Cam Heyward Gets $3M in Incentives Added to his Contract | Steelers Revise Cam Heyward’s Contract

Steelers Nation, we have breaking news as it pertains to the Pittsburgh Steelers. We finally have a resolution in regards to the whole Cameron Hayward situation. The Steelers and Cam Hayward have agreed to terms on a revised contract for 2025. Only only 2025 as the Steelers are adding 3.2 million in incentives tied to the playoffs and playoff wins only for 2025. only for 2025, which speaks to me as I don’t know if we’re going to do this again next year. I don’t know if Hayward’s going to go through all this garbage again next year. But all we know is that Hayward will play tomorrow. Hayward will dress tomorrow. He’ll play the entire season as long as he’s healthy. This hold out or whatever is done. He will not sit out. They have agreed to business and Hayward will play. I’m just glad it’s over. It’s pretty hilarious that he did all this nonsense just for potentially maybe 3.2 million. It’s not guaranteed. It’s just based off of if the make the playoffs and win certain playoff games, then he’ll get his raise. That’s how it’s constructed. So, there’s no guarantees added to his deal for this year or next year as he still has two years left on his contract. It’s just, hey, get us to the playoffs, get us these certain wins in the postseason, and you’ll get your money. which in my opinion that’s good business by the Steelers. They didn’t cave so much for Cam Hayward. They didn’t give him any guarantees. They didn’t give him a whole new complete contract. We don’t know what Hayward was asking for. We don’t know what Hayward wanted. But for all this to go down for seven or so months dating back to February, at least according to Hayward himself, and only to get potentially 3.2 million maybe money potentially. It’s interesting. Cameron Hayward, this is all finished. Thank God. I’m happy that it’s done. It’s very interesting that all this happened for maybe money, but Hayward’s done. What does this mean for his future? What does this mean for next year? I don’t know. I guess we’re going to have to worry about that in next year’s time. But that does got me wondering, are we going to go through this again next year? Are we going to go through this again in 2026? As her judge has two years left on his contract, and there are no more guarantees after 2025. So, he did all this. He had to think about his family. He had conversations about his family. He wants to be paid like a top defensive lineman in the league at 36 years old. And he caved for 3.2 million maybe money pretty much. This now puts him at 17th ranked interior defensive lineman pay-wise. This would get him potentially at 18 million, just a little bit over 18 million for Cam Hayward. But yes, all this for $3 million. all this now. It is better than the Steelers giving Hayward a complete new contract that maybe would have made him a top five defensive lineman. At his age and based off what Hayward did as a captain, as a 10 plus year captain and a leader, I’m glad that they didn’t give him the contract that I think Hayward wanted. I don’t know if this resolves anything to what Hayward desires. I still think Hayward ultimately had to cave in because deep down I think we all know Cam Hayward was not going to sit out. He was not going to miss games. He’s better than that. He cares a little too much in regards to the team and his legacy even though he does want to get paid. I don’t know if this completes his desires. I don’t know if this is exactly what he wanted. To me it’s just like, okay, I’ll take what I can get. It’s not guarantees. It’s just help us get to the playoffs, help us get certain wins, and then he’ll get extra money. He’s not guaranteed to 3.2 million, unless of course the Steelers go all the way through, which is obviously their mission this year. If the Steelers go all the way through, he’ll get 18 million this year. Otherwise, I don’t know if he’ll get anywhere close to 18 million. All this for an extra 3 million. But it’s done. The deal is done. There’s no more drama as of now. And Hayward will suit up. Does this make me feel better about Cam Hayward? No, it doesn’t. I’m still very distraught and upset and disappointed in Cam Hayward. Am I glad that this whole situation’s over? Yes. But the principle of the matter is I’m I’m still not fully embraced or welcoming back Cam Hayward just because oh my god, we got a deal done before game time. Literally hours before game time. Yeah. And it’s good that a deal did get done, but there’s no way that Cam Her did all this for three million. If if if it comes down to that that if that’s actually what Cam Hayward wanted was only 3 million that’s just stupid. Yeah, cuz this is there’s no way. This is incentive based. This is no way exactly what Cam Hayward wanted. And in fact, the incentive based is very similar to Aaron Rodgers and his incentives for his contract that he signed when he signed with the Steelers. All his incentives are playoffbased. So, for example, uh not Cam Haywood, Aaron Rogers. If the Steelers make the playoffs, Aaron Rogers gets another half a million. Hayward, I would imagine, gets something similar, maybe a whole million whopping. Yeah. And of course, if you just progress through the playoffs, you get playoff wins, then you just get an extra bonus. That could be an a million dollar bonus after a wild card win. That could be a $ 1.5 million bonus after a divisional round win, you know, stuff like that and so on and so forth. Yeah, we don’t know the full breakdown of Herbert’s contract as it is obviously fresh, but that that’s pretty much the extent that those are the details there. what he got from his roster bonus months ago, what he’s going to get from a salary throughout the regular season, that’s not changing. That’s not changing. What he’s getting extra is just if the Steelers can, you know, do something that they couldn’t do the last seven, eight years, which is advance further into the playoffs. No. No. Which I think is very fair. It’s either listen, you should play, you signed the contract, you should play, but we’ll give you a little something. that way. You’re going to have to earn it this time. You’re going to have to earn it, bro. Like, you’re you’ve been a captain here 10 years and you and of course everyone else, it’s a team effort. They haven’t been able to do anything in the playoffs. So, it’s either get us into playoffs and win and then we’ll pay you. I think that’s a fair deal by the Steelers. I think that’s fair business and that that sets a solid precedent for the Steelers in the in in the front office or in the locker room. You know, it would have been a bad setting by Omar Khan if he would have caved and gave Hayward what he might have wanted, which we don’t know, which is something that I just cannot envision Omar Khan doing in general, especially to a 36-y old defensive lineman. No, 20 plus million for Cam Haywood at his age. That’s just not a smart business move. No, it’s not a smart decision. So, he did give Hayward a little something. He gave a little something on the side, but it’s not performance based. It’s not statbased. It’s it’s all based off of playoffs. It’s go out there and give us exactly what we’re looking for. Go out there and give us what we want because we haven’t had it in a while. You want your money, you got to go out there and earn it again. And I think that that that sets a good setting for him in terms of future negotiations with other players that could be coming up or for the entirety of his Steeler GM career for Omar. That sets a good situation for him because if he would have caved and he would have given Haywood what he probably wanted, that just speaks to the locker room. Hey, maybe I could do the same. Khan didn’t K for Cam. He gave him a little something, but it’s like, all right, now you’re going to really have to show up and we’ll pay you. So, in regards to that, yeah, I think the Ste did some solid business there. I’m still disappointed it came down to this. I’m disappointed that Hayward had to go through all this just for potentially 3.2 million, but it’s done. He’s going to play. We will see him tomorrow versus Jets. We’ll see him all season as long as he stays healthy. And I guess he’ll be a Steeler for life. he’ll retire a Steeler. I just hope that this does not happen once again next off season and before next week’s or next year’s week one game. And I will mention uh there are no more guarantees in his contract after 2024 or 2025. So if the Steelers really wanted to in 2026, they could cut his contract and lose nothing. In fact, they would save over 19 million if they were to cut Hayward next year, which they can because there’s no guarantees and it save them a ton of cap space for for the offseason. Will they do that? I don’t think so. But let’s say Hayward does this again next year. The Steelers have every reason to be like, you know what, we’re going to we’re going to catch you here. I guess it all really depends on the season he has. If Hayward has another allp pro season, then I suppose Hayward can be like, all right, maybe you can cough up a little more for me. not just a season on what Haywood could potentially do, but maybe even how the rookies do. Harmon when he gets back healthy and YA Black having to fill in for Harmon since he’s out for at least this upcoming week against the Jets. Yeah. You know, if the rookies and if Bettton continues to get better and grow as a player, you know, they could just envision on a young defensive line like that and just look at, listen, Hayward, we appreciate everything you’ve done, but it’s just business. Simple as that. We’re looking to get younger here. You know, it’s something to kind of keep in the back of your mind for next year. Definitely. That is next year. that is for next year. But I, you know, it’s obviously that we’re we’re all suiting up for tomorrow in all of the 2025 season, but still want to think farther ahead in regards to his future. Could this be his last year? If he has another offro season, what could that insinuate for his future contract based off of the rookies, based off of the entire team? We’ll see. We’ll see what that what that is in regard to next year. But obviously that’s all going to have to come at the start of tomorrow and throughout the entire 2025 season because that will tell the tale for Hayward’s future. That’s right. But Hayward’s going to play. He’ll suit up and we’ll see him all season and he’s going to have to earn that money if he really wants it. Yes, he is. Uh I find it I will I’m not going to lie to you. I find it funny that he tied it to playoff wins because knowing Steel’s track record in their recent history, they don’t get playoff wins. So, did he just be like, “All right, we’re going to give you this, but let’s be honest, we might not win a playoff game this year.” Because the reality is we might not, but they could. So, they kind of gave him a little something, but at the same time didn’t really think about it. It all really depends how the season goes. With that being said, we’re going to get on out of here. You guys enjoy the rest of your night. We’ll see you guys tomorrow. We’ll be live for the Steelers versus Jets game. Let’s know you guys thoughts down in the comments below. How do you guys feel about the whole situation? Do you think Cam Haywood is going to get any of this money? Let us know down in the comments below. Love to hear you guys’ opinions. Hayward, I hope you’re happy. See you in the next one. See you tomorrow. Here we go, Steelers. Jets. And as always, like, comment, subscribe, and we’ll see you later. Pace.

The Cam Heyward Drama is over. Cam Heyward will not sit out games after the Steelers revise Cam Heyward’s Contract. Cam Heyward Gets $3M in Incentives Added to his Contract. All of this drama for incentives and not guarantees makes this seem all like a major waste of time but at least the Steelers didn’t gave and give Cam a brand-new huge contract.

  1. I really need you two and the people in the comments saying cam is greedy to understand something. CAM IS a 7 time pro bowler, leads the league in Pass deflection as a D linemen, which is a CB/ DB dominated category BTW . CHECK the list there's no other linemen for a while that comes close to Heyward when It comes to distrusting the pass. YET he's the 24 highest paid Interior D linemen in the league. YOUR mad he's asking for more money. YOU should be mad at the steelers for not having been paid this man. There is absolutely no excuse for this man not to at least be in the top 15 of highest paid Interior D linemen.

  2. Its just the worst look. They are literally ring chasing for Cam and Tj and they both were like nah more $$$$ too

If they win the SB he would have gotten what over a million anyway. Shit go do a commercial and youll get $$$.

  3. Damn…I was hoping Cam wasn't coming back. I've always had Cam as a solid reliable player but not an all time great up there with the likes of a Joe Greene, But rather the same level as a Brett Kiesel, Aaron Smith Casey Hampton.

  4. It's funny that you guys didn't have the same energy for TJ watt who would not play unless he makes 1 million dollar more than Myles Garrett all of that just for one extra million where is the outrage for that

  5. This fat bastard took anything he could get.. this piece of shit needs to be booed all year.. made over 100 million in his career and he extorted the Steelers… CAM WILL FAKE AN INJURY SOON!! He will pout like the bitch that he is by faking an injury in the first qtr
