around third. He scores. It’s a two run double for Alex Bregman. Listen to these fans in the desert. It is 6 to 3. It was only a matter of time. We talked about Alex Bregman taking pitches off the plate, put together a really good at bat right there. This is starting to get fascinating. A hit would make it a one run game swinging a high fly ball pretty well hit to right. Carroll backing up has room to make the catch tagging up for third. Here comes Bregman. He’s in to score story. Jogs down to third. This is a 6 to 4 game Snyder zero for three struck out. Flied out, grounded out tonight. We’ll get this one in, make it a one swing game in the ninth and a fly ball center field driven back, Alexander going back back back, it’s over his head up against the wall. The run is in Raft Snyder in a second. This is a one run game 6 to 5 and hold the phone here in Phoenix 65 D backs bottom eight. Locklear’s at third. Barroso’s at first and here’s Bedo in the air shallow center, Raphaella can’t reach it that’s going to bring home locklear and the Frogman does it again, get the bat on the ball looked like it hit down near the trademark, which is a good thing. It’s going to bring up Corvin Carroll with two guys on and a chance to really get that cushion right back after the Red Sox rallied swing and a drive deep right field number 30 for Corman Carroll and the duck lead it 10 to 5. This place is going nuts right now and they put this game probably out of reach. The Red Sox did so much work to get back in the game, but that has gone up in smoke, two big league appearances so far. Five innings, two saves, fair ball in there. What a night. What a game? What a win for your Diamondbacks. Well, one of the better teams in the American League comes into chase field and we didn’t know what to expect.

Ildemaro Vargas and the D-backs take on Alex Bregman and the Red Sox on September 5, 2025.

  1. They might not be able to close the gap to make the postseason this year, but if they keep their core of players and sign some help to the pitching staff in the offseason, this team will be scary for a few years to come.

  2. I love that the front office just said fuck it. Put super athletic young guys at every position and we will just out-hustle everyone else. I am loving what I’m seeing. So glad to see Lawlar finally putting wood on the ball.
