Is The Miami Dolphins Season Over Already? Put Up Or Shut Up!

Ah, it is still Sunday night and yes, you read the title correctly. I’m going to talk about should we be freaking out, should the season be over, should this, this, and that happen. I’m going talk about it all because you can tell I’m still wearing my Dolphin shirt. Uh, but I just got done watching the Ravens and the Bills and man, that’s all I’m going to say, man. [Music] What is up, Finn fans? Like I said, I just got done watching that Bills Ravens game. Ravens were up 15 with four minutes left in the game. Now, I know some are going to say, “Hey, is this as bad as the Dolphins loss?” No, it’s not, cuz they lost to Josh Allen. We lost to Will Leis, so it’s not. But that like so many things went wrong for Lamar Jackson. You had the fumble from Derk Henry. You had the defense just allowing Josh Allen to do whatever he wanted. And the missed extra point. That missed extra point was huge. And also the punt that he slid into the end zone, gave him the ball in the 20 instead of one. Like so many different things went the Bill’s way. So many different things. And unfortunately Lamar Jackson just didn’t go his way like usual. But this is a Dolphin channel. Who gives a crap about that? We’re going to talk about the game yesterday. I’m not going to go into full details. I’m not going to go into stats, statistics, yada yada blah blah blah. I’m not going through any of that crap. Uh we’re going to hear what the coach and Tua had to say. Uh Barry Jackson came out with a fantastic art article essentially talking about Steven Ross and how he needs to get his head out of his butt and kind of do something. So, we’re going to go over that article. Um we’re and I’m going to talk about should we be freaking out? Is the season over? Is this something that oh my god, you know, whatever, you know, are is this a one week of a consistent following up of weeks? I’m going to talk about that, but obviously, real quick, shout out today’s sponsor. And it’s the official sponsor of the channel. Love them. I use their app all the time. It’s Sleeper. Get 100% on your first $100 using the promo code DDW. Uh I use them in the for the Pick them League. Uh if you want to look up the Pickham League, I think I’ll link it below. little link below beneath the sleeper link. But you the overunders are fantastic and super fun. Like it’s so easy and you can make the you can like make changes as the game’s going on. Go check them out. Love that app. Fantasy app. It’s fantastic. Go check them out. So let’s talk about this. We’re going to go into player pressers first. Right to Valoa. Right. He said, “On the loss today to Indie, we don’t want to overreact, but we don’t want to underreact to this. We want to make sure we get uh this right so this doesn’t happen again.” When uh these first came out, these pressures first came out, I was in a bad mood, right? We’re all in a bad mood. You learn, you lose 33 to 8, you’re in a bad mood. So, I really want to hear these things, but I see where he’s coming from, but at the same time, like [Music] I get it’s week one, and again, we’ll go more into detail because of the title of the video, and I get it’s week one, but you how are you that ill-prepared? You look at the other teams that were this bad, and I’m getting ahead of myself because I do want to talk about this, but let’s let’s let’s talk more about what had to say. He said, “I wouldn’t say I’m pressing. Uh I would say it’s part of the game. You obviously don’t want to turn it over. It just so happened that uh that’s what happened today.” Talking about his turnovers dur during uh Indie, meaning he’s not trying to push the ball and trying to force too much, but it kind of what happened. Um he said, “None of the fans pay to watch the Miami Dolphins put up eight points and watch the other team drop 30. We need to look in the mirror. We need to continue to hold each other accountable.” He says, “I’m definitely curious to see uh I came in on Tuesday. I seen the guys on Tuesday last week. I want to see if the same guys are watching film on Tuesday. I want to see how everyone’s going about their process.” Talking about bouncing back and, you know, getting into the grind and doing all that things. And let me get to I I have a whole spiel. Let me let me just continue because there’s so much I want to say to react to this, but what I want to say also coincides with what I want to say after we go over the pressers. He said, uh, Mike McDaniel and the loss. He says the formula I can’t I think of all the people that I’m going to talk about and read about and all that stuff today. Mike McDaniel’s like my my patience with him is like is thinner than paper. Like it’s so thin because it’s this. It’s just a lot of this. It’s blah blah blah blah blah, you know, adversity this and blah blah blah and we got to do better here and blah blah blah and we’re going to run more blah blah blah blah blah and it it no it never equates to anything. So it’s a lot of this and I need to see it. So he says again I’m I’m just over his euphemisms and his metaphors and stuff. The formula is uh for failure and nothing else. Like what the hell does that mean? Medino today’s loss. That formula is for failure and nothing else. Guys last uh guys let week one and the bells and whistles of the start of the season get to them. What what guys let week one and the bells and whistles of the season get to them. That’s on you. You are the head coach. Don’t let the bells and whistles and the all the fancy dooahs of week one get to them. That’s on you. The discipline, the penalties, the the making sure they’re prepared, all that stuff is on you. People are like, “Why do you want him fired? It’s week one.” Because nothing has changed. The things I saw in week one are the things I saw in week one of 2022. Nothing has changed. He has been the same consistent incon incompetent head coach for the past four seasons. The timeouts called the fact that we had 12 men on offense. Are you kidding me? And now he comes out and says the formulas for failure and nothing else. Guys let week one and the bells and whistles of the season start to get to them. What are you going to do about it, man? You got to do something about it. He also says, “I’m very motivated to get together with the team, watch the tape, and keep it real and get ready for our next opponent, the Patriots, are not going to feel sorry for us.” Yes, they’re not. And we don’t feel sorry for you either. Uh I don’t see this job void of pressure. I don’t see entitlement. The most important thing uh that I worry about is doing my job. Well, you’re not doing a very good job of it. Sorry to tell you, but you’re not doing a very good job of it. The Dolphins t uh Darren Orlowski said that the Dolphins tape is a mess. Both sides of the ball. Total mess. Yes, 100%. Talks about too struggle from Mike McDaniel. He said definitely not all on him at all. There’s too many players that failed at the execution of their jobs for him to even have an uh extra any extra on his shoulder. I will say this. I will say this. There isn’t one person, one player, one position on this team that deserves more blame for this loss. I will say that. Right. It’s all around. It’s the entire team. Now, I know people hate Tua and I’m done. Like I after that day, I like after today for me, yesterday for you, I was like Jesus. Two interceptions and a fumble. God. But Tulle played like trash. The defense gave up scores on every single possession. And you could say, “Well, that’s cuz they couldn’t get off the field because two of Get off the field. Get off the field.” Prime example is the Seattle game last year, right? We gave up 17 points in the first quarter. Then for two and a half quarters, they didn’t score any points on offense. Today they scored on every single one of their possession. Like you can go back and look where the quarterback or Tua or anyone was playing like garbage. The defense was able to get off the field on third downs. They didn’t. There was zero pressure. The the secondary looked like Swiss cheese. It was bad. Every aspect was bad. So yeah, I’m not going to sit here and say, “Oh, Tua doesn’t deserve all the blame because he did well.” No, he was bad for what is it, an hour, but so is everyone else. The entirety of the Dolphins were bad except the special teams. I like the way the special teams played. I really did like the way the special teams played. One more time. I like that. Larry’s anka came out and said, “Uprepared, uninspired, unacceptable. What are you going to do about it? What are you going to do about it? This is what I find interesting. Right, this is from I’m sorry I keep going. I apologize. Uh, a Q&A with Bradley Chub. So, the question is, in the simplest terms, this is from Joe Shad. So, uh, I’m assuming Joe Shad asked these questions to Bradley Chub. In the simplest terms, what do you think happened today given that almost nothing worked? Cuz it didn’t. Bradley Chub said, “Trying to make our own thing up and not playing team football.” At the end of the day, uh that’s why we watch film for that we sit uh sit back and learn, see what we’re doing wrong, and correct it next week. What? What did this man just say? Trying to make our own thing up and not playing team football. Are you telling me that the reason the defense was so bad and was allowing scores on every single offensive possession is because the entire defense was freelancing? Then the question was, “There’s not a lot of film on Daniel Jones and this team. Did it feel like everything was brand new out there?” No, not necessarily. They did a lot of the same things we thought that would happen. Like I said, us making up our own stuff and us players on the field making things up and not communicating as well as we could have. At the end of the day, it’s about learning from it, building from it. On to the next week. Mike McDaniel, what are you going to do about that? Like, how as a head coach, as a defensive coordinator, are you going to sit back and hear your captain essentially say that they were just making things up on the field? What are you going to do about that? Because that’s a problem. And again, a lot of people get on me. You want to fire Mike McDaniel after one game. When stuff like that comes out, yeah, I want to fire Mike McDaniel because what the crap was that? Are you kidding me right now? And then Barry Jackson comes out with this article. It’s a fantastic article. We’re going to go over it real quick. Essentially, it says, “Time for Dolphins Ross to pay attention, become better steward of the franchise.” cuz he doesn’t even stay in Miami. He’s in New York. There’s enough blame to fill what’s left of the world’s melting glaciers after this debacle of an opener in which the Dolphins were dominated 33 to8 by a mediocre Colts team and look further from contention than they did this decade. Um, blame 10-year general manager Chris Greer for fritting away a treasure trove of resources, failing to build a team that can win a single playoff game and constructing a 2025 roster with more holes than clothes in a mothinfested closet. Yes, 1,000%. Blame Mike McDaniel and his staff for not having the team remotely prepare for its opener and offering no suitable answers in more than a year for a too high safety look that has been around forever. blamed the quarterback for delivering a stinker in the opener, raising more doubts about whether Tua can take the team deep into the playoffs. But you know what? You know where the proverb pre proverbial buck stops with the franchise that hasn’t won in anything in a quarter century. The guy who signed the checks in 2009. Steven Ross’s well in uh intentioned philanthropic. Wow, I got that out. uh and willing to give his front office whatever it needs to win. He has spent end endlessly to foster an environment that has led to the Dolphins receiving two consecutive first place honors and the NFL players union report rewarding them for the poshness of their facilities, the comfort of their airplanes, and the elegance of their training room. But Ross’s patience with the underperforming front office has gone from restrained and disciplined to reckless and unjustified, making him look increasingly clueless about what it takes to win in the NFL. We wrote uh after last year’s season finale finale that Ross might be one of the most patient men on earth for continuing to overlook bad decisions after bad decisions and offering his GM more second chances than a woman who keeps giving her boyfriend a mulligan for cheating on her. He’s not wrong. He’s not wrong. He should have grown more skeptical after Greer squandered early round picks on No Benoggony, Cam Smith, Liam Iikenberg, Channing Tindle, and traded a second rounder for Josh Rosen. There seemingly never a tipping point for the owner to lose patience and overhaul his front office. Uh enough never seems to be enough for Ross. Greer ignored him passing on Ross’ suggestion of drafting Lamar Jackson wasn’t enough. Greer ignoring everyone and reportedly fielding inaccurate offensive lineman wasn’t enough. Not winning a playoff game despite tanking a season wasn’t enough. So, what exactly is enough? Benefit of the doubt is always offered for the GM, even when none is deserved. Ross, who’s busy trying to build West Palm Beach uh into a mecca, could have spoken up during the offseason when his friends assertedly told him Miami’s quarterback group was delinquently inadequate. He could have asked Brian Flores during the interview process if he was fine with making the development to clear the priority uh clear priority over winning in 2019. He could have asked McDaniel specifically how he could justify fielding an offense that produced the third fewest 20-yard passes uh pass plays last season despite employing two of the league’s second highest paid receivers. He could have pushed back on Greer giving his quarterback a $212 million deal when he’s coming off of the only healthy season of his football life. He could have asked how Miami ended up with the fragile to Tua and Jaylen Wild instead of Justin Herbert and Jamar Chase when both were available to Miami in 2020 and 2021’s draft. He should have asked Greer why Miami didn’t sign a quality defensive tackle in free agency so that it could pick the best available player in the draft in April instead of needing to select Kenneth Grant. He should have pressed Greer on why there was a need to trade a second, third, and a fourth round pick for Jonah, who allowed a sack and pushed around all Sunday. He should have asked why he has never seemed to build trenches that can match the physicality of the league’s best. He should have asked we why after Odell Beckham Jr. mistake would you trust the tight end to an older player coming off his retirement instead of paying Johnny Smith. Today he should ask Mike McDaniel how his team could look so illprepared for an opener and how the offense could be so inept against the defense that ranked 29th last year. You should ask Chris Greer how he could see the shortcomings in the defense backfield that the secondary coach Brian Duke told me on August 4th that the media was more concerned about the team was mostly Ross should be paying attention more attention demanding accountability and imposing consequences for underperformance. Unless the Dolphins perform drastically better, a massive change front office and coaching staff will be necessary. Making those changes after one game likely accomplishes nothing, but an overhaul in several weeks will be justified if this isn’t fixed. There’s a fine line between uh meddling and offering the type of oversight and stewardous necessary over a front office, and staff deserves no benefit of the doubt. If Ross can’t do that, if he can’t recognize that this front office did not deserve a chance for another reset after bundling bundling the first one, then there’s no hope that the next six years as an owner will be uh better than the first 16. If Ross keeps this team, let’s hope his daughter Jennifer and Kimberly, who have been designated to inherit the franchise, have less tolerance for perpetual mediocrity and missteps. If not a lost quarter century could be become almost half a century. Barry, I couldn’t say it better myself. And this is where we get into my thoughts and essentially the title of the video. Should we freak out over week one? I’m going to say you should freak out 40% and let’s wait and see for 60%. If that makes any sense to you. Uh horrible game against the Colts. Colts had something to play for. It seems like the Dolphins didn’t. Colts didn’t win a game opener for 11 years. Jim Ers was getting um honored their, you know, longtime owner who passed away. They had a lot to play for and it seems like the Dolphins didn’t. Now you’re going home against the the Patriots who also got their butts whooped by the Raiders in a game home one:00 in the roasting sun. Now, Mike Vrabel has Tua’s number and has this Dolphins team’s number. So, this is the biggest test. If the Dolphins go 0 and2, uh, from what I’m hearing, and I might talk to you guys about it on the Patreon. If you want to join the Patreon, it’s linked in the description. I might make a Patreon video after this, so there might be one up already. Uh, changes could be made, and I will talk more about that on the Patreon. But I will say this, it is incredibly incredibly discouraging what we saw on the field today for me, yesterday for you. Uh, changes need to be made. I know it’s week one, but changes still need to be made. And what makes it worse is what Bradley Chub said is that they were just doing their own thing out there. Like, are you kidding me with that comment with that with that quote? Like, that bothers the crap out of me. You will just we just watched the Buffalo Bills down f 15 15 points with four minutes left come back against the Baltimore Ravens and won their game 41 to 40. We saw Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson just play after play after play after play. It took for the Ravens to be unlucky for Josh Allen to win that game. They gave Josh Allen enough time even before the half 25 seconds. Like I’m I’m over here like praising Josh Allen, but that’s like you see what I’m saying? We’re over here getting shellacked 33 to8 and Josh Allen is is putting his team on it. Like do you honestly and again I picked us to lose week three and I picked us to lose week 10 after that? Like do you really like So I see the people who are like season’s over because it was bad and there’s like no sign of light in any of that bad, right? Like we didn’t get like a little three and out and a punt here on defense and ooh ah like actually like Rosul Douglas almost almost had an interception which would have been fantastic you know but like we saw no glimpses of like oh we could build off of that we could build off of this so I get it but also a lot could change but and this is where I’m like giving it the 6040 right 40% fine say the season’s over after one game let’s overreact 60 let’s see it play out because a lot could change. But here’s the thing, you have to have the head coach to facilitate those changes. And as of right now, Mike McDaniel has shown that he is in is incapable of facilitating those changes. I’m sorry. Like that’s just how I feel until proven otherwise. Like I’m not I I can’t do it anymore. I can’t sit here and put blind faith into something anymore, right? I’d rather be surprised and let down. You guys know that quote that I say constantly. So, until I is proven otherwise, I am not going to put my faith into a tongue of Aloa in Chris Greer and in Mike McDaniel. I told you guys what my expectations were for this season. I told you guys what this season could look like if if it went belly up. And I told you how like that we can go from negative 27 million in cap space to 30 something million under cap space in the plus. So changes can be moved like that very quickly. Two moves can be mace. I need to see change and I need to see it now. There is no way like you saw yes the Patriots lost the out of the division the Dolphins lost the worst then it was the Patriots then it was the Jets and then obviously the Bills won. So if I had to put what the place looks like in the AFC East I know we have a three-way tie for secondm it’s Bills Jets Patriots Dolphins Bills won their game Jets lost their game by what a point two points like they actually put up points and played really well against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Patriots got beat, but they scored 10 points and the Dolphins looked inept. So, season’s not over. Statistically and logically, it’s week one. But this sucker can go downhill real fast. You’re about to face the AFC East. You’re about to face the Patriots. You are not. I I don’t I’ll put all my money on it. give I if the the Bills are given 15, I’m picking the Bills. If the Bills are given 30, I’m picking the Bills. From what I saw, I again, I’m down bad when it comes to my optimism for this team because they need to show me now. I’m at that point. I made the merch. Show me, which I’m trying to get it up on another site because Amazon took it down. So, I’m trying to find another site to put my merch up on so you guys can go out and grab some because now it’s at the point of show me. I’ve been saying it all off seasonason. I’ve been saying it all training camp. You know, there’s the talk of this. You know, the environment’s different. This is different. That is different. I’m tired of this, man. I’m tired of this. You need to show me. You need to show me. And we’re going to talk about it tomorrow on the Dolphin Collective. and we’re going to talk about it Friday when we preview the Patriot game on the Dolphin Collective. But the talk is cheap, mother licker. You got to show us you got some teams like my record prediction. I said a healthy two or we win 10 games after that game that I saw yesterday. Uh I think we lose to the Bills. I think we lose to the Jets. I think we lose to the Chargers. I think we lose to the Ravens. I think we lose to the Bills again. I think we lose to Washington. I think we lose to the Steelers. I think we lose to the Bengals. I think we lose to the um Buccaneers. So, best case scenario, the way I feel right now, beat the Patriots, we beat the Panthers. Um I can see beating the Browns. Uh, so that’s what one, two, three, five win team. You know, we’ll we Saints and then we’ll sneak another win in somewhere. I have five win team. You’re picking top five. You get that quarterback. Time to move on from two of you picking top five. Time to move on from everyone. And if it goes that way where by the by-week we only win one, two, three games. Bye, McDaniel. Bye, Greer. They ain’t making the by-week. If by the time we get to the Ravens game, we’ve won three games, they they’re gone. Again, I got something I want to talk about. I’m going put it over on the Patreon. So, if you haven’t yet, go click the link in the description. Go subscribe to the Patreon if you if you want to hear what I’m about to talk about. But, no, season’s not over. Obviously, there’s we’re all reacting negatively because of how bad it was. Season’s not over. But put up or shut up. I think I might even title that the video is the season over or is it too whatever? And then I’m going to put like put up or shut up. But comment below. How you feeling? I love you guys. You guys are still supporting the channel. You guys are still watching. I will be here Sunday at 1. I’ll be here tomorrow breaking down the film. I’ll be here Wednesday doing the picks. Uh I got a special collab coming Thursday. Friday I got the preview and then Sunday I’ll be live. So status quo for me. But my status quo is good. My status quo is productive. The dolphin status quo garbage. I’ll see you tomorrow like usual. Stay classy and fend

  1. You 3 years ago Tua and McDaniel beat the Ravens and Allen the thing we needed them was OL help and a running game we had everything else.
Today we need OL, CB, TE and RB
I mean there is one guy over everyone that has failed the most and that is Grier

  2. News flash! It was over before it started. Keeping the GM and coach after the end of last year was the final nail for me. I saw the writing on the wall. I’m not surprised they are this bad.

  3. This season has been over since Ross made the statement McD and Grier are coming back.
He's an absentee owner. Only shows up on Gameday. He only cares there is no drama inside the front office. He wants a peaceful Sunday where he can make more land deals.

  4. Still think Tua's better than Baker? I have been trying to warn you about putting your eggs in Tua's basket but you fought me year in year out. We couldve had Baker for 4 mill at one point. We couldve had Darnold for peanuts. We could've gotten Danny Dimes for a cup of coffee. All are better than Tua. Deep down you disagree with that but I have faith you're coming around. You got mad at me for calling our coach McStupid. I think you now have a few choice names for him as well after watching him not learning from his idiotic mistakes. Soon, you and I will be on the same page and you'll still be the jovial joy everyone loves and I will be my bitter hateful self…towards the Fins that is. You're still young, I was like you at your age towards this idiotic clown show of a team. They've made me this way Doug! In another 25 years of sucking you will be just as pissed as me at my age. I'm guessing you're 35. I know, I can't believe I'm 60 either with my cynical attitude towards this pathetically inept circus of a team and my aggressive style. I gotta say this video made me laugh at loud. Love it. You're sounding like a less angry TD! I f'ing love it.

  5. Comment of the day- one thing I love about you Doug, is that your honest. If Tua and McDaniels turn it around you'll do a video saying you were wrong. I think you might be right, but I hope we get that "i was wrong" video after our bye week where we have turned it around.

  6. You can blame McDaniel but he produced miracles in his two playoff years creating an offence that made Tua looked competent, however the NFL learns quickly and you cannot hide all of Tua's failings no matter the coach. The real issue with this team is Grier and his appalling squad building, there is no depth anywhere on this team and no star power outside of an aging Hill, a problem that has lasted since the Dan Marino era. Grier not being fired last season has made this season a complete waste of time, at least you could have seen if McDaniel could produce with a decent GM, instead both are going to get fired.

  7. They looked like an awful football team, HC looked like a dear in headlights the entire time, predictable play calling I can go on and on. Not much to be hopeful about.

  8. Yes, the offense was for crap. But what happened to our defense? Wasn’t our defense supposed to be able to stop people this year and give our offense multiple chances to get some type of ruthenium going? What were those defensive coverage calls? 14 and more play drives that end in scores every time. And our DC is the brilliant bright star? Were they even trying?

  9. It's been 25 years, a quarter of a century, since Dan Marino retired and we are still looking for his replacement. I'm not basing this opinion on one bad performance from Tua. Anyone can have a bad day. I'm still unconvinced he will stay healthy. Concussion prone players never seem to have long and prosperous careers. It's also been a quarter century since we won a playoff game. It's been 40 years since our last superbowl appearance. And it's been over 50 years, more than half a century, since our last superbowl win. I'm a die hard Dolphins fan and I'll stick with them for the rest of my life but this is getting ridiculous.

  10. Dougie, been telling you since Tannehill, and now with Tua. Those type players (QB's) are reaches when they were drafted. They both had to be taught how to be a quarterback once they got to the league. I told you that Tua is a spot thrower.

  11. I can totally relate to how everybody is feeli've been a dolphin's fan for over forty years and i've watched good times and bad times and that game yesterday was absolute f**** trash. Excuse my language that was embarrassing if I was Mike McDaniel I would have put my foot so far up. So many people's a** that they would be tasting my Tennis shoes for the rest of their career. So with all that said, go Miami Dolphins.Hope we can pull our heads out of our a** next week. And maybe just maybe win a game

  12. F yeah, bro. Offshore gambling is great fun! How much of your viewers losses do you get as a bonus, you shill? here’s an idea: YouTube doesn’t pay enough? Get a job. Don’t advertise for vices. Who raised you, anyway?

  13. So are we all ready to stop denying that 2023 was a statistical anomaly primarily due to a weak schedule. The real Ross,Grier, McDaniel and Tua are showing through. Clean sweep, sell this team Ross or manage it. If you don't care sell it to someone who does. Get a real GM who understands this game. Get an experienced coach and let him get his own QB and send Tua off to his (less than) Sam Darnold journeyman career until he gets his next head bang when he will retire or be relegated a back up to perennial basement teams.

  14. Before watching, I’m just gonna say that I think it’s too early to call for a firesale. Call me optimistic, but one game is not enough. Don’t get me wrong I’m still extremely upset about everything. But, if there was ever a time to get blown out by a mid team, it’s week 1.

  15. 6:01 When Stephen Ross decided to retain McDaniel and Grier, he said in his statement that things would change even though McDaniel and Grier were staying. I knew back then he was either being naïve or not honest and that this season was already a lost cause. The Dolphins still managed to shock me with how bad they looked yesterday
