Red Sox vs. D-backs Game Highlights (9/7/25) | MLB Highlights
Well, one of the great traditions here on Sunday home games, kids take the field with the Diamondback players. And even more special today on Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. Every child on the field is from Phoenix Children’s Hospital. But certainly just want to spare a thought and a prayer to all the kids and parents with kids affected by cancer across the country and across the world. No question about it. One of the cooler things I’ve seen on the field this year when they started to play the anthem. The little young lady that was with Tyler Lock there went over and held his hand during the national anthem. Uh that’s very very touching. You will see the Diamondback players today with special cleats because of Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The kids were the ones who designed the new look. So if you see some zoomedin shots of some kind of unusual looking shoes, know that that is the reason why. And then it’s going to be fun to showcase those. I know we were doing it in the booth all weekend long. Finally get to see these bad boys out on the field. All right, time for the finale now. Pitch to your strength. And we know what that is for Ryan Nelson. That’s the high fast ball. We’ve seen the Red Sox chase a lot of high fast balls in the first two games of this series. As this is hit right off of Nelson and the former shorts stop showing off the moves for the first out. He’s got a smile on his face. Boy, what a recovery after getting drilled by that line drive. looked like it caught him on the right thigh somewhere. Look at that bare hand pick and throw like a third baseman fielding a bunt. What a play. He’s got a little bit of a grin on his face. He’s going to have a bruise, but I think he’ll be all right. That one driven up the alley in right center field on the run is Thomas Slow and he’ll make the catch. Alec runs it down and a one, two, three first for Ryan Nelson. And Brian Beo 11 and six, 307 earned run average. Socks have won six of his last seven starts. He’s been throwing the ball great. Now he’s not going to face as many lefties as he did against Cleveland. It was all lefty up and down the lineup. You got some righties, especially in the back half of this. Caught on and miss. Struck him out. Put him away with a sweeper. They go one, two, three. Trevor Story 259. He’s at 23. Playing in his 140th game. Swinging a drive out to left center field. That’s it. Well, McCarthy racing back, turning around. It’s going to be off the wall. Story just missing a home run. He’s into second with a double. But you’ll take that leadoff double and again looking for a spark. A lot of times this year it’s been that man right there, Trevor Story. And here’s Nathaniel Low checking in. 225 18 home runs. 2 minutes 77. Drilled left field. McCarthy and nowhere for Story to go. One out for Rob Snider, the UFA product. He was part of their national championship team in 2012. And he’ll work a walk. Rob taking ball four first and second. Will that be the start of something with David Hamilton approaching the plate swinging out shot one hopper to second Alexander to second for one Pomo to first fires a strike for a double play and the inning is over. Went to the fast ball and a 463 twin killing gets Nelson out of the inning. Hardly order for the Dbacks. Gabrielle Moreno will lead things off against Brian Beo. Broken bat floater into center field. A base hit for Moreno to start the second. Way to stay on that ball too. That was again the two seamer in right on his hands and coming into him. Oh, this one’s going to help out the diamond back cause and gets away from Wong and into scoring position is Moreno. Conor Wong getting his first start of the series behind the plate on the infield. Hamilton had a little trouble getting that out of the glove but got it there in time. Moreno down to third with one down. And now they got an opportunity to get somebody in without a hit. and a guy they put on wheels. Alexander starts in center field, third base, and second base in the series. Bounce back through the middle. It’s a base hit for Alexander. Marino comes home to score and the Dbacks get the lead on the Blaze Alexander single. It’s one to nothing. Boy, I just love the way this crowd responds to Blaze Alexander. He’s really becoming a new fan favorite here. He delivers in the clutch once again. Ground ball. Stories got that. Looking for someone to throw to and safe. Breman took the throw, but they got the runner in. Not Owens. Owens over there at third. Hamilton starts to run over there. So everybody’s safe. We see Hamilton playing way over in right field. He’s got to keep going. He’s got to keep going to that bag. That’s his all the way. Breakman can’t be expected to kind of come from where he is to get there. Hamilton for some reason just stopped. Two ground ball at second. The flip there. Story gets the out onto first and a double play. Nicely turned by the Socks. A run does score. Arizona in front one to nothing. Lawler leading things off here. One to nothing Arizona. High drive into left center field. Duran on the run slides and makes the play. That one hung up just long enough and a brilliant sliding grab by Jiren Durant. That’s an outstanding job right there. We saw him and Raphaela have a little bit of miscommunication yesterday. It’s nice to see Durant be aggressive to go get that ball, close down that gap. Breman advancing to second on the tapper up the middle. So one away. Man in scoring position. Trevor Story looking to pick him up. Trevor doubled nearly hit one out to left center field off the wall in the second. Driven into right field. That’s going to tie the game. Breman comes to third. He will score. TS10 stays hot. A laser to right. His second hit. Ties the game at one. That swing right there is when Trevor Stories at his best. Got a 97 mph fast. Saw it deep. Drove it the other way. Moving the runner over and in. That’s what the Red Sox offense has been missing over the past few games. 3-2. He’s running and that’s going to be ball four. So he’s walked two in the inning. Red Sox have had three men on in this inning. First and second for ref Snider. He took ball four in the second. Red Sox trying to get on top for the first time today. Bounce towards the middle. Glove by Pomo. Shovel the second for one on to first. A double play. 643. Inning over. So long as he’s healthy, there’s a good chance he’s going to be in the top two in the National League in triples every year as he just spanks that one into left field. Carol aboard here to begin the fourth inning. McCarthy a productive ground out as he hits it hard but low could not turn the double play and two down for Alexander. There goes Carol for third. Wong’s throw safe. Really close. It was a high tag on the chest. Nobody close to him got a walking lead like he always does out there at second base. And when Beo didn’t make him stop, he just kept on going. Just did get in underneath the tag. High on the body that time. Oh, Carol’s going to try and come home and he’s in there. Speed kills, baby. That ball only got about 10 ft in front of home plate. Beo had to go and get it. An underhand glove flip and Carol beat the toss. It’s 2-1. You can’t stop Corbin Carol speed. Inning over. Couple strikeouts and a ground out. More frustration for the Socks. 2-1 Arizona halfway home. Two to one lead as we get to the back half of this one. Ryan Nelson trying to finish strong here. Right back to Nelson. Oh, he got him the first time in the hit. And this time Nelson said, “I don’t think so.” No. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice. Shame on me. Boy, I had to glove right in the right spot that time. Called strike three. Bregman was not looking for a heater. He took one right down the shoot. Two outs, three strikeouts for Nelson. Breaking ball hit in the air to right. Carol going back and he will make the catch eye of the track and the inning is over. Ryan Nelson sets down the last 70 bases. So Carol’s on again. Moreno coming up, but Carol very dangerous at first base already with a theft and a run. There he goes. It’s down. Poke towards right and oh he can’t make the catch. Repider. Carol going to round third. He’s going to score. Yeah, chaos. Little looper out there toward the foul line, but Schneider just couldn’t close ground quickly enough. And with Corman on the move as the pitch was being delivered, he gets waved home at second base. Hamilton will gather that and get it. Three to one Arizona at the end of six. Thompson’s one two is towards first. Knocked down again. Lleair flips to first for the out. I saved at least a run right there with that diving stop. And then he too recovers quickly. Knocked that ball down. Scrambles over from his belly. Feeds on to Ryan Thompson who gets over there and plenty of time to cover the bag. What a play. Well, now there’s two in scoring position and Thompson will face David Hamilton. Swinging a line drive into center field. That’s a base hit. Story’s going to come home and score. Low is over to third. I guess that’s why you don’t, but Hamilton delivers and it’s three to two. And now it’s up to Connor Wong. Hard hit, bobbled, recovered, thrown away. The ball gets into the dugout. Two runs will score and the Red Sox take a three to2 lead. Conor Wong sent down a second and the Red Sox flip it and they take a 43 lead on the misfire. Lawler had it come up off the glove and then he kind of reathers it. You figured, okay, he’s gathered himself. You see this ball kind of come up on him, hits off his cap, but he gets a nice bare hand. He just throws this ball down the line in that collision. That is dangerous. Pops it up right side. Alexander on the turf. Second baseman will make the catch and the inning is over. Boston scores three times to take the lead. Kelly walks him first and second. Tying run down to scoring position. Waller will be the hitter. He has gone 0 for two. He’s denied a hit on an outstanding play by Durant very early in the game back in the third. A sprawling catch ripped into left field. Thomas around third. The throw to the plate not in time. Oh, the kid ties it at four. That has to feel great for Jordan Lawler after that error in the previous half inning. There go the runners and Peromo takes a strike wisely. So, fantastic jump by Lleair. Loer followed him behind. What a great jump. But Whitlock follows it up with a clutch strikeout. And now two down. So Whitlock strikes out the first he faces. Now here is Catel and he’ll pop this one up mile high down the line. Bregman giving chase and it comes back and he makes the play. So they have to settle for the one out number three on the popup and a 44 game at the end of seven. Here’s Romy Gonzalez. He’ll line that one into center field. A base hit. So his singles parade continues but so does the hitting streak at 10 straight and he’s all one down in the ninth. 3-2 run it goes again and it’s high from ball four and the Red Sox in business. They’ve got the go-ahead run at second. Another man in Eaton at first and the two down. Connor Wong was scheduled to hit and I don’t think they’ll let him. He’s going to be pulled back and the Red Sox will send Nick Sogard to the plate and a line drive into left field. Dropping dropping it is a dive and a miss and a run is in. It’s going to go all the way to the wall in to score. Gonzalez eaten right behind him. The Socks in front six to four. Nick Soggar coming off the bench. Pinch hitting late. The team’s looking for a spark. Arvay swing lobs it into right field. That is going to drop down for a base hit. Here comes Sogard. The throw to home plate. Not in time. Another run scores. Red Sox have some wiggle room in the ninth. It is seven to four. And bring on a Rollis Chapman who is having a historic season. This will be his 60th appearance. An erra of one. I mean, it’s just absolutely off the charts what he is doing. Franchise record, 16 consecutive hitless appearances. Swag Anavis. He puts him away with a slider and he gets the first out in the ninth on the cage. And when you have elite stuff like this and you got 99 pocket, you got the slider. It’ll show you the split at times too. Just nowhere to hide like when you get the two strikes with this guy. One, two again. Swing and a miss that gets through. Narvay going to fire on to first and that’s going to get right through and the runner is going to be safe at first. So despite the strike out Vargas will reach two- two again to locker swung on and miss struck him out. Slide is pretty filthy. Another K. Two down. I got to start a little bit sooner. You throw that slider and thanks for coming. Will be taken off. 3-2 swing and a miss. He gets it done to Cuban missile once again comes through. Red Sox win it 7 to4. Man, did they need that. And that is 600 career managerial victories for Alex for third man in Red Sox history to do that. Red Sox salvage a big one

It's sad to know that the "foods" we consume every day are full of chemicals that cause all kinds of cancer and many other diseases… Doctors and pharmaceutical companies know the cure, but they'll never tell us, or their billion-dollar empires that they generate every day will collapse.
I did this. I told my dad my beloved Crotalus atroces were finally back up to .500 and jinxed the game. On children's cancer night, too 😔
My countryman Chapman did it again,on fiiiiiire !!!💪
Dbacks chance of making the playoffs 0%
Side arm pitchers should never be brought in to save or hold the line. Trade away 😔
Chapman is the beast 💪
Red Sox avoid sweep in Arizona. May those kids recover from cancer
Well, that was an ugly series, at least Sox got one.
red stocking step on snek 👟🐍😞

So nice and human, the beginning with those hospital children. They have such a wonderful day.
Red Sox haven't been swept since late June a sign the team can still win even if were not at our best recently.
cmon Snakes, you can do better than this . start sticking your fangs into your opponents
Man you gotta feel for Nelson. Bro pitched a great game, but like many of late D-Backs games this season, their bullpen is straight buns and cost them the game.
Yessssirrrrrski over Boston yess yess
