Seattle Kraken NEW Alternate Jersey! GLOW IN THE DARK!
Hey everybody, welcome to the video. It’s Neil here from Post to Post. There’s been a lot of news in the NHL recently when it comes to jerseys and uniforms and logos and all kinds of good stuff. It’s a pretty exciting time in the world of hockey leading into the next season. And we just got done talking about a specific team releasing a jersey, Carolina. Uh there are lots of strong opinions on that in the comments section and online outside of my video, but uh we’re here to talk about Seattle. Of course, Seattle came out with a new alternate jersey, and although they haven’t posted a lot of photos. Actually, they’ve barely posted anything. Uh, I still wanted to take a peek at it. I always like to like wait a couple of days now because I want all the photos I can possibly get from a new release so we can really dissect it and give my full opinion, but I’ve been waiting a couple of days and Seattle hasn’t really uh released the amount of photos that I’ve been expecting. But, let’s take a look at what they did release and in the same order that I basically saw them when it was released. So, let’s bring up the first one. and they released a video and I don’t like that. Okay. Uh any NHL team out there, please stop doing that. Please stop releasing teaser videos and then holding off on any photos for like hours or days. Okay? I love video. Okay? It’s cool. It’s great. It’s dynamic. It’s interesting, but it’s always quick and it’s dark. And I I just want I just want to see the I just want to see the jersey. Okay? I just want to see the jersey. All right. So, cool. Release the video later. Give me some photos. That’s really my honest, brutal, straightforward take on that. But the first image is kind of a, you know, a photo probably from when they were filming the video, the back look. So, I said, “Okay, I know my first initial thoughts was, ooh, not really a lot going on there. There’s not much striping. There’s, you know, I see most of it in the socks, but the jersey itself seems a little bit dull.” That was kind of my first initial quick couple seconds impressions. And then, you know, the video continued, and then, of course, we got some photos. But here’s kind of the first look I got of the front of it. So, I I knew that, okay, we got the S, the regular logo, but where’s the eye? Where’s the where’s the red eye? That’s like that that’s the best part of the logo, and it’s not there. I was quite disappointed. And then I noticed the sleeves and that section of sublimation printed striping. It’s like, ah, that kind of kind of a bummer. And then we get into the actual shot here of the front. And I will say that I was so happy to see that the red eye was actually in there. And the the previous photo we saw wasn’t just like a green overcast light. It was, you know, that glow-in-the-dark effect, which is a little gimmicky, but pretty cool. So, I’m very happy that the logo is uh still has the kind of red eye in there. It’s been changed a little bit. I think it looks very good on there, but at this point, I wasn’t sure if it was, you know, dark navy like this or if it was black or what. So, I was really eager at this point to actually get a proper photo of the jersey in the uniform. That’s what I really want. And then we got hit with or I got hit with this uh next one which is full-on glow-in-the-dark logo. I don’t think it’s amazing, but I think it’s cool. It’s not necessarily unique cuz Vegas has done this, but I think it uh is very complimentary, I guess, to the brand. The Seattle Kraken, specifically Kraken, you know, that’s a very kind of mysterious brand and and creature and name. So having something come up from the depths of the sea that’s a little bit mysterious and you can barely see it and maybe maybe it does glow in the dark. There are things in the ocean that do are luminescent and glow in the dark. So it it plays in with the branding. So I think it fits their actual team quite nicely and it looks very cool in that logo because you’re really just seeing the outline of the logo and it’s a very intricate logo when you look at all the details. you know, like when I when I really set this down on a table and I start to look, it’s, you know, there’s lots to look at it. But at the end of the day, it’s just an S. And I think this outline here, this uh golden dark outline really um complements that kind of simplicity of just the S. So, I do like it, although it’s a little bit I don’t want to say copycat of Vegas, but it’s just not completely unique, which is fine. Now, the next uh photo I have here is I think from this a screenshot from the video, and it’s just, you know, a side profile of the actual logo. So again, happy to see that red in there. And then we got this one, which provides a little bit closer look. So we can see the bottom of the jersey. Lots of red in there. I shouldn’t say that. Lots more red in the jersey than their home jersey. So I I do like that quite a bit. I love it in the arms. I love it in the bottom of the jersey. And this is the point where I’m like, “Oh, that’s that’s actually black. That’s not navy blue or a dark blue. That’s black.” Uh I like I like this more. And I like the C the the teal C. That’s a nice touch. I would have expected maybe the numbers to be the same. Like we’ve got the Z, it’s all filled in with the teal, but the numbers are basically just the a stroke of the number and then the inside is the black. So, a little bit of conflicting design language there, but uh in general, both are very nice individually. And then this boom is the actual photo that I saw finally uh in proper lighting and whatnot. And I do like the fact that black is the primary color. Now, you are competing a little bit with the LA Kings in the same division with black, but that’s fine. It’s an alternate jersey, no, not a big deal. You also have the San Jose Sharks alternate jersey, too, which is black. Uh, again, same division, but not really that big of a deal. But I like that Seattle is leaning into black. This is so far away from what I would have predicted or want from the Seattle Kraken in terms of alternate jersey. But to be fair, to be not hate on it, I do like the fact that they’re leaning into the black. I think it does play well with the branding and marketing, the lore of the team and uh you know the deep dark depths of the ocean. So that um you know it is applicable to the brand. I can’t uh can’t say anything negative about that. So the black is 100% a good decision in my opinion. The logo I do like the logo. The striping bit of a miss for me. um mostly due to actual physical production of the jersey, not necessarily the decision behind it, although I’m a little bit critical of the decision because that kind of I guess gradiated staged striping is a kind of a ripoff of the San Jose Sharks alternate and kind of a ripoff of the New York uh Rangers alternate as well. I’ll put photos up there so you can see it. And both of those jerseys are pretty recent, so I just feel like there are more opportunities to do something a little bit different. The jersey itself is kind of an amalgamation between two jerseys. The or two I guess kind of like little design intricacies. The glow-in-the-dark from the Vegas jersey and then the striping from the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers jersey. Obviously, it’s not exactly the same, but you know what I mean. It’s very similar. It’s just not a super unique jersey. It is a little bit practice jersey looking because it is such slate uh color. There’s nothing going on really in the middle. There’s no aggressive striping. It’s pretty simple. It’s again not a bad thing, but still it’s not a perfect jersey. That’s for sure. But yeah, my biggest issue is the physical aspect of this because this section here, which is manufactured in a different way. It’s a sublimation print. You can tell that the black isn’t the same black. Like it’s there’s a bit of a sheen on this specific material that’s here. It reflects light differently. Therefore, you don’t get the same exact like shade of black. It looks a little bit lighter, almost charcoal black. I hate that. I really hate that. I think that’s it makes it look cheap. Uh, it just it doesn’t look right. It looks like it’s a Walmart jersey or something. I hate this seam look that they’re going for. Not a fan of that. You can’t blame Fanatics because Adidas did it as well. It’s not really a Fanatics thing. It’s just I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s a cost cutting. I have no idea. Okay. I no idea. I’m not involved and nor have I ever been involved in the manufacturing of jerseys, but as a fan, yeah, I don’t really like it. So, if I were to rate this jersey overall, I would probably give it maybe like a seven. Like, that’s not a great score. I don’t really dislike it. I just don’t love it. Like, it’s just I think it’s a relatively forgettable jersey and uniform. It’s okay. I really don’t have anything super negative to say about it. I just think it’s okay. It’s an okay decision. I think there are way better decisions you could do for a permanent alternate. So maybe they missed the mark a little bit, but expectations are high regardless of team. I guess from my perspective, like I’m really I have pretty high expectations for all the teams because we look at concepts every single Friday on the channel. I’ve seen so many amazing concepts and then the teams come up with something like this, which is good, but it’s not as good as some of the concepts that I’ve seen out there seen out there. I was just like, wow, you know, if if people in the community can come up with designs that are really, really strong, why can’t the teams, why can’t the NHL, why can’t Fanatics come up with these amazing designs that I think a lot of people would love? So, uh, yeah. Anyways, that’s kind of my thoughts. Don’t hate it, don’t love it. It is what it is. I think they made some good decisions uh throughout the jersey for sure. Uh, one very positive thing I will say is their social media. I really like the Seattle Kraken social media. I think they do a wonderful job and I wanted to show kind of an example of that on their Twitter. Uh, basically they tweeted a little bit of a funny uh, I guess meme, whatever you want to call it here, and I thought that was really good. So, I just wanted to highlight that Seattle Kraken do do a good job on their social media. However, like I said at the beginning, give me more photos of the of the New Jersey and the uniform. This is an exciting time. This could lead to sales. Like, post some more photos of it. If I was in charge of marketing there, I’d be spamming the feed with photos to get people excited. Right now, there’s a lot of people want more photos, including myself. So, I guess I’ll leave it at that. Soon on the channel, we’ll be talking uh the Chicago Blackhawks and their jersey change. I think it’s amazing. Spoiler. We’ll be talking the Montreal Canadians. Actually, very soon on the channel, I think tomorrow, Montreal Canadians center ice and also Vegas Golden Knights center ice. I want to kind of do a little bit of a deep dive into the Vegas Golden Knights and talk about some of the decisions that they’ve made on their center ice designs and then the new Montreal Canadians ones, which is catching some heat online. Also, the Ottawa Senators released their jersey officially. I have lots to say about that specific release, not necessarily the jersey. And what else is there? Also, the CHL is using some Under Armour jerseys, so I want to talk about that a little bit. And of course, regular Friday jersey concept. So, if you want to talk hockey, specifically design, logos, all that good stuff. Would love to have you on board here for all the hockey news and I guess specifically NHL. But, uh, yeah, come on aboard if you’re new. Hope you’re having a wonderful day and we’ll talk to you very soon. Adios. [Music]

I love it
Seems like the default for all sports teams is black. It is getting to be a lazy way out.
The black light photos are rather meaningless. I suppose they will lower the lights in the pregame, but otherwise, nothing worth noting, as the light will hide it all.
Day One Purchase here. Absolutely love this jersey.
looks like someone drew the waves on the jersey
The color almost copies the Houston Texans rebranded dark navy blue that almost looks black which the Texans new navy blue color is called "Deep Steel Blue" when looking close up
The striping lokey reminds me of the Sharks current black alt
Its….okay. Their primary jersey is already so dark that's its practically black. You need a third colour option.
i still need to see the Jersey on the ice before i judge it but like you said i didn't i saw the team store leaked it then site crashed and then never got a good look at the jersey tell later that night . i do think the Red needs to glow in the dark to what you think and i was hoping the Anchor would have been the logo .
Hard to believe Eberle broke into the league 15 years ago.
