Fired Up | Big First Inning Propels Royals to Series Win
Just more than three weeks to go in the regular season. Kansas city very much in the thick of the playoff race. The Royals win tonight, Seattle loses and the Rangers lose. The Royals would hold a share of a playoff spot for the first time since late May but all not well for the Royals as they did lose Bobby Wood Jr due to back spasms. Whit will not play tonight. Stephen Cole who makes his second start for the Royals. He came over from the Padres in the trade for Freddie for me. He made debut last Saturday went six innings one run, four hits on 71 pitches, sharply hit to third and there is a clean scoop and throw from nick Lofton two ground ball outs in by kick joe ryan on the mound for Minnesota who has bedeviled the Royals ever since his first day in the major leagues. 100 and 74 strikeouts in the American League. He’s going to challenge the Royals offense to back walks to start the night for Joe Ryan very much unlike joe Ryan. Those are the first two walks he’s given to the Royals this year. Pasin leads the Royals in both home runs and RB I smack to right while they’re going back, this is over his head and off the wall. Jastrzebski will score. Garcia makes third and Pasin an RB I double three batters in 1 to 0 Royals. And now that 97 runs outstanding , especially with runners in position, gets a breaking ball, middle, middle and backspin it excellent at bat. The home team on the board still nobody out infield in for Salvador Perez. 0 to 4 last night as he swings and launches high and deep to left center Beckett goes and that is gone. The captain strikes big right away tonight. A three run homer 4 to 0. He continues to be that presence in the lineup in that locker room wants to play every single day. Wants to be in the middle of the big moments. How many high lines have we seen him get these people on their feet? A guy that has puddled Minnesota pitching forever. Sometimes when you lose your best player, Bobby Wood Jr, they can galvanize the locker room and get everybody going to say, hey, we all have to play collectively our baseball, the plate and there’s strike three on a splitter. And the first out for the Royals here in the first inning comes on the 24th pitch from ryan one away runner at first Lofton to the plate to the gap in left center field that won’t be caught that’s going to find the grass and that’s going to find the wall. Adam Frazier routing third, he will head home and Frazier will score. It’s an RB I double from Lofton and the Royals. He put up five here in the opening inning. It’s simple. Too many hitter friendly counts and when he’s missing in the zone, it seems like they’re synced up and they’re ball in the baseball. And so he’s going to have to really show some fight to be able to get out of his inning. And now the hometown kid, Carter Jensen, the second major league start. Here’s a line drive right at Julian, the first baseman two away. Kyle Isbell is the ninth man to bat here in the first inning. Popped up, should do it. It’s to outman in left field, James is under it kind of staggers a little bit, makes the catch and the inning is at long last over the 33 pitch, five run. First inning for Kansas City against joe Ryan matt Walner swung at the first pitch and lined out and now Royce Lewis, this is already the most game that Lewis has ever played in any one season shot off. The end of the bat can be picked up by Vinny flips wildly to kick and kick, miss the base and there’s maybe a break the twins looking for. And Then when he flipped it to Klik, Kli missed the base and Klik gives the twins a little life here with an E one pitches down an in ball four. Here we go back to back baserunners for Minnesota and with one out, Mickey Gaspar now has a chance to swing. There is a ground ball to the right side. Frazier to second out there and no return throw. Royce runs down to third base and they are on the corners for Brooks lead punch to third bobbled by Lofton finds it throws the stretch of hit to end the inning. So a bobble from lofted, he fouled a handle and look at the pass watch across the way with the bat early and now the stretch here in the second singles to left. They need a second and the inning continues as that pitch count continues to climb. Have two on twins are going to have a meeting in the center of the diamond. Adam Frazier coming up off speed and there is strike three and the second strikeout for Ryan the inning but a lengthy second. So a leadoff double for James Alman that snaps an zero for 14 and he’s in scoring position for Byron Buxton. Still looking for his first hit against the Royals this year. Buck drills one right center field. This may be his first hit of the year against the Royals. It is one hop up against the wall. It’s extra bases outman is going to score. Buck wants three. Byron’s into third base with an RB I triple and the twins are on the board. It’s 5 to 1 who else but Byron to light the candle, another triple for Byron Buxton. Last eight hits for Byron Buxton have all been for extra bases. He doesn’t like singles lately. Hanging slider there and smoked. And now Minnesota has a runner at third with nobody out. And Trevor Larnach who grounded out to second base in the first inning. Nick lines it to third position perfectly. Nick Lof, the Royals get a key out and Leha who grounded out sharply to Lofton at third base in the first innings. This one to shortstop, he’s going to get the run home. Garcia picks it up goes to first. Luke is out number two but it’s an RB I ground out and the twins are back in this thing. It’s a 5 to 2 game after joe Ryan barely got through the second inning without allowing a run. Thomas Hatch will come on to pitch in the bottom of the third inning. Lofton moves up to second base with two down. I he flied out to left field in the first inning as the Royals batted nine against Joe Ryan and a base hit to right center and that will score lofted Isbel to second and the Royals regain a four run lead. First hit with a runner in scoring position for Isbell in a while. He was just three for his last 32 with two outs in situations just like that. The Royals needed that. It’s still very early in the game and here’s Jastrzebski with a runner in scoring position is low. He walks for a second time and now Thomas Hatch has the same frustrated look on his face that Joe ryan had for the first two innings two on two out, 62 Royals in the bottom of the third. And now it’s garcia, the all star to garcia in the hole in the is Bell heading home. Aman’s throw is cut off RB I single, Michael Garcia. Another two out hit 72 Royals two on for Vinny Pascu and he swings and it’s a ground ball left side and that’s through. Here’s Jastrzebski around third to score. Garcia goes first to third and now the Royals have their biggest lead of the night 82 in the third inning and now Salvi 1st and 3rd 2 down this ball jetted to center field. Thankfully, it’s right at Byron Buxton. Mercifully, the inning is done eight Royals back. Three of them score going to be adam Frazier, the only Royal bound to third Jack Cag Leone and Nick Lofton slice down the left field line. That’s got a chance to drop Alman chase diving and he made the catch heck of a play by James Altman diving on the war track to steal a double from Adam Frazier. Nicely done, James athletically , he can go get that baseball and great jump off the bat to dive in up to second base with two down. And here’s Carter Jensen, he is now zero for five to begin his big league career and he has a chance to drive in a run with a hit. You see his mom there. But a great line about her son saying there was no plan B as he told his teachers, he was always going to be a baseball player line to right there is big league hit number one and guess what it will include RB I number one safe at second base. And for Carter Jensen dreams do come true. And mom and dad can finally high five in the family section at Kauffman Stadium. Carter Jensen is not just a big leaguer. He has his first big league hit and his first big league RB I A standing ovation because the crowd knew that this was a big moment for a hometown kid and the Royals have two on with one out. Lofton is the hitter and now he swings and lines it fair just inside the left field line and down into the corner. Frazier scores. Cag Leone goes first to third and Nick Lofton has his second RB I double of the night and the Royals lead 10 2 and Nick Lofton has his first big league three hit game. And now Carter Jensen who had an RB I double his last time up for his first big league hit and now he has a chance to drive in two more swinging a ground ball to second. That will get a run home Keld and throws out Jensen Cag Leone scores from third and Carter has driven in CS twice tonight and the Royals lead 11 to 2. Here’s Brooks Lee with two on and nobody out 1 to 2 on brooks Lee and helped him out, chased second strikeout who is one to two and he swings and a foul tip into Salvi’s glove and there are two down. He has only struck out 32 down for Byron Buxton and he swings and strikes out and fans are standing up behind the Royals dugout on the first base side and Stephen Coli gave up two hits to begin the seventh but he struck out the next three. Sam Long takes over ninth inning Royals three outs away from their third straight win. Julian strikes out what away line but right at third base and there are two men out now, James al should do it to left and Michael Messi makes the play and the Royals beat the Twins convincingly tonight 11 to 2 and have won the first two games in this series and go for the sweep here tomorrow.
The Royals burst out of the gates with a 5-run 1st inning and never looked back, cruising to an 11-2 win over the Twins to secure the series!

Let's Go Royals!!! ❤
Unfortunate that Bobby wasn't able to play, but it looks like they didn't need him
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING BOTH JENSEN AND CAGS IN THE SAME LINEUP. They will pick each other up. They both hit lasers right at fielders. Cags especially is swinging the bat well but if the Royals are gonna do this they gotta have cags and jensen in the lineup as much as they can. They have a ridiculous amount of lefties now lol. Amazing game today boys!
2:13 that is the strangest punch out sounds I have ever heard lol
Let’s goooo!!!
Lets goo!!! What an awesome game to watch!! Congrats Carter! Salvy has been my favorite forever as well!
If Garcia continues like this we have to admit that as an elite short stop who only gets shine when BWJ is out, his contract will be HUGE. He could easily be a top AL SS in addition to, even with regression, 260+ hitter
The Royals have been such a fun team to watch this year. Let’s go boys 🔵⚪️💪⚾️
Royals playing on rookie mode
1:30 perfect sound and swing combination for a grand slam
Looking like this with no Bobby is nuts
