The Miami Dolphins Pass Rush Will Be SCARY GOOD

[Music] The Dolphins pass rush is going to be scary, and I mean scary, good this year. I’m Nick Roloff. This is Dolphins Today. These five in particular are going to be troublemakers for opposing quarterbacks. Chop Robinson, Jaylen Phillips, Bradley Chub, Zack Cer, Matthew Judon. Not even factoring in potential impact rookies like Kenneth Grant or Jordan Phillips rushing the passer from the interior. The strongest point of this Dolphins roster, not just defense, but roster is their front seven. Those core four edge rushers, the four interchangeable pieces on the interior defensive line. They need to lead this defense. If they have a poor season, the defense will have a poor season. If the pass rush in front seven is average or mediocre, well, I got bad news. The Dolphins probably aren’t going to be a good football team. This coaching staff, this front office is hedging on them dominating games at times. And I believe they will, which is why I’m not concerned about it. It’s an area that must see improvement. You look at the defense from a year ago, a lot of good things. Pass yards per attempt allowed. Third best in the NFL. EPA per play ninth. Third down percentage fifth. Yards per game six. Points per game 12th. But you see two glaring deficiencies. Sacks per game 27th. Sacks overall 27th. And takeaways 16 27th. This defense needs to force opponents into more negative plays by getting after the quarterback and taking the ball away. And if we’re going to be honest, like I just mentioned, the Dolphins being 27th in sacks this year just simply will not fly. If they are 27th in sacks, I’ll be willing to make the bold statement that they will be picking inside the top seven if that’s the case. They need the pass rush to be elite. But as I mentioned, I think it will be, and I’ll explain more on why I think that here in a second. But hey, subscribe and don’t miss out because we’re going to be live for NFL Week 1 Dolphins Colts this Sunday. 1 hour tailgate. 12:00 p.m. Eastern time is when we’ll be live for the 1:00 p.m. Eastern time game. 11:00 a.m. Central time. This is our thumbnail, so if you see it, click on it. Join me and Coupe. Going to be a blast. Hopefully, we see the Dolphins start the year 1 and 0. I think they will, but it’s gonna be a lot of fun. Subscribe and join us for that. The reason why I do forecast such a change from last season to this year from 27th the sacks to what I believe could easily be top five, top seven is the fact you’re getting Jaylen Phillips and Bradley Chub back. It is just such an insane upgrade from a year ago. I mean, you look at it. I mean, this is hard to really fathom that we were rocking this out there every Sunday. I look back at it. The four most snaps to edge rushers for the Dolphins last year. Number one was Emanuel Agba. Number two was Chop Robinson. Three was Taius Bowser. And four was Quinton Bell. I mean, no wonder why we were 27th in sacks. Those edges are brutal, man. And then you look to the right, what the top four edge rushers project to be for Miami. Chop secondyear bump up. Hopefully, you replace Emanuel Agba with Jaylen Phillips. Hello. You replace Tyus Bow with Bradley Chub. Hello. You replace Quinton Bell with Matthew Judon. Hello. Like, it’s just such an insane upgrade from a year ago. And specifically harping on Jaylen Phillips and Bradley Chub returning to this football team. The last time we saw them on the field for Miami, they were elite. that happened in 2023 when the Dolphins looked to be one of the best teams in the NFL and potentially winning the AFC East. Now, we know Jaylen Phillips ultimately tore his Achilles and had to miss the second half of the year. And then Bradley Chub had that crazy destructive knee injury which affected his PCL, MCL, and ACL in week 16. But you look at their numbers in 2023 and on Pro Football Focus, out of the 95 qualified edge rushers that played at least 200 pass rushing snaps, Chub ranked 12th in pressures and sacks, 17th in their signature pass rushing graded stat, PRP, and 19th in pass rush win percentage. Meanwhile, Jaylen Phillips, his overall pressures are down because he missed half of the year and played way less snaps than everybody else, but he was still half or top half in total sacks. He was extremely productive. He was on pace for a 14 sack season if he didn’t get hurt. And he ranked in the top half and that signature PRP stat as well as pass rush win percentage. you get both of these two back, that is going to be a massive upgrade at edge and pass rusher. And both of them are entering the season 100% healthy. Chub has no nagging injuries as of now. Jaylen Phillips doesn’t have any nagging injuries right now. Both should be extremely fresh. Chub didn’t play a season last year or a game last year. And I know he had to do a lot of recovery, but his body should be fully healthy as it’s been since maybe coming out of college because he hasn’t played football in a while. And the same could be said about Jaylen Phillips only playing in four games over the last really two years. So, I’m really excited for these two to be fully healthy and integrated in this Dolphins pass rush. And we’re not even talking about Chop Robinson’s secondyear jump and Zack Steeler on the interior yet, which we’ll get to here in just one second. But this episode is brought to you by Prize Picks. And I make decisions every day. You make decisions every day. And guess what you can do with the right decisions on prize picks? Oh yeah, get paid. And on prize picks, oh, it is good to be right. It’s so simple to play. I play it for every Dolphins game, college football, professional football. And how about this folks? Recently added, you can stack. Only daily fantasy sports platform to allow it, by the way, where you can now take the same player with up to three stat projections. So you can go with Dak Prescott more than passing yards, less than rushing yards, and more than passing touchdowns in the same entry. This is a new feature, folks, that I am very excited about because well, I’m be honest, I like adding in the same player. Like I would love to have Jaylen Watom more than receiving yards and to have a touchdown. Like that would be my dream. And in week one, when I’m looking across the professional football league, I’ve got more than Dak Prescott passing yards, more than Joe Flacco passing yards, and more than Deario Douglas receiving yards. Feel very good about that three player entry. It’s so simple. You just pick more or less on two to six player step projections. Get your picks right, you can cash in. Download the app today and use code C LNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That is code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. As I mentioned just a moment ago, you cannot forget about the secondyear improvement from secondyear player Chop Robinson. He was so damn good last season as a rookie, and I’m excited to watch him play with elite pass rushers around him, which wasn’t the case last year. but also another year of kind of knowing what needs to be done in order to be a consistent pass rusher. I mean, you look at Chop Robinson’s rookie year from week eight on, so the final 10 weeks of the season, he was the seventh highest graded pass rusher. He had the fourth most pressures, fourth most QB hurries, the third best win percentage at 20%, and he was third in that signature pass rushing stat from Pro Football Focus PRP. So conclusion, he was a top five pass rusher in the final 10 weeks of the season last year as a rookie playing alongside Bums. No offense to Quinn Bell, Taius Bowser, and Emanuel Agba. Simply put, not good enough NFL edge rushers. They’re all like fourth edge registers on teams, not one, two, and three. Um, the point is this. I think Chop Robinson is going to be a monster this year. Like his bend, his first step is so wicked. Like I can’t wait to watch him just terrorize opposing offensive linemen because they also have in the back of the mind. But what happens if Bradley Chub and Jaylen Phillips starting around? And then what happens if Chop Robinson’s on the outside? Jaylen Phillips is wide nine and then they both attack the right tackle and then they do a little stunt move or Chopped goes inside and um Phillips goes outside. Like it just could be so nasty, man. I just s said on screen a second ago, in case you didn’t see it, I’ll verbalize it. I expect Chop Robinson to increase his sack total from a year ago from six to this year double digits. I think he’s in the double digit sack club. And I think going into next year, not this season, but in 2027, no 26. Got my years mixed up, folks. He will be a leading DO guy. He will be top five in deep odds going into next year. Take that to the bank. And I just want to further illustrate the versatility that this defensive line and pass rush will have. This is a screen grab from the Dolphins first play defensively against the Jaguars in their final third preseason game. I took the liberation. That’s not the word. Took liberty. Thank you. Coup outline who is who. You see Bradley Chub on the outside on the left tackle. You see Zack Caler next to him on the inside. Bonito Jones in between the center and right guard. Chop Robinson going up against the right tackle. And then you see Jaylen Phillips all the way out there like he’s about to defend the receiver in the nickel. But what do the Dolphins do on this first play? If you don’t remember the opening play of the preseason game, they rush all six guys, five guys, excuse me, Jaylen, Chop, Bradley, Bonito, and Zack. And they kind of motion a zone out there. Jaylen comes off the edge. Chop goes inside. Bonito Jones takes up a couple guys. Miscommunication. Chop Robinson sacks John Wolfford immediately. Like it’s important for me to illustrate that because we are so deep at edge. You can move these guys around constantly. Whether it’s Chop Robinson standing up over the center and giving him nightmares and making his pants a little bit more brown than he’d probably like. You can also have him move on the outside. Jay Phillips. And we haven’t even really touched on Matthew Judon coming in and doing the same thing. A player that had six sacks last year for the Atlanta Falcons. Did he take a step back from his days in New England? Yes. But he still put up six sacks in the Falcons organization. Like that’s just so dominant, man. You’re so versatile. It’s going to be awesome to watch these guys go to work. And Anthony Weaver on Thursday, by the way, mentioned that you could see 30 to 40 snaps for the top four Dolphins edge rushers because if the defense is out there for 55, you could just continuously rotate them to where they all play 35, 40 snaps a game when fully healthy. I love the term Weaver used, waves. They just keep on coming. You think they’re getting tired? Oh, these pass rushers aren’t getting tired. Why? because they’re so deep where they’re constantly rotating in and out and you’re having an elite pass rusher feel 100% ready to roll on every single snap. I can’t wait, man. Fill in the blank. The Dolphins have the blank best pass rush in football. I think when it’s all said and done, I could be I think it could be number one. I I really could. Um, but let me know your thoughts down in the comments section. Dolphins will have the blank pass Russian football. Oh, and we forgot to talk about a certain position group. Oh yeah, the interior defensive line headlined by the most underrated defensive tackle in the entire NFL. That being Zack Cer, who by the way has had back-to-back years of double digit sacks. Thought maybe the one year with Christian Wilkins was a little bit of a wildcard year. No, he did it last year with those shitty edge rushers that Miami had and Kus Campbell next to him in the interior. You see him out of the 42 qualified defensive tackles when it comes to pass rush grade, win rate, hurries, he ranks in the top half almost in every single category. Like this is one of the most productive pass rushing defensive lineman in the NFL. Mentioned it back-to-back years of 10 plus sacks. He will be very good once again. And you aren’t able to double team any of these guys. You can’t do it because if you double team one of them, you’re leaving the other three guys on an island and I’m going to take one of those guys to win every single time. The Dolphins defense is built on dominating the trenches. It’s why the Eagles have been so consistently good over the past couple of years, as well as the 49ers in the NFC. And the Ravens, they always dominate the trenches. I think the Dolphins are going to dominate the trenches when they’re when they’re on defense this year. very excited about that. And how about this as well? ESPN putting out an article about a week and a half ago, labeling the top 50 pass rushers of the 2025 season and projecting each player sack total and then having their top 50. Jaylen Phillips and Bradley Chub were both projected to have 8.7 sacks this year. That’s tied for the 14th most out of projections in the NFL. Zack Caler was projected 7.1, 31st in the NFL. And Chop Robinson cracked the top 50 list at 6.5. And I think that is way underelling Chop Robinson. I said I expect them to be up or at least close to double-digit sacks. But the point I am making with this, ESPN projected four different Dolphins defensive linemen/pass rushers to get enough sacks to qualify them for the top 50. Not just edges, we’re talking DTackles, linebackers, edge rushers. Doesn’t matter. top four or top 50, four guys. They were the only team on the ESPN top 50 projection list of sacks to have four plus players. Some teams had three, a lot of teams had two. Not one team had four players in the top 50 projection list. Miami was by themselves. Just I am not the only one talking about this, folks. I know this pass rush will be elite. It’s going to carry the defense. And you’re starting to even see some of these national people catch on a little bit, too. I think we’re going to surprise people early on this season, especially with an easier schedule. First month of the year, Colts, not a good quarterback, not a good offense. Patriots bottom five offensive line in football. Bills will be tough. But then you play the Jets to end out September, a bottom three offense in football with a struggling offensive line since their best player got hurt, Elijah Vera Tucker. This pass rush is going to dominate, I think, throughout the year, but they’re going to even look better early on in the year when they’re playing battle line. Not to mention, week five is Carolina, week six is the um Chargers, and then week seven is the uh um Browns, like not good offenses and offensive lines early on the year, folks. All right, that’ll do it for this episode. Like I mentioned, let’s get to 73K subscribers. want to get to 73K before game day. We’re under 100 away. Um, so let’s get there before we kick off. 1. People worried about the secondary, my worry is offensive line, I believe if the offensive line stays healthy, we will be a really good team. I believe our defense is going to be awesome, now Let’s Go Miami!! Down goes the baby horses

  2. When dolphins looked like the best team..except when they play over 500 teams😂😂 that was the dumbest statement you've ever made n you're on the cusp of losing my follow because of that moronic take.
