Can’t blame him for trying. Just a miss on FA but he was never more than a long shot
I’m sure he worked hard to come back but it was discouraging when one of the things reported shortly after he signed the contract last winter was that he was planning on retiring.
Not a knock on Cobb, more a criticism of the Tigers FO for doling out this contract.
None of this is on him. He tried and ultimately his body couldn’t hold up. Question is why we gave him 15 mil
Can’t blame him he tried everything in his power to get healthy
He doesn’t owe us any explanation. Scott is the one who decided to lure him out of retirement with $15M that could’ve been spent better literally any other way. Enough bargain bin hunting for pitchers.
I have the same hip problem as him. It’s not fun at all. I’m almost a year post surgery and still not 100% but better than pre surgery
Well that was a dogshit signing. Back to the drawing board
Now he joins Tigers legend CJ Cron in the Tigers Hall of Fame
Can’t blame him. It’s not like he didn’t try. Best wishes to him in the end
Anyone think maybe the Micheal Lorenzen find was a curse in disguise. Maeda followed. Cobb followed. Flaherty to a certain extent. Seems like kind of chasing at this point. Trying to relive the early success when more often than not these trash finds don’t work out
Maybe a physician who can perform a may thorough physical would have saved $15 million
Cannot blame Alex at all and not really interested in his explanation. He’s old and hurt, it happens. He was going to retire and the tigers offered him a lot of money to not retire, everyone would’ve done the same thing.
The real explanation needs to come from Harris as to why they made this signing. He was old and slightly washed even if he was 100% healthy. Make it make sense
The dude was basically retired and we offered him 15mil. Can’t blame him for that.
Takes a man to write that to people he owes nothing to. Hope all works out for him
Tldr, idc as long as skubes is happy…what’s the magic number?
I read half and said why is he explaining himself ?
Class move . Appreciate you
Rolling the dice is one thing. But, why was the number $15M for a guy with this medical profile? Not my money, but as a small market team, that kind of waste is felt somewhere.
I don’t believe for a second that he had zero indication that he might have an issue until waking up one day unable to move.
It’s not his fault at all. He was gonna retire. Harris is the one who should be explaining himself.
I feel bad that he thinks he owes anybody an explanation. The frustration is at the FO for signing him. His health is what it is and his statement makes me feel a little sad :
Not his fault. Scott Harris fault for spending $15 million on baseball marcus davenport
It’s crazy how many people in the comments think this is too much to read! Damn..
I feel for the guy, but that doesn’t help us at all. We needed a solid SP. We went out and got Jack and Cobb… I get pitching can come and go, but man we could have used a quality SP instead of a long shot. I don’t know.
Waste. He doesn’t owe anyone an explanation because he never played a game and nobody that I know cares about him.
