Are The Habs Done?
[Music] I’m going to show you a picture and it’s going to be terrifying. Carrie Price has officially been traded to the San Jose Sharks. That’s right. The cap hit is gone. It’s done. A fifth round pick was also a part of the package that’s going to the Sharks. And going back the other way, the Montreal Canadians are going to receive BG L. That’s big. getting in the rock. Now, this video is brought to you by Mirage Trading. And if you’re looking for a good spot to get your cards online right now, mirageing.com’s got everything you could possibly be looking for. See what I’m talking about? They got hockey cards, they got baseball cards, they got a couple of Ganon Lorac cards kicking around out back somewhere. And you can find all their links in the description of today’s video. Gary Price was drafted fifth overall by the Montreal Canadiens back in 2005. For years and years, this man was considered to be one of the top goalenders in the league. And even though he finished up his career with plenty of hardware and gold medals, you name it, thanks to kamicazi Chris here, just as the young man was entering his prime, his body would slowly begin to deteriorate and he would never get to accomplish one of his main objectives, a Stanley Cup. Now, in 2021, Price would sacrifice his body to make one final push. And even though they came dangerously close to Tampa Bay Lightning, they would go on to eliminate Montreal in the Stanley Cup finals. We didn’t know it at the time, but the career of Carrie Price was over. He would go on to play five more games in 2022 before slowly disappearing from the spotlight. Now, even though Carrie Price disappeared, one thing that didn’t disappear was that $10.5 million contract. That was crippling. And with just one more season remaining, KT and the Canadians, they finally found a team that was willing to take the hit. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Mike Greer and the San Jose Sharks. Let’s bring up the details. Now, you’re going to notice that this deal is not about the players, okay? It’s more about flexibility. It makes sense for the Sharks because they get a little more roster flexibility. And it makes sense for the Canadians because they get a little more cap flexibility. That’s it. It’s simple. And according to Puck Pedia, a deal like this would typically cost a second round pick for the Canadians. But Kent Hughes, the man deserves a lot of credit here because he was able to get it done for just a fifth. Now, I’ve already had several people ask me about this Ganon Lorac kid. They’re wondering if there’s ever going to be a day where he could possibly see his jersey raised to the rafters at the Bell Center. Well, let’s just say that I wouldn’t count on it. According to Hockey DB, he’s a 22-year-old right defenseman. He was drafted 103 overall by the Sharks back in 2021, but from what I’ve been hearing, he’s also had multiple hip surgeries over the past couple of seasons. And you’re going to notice that last season for Ganon, the young man didn’t even play a single game. There’s even been some speculation that his career could possibly be over right now. So, I’m sorry to inform you, but the Habs traded Carrie Price for a 22year-old who’s even more banged up than Carrie Price himself. Isn’t that something? What a sick world we live in. But all jokes aside, I really hope this Ganon kid is okay and maybe he gets back and plays some more Augie. But now that Carrie Price is gone and the Canadians actually have a little bit of cap space to play with, one big question remains. Are the Canadians going to use this extra cap space to go out there and try and acquire a top six forward? More specifically, a second line center. Well, according to Marco Demo and his sources, the Canadians seem to be in the mix. Okay, they’re a team that’s looking to add right now. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to happen right away. However, trading Carrie Price’s contract was probably the first domino that needed to follow to make this happen. And that they managed to get him out of the equation. Don’t be shocked at all if we see some kind of a follow-up move over the next few weeks. That’s going to do it for today’s quick little video. I just wanted to give my thoughts on the price trade. I do think that the Habs are looking to add right now, but who is it going to be? If you’ve got a player that you’d like to see them target, you can let me know down in the comments section. Please don’t forget to give that like button a leg drop before you leave here. And hey, rest in peace, Kin Dryen, you Habs legend. and I’ll see you next time.
OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at the trade yesterday, which sent Habs goaltender Carey Price to the San Jose Sharks. Now that the Habs have some more cap flexibility, I think that this will open the door to another potential trade in the near future! Lets break this one down.

REST IN PEACE KEN DRYDEN
There is no such thing as a quality 2C for 4.5 mil and that is all the habs have to spend.Sure anything is possible but I cannot see any such trade happening instead if the Habs acquire a player it will be a bad trade.
IMO the best move for the habs this year has been the retiring of Savard geesh that improves the team on the back end more so than Dobson.
MTL had arguable the two worst positional players in the league Laine and Savard 5 on 5 are pylons neither one could skate both do a LOT of standing around.I know one guy who loves Laine >>the skate sharpener he doesn't have to sharpen Laine's skates much maybe 2x a year.
R.I.P. Ken Dryden.
Also when Carey Price passes away, I hope Marc Bergevin is still alive so he can lower the coffin himself and let Price down one more time.
Thank God that noose of a contract is finally gone. Now it’s just Gallagher and Anderson left with bad Bergevin-era deals, I think.
anudder hundred turd pick
Crosby by trade deadline then #2 center is solved
If you check how they made the Perri cap relief calculator, you can see 2 big errors :
1 – They take cap dump and salary retention to fuse both curves
2 – They apply such a thing to a dead cap situation
It is 3 different situations and does not offer the reality about how the market works. Oh, and I guess we have to thank that model for all those dumbass who thought a second-round pick was the basis of the Price's trade …. Geez!
Dryden spent the weekend at my house about 23 years ago! He stayed the whole weekend! Was awesome!! Im still dreaming of McTavish…
Where ya from, b’y?
I think montreal should go for anton lundell
Habs get mcdavid in 2026-27 season
The '71 playoffs were the first games I ever watched. Rest in peace Ken Dryden.
KH and GG are always preparing their next move. Just a matter of time and the right player.
Favorite all time, Legend. Who I judged all goalies after.😢🎉🎉R.I.P.
Yesterday sucked! First we hear Carey is no longer a HAB and before the dust settled we hear the sad news that Ken Dryden has passed.
I love you, Mr Hockey Junky.
Take care Mr Dryden.
RIP Ken Dryden! Loved watching him play!
Only time I cried watching sports was when MTL lost game 3 in the 2021 finals. I was pretty drunk too, numbing the pain ya know 😂 I was thinking: I'll never see MTL win the cup. I was 4 yo last time they won it. But anyways that 2021 run was insane. I was holding on the the 0.000001% chance that Price made a comeback this year or next with the current (better) team, and won the cup.
Thanks for all the awesome vids Junky! I've been watching since you had about 4000 subs, but I never left a comment. Appreciate you!
THIS TRADE WILL HELP THE hABS……RIP Ken Dryden you were a great goalie
Of course, Hockey Junkie would take two of my favourite Price saves to start the highlight package… those saves on Ovi and Crosby got me out of my seat when I saw them live…
And perfect ending to the video, showing respect to a Habs legend who left us.
Best Habs content on all platforms, bar none.
Well since the rebuild is over and momentum is the currency we deal with now, a 2C will be acquired before the season starts. There is no reason to go into the season with such a hole in the lineup when we have a plethora of assets. I expect a 2c acquisition before the season.
If the Habs are looking for a winger, Rust / Rakell will be available come March. Pens are not trading Crosby. (Not sure why or where that always seems to be a rumor)
It'd be hilarious if Price was like I'm gonna give it another shot lol
RIP BEST GOALIE MONTREALEVER HAD. KEN DRYDEN #29
I dont think theyd of bothered trading Price's contract if they weren't planning on adding first I see Matheson leaving (i think thats the meeting they had in buffalo got his no trade list)along with his 4.8 cap hit leaving kent hughes with a healthy 9 and change to offersheet Mctavish bam you heard it here first
Idk what this hype feature is but HYPE THIS UPPPP
Talk about over reaction, Price was NOT traded, his big contract was. The Habs get cap space, and a questionable player in return.
#29 RIP
