I’m a Dodgers fan(Let Me Hear the Boo’s) but even I get mad when people say we don’t have a rivalry. Yes the Padres think their rivalry with us is bigger, but that’s only in the playoffs. Just asking you guys, from Giant’s fan’s perspective

  1. The tides ebb and flow. It’s been pretty lukewarm the last decade or so, save for the 2021 race, but feels like it’s simmering back up and could be really cooking next year.

  2. It’s a fan thing. Only intense when one or both teams is good.
Free Agency has tempered the team rivalry which usually starts in the minors.

  3. I think the only thing Giants and Dodgers fans can agree on is how much we despise each other. 😂

  4. Lifelong Giants fan, former Padres employee (not a player). I actually many years back had this brief discussion re:Dodgers/Giants rivalry with some players and staff. This was back in the Gwynn and Garvey Days. I certainly can’t quote anybody, but the end of all the discussions that I recall were that the Giants and dodger rivalry here in California came from New York City era and yes, while the Padres and the Dodgers have a similar geographic area here in California, and thus are the closest geographicteam in the National League the rivalry between Dodgers and Padres is a distant second place. Note this was back in oh geez, the late 80s. It’s anybody speculation as to the significance of a Dodgers Padres rivalry versus a Dodgers Giants rivalry.

  5. Separately ask a Giants fan and a Dodgers fan whose team they would want to beat the most. You’ll get your answer.

  6. Who the fuck is saying that? That’s a really dumb take but LA is the land of dumb takes and cosmetic fillers so the bar is low.

  7. Giants and Dodgers IS the rivalry. The Padres are currently the competition but not the rivals. It gets frustrating when Padres talk about “the rivalry” between the Padres and Dodgers.

STFU and sit down Padres fan. 5 years of “good baseball” is not going to replace the 130+ years of real rivalry between the Giants and Dodgers.

    Mic Drop…..

  8. I feel like the media hypes up Dodgers/Padres simply because of SD is close to the LA market and they both have a lot of super stars.

  9. I’ve seen the national baseball media try to push this narrative, but it’s just for ratings. Unfortunately a lot of talking heads don’t know shit about baseball and just prop these takes because either A) enagagement; B) they don’t know shit about baseball; or C) a little of both.

But we all know the truth: the Giants and the Dodgers will forever fight against each other, and I’m all for that.

  10. I was in dodger stadium wearing Giants gear during the 2021 season at the two straight Jansen blown games that included the Darren Ruf check swing. The rivalry is definitely real.

  11. It’s the history. We have been bitter rivals for over one hundred years. When the Dodgers were leaving Brooklyn; O’Malley begged Stoneham to come out west rather than move the Giants to Minnesota to preserve the rivalry between the two franchises. These guys struck gold, pitting San Francisco against Los Angeles as rivals in every professional league.

  12. It’s an immediate flag to let me know the person talking has no knowledge of baseball and is incapable of forming a coherent opinion.

  13. Rivalries can ebb and flow in intensity depending on the competition between teams. But unless a team relocates they live on

  14. Had a grown man who was my friends dad at the time (dodger fan) talk shit about Barry bonds who was my favorite player to my face when I was 5. Everytime I drive my car I hope I see him

  15. I’ll always hate on the Dodgers. Rivals for life. Never hated a sports team, except them!

    Love the rivalry hehe.
