Los Angeles Lakers vs Golden State Warriors LIVE | September 7, 2025 | NBA PRESEASON | NBA 2K26

And the players getting themselves into game mode with the tip off just moments away. Well, we can finally say it. The NBA regular season is about to get underway. And here at 2K Sports, we couldn’t be happier. I’m Kevin Harland with Greg Anthony and Richard Jefferson. And in just a moment, we’ll hear from our sideline reporter Ally Leforce. And a moment here to check out who the Golden State Warriors have coming up. On Thursday, they’ll face off against Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets. Then on Friday, they’ll be playing against Damen Lillard and the Portland Trailblazers. And for the matchup with the Grizzlies, that’ll be their fourth outing in this young season. Coach will want to have his team starting to build a rhythm by then. Now Golden State’s starting five. That court pair will be Curry and Pajki. Butler is the four and Green operates as the small ball center. And it’s Moody in at the three spot. And for the Lakers Reeves in shooting guard, James is the small forward. Chimura is the four with eight playing the five. And it’s Donic in at the point guard position. All right, everyone. The NBA season starts today. We have made it. It is a holiday for everybody. Oh, man. The off season felt like forever. It It’s great to be back. Nothing like some games that count. And the officials calling for a 3second violation. [Applause] Pass to [Applause] Reeves right side. Here’s Donic and it’s in there. Donic has got the first points up on the board tonight here for the Lakers. And once Donic gets inside with the ball, he’s halfway there. Then he just uses his strength to finish the job. And here are the Warriors now. Pajki finds Curry. Green with a screen on Donic. Here’s Curry with the three. Knocks down the three ball. And that’s exactly what he’s looking for. Draining the triple. Outside lets it go from deep and Moody pulls it down. On offense, here are the Warriors. Green passes to Moody. Now Pajimski. [Applause] Green with a screen on Reeves to the inside. Curry gets the bucket. Curry’s got five points so far. With his touch, Curry can beat you from inside as easily as he can outside. [Applause] And here in the first, closing in on two minutes play. [Applause] Donic against Curry. LeBron James on the wing. [Applause] Off to a good start as he hits his first shot attempt. And once he got to the 10, I think he was surprised to find himself that wide open. Easy possessions like that literally are just a gift. You just dream of them. He will gladly take those. Now here’s Curry. He’s got five. Rajmsky on the wing over Reeves and the Warriors tack on two more. When Steph has the ball, all eyes are on him and that creates opportunities for his teammates. LeBron outside. Back to Dunic. Shot clock at six from 13. Raymond Green grabs the miss. Warriors leading by three. And now we’re being joined by our 2K insider Shams Cherania who’s calling in with a good story. Shams, what do you have guys? One of the more lengthy free agency sagas revolved around Jonathan Kaminga and many thought his time was up in Golden State. He saw fewer and fewer minutes down the stretch of last season and into their playoff run. But when Kaminga tested free agency, tested potential signing trade deals, nobody seemed to be the exact right fit. So eventually he took the Warriors offer. Guys, we’ll see just how long this lasts. But for now, he’ll continue to be in that Golden State uniform. We’ll continue to track that story. Okay, Shams, thanks for the report. Now, Pajki following Himemer’s three-point attempt. Moody’s shot is off and that miss makes them four of five to start this one. Not a bad start. Reeves the pass to Donic. James wide open and again no good by the Lakers. Warriors have gone four or five from the field so far. Curry kicks to Green. [Applause] The shot comes out. Some solid defense from Reeves with it. Still without a basket. On the wing. Donic. Stolen. And up the court come the Warriors on the break. Some nice passing by Golden Stadium. Reeves against Curry outside. Butler in the corner. Moody with it. And the three off target. And so Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles. It’s a five-point game. Out left to the wing. Reeves outside and the three ball is good. At this point in time for Reeves, this is just a reflex. He knew he had it the moment he had the ball. Golden State’s gone. One of three from beyond the arc so far in the game. Curry against Donic. They kick it out to Green. Lets the three fly. rebound the Lakers. Pass to Aiden. Here’s Hatachimura. The three for Donic. And the Lakers hit again from Jeep. And it’s so hard to take away the three from Donic. He needs very little space. And if you press up on him, he’ll go right around you. Warriors shooting well right out of the gates here at around 50%. And so Steve Kerr decides to call a timeout. He’s going to take this chance to talk to his guys. [Applause] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] And taking a look here at some numbers for LeBron James last season. He played outstanding. He averaged 24 per clip, eight assists, and eight rebounds. And you look at his huge role in their offense. A major contributor as far as putting up points. He’s just a natural scorer and someone this offense leans on to help shoulder the load and lead the charge. Now here’s Moody James defending over in the corner. Green three off the mark. Los Angeles has gone two or five from three-point land here in the first quarter. Here’s Reeves. And again, it’s the Lakers. Night in and night out. Reeves does some of his best work off the bounce. [Applause] Outside Butler. Green. The screen. Pass to PMski. [Applause] Green with a screen on Reeds. Just four to shoot to stop the run. A rebound by the Lakers and their offense is really clicking right now. Playing with a lot of energy and really taking it to the defense and that one good. Nice shot by Reeves. He is just so crafty in that mid-range area. They need a good offensive possession. Yeah, they’ve gone a long time without a bucket. Butler score the basket. His second of two attempts. And a nice job here early of establishing an inside presence. Lakers leading by three. And Jimmy Butler is what some might call an old school kind of player. Uh would you agree, Greg? Yeah, I mean he’s all toughness, grit, and basketball IQ. A tone setter at the defensive end who plays unselfishly. That guy is all about winning. Now here’s Donic. Five points in the game. Defense kind of rolled the dice there and I’m a little surprised that it ended up going their way with the miss. Pajki finds Curry. [Applause] Driving inside. That’s a two from Butler. No good there off the double clutch. Lakers have gone six of 12 from the field here in the first quarter. Reeves the pass to James and it’s Murray in the corner. Yes. And it’s LeBron picking up the assist and the Lakers lead by six. Yeah, those are starting to add up, guys. Of their last five baskets, three have been tripled. Right now, let’s take a moment here to catch up with All the Force on the sidelines. I did briefly speak with JJ Reic on the topic of Curry. coach said it’s like playing a game of tack. He continued, “We had our wings chase our guards around in practice and everyone is on notice. We all know how good he can be. The important thing is to not take any plays off. He’ll stay sharp or he’ll remind us. That’s for sure.” Kevin, we appreciate it. Allie, thank you. Here’s Reeves. Jimmy Butler making his last shot in the corner. It’s James sets the pick for LeBron. And it’s Hacheim Murray in the corner. That one falls. His second basket of the game. He’s now two for three and off to a strong start offensively. He’s got a nice touch. Warriors trail by six. Curry, Curry, Curry. Now Curry. Five points in the game. Butler in the corner. No good with the triple. Los Angeles has gone 306. 50% from deep so far tonight. James in the post. Defended by Moody. James kicks to Himura. Curry against Donic. That three off target had some space there after the little pump fake. No doubt he’s struggling right now from the field. Let’s see if he can get it going this quarter. Outside Curry. [Applause] The kick outside to Butler. Butler can’t get that one to fall. And so it’s Dunage with it. He brings it up for Los Angeles. Six-point lead. Three-pointer. No good from LeBron. And close to making the defense pay for the lack coverage that time. And it’s Pajki in the corner. Back to Butler. [Applause] 116 left to play here in the first. [Applause] Good work defensively by Hatchim. Los Angeles leading by six. Pass to LeBron. Konic bounce pass with a screen on Kirk. [Applause] Reeves in the corner outside. Butler Green with a screen on James. Here’s Butler and the Warriors miss again. Oh man, that’s tough. That’s definitely one he’d like back. Almost too wide open in the corner. It’s James and a wide open look for Hatimura. Gets the three-pointer to fall. Hatimura’s got eight. More of an inside the arc guy. Hachimura can be dangerous for rain. Warriors trail by nine. Guys, they’re looking for a way to score here. Yeah, they’ve had a tough time taking the lid off. [Applause] Curry against Donic. [Applause] Right side Curry. There’s Green with the three. That shot misses. And so the first quarter is in the books. Lakers ahead. They’re up by nine. Let’s take a quick break now and then it’s on to the second quarter after this. [Applause] And welcome back to the second quarter of action. Plenty of basketball left to play, but this one has been one-sided so far. And let’s get your take, guys, on the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. They’ve really been dialed in from deep. This is a team that has a ton of confidence in their outside shooting ability. And I also have to bring up their passing game. They they’ve been moving the ball with great precision so far and creating great looks for their teammates. They’ve got Maxi Cleba, Austin Reeves out there with Smart. Then there’s Jared Vanderbilt and it’s Loravia in at the small forward position. That’s the group for the Lakers to start the second quarter. Nice shot by Smart. How many times have we seen a possession like that from them today ending with a basket coming off a pretty pass? Warriors trail by 11. So RJ, one of the stories for the Lakers last season were the strides that Austin Reeves took as a player. Reeves increased his scoring averages going from about 16 points a game to over 20. He is a steady source of offense and I don’t think there’s any argument that he is one of the best bargains in this league. Great instincts from him to get a hand on that pass and tip it out. Yeah, I think he was hoping to maybe even get the steal, but I agree he’s still got a good outcome. And the Warriors making a change here. Curry’s checked in. It’s deflected. Butler with the steel. Pass to Curry. Back to Butler. [Applause] over Vanderbilt. Well, their passes to Curry. Just five to shoot. Heel sets the pick for Curry. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. And with the success they’ve had rebounding the basketball, they’re right where you’d expect them to be, firmly in the driver’s seat. Reeves against Heield over in the corner. Arabia off target from outside. Warriors trail by 11. Here’s Butler. Oh, thrown down by Butler. And everything Butler does, he does with a bang, including those two points. Second quarter play with around two minutes gone so far. [Applause] Reeves with it. He’s got seven outside for Smart. Curry with it now. Guarded by Smart. Back to Curry. Golden State moving the ball around. Down low. It’s stolen by Vanderbilt. Aravia passes to Vanderbilt. We’re just over 2 and 1/2 minutes into the second quarter. Butler making it happen inside. The defense has to make it tougher for Butler. Can’t give him that. Now here’s Smart [Applause] Lorabia with the screen. No good that time. Nice defense from Kaminga. Butler feeling out of it. Healed outside. No good on the triple. Lakers leading by seven. Pass to Cleba. Here’s Smart. [Applause] Closing in on four minutes played here in the second quarter. Reeves the pass to Cleba. Lock at six. Los Angeles needs to get off a shot here and Curry pulls it down. And so Curry will bring it up for Golden State. Only giving up two points this quarter. [Applause] Healed outside over Cleba. heal can’t hit. Okay, so if I were to say this was a disaster of a period for him, it would be an understatement. But hey, sometimes you got to shoot your way out of the slump, even for him. Los Angeles with another miss. Warriors trail by seven. Butler kicks to Curry. Pass to heal. Now here’s Kaminga. Now here’s Butler. He’s defended by Reed. It’s Curry outside. It’s held in by Los Angeles. Well defended that time. He’s a shooter that the D has to close down on quickly when he’s ready to pull the trigger. Reeves finds Labradia. Back to Reeves. Misses and the dry spell continues. And you don’t see that every day. Usually he’ll convert when he gets that close to the rim. [Applause] Outside Curry, the offensive rebound, Jackson Davis. When he’s on the floor, offensive rebounding is always going to be a strength for them. Greg, he keeps so many possessions alive, doesn’t he? Yeah, you can feel coach smiling on the sidelines, every offensive board. And so JJ Reick will call a timeout. He’s ready to talk things through with him. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] And the Lakers with some changes. LeBron comes in for Jake Larabia and Luca Donuch subbed in for Austin Reeds. Different look here for the Warriors. Green, he’s checked in for Trace Jackson Davis. Moody comes in for Jonathan Kaminga. Pajki, he’s checked in for Buddy Heel. And Curry subbed in for Curry. Outside Smart. Pass to James. Back to Smart to end the route. Yes, it’s James picking up the assist. Smarts got five points in the quarter. And Greg, everyone talks about the importance of basketball IQ. Can you win in the NBA with a low IQ team? Boy, it would be tough. I mean, there’s a reason younger teams typically don’t win at the highest level, but you need to take those lumps and get that experience and learn from those lessons. It’s time to send it over now to our reporter, Ally Leforce. Hey, Kevin. Draymond Greens talked about his mind for the game. He said, “I’ve never been the tallest or the fastest. We all have gifts. My IQ is a gift that was enhanced by great coaches. I was taught the game properly. So, I’m very fortunate and extremely thankful for the coaches that I’ve had in my life.” Kevin paying tribute. Nice job. Okay. Thank you, Ally. No good from outside. Shocking that he just bricked that one. The defense got real lucky there. Here’s Pajki. Six on the shot clock. Fires the three. Hits it from three-point range. Pajk’s got five now. If you give him that kind of separation, oh, he’s going to take full advantage. Up top, Donic. Guarded by Curry and Smart with the basket on the assist by Donic. He’s got eight. He was inside his own head in that first quarter. You could see it now. He’s doing a much better job of letting the game come to him. Shot from free throw range. Rebounded by Smart. Los Angeles leading by eight. LeBron outside. Pass to Donic outside for Smart and it’s Smart again missing. And so Green will bring it up for the Golden State Warriors. And here is Curry guarded by Smart. Back to Green. Butler in the corner. [Applause] rebounded by the Lakers. Konic has got his sixth rebound on the night. RJ, when you talk about Jimmy Butler, he is definitely a tone setter. Yeah, Kevin, on the court and in the locker room, this man is tenacious. He lets you know exactly what he’s thinking. Teams fear him and sometimes his teammates do as well. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. I I I’d love to see them impose themselves a little more on the backboard. That’s a great way to find confidence. Always a surefire way to get back in the game. Here’s PMski. Missile blows. Bucket is good. He’ll have a chance at the line to make it a three-point play. Yeah, and all eyes were on Butler, but he has the vision to find the open man. The Warriors shooting their first free throw of the game right now. And if we want to take a look back, they converted about 76% from the line. And so Steve Kerr decides to call a timeout. He’s going to take a minute here to get things straightened out. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] And some changes here for the Lakers. Aton, he’s checked in for Maxi Cleba and Ruy Hatchimals subbed in for Vanderbilt. And the Warriors also making a change. Kaminga checked in. [Applause] And that one misses. Well, Richard, you had an interesting view of the start of the Warriors Dynasty. Yeah, I was very very blessed to be a part of that Steph Clay and Draymond’s first playoff run back in 2013. Matter of fact, some of the Warrior fans are still mad at me for some missed free throws, but I was 90 years old. Let it go. Warriors trail by six outside Curry. Kaminga sends a screen for Curry. Pass to Green to the wing on the left. Kaminga finds Curry. Oh, Curry. So accurate from three-point range. Such a quick release. As soon as the ball touches his hands, it’s gone. Outside. Oh boy. A lot of contact there, but he gets the call and will shoot two. And as the days and months go by, Greg, it still may take us some time to get over the shock of last season’s trade of Luca Donic. And we know the question marks as far as conditioning and defense that led to it. Take a break. But hard to bet against a talent of his caliber. [Applause] That free throw no good. And this summer, Greg, new contracts for LeBron and Luca. And the Lakers have reloaded around their stars. And there are always high expectations when you dawn the purple and gold, but some tough competition in the West. They will have their work cut out for him. Austin Reeves has checked in for Marcus Smart. Good on the second free throw. And you look at the addition of Jimmy Butler. G. Why has he been such a fit for the Warriors? He really is an unselfish high IQ superstar. And that’s what the Warriors are all about. and and his isolation interior scoring has given them another look offensively. Now here’s Moody still scoreless and it’s with the rebound. Eightton’s got his sixth rebound on the night. The game has been very close in a lot of areas but rebounding has been the one differentiator thus far. And there’s a minute 45 left in the first half of basketball. Curry is inside. Guarded by Donuch. Outside Curry beyond the arc and another three for Golden State. Yeah, that’s two straight three-pointers they’ve allowed. Donic kicks to LeBron. LeBron playing like a big man inside. He’s looking much more confident here in the second quarter as far as his scoring goes. Outside Kaminga over Reeves. That one’s good. The Laker lead is cut down to three points on the bucket from Kaminga. Enzo Donic will bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. [Applause] LeBron James hammers it home. This is classic LeBron leaping off the floor for a powerful dunk. [Applause] There’s 49 seconds left now here in the second. [Applause] Pajki finds Curry. Green with a screen on Donic. Curry outside and the Warriors. Another three. Three triples for him this quarter. Four overall Curry against Donic. LeBron James on the wing. He’s got eight. Too much strength. LeBron powering his way inside. And at the offensive end, he’s done about as much as they could have hoped for today. Curry outside unable to get that one. And here is Donic from outside the arc. And no good that time. And so it’s LeBron James making things happen for the Lakers. He notched eight points in the quarter and has that terrific basketball instinct on display. Back right after this. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Hey folks, welcome. The Lakers wrap up the first half in what’s been a closely contested game so far. The front office made it a priority to lengthen the bench, and you’re seeing those returns tonight. Yeah, this is a team that can throw a lot of fresh bodies at you. And now, let’s take a glimpse at some of the games on the upcoming schedule. Well, I think for the Warriors, they don’t get their home opener until next game. But tonight, they start this new season on the road. Kind of like Kenny storming into the kitchen and trying to take all my barbecue chicken. That’s because you’re in my building and I’m eating all the barbecue chicken, big fella. And that’s all for us. Now it’s time to send it back to Kevin Harland for the beginning of the third quarter. [Applause] And after a fairly even first couple of quarters, the second half could turn out to be a great one as both teams try to gain an edge. Curry has been sensational. Man, he’s been running wild on him through that first half. Absolute dynamite on offense. If they don’t change their approach in the second half, let’s just say his success will continue. [Applause] And the Warriors with possession here, trailing by four. And Golden State looking at who they’ve got. Butler is the four and Green operates as the small ball center. Backourt pair will be Curry and Pajki. And it’s Moody in at the small forward. And here’s Green outside. Good. And Curry gets the assist. Curry’s got his third assist on the night. And here is Los Angeles now. Reeves outside. Back to Donic. Lakers passing it around. Hatimura the pass to Aton. Eightton. A screen on Kirk. Donic. Bounce pass. Four on the shot clock. Aton. And he makes that one. And the Lakers lead by three. And right there you see the decision making ability of Hatimora sets his man up perfectly. Pass to Pajki. The kick outside to Butler. No good. That would have tied it. And Los Angeles guys shooting 47% pretty solid. And outside his three-pointer off the mark. This is the definition of forcing it. He’s trying to get himself going, but taking tough shots just won’t do it. Green passes to Butler outside curie. Rebound. The Lakers. Donic has got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. From D. Breeds hits the three-point bomb. And now a six-point Laker lead. You got to respect the three-point shooting of Breeze. He can be dangerous from there. The Warriors have gone one of three since starting the second half. Outside Green. [Applause] Murray finds Green. Here’s Butler. He can’t get that one. Good work defensively by Hatchim. Rough start to the second half for them. Only getting one of the past four shots to fall. Here’s Donic. Warriors with the rebound. And let’s be honest, they’re winning in spite of his atrocious shooting performance. Pass to Moody. Now Butler. No one near Curry as he lets it go. Good. And Butler gets the assist. Curry’s got 17. On a night like tonight, Steph Curry is mustwatch basketball. He can score from anywhere. And so JJ Reick will call a timeout. Coach is going to take a few minutes to regroup and go over the strategy. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Taking a look here at the numbers for Curry. Great showing for him last season. Last season put up about 24 points per six assists and four rebounds. And when they need to add defense, that’s who they look to. It’s hard to find defensive spark plugs, but he is one of them. The whole team comes alive on D when he’s in the game. A touch over two and a half minutes of basketball played here in the third quarter. James finds eight on the wing. Reeves. He’s defended by PMPski. We’ve seen this before. Reeves is a skilled offensive player. He can fill it up. Curry against Hatchima. Here’s Poachki. Good. And Curry gets the assist. Curry’s got four assists now tonight. the real. Come at us and we’re coming right back at you. Yeah, I love the competitive fire right there. You drain a triple on us and I’m coming for my revenge. Now here’s Donic. Six points for him trying to come right back with a three of his own, but it’s no good. [Applause] LeBron against Butler. Pass to Pajki. Green the screen. Six to shoot. Here’s PMski. He’s covered by eight. Lakers leading by three. Donic kicks to James. Reeves outside. Buries the long range jumper. Reeves has got nine points now in just the second half. He’s found his rhythm from deep and and you can see the confidence and of course it helps space the floor which gives this offense more room to operate. Richard, what do you see in what Luca Donuch sees on the floor? Well, Kevin, I think he’s tracking all five defensive players and all four of his offensive teammates. He always seems to find a way to get players involved. You know what? Nice job there on the attack at the rim drawing the contact. And a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. Wow, they’re moving the ball around so well, guys. Quick passes, letting the next guy do the work if you don’t have a look. And on top of that, they really been dialed in from deep. Just dropping triple after triple. [Applause] Three throw good. Moody. And for two seasons running, Richard, the Lakers have bowed out in the first round. How do they change that and go further? Well, now they’ve been able to balance this roster a little better, adding some size up front. That was something that really hurt them last year against the Wolves. That one falls. So, he hits both of them. R.J., There were questions about the two timeline approaching Golden State, but some of those young guys have made a difference and some haven’t. But those team friendly contracts of those younger players, that’s one advantage and a way to keep that energetic talent around their young stars. And making it look easy. LeBron overwhelms the defense inside. Let’s check in now with our Ally Leforce who’s got a story for us. Ally. Hey guys. the Lakers going out and acquiring superstar talent in Luca Donic. LeBron James said, “Everything I do on the floor, Dantic has the ability to do it or even do it better. That’s how great he is. Even at his young age, he’s such a unique special player, a generational talent.” Kevin, back to you. They’re clearly happy to have him. Ally, as always, we appreciate your reporting. Lays it up and in on the nice reverse. And now an eight-point Laker lead. Vintage LeBron there owning the lane. I mean, who’s going to stop that? And here are the Warriors now. Now, Pompeki, he’s got 10. Curry outside. Curry laser guided shot from deep range. And he got loose from the three-point range in the first half and showing signs here that he still got the flow in the second. And so JJ Reick will call a timeout. Looking for a breather and maybe adjusting a thing or two. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] These teams were last season’s best passers. The squads with the most assists in the NBA. The Warriors fourth. Ball movement was one of the keys to what they did last season. Every squad talks about teamwork. These guys backed it up. [Applause] Oh, here’s Reeds. He’s got 16. Donic looking it over. On the wing. James defended by Moody. Shot clock at three. And here’s Thompson from the arc. Jimmy Butler with the rebound. Butler’s got four rebounds in this game. He’s not making much of an impact from Zeke. His sole three-pointer came in the first half. Reeves outside, kicks it out to James. Out of bounds. Golden State takes possession. Smarts check in for Los Angeles. [Music] Warriors trail by five over in the corner. Green pass to Moody. Butler in the corner. Block at six. Rebounded by the Lakers. Donic has got nine rebounds now tonight. Let’s just say his subpar shooting is just one reason why they are trailing in this ball game. James in the post defended by Moody. James in the post. Beat the shot clock, but it’s off the mark. Warriors trail by five. Butler dishes to Curry. Green with a screen for Curry trying to find Green. He’s got it now. Oh, how about the execution inside by Green? He’s excellent at knowing when to attack down low. Here’s Smart. Eight points for him. [Music] [Applause] Pass to James to end the cold streak. Good. And Smart gets the assist. James has got 16. I know what they say, defense wins championships, but you need some bucket getters, too. Now, back to Curry. Butler against Hatchima. They kick it out to Green. No good on the three. And so it’s Hatchima who brings up the ball for the Los Angeles Lakers. They’ve led by as many as 11 points. Now here’s Smart and Aiden throws it down. He’s a nimble guy for someone with that size. Eighton can get off of his feet quick for a lob. Curry with it. They’ve been looking out of sync offensively. Yeah, that their offense has ground to a standill. Pompeki, it doesn’t go for him. Nice D from Donic. James looking around. [Music] Pass to Eaton. Back to James. And here is Aton. The three-pointer. No good. Now here’s Moody. [Applause] Here’s Green from 13 ft. It goes down. Green’s got seven points for the quarter. And he’s showing signs now of life after going scoreless through the half. [Applause] Back to Moody outside. Butler to the middle trying to find Green. He’s got it now. It’s good. And now just a three-point Los Angeles lead. And this is where Green looks to score. He’s comfortable and confident down low. And so JJ Reick will call a timeout. Coach is going to talk some things over with the team. might be seeing something to adjust. [Music] [Music] I feel I [Music] go out. I I go out. [Applause] [Applause] Big group substitution here for the Lakers. Maxi Cleba. He’s checked in for DeAndre Eaton. Vanderbilt comes in for Ruie Himeura. Jake Larabia has checked in for James. And it’s Austin Reeves in for Donic. Lakers leading by three. Pass to Cleba. Now Reeds covered by Heel. Aravia passes to Smart. for three. Drills the three-pointer. Smart’s got 11. And it’s big when Smart is hitting from deep. Really helps open up this offense. Healed outside. Back to Milton. Here’s Larabia. Defended by Milton. Smart passes to Reeves. Smart with a screen on heel. Here’s Reeves again. Los Angeles. And after really leaning on that three-point shot in the first half, seeming like they’re just getting away from it here in the second. More of the shots coming from the interior. Now, here’s Bonanovic. And that one no good to start him off from the And hard work on the glass once again, guys. And they put a lot of effort and focus on the backboard. Vanderbilt setting the pick for Reeves. And the dunk by Vanderbilt. Nice pass by Reeds. Reading the floor. That’s one of his strengths. Warriors trail by 10. Pass to Jackson Davis. And here is heel. And again, it’s the Warriors missing to the paint. It’s stolen by Kinga. Healed against Reeves. Here’s Milton. [Applause] Back to Jackson Davis. Pass to Heield. Five to shoot. Stolen by Reeds. And no need to rush this. Let the clock run down. Yeah, you don’t have to be quick. You just have to be deliberate outside. Smart. There’s the three. No good on the shot. And so it’s the Los Angeles Lakers going into the break with a 10-point lead. They’re playing a bruising game inside and it’s working for them. We’ll get right back to the action when we return. And let’s take now this moment to bring up our State Farm assist of the game. And you know, you can always count on him for at least a couple of these pretty assists over the course of a game. And this one, a thing of beauty. And the ability to drop your jaw with the pass is something you rarely see in this league. What a talent he is. Fourth quarter of action is upon us. Thanks as always for joining us. Austin Reeves out there with Marcus Smart. Then it’s Jake Larabia. Then there’s Maxi Cleba. And it’s Vanderbilt in at the fourman position. That’s who’s in the game for the Lakers. Here’s Kaminga following the three by the Lakers. Connects from three-point range. And an eye for an eye. Both teams working to stretch the floor. This is today’s NBA. Hey, we see this kind of exchange more often than not. Los Angeles leading by 10. Reeves the pass to Smart. Reeves with the screen on Heel. Bogdanovich against Smart. A D by Bdanovic. Warriors shooting just 39% from the field. Struggling to find that net. [Applause] Butler against Vanderbilt. And Butler gets it to go. Butler’s got it back down to single digits for the Warriors at point blank range. Oh yeah. Yeah. You’re not missing from there. [Applause] We’re just over a minute into this final quarter of play. Lorabia with the screen. Here’s Reeds. It’s hauled in by Jackson Davis. The eight-footer. The rebound by the Lakers. Vanderbilt’s got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. Here’s Reeds. Money from the wing. Reeves has got five points now in the quarter. Unwilling to let up even for a moment. That’s his killer instinct. Just fanning the flames. Always plays hard until the final whistle no matter what the situation is. Here’s Butler after the basket by Los Angeles. Down to five on the shot clock. Golden State needs to get off a shot. Healed can’t hit. Not quite enough defense that time around. Just lucky he was off. Smart puts the pick in for Reeves. Back to Arabia. Lakers passing it around. Kaminga against Reeds. Nice defense from Kaminga. And here’s Field. He’ll bring it up for the Golden State Warriors. And it’s Labraia with the rebound. You cannot play worse offensively. Although he’s trying and he hasn’t made one shot yet. I feel for outside for Smart. Over to the left wing. Pass to Reeds. Butler with the steel. Jumps up and Butler running the floor. And Butler on the break. You can’t give him any room to run or you might get your feelings hurt. Lakers leading by eight. Here’s Smart covered by Heel. Now here’s Vanderbilt from outside. Off the mark [Applause] outside. Butler. Just five on the clock. Here’s Kuminga offline with his three. Smart deciding where to go with it. Pass to Vanderbilt on the wing. Reeves. Arabia passes to Vanderbilt outside. Smart from deep and the rebound goes to the Warriors. Well, despite some uneven shooting from him, they’re still out in front. Pass to Lavia. Reeves against Butler. Reeves. The pass to Smart. Here’s Labia. Los Angeles with another miss. Warriors trail by eight. He lobbs it up. No doubt that Butler continues to improve his passing. An excellent playmaker. Really wants to make his teammates better. Lakers have gone just two of eight in this fourth quarter. The final quarter not treating them well so far. Inside Outside for Smart. Back to Vanderbilt. And here’s Reeds outside. Jimmy Butler with the rebound. Butler’s got his seventh rebound here tonight. Pass to Jackson Davis. Healed outside. [Applause] Now here’s Butler. He’s defended by Reed. Kaminga. No good. Lakers lead by six. And here is Clea. [Applause] Here’s Reeds. And the Lakers with another miss. Golden State’s gotten just one of four three-pointers to go down for them here in the fourth. [Applause] Here’s Butler to the inside. Nice pass. Let him to the rack perfectly for the layup. And now just a four-point Laker lead. [Applause] Now Reeves [Applause] outside smoke their offense stone cold. Another miss there in the corner. It’s healed outside. Kinga to the paint. Here’s Butler. Makes it off the glass. And this has been a great job of just getting into the middle of that defense and really scoring effectively from the paint. Reeves against BD and the dunk by Vanderbilt. And that bucket should stop the bleeding. And Los Angeles with some changes. Eightton. He’s checked in for Maxi Cleba. James comes in for Jake Larabio and Luca Donuch subbed in for Smart. Different look here for the Warriors. Green, he’s checked in for Trace Jackson Davis. Moses Moody comes in for Jonathan Kaminga. Pajki, he’s checked in for Bogdanovich. And Curry subbed in for Heel. The free throw off from Vanderbilt. Warriors trail by four. Curry pass it to Moody. [Applause] Back to Curry. [Applause] The kick outside to Butler. Pocket four. Vanderbilt with the block. Donic dishes to Aton. Nice ball movement here by the Lakers on the wing. Reeds guarded by Kirk. Donic outside. Here’s Pajki. Guarded by Donic. Green with a screen on James. Here’s Butler off the left rim and out. And Reeves has got the ball here for Los Angeles. 13 points was their biggest lead in the game. Vanderbilt kicks to Eightton. Reeves outside. [Applause] LeBron outside. James buries the three. It took a long time for him to get that first triple. Let’s see now though if he can get going. They need a bucket in a big way here to regain some confidence. Well, no passes to Green. Here’s Moody and stolen by LeBron. Pass to Reeds on the wing. Donic looking to get back on track here and Donic throws it down. And sometimes defenses sleep on Don’s ability to elevate. He He is capable of throwing it down. Warriors trail by nine now. for Moody. Green gets to Kirk to end the run. Vanderbilt with the rebound. Vanderbilt’s got double digit rebounds now in the game. Here’s Eaton. Got it to go off the glass. Boy, you have to be impressed with the offensive production. They have got it firing on all cylinders. They’ve had great execution and what stands out is that they’re just taking what the defense gives them. not forcing anything. And so Steve Kerr calls for the timeout. He’s clearly intent on wanting to lock in and make sure everyone’s on the same page. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Hatchima. He’s checked in for Vanderbilt right now. Well, let’s take a second to catch up with Ally Leforce on the sidelines. I was able to listen in on what Steve Kerr had to say to the team. Coach wanted his guys to ignore the scoreboard. He said, “Don’t even look at the numbers. Just take it possession by possession. Make every chance count, and we’ll see where we stand at the end of this game.” Back to you guys. All right, Ally. Thanks. Outside. Here’s PMski. He’s defended by Reeds. Shot clock at five. Now Green jacks up a three and it misses. The edge on the glass is the difference. It’s allowed them to build this lead. Now James puts it up. Count it. Nice touch. Honestly, I feel so fortunate to be able to sit here and watch this because there are not many vintage performances by LeBron James left to go in his career. Now, here’s Butler. Curry outside beyond the arc. Cleared away by James. No matter what looks they get, they just can’t convert to stop this run. This is snowballing for them. They’ve got to get a good look next time down. Reeves with it. He’s defended by PMski. Eighton sets the pick for James. Now Hatimura from deep. No good. Now here’s Moody covered by LeBron. Curry against Donic. No. Hatachi Murray. Oh, and he cannot get the layup. Give the defender credit. Willing to challenge the shot. Lots of other guys just let them score there. And these are the types of games where one team clearly has the edge. Tonight, it will be a win by a large margin for the Lakers. Tonight, they did a great job of getting everyone involved. They had the good passing and that led to some open shots. Solid play definitely, Kevin. And it’ll go down as their first official win of the new year. And they’ll take the win tonight, setting the tone in the first matchup of this four game season series. And as usual, some excellent work tonight in what was a quality big impact game for LeBron. Oh, he was at the center of everything that happened in this game. His energy was felt throughout the building and his impact, well, it was incredible. shooting two [Applause] and he knocks down the first one. And free throws have never really been an issue for Butler. Makes a living at the line. and he can’t hit the second. They can take their time on this possession. Yeah, it wouldn’t be a bad idea. Just give themselves a little bit of a break. Just two seconds between shot clock and game clock and he drives in. Here’s Vanderbilt from outside. No good there. So, it’s Los Angeles winning this one easy. Some good moments throughout this one, but they have the clear advantage down the stretch. Yeah, I mean, I I love the way they executed on both ends of the floor. Completely under control for the vast majority of the game. And whenever there was a misstep, they just didn’t allow it to fester. And that’s why they’re going to walk away with the win. Let’s send it over to Ally Leforce. She’s standing by with our player of the game. All right, guys. LeBron, a superstar matchup tonight. What goes through your mind when you’re facing that kind of a challenge? You know, for me, it’s never about an individual challenge um or an individual game. It’s about the team. Now, you do take the challenge anytime you’re going against anybody, but you also got to have your mind in the game, too, and not make it personal. So, taking a challenge, making sure your mind is in the right frame, and uh just trying to make plays for your teammates and be successful. Thanks, LeBron. Back to you. As always, Ally, we appreciate it. And that’ll do it for the first game of the NBA season. For Greg Anthony, Richard Jefferson, and Ally Leforce, this is Kevin Harland. Thanks so much for joining us on this presentation from 2K Sports. And as we leave you, let’s take a look at our player of the game, LeBron James.
