Hello! Firm thread for overseas NFL fans to ride.
I'm from Russia (sigh, I know), being a Steeler from 2014. Once upon a time, there was a cable TV channel called NTV Plus+ that covered pretty much every Super Bowl since the 90s. I'm glad that football is slowly gaining some traction and a fans in our country. It's not like in Germany or England, but the perception went from "I don't understand this rugby it sucks" to "PICKENS SUCKED ANYWAY".
I am a Penguins fan so there was no hesitation what a should support in a greatest ballgame of all time. Since 2014 where I started watching regular seasons in NFL and college football, only Steelers, only Pitt.
BTW the first NFL game i've watched as a little punk was us against the Cards so this was like an instant match lol

  2. I think first Superbowl that anyone could watch here in Finland was Superbowl xxx. Dallas was good but some reason I really liked Kordell Steward, Yancey Thigpen, and those black and gold uniforms Steelers played. Been a fan since and watched about 70% all the games. Thank you for internet. Watching Steelers games was pain in the ass and sometimes soul 30 years ago or so.

  4. Irish Steelers fan here – there’s lots of us unsurprisingly with the team’s success in the past and the ties to the country that we have! It’s so satisfying meeting other fans of the NFL outside of America, because there’s a shared comradery in following the team from afar, the late nights and trudging into work tired etc. Also don’t feel bad about being from any country. It’s not your fault as an individual for the acts of stupid politicians and voters. I’m sure Americans know that better than anyone right now lol.

    As a side note I’ve been trying to learn Russian on Duolingo for the last year or so. But I struggle so much any time I take a break to pick things back up again because of the alphabet difference. I wish I could speak Russian as well as you speak English brother. And I hope you have a great day on Sunday as we kick of the season!

  8. Brother first and foremost you don’t have to sigh for being Russian. Russia is a beautiful country with a super rich history, just because you’re Russian, you have zero to do with government.

    Secondarily hell yeah brother! Glad you’re a Steelers fan. I’m not international but I’m a Steelers fan not from Pittsburgh. My dad is from Pittsburgh and I’m from North Carolina, grew up diehard Steelers fan, we come from anywhere and everywhere!

  13. Steelers fan from New Zealand! 🇳🇿 They are quite popular here, I started following them because the cousin who got me to start watching was a Steelers fan. Always been a fun team and love the history.

  14. Steelers fan from Ireland since 05, picked a good year to start following the team! Living in Maine since 2015, surrounded by Pats and the odd Giants fans, but forever a Steelers fan!

  15. When I lived in Pittsburgh, I had a friend from Spain who frequented a Steelers bar in Barcelona.
