St Louis Cardinals vs Seattle Mariners (09-08-25) MLB Game Predictions, Picks and Best Bets

[Music] We have to talk about this goddamn guy. Every 971 972 Miles Nicholas and the Cardinals at plus 186. Brian Woo and the Mariners at minus 215. Total is 7 and a half flat across the board at minus 110. All right. Bdub does Miles Nicholas keep keep starting. I keep not being able to figure him out. Is there any reason to take the underdog Cardinals here? Or is Brian Woo keeps styling and profiling? Mariners need some wins here. Only one and a half games up in the AL wild card. What do you think here? Bdub Cardinals Mariners. Uh gosh, I love the illusion to Ric Flair. Not only did you allude to it, but you also brought in the styling and profiling. Well, let’s see if his numbers are styling and profiling, Kyle. Well, they are kind of. Uh the stuff plus is in the 76th percentile. uh location plus has actually decreased a little bit. So you wouldn’t say that that’s styling very good, but 67th percentile pretty good. If you look at the base winner number, run suppression number, he’s 16% better than average. I’ve got him slotted in number 30 out of 150 pitchers. Well, what about Michael? Look at Michael. He’s 11% worse than average by my numbers and he’s 98th out of 150 pitchers. And what’s more is if you look at his stuff plus number, it’s in the 19th percentile. And I think that this is really the key. And I think I think that the the results for Seattle since they they got Naylor. Uh and they got Suarez, too. So they got the two guys from the Diamondbacks, but it’s been kind of a mixed bag. And I know for me it’s been worse than a mis mixed bag. I’ve I’ve lost a lot of bets on this team. I’m going to stick with them. I I like the offense. I still have the offense rated third in baseball versus the Cardinals offense, believe it or not, versus this respective split, Kyle. 30th in baseball and that heavily uses ISO power. So, not a very powerful offense at all. And then, uh, bullpen wise, uh, the the Seattle bullpen’s capable. Uh, I I think that that could be concerning. You know, they’ve been top 10 all year. Uh, now I have them 14th. I think they’re still good enough to get this done. Uh, first leg of the base winner parlay will be your Seattle Mariners, Kyle. Uh, Kenny, a couple things here. won your take on this game. Woo versus Nicholas. And then uh I was remissed I didn’t bring it up in the last game. Uh what’s this situation here? How’s the town feeling about this Karen that screamed at the kid and the dad to get the I didn’t see the circumstances around it. I just saw her on the screen and instantly just wanted to make her evaporate, you know? But uh but the hell I can uh I I can uh All right, I’ll give I’ll give woman in Philly like I’ll give my two cents on this. So because this is one of the things it was like this was the internet doing its job and then that that immediately morphed into the the internet doing too much too quickly. Right. So quick back super fast backstory if you’re not aware of this. Phillies were playing uh in Miami. Bader hit a bomb uh into like and I think it was like right center field and this this dad runs over gets the ball and again I I’ve like he didn’t go over and like rip it out of this woman’s hands or anything like that. Like it’s just I’ve watched it a couple times like nothing he could have done I think would have justified this woman. But I wanted to make sure like he didn’t run up and like steal it from her daughter or like take it from her or anything like that. Like it’s you get a crowd of people going for a ball. He reached down, he got it, walked over and then he walks over. He’s like a he’s like a section over. Puts it puts it into his son’s glove. The son is like levitating. He’s he’s so unbelievably happy and his dad’s hugging him and then and then this this woman like just just appears and shout out to I guess the camera crew. Like I can’t believe this entire thing got got caught on TV. Like it was like if this doesn’t get if this doesn’t get caught on TV like I don’t know if the story makes its rounds like I know people that were close to the section had their phones out and there were some videos going but like this made it onto the broadcast almost the entire ordeal and you’ve got the commentators like talking about it right so this woman storms over and is just like in in the dad’s face like just absolutely giving it to him and eventually the dad caves you know takes the ball from his son gives it to her and then and then she walks away. So naturally this like this explodes on the internet. And a couple of things here. Number one, like shout out to the Marlins organization. Like there’s 150 people total at this game. Like it’s a it’s a Marlins game. The Marlins are in the process of getting curb stomped and yet they got wind of this and a rep from the Marlins went to their section in the outfield, gave the kid like a gift bag and all this stuff. It was just I thought that was a really really classy gesture from the Marlins. Um, and then after the game, I guess the Phillies caught wind of it because the kid got to meet Harrison Bader. He gave him a signed bat and like all is well. So, like from my standpoint, the second that happens, like all right, like what’s done is done. The woman got shamed on Twitter. The kid got made whole and what was like a a pretty shitty situation turned into probably the single best game that he’s ever going to go to, right? So, like the kid’s fine, all is well. And then like what the the next day now it’s a thousand people like trying to get this woman’s name and doxing her and all this and it’s just like all right like hold on like you can call her a [ __ ] you can tell her that she’s like the worst person. You can talk about her being the worst person ever on Twitter. You can drop your memes and and all that good stuff but like like 24 hours later if we’re still trying to like hunt this woman down like look what like what are we doing here? The kid got a signed bat from Harrison Bader. He’s fine and the woman is now known as Philly’s Karen. like mission accomplished. Like I I just think continuing to go the extra mile is like is just completely batshit crazy. And I think Hey, is this true that she got dismissed from her job? Is that true? I don’t know. I So I I saw somebody say that. I don’t know. I’m I’m waiting to see if that’s actually true cuz the few like the few sources I saw online. Like I I just I I don’t know if if if that’s a real thing. I mean, like I’ll I’ll say it. Like I I hope not, but you know, it is it is what it is. But like she was completely out of line. She got destroyed on the internet, rightfully so, and the kid got made whole and and then some. I just think right there at that moment, it’s like, okay, we can we can calmly move on from this. And you’ve got these people that are just like foaming at the mouth to to take it a step further, a step further. And the last thing I’ll say on this, and again, by no means am I trying to make this like a like a, you know, a political conversation, but everyone kind of assumed uh what side of the aisle this woman was on based on that, right? So my think is this. If she’s on that side of the aisle, you’ve got the people on the other side of the aisle that are now trying to ruin her. And whatever, I’ll say it. I’m typically on that other side of the aisle. But but that but that side of the aisle is also the the team that’s the mo that’s anti- cancel culture, right? Like you can’t be you can’t be the anti- cancel culture part of the equation and then foam at the mouth at the first opportunity to to cancel somebody that you think might be on the other team. Like it just it doesn’t work like that. So again, the whole situation was nuts. Let me ask you as a dad, and I know we’ve gone off on a tangent here, but I want to get both of your opinions on this cuz this is a fun topic. It was the topic of baseball over the weekend. As a dad, I got to know, are you giving that lady the ball? Because if that chick comes over to me and yells at me like that in front of my kid after I give him the ball, I don’t know that I’m not grabbing her by the throat and sending her back to her seat. And I don’t like I’m not about putting hands up, but I don’t think I’m giving that chick the ball. I’m not giving her the ball. like she’s sitting the [ __ ] down and I’m going to embarrass her for the rest of the like I kind of dislike this lady so I’m kind of glad people are going after her. I don’t know why this lady’s stuck in my crawl a little bit. I just something about it like all aside like no you you can’t you can’t you can’t put your hands on her. I think No, of course we wouldn’t. But you know what I mean like she’s not getting that face. The dad the dad’s getting a getting a hard time for sort of for for for caving in and like I get it too cuz you don’t want to have a scene in front of your kid. It went it went on for so long. Like I think I think he he tried to explain, hey, like fair is fair. Like like I didn’t I’m not sitting here by myself at at 50 years old and pocketing this baseball, right? Like you saw you you saw me walk over give it to my son. You see how happy he is and and apparently it was his birthday. So you presumably he tells her it’s his birthday. He got the ball. And I think you you know you argue and argue as long as you can. if after like three minutes if she’s just continuously going insane and the situation has to be diffused like what the [ __ ] are you supposed to do? And I get like you’re trying to like you want to teach like some sort of a lesson here and it’s like what I guess the really tough lesson learned to this to your son is hey bud sometimes people are completely insane and not every time but there are certain times you just got to do what you got to do to diffuse a situation like this. So again, I again a lot of people, like I said, Anna on kind of my side of the aisle are are are crucifying the dad for not sticking up for his son and not sticking to his guns. And it’s just like, dude, like what the tough spot, what’s what’s the guy supposed to do? She’s standing there for five minutes yelling at him. Like, what are you going to do? I had an incident like that at Disneyland where I was like, do I just slaughter this guy or do I be cool? Bdub, how you handling this? I don’t know if you caught it, but how are like to me it’s like I’m at a baseball game. How much did I have to drink? Like if this woman scream and I’m like few whiskey sour deep and like I don’t know how this thing turns out but what do you think beat up? Like overall like it was disturbing Kyle. Uh just just the whole for the disturbing to me because the whole fur of like getting a ball. It’s a freaking ball. The only time I would I would and I would go to blows with somebody who over a $2 million ball like like I think that those those home run balls like Bonds home run I think the guy got 2 million for it. So I mean that’s in that in that case it’s worth something but it’s a BER regular season home run. I mean Jesus who cares. Yeah. I I would have just like here’s a ball t by you know and then I would have told the kid you know don’t ever if you are if my kid’s in high school and he goes to a game and he’s a high school pitcher and he hurts himself trying to get a foul ball I that that would that that is what what would irritate me. But what’s with the Marlins Kyle that you know all this ball cont uh playoff game? Yeah that was Cubs though, right? That was Cubs. It was Marlins versus the Cubs and Yeah. Yeah. And so, you know, and here’s I this might be the most famous ball in stands since then. So, I don’t know, dude. It’s it’s a I’ve never really got that whole thing. This is other than if a ball goes into the stands, don’t get hit. Don’t get hurt trying to get it. That’s my opinion. And look, and don’t be like uh like I can’t stand like what does he go about like foul ball guy? The guy whose like entire existence the the dude is he looks like a toddler. He’s like he’s like late 30s. He’s older than me. And it’s like you’re you’re at the game by yourself. You’re sprinting over like four sections at a time. And like dude, like it’s like the whole give the ball to the kids. Like like what are we doing here? I feel like the one cool thing that came from this was like there were just a million other videos of like fans sort of that are like either like the dad or like you know that have that have gotten a home run ball. They celebrate that they got it and then they turn around and they find the nearest child and like and they and they give it to them, right? Cuz that’s that’s what a normal person does, right? That’s what a normal non- psycho does. The one update here apparently, uh, so after this whole thing happened, the whole section was booing her. Um, and then she went over, there was a guy in an Eagle jersey that I think was chirping her. She went and got in his face and then she flipped off the entire section. So, you know what? Maybe maybe she says she’s got some life issues. Yeah, I think you know what? Maybe maybe Yeah, maybe she did deserve what was coming here. And I I’ll I’ll leave it with this. This is a lesson learned for everybody involved. I guess lesson number one is like don’t be a piece of [ __ ] Lesson number two, it’s 2025. If you are out in public anywhere, anywhere, and you do something that’s completely unhinged, there is a really, really high likelihood that that incident is getting caught on camera. Whether you’re stealing a ball or whether you’re, you know, Donna from Delo a couple of months back and you’re taking a [ __ ] on the the person at the stop sign, right? Like, I mean, we talked about that. Like it’s no matter where you are, if you are in public and you just you you you calculate and you decide to do something completely unhinged, you’re rolling the dice because there’s a good chance someone’s got an iPhone there and you’re going to go viral. So just be aware of where you are. I mean, opportunity missed for that Karen. If she would have dropped Trow and just [ __ ] on one of the seats, this would be legendary. I would I I would I would vote her into public office. Yeah, I would I would vote her. I’d want her to be president if she’d have dropped out and [ __ ] on the seats right there. Let’s call it. Let’s call it. That’s a legend in my book. For purposes of the show, we’ll move on to the next game here. Oh, look at Damen Edwards thinking like Kenny and myself here. Wait for the Q&A there, Damen Edwards. For purpose of the show, we’re locking in first leg of the base winner parlay. We are taking Brian Woo and those Seattle Mariners. And thank you for letting us get on a tangent there. I just think that’s a fun topic and uh it’s one of those rare times where baseball is fun. Thank you, Philadelphia Karen for the entertainment. All right. [Music] [Music]
