Dave Robert issue – MLB Network STUNNED Dodgers worst loss to Orioles even Yoshinobu Yamamoto 10 K’s

toughest loss of the season. I’ve been watching baseball since I was 2 years old. I I grew up around the game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen uh a turn of events happening so quickly. We go from one out away from a no hitter and in a matter of what 10 12 minutes losing the ball game. And we had a healthy three nothing lead. And it’s unfortunate that this happened. I’m stunned right now. I I’m I’m stunned that this just happened. Like I said, I mean, we’ve been around the game. I don’t I don’t remember playing in a game like this where a guy was in cruise control, absolute cruise control, and he makes one mistake. Credit Jackson Holiday, he drives the ball. I was suddenly he came out of the ball game because Yamamoto’s been cruising and especially the way our bullpin has really not performed the last couple months. I thought at least Yamamoto at least try to complete the ball game. he comes out of the ball game and you know what they’re saying in the Baltimore dugout. Let’s go get the best guy, you know. So, it’s just unfortunate. But, nonetheless, if you get asked to come out and close the ball game, you got to get that one out. You You got to get outs to get out of that inning. I’m stunned right now that uh we lost this ball game. Well, yeah. I mean, Dodger fans are stunned. We’re all stunned. We couldn’t believe it. Um yeah, we were wondering, you know, hey, let him finish it. Um, but at the same time though, you know, we’ve said they don’t have a closer. I mean, talk about how vital they don’t have one. And obviously, you can’t get somebody in here to just get one out. Uh, that was critical even despite even despite the umpire maybe missed that one pitch would end the game. That that’s irrelevant on us honestly because you still had other chances to really go out there and close this game. And uh it’s it’s disappointing, embarrassing, it’s all the above. All the things we’ve heard the players talking about when they’re getting interviewed as they’re going through this skid, all of that culminated exactly into this moment right there when you end up blowing uh a guy who is a one out away from a no hitter and still lose that game. Yeah, that’s uh it’s hard to find words to really describe how disappointing that is. Dodgers one out away. Yoshino Yamamoto, he retires the first two hitters of the bottom of the ninth inning and then the home run by Jackson Holiday. And you know this we just felt like this just spoiled the moment. We didn’t feel like this was going to spoil the entire night. I think it was the one you know the pitch selection there would have been uh you know was the one that we were probably wondering like man he’s been so good with the split. And listen it’s Yamamoto’s been calling his pitches. I think he I think he had the pitch com with him as well. Both of them uh they were throwing a no hitter here, right? They were throwing a no hitter. So it’s not it’s just a matter it’s like really easy to say after like all your pitch selection stuff, but you know you made a mistake. He took advantage of that one. Uh but at the same time still got nobody’s you still have a two-run lead. You need one out. You got a two-run lead and you got to be able to, you know, find a way to get out of this one. And here’s a ball rocketed off the wall for a double. Then you hit Gunnar Henderson there on one two pitch on a onew pitch. Hits him in the back foot. Then you got to catch the ball too. And the Dodgers overall, you got to be able to block the ball and catch the ball. And I I’ve never liked that one knee crap. I It’s It makes it so hard for these guys. And it’s not their fault. This is what they’re forced to do, these big league catchers. And it And here’s the pitch to uh walk off the Dodgers. And I know the players are frustrated. Everybody in there frustrated. I know. The fan base is extremely frustrated. It’s just so difficult to watch. I’ll tell you it’s we we’ve been in you know the clubouses and you feel as a player when that just happens you feel awful for Yamamoto like you feel like oh my gosh our pitcher just was unbelievable today I mean it’s one thing to say oh you had a great performance and we couldn’t close this game out we missed like in the seventh inning came out he did a good job got us in you know we but where they were there to end it that way. Uh that’s where you’re like, really? Not only we playing awful, um but man, we really really just let one of our teammates down tremendously right there. Good teams finish. They finish. In football, you run the ball out. Here, here’s a running back. You finish. Basketball, you make sure you got the guy knocked down the free throws to win the ball game. You finish in baseball. Here’s the ball to our closer or the guy that we rely on to close out games. You got to be able to finish this type of game. I’m so I I feel sick right now, man. If I feel so bad for the guys in that that clubhouse because I know how hard they work, but dog on it, man, you that was tough because you also look from offensive side, we’re talking they been struggling. We know that. I mean, they’ve just been awful. We know that. Uh but then the way they worked to get the runs today against a pitcher who’s been outstanding and they were doing situational hitting. Love seeing the bunt get the sacrifice butt down. I mean your first start here you almost catch a no hitter and you come in and you get two bunts down. They need all that all all the stuff was needed in this game and you could see they were feeling it. They were trying to get that done and you can’t close the game. Like they were they were like this is the one thinking that we’re going to get 83. Yeah. Eight and two/3s. They played a great game. Great game. Unreal. Unreal. Truly was an unreal finish to the game right now. Instead, doesn’t have anything to show for what was an absolutely brilliant night for him. One out away from history. Yeah, listen. He understood what was going on with this Dodger offense really the last week or so. He went out there and pitched an absolute gem. Had everything working. Outstanding fast. He touched 98 in the ninth inning. Had great fast ball command. Outstanding breaking ball to go along with that split as well. He knew Dodgers desperate for a win here inducing Jackson Holiday 463 double play when they were threatening early in the ball game. There’s that breaking ball. Once again, I say it all the time. Your ace can feel when your team is struggling. Kind of like Clayton Kershaw when I played with him. He went out there and gave his team a chance to win this ball game. Should have won this ball game. And that’s why I say it all the time and it’s around the league. Yamamoto is that dodger ace. He pitched unbelievably well once again tonight. It was really an incredible performance by Yamamoto. No, no doubt about it. I mean, you have that one pickup in the third inning where he he walks the first two batters, but then still gets out of that uh doesn’t allow a hit. Settles in. This is really the one hit we were thinking, okay, he’s one out. Is he going to be able to get this done? Um but you felt it too, didn’t you? right after he’s taking Yamamoto out right there when you’re coming out you’re like taking him out right there like it’s almost like Yamamoto knew like like really um he knew like coming out you know this is the way it’s been when all of a sudden but man uh you’re wondering who you were going to turn that ball over to and and it’s just it’s it’s crushing it really is crushing you know I just think about there are times when you’re I remember Grady Little say this to us remember he pulled me aside one time and our team was struggling to score runs and we were mad at you maybe a couple runs two or three runs But, you know, obviously losing games, same way. And he’s like, you know, sometimes you just need your pitcher to go out there and throw a shut out. And like Yamamoto took it upon himself, like, I’m throwing the shut out today. I’m going out there and taking it upon myself to do that. And he did that. He delivered. And they still couldn’t close that game out. This is a gut punch, man. And it’s it’s it’s hurting right now. Those guys are hurting. And they got to figure out a way to regroup. I can’t believe I’m going to say this again. Got to salvage the series. Yeah, we’re Yeah, we’ve said that. Got to salvage the series in Baltimore. But you have to do it. I mean, that’s one thing part about being a big leager, too. There are things where it’s just going to really test you, man. You get kicked in the teeth a lot. Well, guess what? You got kicked in the teeth in some other areas, too. You got to figure out a way to fight back and win the game tomorrow night. I know it’s as tough it is right now. You got to fight because this team is too good, man. too talented to be where they’re at right now. Just too good, man. Lost five in a row for the Dodgers on this road trip all against last place teams. Let’s go back to Baltimore. Yoshi Nou Yamamoto is standing by with Kirstston and the media. Yoshi, you were excellent tonight. What do you attribute just to being able to get through eight and two/3 innings of no hit work tonight? [Music] [Music] Yeah. Um this is this is the first time for uh working working with the Ben and so we were communicating um between the innings um very meticulously also before the game too and I think I you know cuz he helped me to uh hit my spot put me in a right spot. We saw the ovation for you just the success that you had. Does it take away the feeling that you were having out there just considering now the loss that this game has? Take away I’m sorry first part take away the feeling. Take the feeling. [Music] you know, cuz uh We’ve been we’ve been in a little bit rut uh uh lately. Um but you know cuz we are working hard and then we got to come overcome this um you know little hard time. Did you execute that cutter the holiday the way you wanted to or what what happened on that pitch? for [Music] um I I think you know the cutter wasn’t uh not necessarily that bad you know cuz the location wasn’t bad and then I think you know just like his swing he put the just good swing on it. Were you calling some of your own pitches tonight? Cuz I know you thought you were going to your belt a little bit. Here and there uh here and there, you know, cuz I was handing um sending a sign through the pitch gun, but the base um baseline was, you know, Bear was calling calling the game. Would you have liked to try to stay in to finish the game? the whole game today. Would you like to stay after the home run? [Music] Uh I was expecting if I allowed a hit and then that’s a time for me to uh get out of the game. You guys have had a lot of close losses, tough losses recently. How much more difficult is this one just given the way the ending played out? So no, [Music] it’s hard. Of course, it’s really hard to swallow, but you know, cuz it’s only thing we can do is just we got to we got to get together, put things together, and overcome. How aware were you of the no hitter as the game went on? And to be honest, I was not really expecting to go through all the way through to the ninth inning because my pitch count was not not necessarily uh low. So I was taking one one inning by one inning. had a bit more life to the fast ball just kind of keeping in that 97 98 range. What do you think led to that? [Music] [Music] you know, in recent my outings, you know, cuz toward towards um the latter half of the um uh my game, um I feel like I’ve maintaining a good feel on those of my fast So I think that’s why

  1. The Os season has been over for a while now, but they are killing it as spoilers! Much respect to Yamamoto, tho. But we can't be humiliated on the night we celebrate 2,131! Let's go Os:)

  2. The interpreter is so painful.
Listen to his voice in the beginning and in the end. You can clearly tell he is ready to cry in the end.😂 He is the worst in MLB. Maybe he is a dealer for Yoshi?

  3. There were runners in scoring position on second and third with one out, runner on third with one out with Betts at the plate…you could drive a Mac truck through the space between first and second but no attempt to put the ball in play….only a continuing attempt to pull the ball. Either the manager is not managing his hitters in the right direction, the players do not heed the instructions of the batting staff or manager, or the baters(especially the stars) are permitted to do what they feel like doing whenever they want. Two strike hitting is not evident for most part.

  4. the dodgers next move outta be to bench treinen and pages on sunday. but no shock here that the blue crew blew this game given that for the past couple weeks they imo are the worst team in baseball with the shoddiest teamwork

  5. I would like to thank Dave Roberts for allowing yamamoto Yoshinobu to continue pitching even after he exceeded the pitch limit to achieve a no-hitter.
Cubs' Craig was replaced by Imanaga Shota, who pitched no hits until the seventh inning

  6. Dodgers are going to finish the season in 4th place with a 25 game losing streak and end up with a 78-84 record. I haven't seen the Dodgers play this crappy in 33 years, Dodgers bullpen will keep blowing leads night after night. That's why the Dodgers will not win another game this season.

  7. Most stupidest loss i have ever seen. If i am Yamomoto I am going straight to Andrew Freedman and requesting a trade. WTF how can I almost go for a no hitter and you can’t even get one out to end the game

  8. You guys got it wrong, Yamamoto and the Dodgers were spoiling Cal Ripken's 2131 thirty-year celebration in front of the home crowd. The O's have been the most disappointing MLB team based on expectations. The O's played about 15 straight games against playoff teams so far they are 4 games above 500 and they are a 10 game under 500 for the season. For whatever reason they play better against better teams. That being said this was the devastating loss I have seen this year for any team.

  9. Thanks jerry. Speaking for the fans. Dave is a fkn dipshit. We been winning despite him. Not bc of him. Imagine how many rings we’d have if we had bochy this whole time. You dont see seager batting leadoff.

  10. Dave Roberts is so bad he's trying to act like he cares so much about Yamamoto he's got to take him out. He's the players manager, right? that's why they have no fight in them at all because it doesn't matter how bad you play, he's your buddy. Please beg Dusty Baker to come out of retirement this crap would never fly. so tired of Roberts!!!

  11. Bnas tardes # 137 – Dave Rober nunca ah sido ni regular como manager, No se como lo han mantenido tanto tiempo en ese puesto, Ayer fue una muestra mas q no tiene nivel para ese cargo.
