Major League Baseball matchup going down Tuesday, September 9th, 2025. For the Giants, it’s Robbie Ray listed as the starter. And for the Diamondbacks, it’s Zack Gallon getting the nod here. And Gallon’s been outstanding. In his last seven starts, he’s gone six innings, six times, a 2.2 ERA. And of those six starts where he’s gone six innings, five of those have seen Gallon give up two runs or less, including back-to-back six inning shutouts over the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers. His last five starts against the Giants. Gallon also a 4-1 record, a 3.41 ERA, including seven innings of two-run ball with 10 strikeouts and a win back on July 1st. However, I still have my concerns for Gallon in this matchup. I understand that he’s pitched very well as of late, but you’re going against the Giants lineup that has been able to back up Robbie Ray. Now, Robbie Ray in his last five starts has given up at least three runs in each of those starts, four runs on three separate occasions and has a 5.74 erra over that stretch. Now, the concern is that if you’re looking to back the Diamondbacks is that despite that 5.74 erra and the fact that Robbie Ray has struggled in some of those outings, the Giants as a team are still 4-1 in those five starts. The Giants against right-handed pitching in the last two weeks are still very, very solid. You know, they’re hitting .328. Their team OPS numbers are the best in baseball. The isolated power numbers are the best are some of the best in baseball. So, it’s like I said, it’s a little bit concerning for me for Zack Allen in this matchup going against the Giants. Now, that being said, the Diamondbacks against lefties have still been holding their own as well, hitting 252. The team OPS numbers are top 10. The isolated power numbers are decent as well. A high walk rate at 11%. But the strikeout rate is also just under 25%. which is a little bit concerning given the fact that you know if you followed the Arizona Diamondbacks and and you follow the San Francisco Giants and you follow this rivalry, you know that’s for Robbie Ray, strikeouts are his game. Strikeouts are where he thrives. And for me, I think that Arizona, you know, still going to strike out a fair bit against Robbie Ray here. Again, I respect the Diamondback’s offense, but you know, still it leaves a lot of lot to be desired for me in this matchup. And I think that the Giants can keep up their hot hitting here and get to Zack Allen. Rough up Zack Allen a little bit. And more importantly for me, the San Francisco Giants, I think just have the better bullpen when it comes down to the later stages of this game. So, I’m going to roll with the San Francisco Giants in this one. I just think, like I said, I think the better team with the better pitching here.
