A’s vs. Angels Game Highlights (9/5/25) | MLB Highlights

Jose Soraniano is the type of pitcher if you are a fan and you’re checking the schedule, this is the guy you want to buy the tickets for, get the seats in Washington. Yeah. I mean, because his stuff is so electric and if he’s locked in, you never know, you might see one of those games you go, “Wow, it might be a no hitter type stuff.” It’s Curts leading off tonight for Marsey’s club. Has hit well. 3-1 from Soraniano is low. And Curts will draw a leadoff walk. Here’s Shay Langalers, the reigning player of the month for the American League. Here’s a 3 0 with Curts at first and Soraniano throws and now it’s taken low, man. Well, against a guy like Soraniano and Barry Enright, the pitching coach of the Angels, quickly goes to the mound. You often don’t get too many opportunities. And right now, right off the top, the AS have two on and nobody out. All the way to the back stop. Three straight walks for Jose Soraniano and the bases are loaded for Soderstrom. Less than ideal to say the least. Round ball to second. Backhanded by Renifo. Tanetto onto first in a 463 double play. Herds comes home to score, but Soraniano desperately needed that. And the Angels are able to convert two for the price of one. Well, and Soraniano coming into the ball game, Chris, has had more double plays rolled up behind him than anybody in baseball. That’s now his 31st double play turned behind him. If your outing starts with three guys on base and nobody out, and you’re able to get out of that first inning with just one run across, that is the epitome of minimizing damage. Chance to get out of it with just one run of damage. Two- two pitch, breaking ball back up the middle and through for a base hit. Langelier scores. It’s a two to nothing lead for the Athletics and Wilson has his 56th run batted in of the year. A fantastic at bat by Jacob Wilson. And the pitch and that is a call. Third strike got him looking. A sinker will end the inning. And Zach Neto at the plate facing Mason Barnett. Just his second big league start. Yeah, fast ball is a firm one. 9397. Good sweeper will throw a change up and curve ball. That had to get him. All right. Nice slow curve ball. So no damage on that. Neto is aboard as he’s hit by a pitch to bring up Mike Trout for Mike Trout. It’s been 23 games without a home run. That is ball four. So first and second, a hit batter and a walk. That’ll bring up Yan Mona. This first inning looks like the five to the 405 right at about five. Nothing but traffic. See if Barnett can respond with a two ball of his own in the bottom of the first inning. 3-1 out towards right field. Hit pretty good. right now’s going to get down as the right fielder comes over and Neto is going to be held at third base. Boy, Neto was at second to start with and that ball took Vlade to the rim of the track and he doesn’t score. Bases are loaded, no outs. 94 RBI’s for Taylor Ward. He’s right there with the best of them in the American League. And that is downstairs. Ball four. ington to pick up an RBI. Scott Emerson’s going to come out. Shocking that that was not called. Tan award did not swing the bat once. Yeah. And 23 pitches and nobody out. That’s It’s tough. Well, that’s ball four and that’s an RBI and the Angels have tied the scores. Mike Trout’s going to score another run. Three walks in this inning for Barnett. Three for Soraniano. They’re almost doing more walking than my dad did in all those years as a mailman back in Philly. rounds this one out of the reach of the third baseman. Angels are going to take the lead. One run will score. Still the base is loaded. Renipo with an RBI single and it’s 3-2 Angels and still no outs. Tell you what, if able to respace it, this might be it. We’re going to knock it out of the game. A little lazy fly ball. I don’t know if this is going to be deep enough. Oh, maybe backed up. It should be as Taylor Ward’s going to come in and score easy. And an RBI for PZA and it’s going to two halos. I think once both Porter saw Solders going back cuz he does have 10 10 outfield assists. Yeah. And here’s a two- two pitch. Breaking balls to third. Might be two. Hernandez goes to second. Gellof goes to first. The A’s go around the horn and they get a 543 double play. After one, it’s the Angels four and the A’s two. Three and two. Shay grounds it through for a base hit into left to lead off the third. And Sodstrom has looked good over his last 30 games entering play tonight. 333. One-two pitch laced into the left center field alley for a base hit. Teodosio a good read on the baseball. Gets to it quickly and it’s a single for Sodrom extending his hitting streak to five games. So Jacob Wilson with yet another RBI chance. He drove in the second of two runs in the first inning. That misses outside and low ball four. So he loses Wilson and that is the fifth walk issued by Jose Soraniano that loads the bases for Lawrence Butler. I don’t think Soraniano’s long for this game. They just need a big hit from Mr. Butler here. Indeed. 02 pitch high chopper charging is PZA. He can’t corral it and everyone’s safe. Langelier scores. It’s a four to3 game. And PZA had made the decision at the crack of the bat, Chris, to charge this ball and make a play at home, but you can’t make the play without the baseball. RBI for Lawrence, his 55th of the season. And Gellof comes up with the bases loaded in a one-run game. Busted bat, little flare that drops down into center field. A base hit. This will tie the game. Sodrom scores and the A’s continue to move station to station four to four. Leday struck out looking in the second inning 0 for one. He’s come right back with two here in the third inning. Still just one out. Inside out swing fly ball to left on the run. Ward by the line. It is gone. Big swing for BLET. And now the A’s lead by four. How about that? I mean just inside that left field foul pole and Blade with his 13th homer of the year. And I think that’s going to be all for the right-hander. There still just one out in the inning. Two-2 line drive to center and it drops down for a hit. You know, you’re fearing who’s rolling out of there. It’s an opportunity over the last few games. You feel pretty happy about the results as Hern takes second base. 3-1 to Curts. He will walk and Zephran first two batters a single and a walk. And the line keeps moving. And another walk. Free pass after free pass. Guys have not been able to to make a pitch when they needed to. Well, Rooker just got hit. That’ll bring home another run. 94. That’ll wait home grenades. They’d love to get him through five. Give him the chance to get his first major league win. But he needs four outs for that to happen. Yeah. About to throw his 83rd pitch here. Here’s Neto. First and second. Josh Neto having another fine year. That strike three called on the inside edge and Neto did not care for it. Some words for the home played umpire Edwin Amen. And it’s not, you know, the best sushi in Anaheim. Nine on the board. It is hit pretty good to center field. Tossio going back and oh, this guy’s amazing. He robs Langalers. He does it again. What a catchio at center. And he had he slammed right into the wall to make that and control the baseball. Lang thought he had another home run which would have been number 30. Not sure when it went over the wall but what a play that was. Tremendous play and that’s rolled over by Rooker who slams his back down in frustration. Quick clean inning. Limited number of pitches for Urania here in the fifth. Told you he’d buy himself another inning. Yes, she did. One-two pitch. Barnett strikes out another. Strikes out Trout. Eight strikeouts for Barnett. He’s starting to rack him up. Two-1 breaking ball popped into shallow left on the run. Sodrom. He makes the catch. Has he earned himself another out? I believe so. Slide step and the pitch. A fly ball right center. Butler back. It’s playable. 10 ft from the track and he makes the catch. Really an amazing effort by Mason Barnett. Seven run top of the third for the A’s in that bizarre first inning and that’s been the scoring tonight. Butler drills one to right center way back and Todd Dosio at the track and he will watch it fly. A’s have a 10 run game in the series opener against the Angels and Lawrence Butler a three hit performance his 19th home run of the year and the A’s lead by six. Lugo represents the final out of the game for the Angels. Swing and a miss and that’s the ball game. The Athletics win 10-4 over the Angels in the series opener.
