Victor Wembanyama shared a bunch of pictures from his summer on his Instagram, which includes shots with Snoop Dogg, Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe and, perhaps most interestingly, revealing that he has spent time training with all-time great Hakeem Olajuwon.

Wemby's training with Olajuwon follows his recent sessions with Kevin Garnett earlier this summer and with Jamal Crawford last year. He also famously spent a considerable amount of time training and meditating with monks in China over the summer.

  1. Wemby out there working his ass out with the Dream and meditating with monks while Chet’s posting his all-time fave hotties on his snap lol

edit: for the curious, Chet’s all-time starting five is Jessica Alba, Transformers Megan Fox, Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara, and Margot Robbie. Solid list if I may say so myself

  2. I’m wondering if Kevin McHale could give Wembanyama some lessons, the amount of different post moves he had were absolutely incredible

  3. Doesn’t every center work with Hakeem at some point I swear I see him doing this every off season

  4. League fucked.

I remember Kobe went to Hakeem and his footwork was next level. He always had creative ways to get a shot off but most of the time he ended up in really awkward positions. After that summer his footwork was so technical and solid.

Excited for Wemby this season, he’s gonna make a huge leap.

  5. I’m calling it now, Wemby’s gonna start doing the following move: demand the ball in the post, catch the pass and then immediately spin baseline for a fadeaway. Kobe and Lebron (especially the latter) were doing that move frequently after their training sessions with Hakeem. Dwight not so much.

  6. Wemby’s footwork definitely could be improved, even if he doesn’t learn the dream shake if he just learns how to navigate the post at an elite level that’s huge.

I mean, I literally saw him do a spin move into a dunk from the free throw line. If he can master footwork he’ll be a dunk threat posting up in the midrange.

  7. We have to assume he’s working with Timmy also. If he gets a reliable turnaround bank out of the post it’s a wrap.

  8. So he’s gonna Dream Shake, then a Shamgod, fade-away, one-legged 3-pointer and he’s gonna take three steps in guarding the paint.

What sport is he even playing?

  9. Wemby sought Hakeem out on his own too if I recall.

I’m so stoked to see how this is going to expand his game. Hakeem is a master of footwork and body control, and those are invaluable skills for big men, regardless of era.

  10. Hakeem used to give lessons for free, but stopped doing it because he felt that players were taking advantage of him

  11. GOD DAMN IT WHY DOES THIS GUY GET TO DO EVERY SINGLE SIDEQUEST*

*this one is admittedly more like a sub-objective during a main story segment

  12. Footwork for Wemby could be the next step to extending longevity, good footwork makes that easier to do without risk of injury
