He wasn’t good, but he wasn’t that bad either. If he can build on this, he will be a relatively average starter.

I try not to glean too much from divisional games, but the 49ers offense looks just as bad as ours, if not worse. Their defense looks great, however. Hopefully we can win a low scoring slug fest next week.

Cam Ward also didn’t look good, but I’ll give him a pass on his first start.

Also wanted to share this for those who say we should just tank for a qb. Bryce was a first overall, and is worse than Rattler. Ward didn’t do well, and neither did most of the young first round qb’s (Jayden is the truth, though).

  1. Bryce Young is arguably the worst starting qb in modern NFL history so not sure where you are going with this. Showing a stat that says Rattler was merely terrible instead of apocalyptic isn’t exactly a plus.

  2. I honestly am not a fan of Spence. I wanted shough to start the season but Spence was not horrible in week 1. I hope he can do a little better week 2 but we will see

  3. Can we not just give him 3-4 games before we criticise? Let him build some confidence and a relationship with the offence and if he shows no improvement start slough. I honestly think Moore is just giving him a real chance before writing him off completely.

  4. Team subs are always the worst but this one is an embarrassment even by those low standards. Most of this fanbase wasn’t around pre-Brees and it shows. Either the sky is falling and we’re doomed or we’re drunk on the kool aid and going to the Super Bowl. Just ride it out for a couple years of the new regime then we can revisit all of this.

  5. He’s 0-7 as a starting QB and averaged under 5 yards per pass… You can put lipstick on a pig… but it’s still a pig

  6. Rattler has also never played as well as Young, Stroud, Nix, and Maye. Rattler played his game way, way too safe considering the fans have zero expectations of him and he’s got a second round pick that everyone assumes he’ll be benched for.

  7. The throw to Johnson for the tie was an absolute dot. The problem is that the next play was a bad throw.
The issue with people saying things like, “Wow that was a great play. I knew he was the answer,” is that yeah he can make some great throws half the time. He has the arm. But the other half are the bad plays. The starters and the great QBs in this league are making good plays 75, 80, 90+ percent of the time. Rattler is at 50/50 right now. 60/40 on a good day.

  8. This is what I’ve been telling people. Give the guy some time. Can’t be a true fan and hate this young guy in the same sentence at this point. Then be upset because we’ve let so much talent go to other teams over the past few years! Be patient.

  9. AZ has a confusing defense which has a lot of shifting/motion going on. He did well to navigate this with limited experience in the NFL. I think he’ll be fine once he’s more adjusted and also plays against a different style of defense.

  10. a) not an impressive list of QBs to be ahead of
    b) it’s one week
    c) even if rattler becomes a replacement-level starter in the league, this roster is likely taking us nowhere. We’re in a rebuilding phase. It’s ok if the team isn’t good for a season or two, that’s the nature of this league. The problem becomes if the team shows no progress, but that is only something we can only judge with time.

  11. It still dosent matter what most think tho this staff is confident in rattler and there’s no vet coming in no time soon these are the growing pains with a rebuild

  12. Rattler looks like a chicken who is trying not to get his head cut off. I’d like to see shough play

  13. I thought he looked well , they were just tryna coach him safe , I think he will look better as the year progresses , needs to be more mindful of those concussion balls tho

  14. He’s also not dead last in quarterback rating or QBR. He was 22 and 28 as of Sunday. He didn’t throw a pick or TD. We’re giving high praise because he wasn’t the absolute worst in Week 1. Our expectations are at an all time low.

  15. Carr is our third best QB, brooks was definitely second. And I think rattler played a shit game in week 1 and looked rough. Couldn’t move past his first read and was constantly throwing into coverage. I’m not saying he can’t get better, and I expect him to because I think we have a great offensive coach, but the man plays professional football, he can be criticized for a bad game. I mean shit the fact that we pay so much attention to a fucking game and all the ins and outs with all the players is pretty ridiculous to begin with. But if we’re gonna get invested in the sport and the team, it’s fine to call a spade a spade. He played like shit and made bad decisions. Had a few good throws and he competed the whole game down to the final play which was great to see but he had a 70 QBR, not good.
