We’ve Got to Capitalize on Those Opportunities | Press Conference

Yeah, that’s the frustrating part. um turn I mean not even turnovers we what had four on defense but it’s the penalties man like you know myself dumb that hurt the team and the pen I had could have been avoided um Cody had them wrapped up you know it’s just dumb no excuses for that you know I take full accountability to that and even with all the freaking pennies we had we still was in this game um and we had a chance but I mean when you have what over 150 what I think it was like 150 in penalties 130 130 that’s that’s terrible and um you know you you’ll never win a game like that especially on the road that’s a good football team u but at the end of the day man we have to clean that up like I said that’s the most disappointing thing um especially coming out of this game was the penalties is that the biggest thing that you emphasized given that it was close enough despite all yeah man we I mean you I’m sure is when we go turn on the tape we’re going to see that we you know we played our ass off and at the end of the day as a defense when you um could go out there and you know keep getting off the field. You know, you of course take away a couple of them big runs. Um you know they end up you know Bo got a good scramble in one time and the big run they broke. You know it’s a lot of things we have to clean up but I’m sure there going to be so many plus things that we could you know so many good things that coming out of this game. Um I think at the end of the day as a team we have to keep focus on that the things that we did well but also the things that get us beat and we saw that you know hands on when we in a good situation get off the field and get a penalty no matter if it’s on the back end or up front. Like I said we I mean I like I had two of them you know coming from myself you know I’m still disappointed in myself. I’m pissed off at myself for you know the off side and then um after the play pences. So at the end of the day, man, we have to clean up the pens. Like I said, that’s that was one of our big emphasis, you know, as a team. We we’ve been talking about discipline. We’ve been talking about, you know, playing as a team and, you know, that wasn’t that today, especially on the penalty side. So Jeff, does you think this team in the eyes of officials has a reputation of being undisiplined and that’s why you getting so many flags? Is that part of it? I mean, no. everything. I’m sure when we go watch the tape, um, we’ll see. But like my pen is they going to call it every time. I’m sure. Um, you know, when Cody got stopped the guy’s progress and I go and shove them, you know matter if I thought it was, you know, playing trying to play through the woods or not, like I’m sure they going to call it every time. When, you know, Cody stop progression, we they going to call it every time. So, at the end of the day, um, we just have to clean it up. And it’s not that, oh, we just so undisiplined. I think at the end of the day, we have to clean up the penalties because like I said, we it’s a lot of good things. I’m sure we’re gonna see on tape. Jeeoff, you played on Titans teams here that win games like this a lot, ugly games like this. Why do you feel like y’all lost that ability? I mean, today penalties mean I mean it’s nothing more, nothing less to it. You know, they made a they made one extra play more than us. As simple as that. We we got to clean up the penalty. They had way less penalties than us. So at the end of the day, clean up the penalties and move on. How good was it to see the turnover you frustrating as a team to not be able to capitalize on them more? I mean, that’s one of the things we’ve been talking about as a defense is trying to create the turnovers and you know, we did a hell of a job at that, but you know, we could talk about all the good things as well, but you know what really got us beat? And I think at the end of the day, I’m going to keep saying it’s the penalty that we had today. So, we have to clean that up. um you know that’s a positive that we did get the ball off the um their offense. So you know we take that we took that step but now we got to take the step and getting less penalties and cleaning the penalties up. So at the end of the game you know with four whatever it was right but um definitely the penalties is something we got to clean up though. But like I said it gives me hope that you know at the end of the game with even with all that said we still had a chance to go and tie the game. Does this team need to learn how to win coming out? Yeah, and you know, we went out there and competed and like I said with the penalties, we got to clean them up. But, you know, we’re going to go out there week in and week out and compete and you know, the winds are going to start coming. I I believe I can feel my bones. The winds are going to start coming and we just got to stay together. You know, knock like block out the outside noise and just, you know, clean clean some things up. So, ugly. Got to be some some more kind of cohesion to the whole thing. Some more smooth edges. Yeah, just the penalties really just, you know, on offense they’re drive killers on defense. They extend drives and they always I mean if you look at I mean I don’t know what the numbers are but they just more than likely it leads to points, you know, and so um you know obviously the penalties is the glaring thing and so um you know it’s only week one and like I said earlier, you know, even with that said 13 penalties, it still is at the end of the game with a chance to tie the game and so um you know I’m confident that you know we clean these things up and you know we’ll start stacking some wins. What’s the on those? very very got to we got to capitalize on th those you know chances we had but again you know we going to our opportunity will come again um and we just got to got to get seven instead of settling for three and then hurting oursel with penalties well given the duress he was under most of the time what did you see from your rookie quarterback today I think he same thing we’ve been seeing poise he never got rattled really um you know it’s aar environment Denver is a tough place to play and a good team and uh I didn’t see his demeanor to change at all. What would Kylie say after this? What would you guys say to yourself? Uh mostly, you know, we said to ourselves just, you know, you have that many penalties, you know, even though we had the turnovers, but when you have that many penalties, it’s going, you know, it’s tough to win. Yeah. You for you guys forced four turnovers and to only get six points out of that. Like how how frustrating and difficult is that? Yeah, that it’s just tough to win. You know, we have all the finishes like that. Uh, and it’s just frustrating, but again, we got a chance next week against another playoff caliber team at home. Should be a good environment, so we got to bounce back. You guys talked all off season about eliminating the self-inflicted stuff. And it reared up again today. What’s the solution? Do you have one? Keep emphasizing it. And eventually, it’s going to turn around. I know guys may be tired of hearing it, but uh I mean that’s all you can do is just keep emphasizing it and just keep harping on it, keep coaching it hard, players and coaches, you know, just and just keep keep going at it and eventually it’ll turn around. Until the end of the day, I’m I’m good. It’s coach’s decision. Did you know that coming in that you were kind of want to be on a pitch count? Pitch count. Yeah. But I didn’t know it was going to go the way it went. Disappointed about that. Did you want to go back out there at all? Did you say anything to them? Yes, I did. But it’s something a team player, you know. How’d you feel when you did that? I felt great. Felt great. Think you could offer more? Definitely. I wanted to offer more. How hard was it to sit on the sideline and just watch the result? It wasn’t It wasn’t hard, you know. It just I was watching my brothers compete. You know, we didn’t come out on a W side. You know, that’s that’s what you know, everybody in here feeling.

  1. The offensive play calling and head coaching decisions killed the team today. We have the players to win but the offensive coaching staff and HC are not getting the job done.

  2. My question is why with a new QB playing in his 1st game your up 6-3 with 45 seconds b4 the half on your own 3 yard line and you call a pass 3 times/ it backfired and gave Denver the ball and with 22 seconds they scored a TD .๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

  3. Once again kicker is our best player again ๐Ÿ˜‚ . Cam looked like trash taking a 19 yrd sack like he is in highschool ๐Ÿ˜‚ o line trash. Cam not ready at all. First pick once again

  4. First of all Cam Ward isnt the problem like most people are saying. He did a great job for his first NFL Game as a rookie. He just has to learn to not run the other way when under pressure, and to throw the ball out faster on the snap. I think the problem is the WR/TE room, they need to catch the ball and not rub butter all over their hands. Also please get rid of Callyham, he's not fit for the job period

  5. Even with sneed we got davante Adams and Luka coming up we expect brown Lee to stay with either one of them….been saying we need another CB from free agency a discipline veteran who won't be penalized every other pass
