On today’s show, we preview the series with Detroit, which begins tonight in the Bronx. We take a Tuesday trek through the miners. will tell you how Hudson Valley fared against Greensboro because playoffs were on the line and we’ll tell you what happened. But first, Anthony Vulpi, we were trying to come up with things to do for the show because it was an off day on Monday and as you all know, we pull back the curtain, we record the night before. So, we thought let’s talk about Anthony Vulpi again because he is the I guess the topic duour all the time because of how it’s just been a rough year for him and it’s actually gotten worse. We’ll go into the numbers later, but it’s actually gotten worse for him in the second half. There’s a lot of things that we could have discussed on today, but I feel like we haven’t given a full dive on Anthony Vulpi and his performance. It’s certainly well covered and talked about around Yankee Universe, but um we’ve kind of just mentioned it and let you guys know how bad it’s been, but haven’t given you a full deep dive because you’re right, the storyline going into the All-Star break was how poor he was playing. He’s actually been significantly worse since then. Um, and and I don’t want this to appear like we are killing the young player and we are destroying a young player and sometimes you’re just not capable of playing in the big leagues. And I think we’re in that that range with Anthony Vulpi. Um, he his numbers are not in the grade of any baseball player in baseball. Now, that’s not using hyperbole. He’s not in the bottom 10. He’s not in the bottom 5%. He’s in the bottom 1% of the sport. He’s playing that poorly. You can make a case that he’s the worst player in Major League Baseball this year. And I I don’t think he’s that bad when it comes to talent, but Stacy, have we seen a player play this poorly and come back from it before? Like this level of poorly? And I’m talking about in baseball history. I can’t remember watching a player play this bad and actually come back and have a sustainable major league career after playing this bad. Right. This is an ultimate confidence killer. It’s a belief killer. It’s I mean to come back from this would take an insane amount of mental strength. And we’re not talking just this year, Stacy. His numbers have not been good in his first three years. That’s what I was going to say. If this was his first year and he was going through growing pains, you would think to yourself, “Okay, this is just a rough rookie season. Maybe he can get better, you know, more time under his belt.” That sort of thing. This is year three. This is his third full season and these numbers are abysmal. So, as of September 9th, when this show goes up, his batting line is 207, 269, 396. He has a 269 on base percentage. Yeah. A guy like Anthony Vulpi should have at least a 330 to 350 if he’s the type of player that the Yankees kept hyping up. Like if he played to what they hyped him up as, he should have an op at least above a 330 and to a 350 where you you you know hit the ball, you get on base, you make things happen on the base paths. Like that’s the guy the kind of guy that I wanted him to be. And I’ve said this how many times if you’re a regular if you’re an everydayer and you watch the show all the time, you know how much I’ve been trying to toot that horn kind of thing about Vulpi and be like, “This is the kind of player he needs to be. He needs to stop swinging for the fences. Sure, the power is nice and hitting running into one every once in a while is great, but he keeps trying to kill the ball. And these are the results. 207. His batting average is 207. That is And if you go if you go if you go further back in time, the numbers get worse and worse. Since August 15th, that’s a decent sample size. It’s about a month at this point, right? He’s hitting 136 with a 147 on base percentage. He’s not even walking. I mean, his on base percentage is my goal weight. His slugging is 242. His OPS is 389. I mean, Judge has like an like seven like an an 800 more OPS than him. Judge is an above average player in the difference between him and Vulpi. I mean, think about how insane of a stat that is. Oh, numbers are 168 batting average in the last 70 games, 215 on base percentage, a 53 WRC plus. All of those are the worst in baseball in that span. a 177 Bab. Also the worst in baseball in that span. And that’s just hitting Stacy. He We haven’t even touched the defense yet. Yeah. Yeah. He leads the Let’s clear that up though because he leads the AL with 19 errors. He also has 19 home runs. Let’s bring that up. He has 19 home runs and 19 errors. Has that happened before to a player where they matched home run and error numbers? Because that’s kind of amazing. I don’t know. And it’s it’s funny. I was having a conversation with somebody yesterday about this too because they g they gave me the rebuttal of oh well you know he does provide a little bit of power at the plate and and I I hear that if you’re going to hit 200 to under 210 you got to give me 50 home runs right 18 home runs doesn’t doesn’t cut it and you’re on base better be Iron Judge level of three you know well judges is way higher but you better give me a 330 340 on base at bare minimum but if you’re going to field this poorly he’s he’s a detriment in the field. Like he’s I’m sorry. Like he’s he’s I I know he won a gold glove last year and I know I know it’s in there the fielding capability. He’s a terrible fielder this year. I mean legitimately an off he’s the worst fielder in all of baseball. Well, here’s another stat that stuck out to me because I was looking at his splits and in the second half he has so far 66 total bases. In the first half he had 131 total bases. That’s a big difference. And we’re well into the second half at this point. Like this is not Yeah. This is this we’re we’re we’re a month till the season’s over. Less than a month till the season’s over. There. There’s five series left. Yeah. This is this is not a bad year for him. This is not a bad year for a Yankee. This is an all-time bad year in the history of baseball when it comes to an overall body of work. Um, and and and we will we will dive certainly more into it uh once the offseason hits, but I’m sorry, I I don’t know how much of a career this guy has left. And I hate saying that because he was a top tier prospect in all of baseball. And I know those are damning words for a player, but can you seriously if they go into next year, let’s just paint a little bit of a picture here. If we’re sitting here January 25th, we’re about two weeks from spring training and they don’t have a shortstop competition going into spring training. Is that acceptable? No. Then think about that. This is a player going into his fourth year, still three years, four years, three years shy of his arbitration kicking in. um a top tier prospect that you that was deemed untouchable by by the GM and the manager and everybody that’s involved with the organization and nobody would have confidence in him going in to next year as starting shortstop at all. That’s a damning sign, Stacy. And I don’t know how you go forward without him playing there. Think about think about all the grief we gave Glaver Torres a few years ago when they were playing him at short and his season right his season that year is nowhere close to as bad as Vulpi’s playing. Yeah, this is not at all. Like Yeah, this is like you said, it’s historically bad. It is. It’s that bad. And it’s interesting to me because you brought up the shortstop competition. It feels like they protect Vulpi a lot. They didn’t protect PZA. They brought Vulpi up that spring training and was like, “We’re going to have a competition for this.” They didn’t care about PZA’s feelings, but it feels like they walk on eggshells around Anthony Vulpi. You know, you hear the manager constantly trying to praise him even if he does something bad. He tries to gaslight us into thinking that he’s an elite player when we’re see we’re we just told you the numbers. Okay, 131 total bases in the first half, 66. Only 66 so far with 19 games left. That means he’s not getting on base obviously because the on base percentage is so putrid. He’s not doing anything that he needs to do. And the youth either, Stacy, this isn’t a player that was called up when he was 18, 17 years old, and now he’s 20 years old. And we’re like, “Oh, give him time. He’s still 20.” He’s 24 now. Yeah. Like there’s players at his age that dominate in Major League Baseball. And I’m not saying that he should be that, but again, he was touted that way. Like we we have to evaluate him based on what we were told he was coming into the major leagues. And I’m sorry, Stacy. We were told we were sold top five shortstop in baseball. No Carlos Koreah, no Corey Seager. Thank you. I mean, they they had the money those off seasonasons and didn’t go after those players because they had this kid in the waiting and you didn’t you didn’t trade him, right? Because they had opportunities, too, to to make trades for top tier. Luis Castillo being one of them was pitching his butt off in Seattle. They had opportunities to trade for top tier players and they all chose no every single year because this kid was a top tier player. They’re telling you that because they thought that he was going to be that. And I know they’re trying to prove their point of being right, but I’m sorry. Like I wouldn’t even start him in the postseason. I don’t like I I would start Cabierro because I don’t I don’t think Cabiro is an elite shortstop by any means. He’s a he’s a way better player than Andy Vulpi right now. And Caviro is a league average player and I like Cabiro a lot. I think he when he gets on base, he makes things happen. Yeah. And he’s a solid fielder. He’s not a gold glover, but he’s a solid fielder at shortstop. It’s a lot better than what they have right now. And I I I know they’re trying to give Vulpi every chance imaginable, but but when they have they not given him every chance imaginable at this point. I mean, he’s got a whole season. He’s got I I I can’t even come up with an analogy because I’m not smart enough uh about someone getting multiple chances on something, but they’ve given him so many chances. Stacey, he’s played He’s playing 140 games. Yeah, he’s he’s going to play60 158 games this year. That’s a that’s a plentiful sample size. Almost all of his numbers have gone down. I I don’t I don’t know how like he’s got 103 hits on the season. Like I I don’t know how I can sit here and and you know, put lipstick on a pig, but at a certain point, this isn’t going to work anymore. You know what I mean? Like at a certain point, this relationship has gotten too toxic where they’re not going to make it work with this young player. I know they want to, but sometimes you just got to you get you you got to just cut it off and it’s it’s over because I don’t know if he’s a major league talent. And that’s not saying don’t bring him into camp next year and see there’s there’s never been a player in sports that needs an offseason more than Anthony Vulpi. We can all acknowledge that. But the Yankees aren’t looking towards the offseason. This is not the Colorado Rockies. They are trying to win a World Series in a few weeks. So you can’t try and nurture one little baby step when you’re trying to be a win now team. It both of those things don’t work. I think we’re teetering on the point of his career being over. And I hate to say that. I think it’s harsh, but the proof’s in the pudding here. So Stacy, uh I know a lot of Yankee fans out there are maybe wondering with September callups and where is Spencer Jones and all the bombs that he’s been hitting over the season and why is he not playing in the major leagues at this point? Well, you just mentioned our favorite segment of the week in Fan Mail Friday. Let’s go to our second favorite segment of the week, Stacy’s Tuesday trek through the minors. Yeah. So, poor Spencer Jones. The Scranton Rail Riders played a six-game series against the Woo Socks and he struck out 18 times in that series. He’s a big strikeout guy. He really is. Um, but he also did hit his 33rd home run of the season in that series. So, it’s great. But if he’s doing that in the minor leagues, could you imagine what major league pitchers would do to him? Yeah, they faced Max Sherzer the other day. Could you imagine what Max Scherzer would do to him would do to him? Well, listen to this stat. So, he’s hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, but he’s only 10 for 44 with, hold on to your hats, 28 strikeouts during that stretch. Not good. I mean, that’s that’s brutal. That is really not good. So, looking at the standings, because Scranton’s season is not over yet, Syracuse lost. They fall four games in back of Scranton. Toledo is six back. Indianapolis is seven back. Lehigh Valley is seven and a half back. The season ends on the 21st. Lehigh Valley can make Scranton kind of nervous with a sweep, but I don’t see Lehigh Valley sweeping Scranton in a six-game series. So, Scranton is all set for the playoffs. Can’t wait. Looking forward to it. Yeah. Let’s go down to Somerset. Let’s focus on two players. So, we have right-handed pitcher Elmer Rodriguez Cruz. He picked up the w the win on Sunday. He threw five innings, only gave up two hits, no runs, one walk, six, excuse me, eight strikeouts. I can see since his promotion to Somerset, he has a 256 ERA, 56 and 1/3 innings, 40 hits, 19 runs, 16 of them earned. He’s given up two home runs, 67ks to 17 walks. Overall, he’s 10 and seven with a 238 RA. That’s across both levels. And that’s in 140 innings. And he has 166 strikeouts. So now he leads the organization. He is three strikeouts ahead of Carlos Lraange. I could totally see this kid being a dominant bullpen arm in a few years for them. The high strikeout numbers, the velocity, this is exactly what they’re looking for. And they do a really good job of molding these bullpen arms out of their own system. They really do. Now, he’s not a bullpen arm in the minor leagues, but I think they’re trying to develop him into that. Right. George Lumbard Jr. has 30 doubles and 33 stolen bases. That is including his time with Hudson Valley. He has hit safely in six of his last seven games going eight for 26 with four doubles, a home run, and six runs driven in. So, he’s picking things up because he was having a little bit of trouble in Somerset and now he’s starting to pick things up. I think overall though he proved to us that um the decision that people wanted to be made to have him start the year at third base would have been the absolute terribly wrong decision. Right. And I don’t think it would be George Lombard Jr. competing with Anthony Vulpi for shortstop. No. For the 2026. No. No. We’re talking bring in a legitimate major league short. Yes. Yes. All right. It’s time for Hudson Valley. This is not a fun update. So they entered this past week needing to go 5- one against Greensboro to win the second half crown. They ended up going 4-2. They fought off elimination three different times and then on Sunday they just couldn’t get it done. They were eliminated. Uh they had a 612 overall winning percentage. It’s the second best winning percentage in the South Atlantic League behind Greensboro, but you have to win a half to get into the playoffs. And they didn’t win either half. So that’s a bummer because they did really well. Like they had a really good record both halves. They just didn’t win either one. So that’s how that works. And then Tampa, we joked about it. Did I joke about it last week or the week before? Uh wondering if they were even going to finish the season because of rainouts. And this is what this is what happened. They finished exactly 500, 63 and 63 because Sunday was a rain out that didn’t need to be made up. So they actually finished 500 on the nose. They finished the second half 2734. So you know, not great. But here is an update from Tom Kazinski, which is where I get most of my numbers from, but I’m going to read this entire blurb from him because it’s about first round draft pick Dax Kilby. So this is what he said. Dax Kilby adjusted quickly to professional baseball hitting 353 457 441. That works out to a 159 WRC plus in 18 games. Yes, it’s a small sample size. He walked more than he struck out 13-11 while stealing 16 bases in 17 attempts. He didn’t play any other position other than shortstop, but don’t read into that. Uh he as Tom says, “We have no idea what the Yankees think when it comes to future positions, but they will keep him at shortstop for as long as possible and other positions can be learned.” Just for reference, that 159 wrcny’s WRC plus this year is minus one. Wow. That’s just to put that in perspective. 159 is pretty is really good, but negative one is beyond terrible. So yeah, that’s do with that what you will. Was was judges was it his WRC plus that was 211 in the MVP year where he had 62 home runs, right? Which is which is bonafiably absurd. That is absurd. That’s absurd. Yes. Okay. That for some reason that that number stuck out in my head. I’ll probably remember that. If I live to be 95, I will just suddenly say 211 WRC plus and the people in nursing home will be like, “What is this crazy?” Not even not even not even plus one or zero. Yeah, minus one. Negative one. O yeah. So that’s our Tuesday track to through the minors. So, you know, interesting info, but sad for Hudson Valley. That’s that’s a bummer. Hate to say it, but good development out of the minor leagues uh this year. I think they had a pretty solid year. Yankees are probably pretty proud with the way that the minor league system looked this year. Yeah. So, the Tuesday track through the minors will still be the it’ll still be the minor league segment going forward. You know, as I said, Scranton season doesn’t end till the 21st. We have a couple more weeks to report what’s happening in games. And then as the year goes on, maybe we can do recaps of how some of the bigger names have done this season. Yeah. We’ll start to break down some of the some of the bigger names in the minor league system. Yeah. So, coming up, we’re going to preview the series with Detroit, and we’re going to tell you about some news from around the league. Good rapid reaction to all the biggest moments with the locked on Yankees postcast. So Stacy, we preview another test. Yankees are threearters of their way now into their toughest stretch of this the most defining stretch of the season. We’re going to call it. Um they’ll face off against the Detroit Tigers at home this time, which is a little better. Plus, they avoid Tar Scubble, which I think was the main uh big uh thing out of this series. on Tuesday. This game will be a TBS game, by the way. Uh it’ll be a uh 705 start for the Yankees. They’ll send Will Warren to the mound, 8-6 with a 428 erra going up against once top prospect in all of baseball. And I think a guy they were expecting a little more out of if you’re the Tigers, Casey M, who’s 13 and five, good record with a 3870 RA. Numbers are fine. Uh but I think the Tigers were hoping for a lot better numbers out of him. They wanted him to become to elevate into a number two this year and I don’t think he’s necessarily become that behind Tarco Scubble. Um so they don’t really have a number two going forward. Uh which is kind of concerning if you’re a Tiger fan. Well, yeah, because you need a number two in the playoffs. Yeah, for sure. And they don’t have one. Um Wednesday’s game is uh is an interesting one for me. Uh this this series could be a huge test for both of these teams. Wednesday’s game is a prime video game. It’s a 705 start. Carlos Rodon will go. He’s 16-7 with a 312. He has pitched outstanding since uh in the last couple of starts really. He’ll go up against Jack Flareity who’s seven and 13 with a 485 RA right in the sweet spot for the Yankees. Um Rodon, this is a big start for him. It’s a defining start for him. Um he needs to have a big start in this game and they need to have a good series here. They are it. I mean, I hate using this term because it reminds me of the manager, but it legitimately is right in front of them right now. It actually is. It’s right in front of them. They have the ability to um they can actually catch Detroit, who we all think is this great team because they have this giant lead in the division. Yankees are two games behind Detroit. So, it is right in front of them for sure. And then you get to Thursday’s game where Cam Schlitler gets a chance for revenge. two and three with a 3-24, giving no length and give up runs last time and his area only balloons to 324. That’s how good Cam Schiller has been. The uh the Tigers have announced uh nobody as of yet. Um Cam Schiller’s pitched 50 innings and has 56ks this year, too, which is really good, Stacy. It’s exactly what the Yankees are looking for in a young player, especially coming up to the majors at this point. So, big series. I I would call it the next series. They I think this is the fourth series in toughest series in this four game stretch this four series stretch. I think this is rated number four in my opinion. I think Houston was super important just to get off to a good start when it comes to all these series and prove to yourself that you can beat Houston. Um I think Toronto was very important just playing the team that’s ahead of you in the division and trying to catch a game on them which they did. And I think that the Red Sox series is absolutely massive coming up after over the weekend. So, I think the Tiger series forth the most importance. I would say Toronto and Boston are one and 1A. Houston is three and uh Detroit is four out of those. I feel like Toronto and the Red Sox are way more important than Houston and the Tigers, but they’re pretty even because you want to keep the team that’s right behind you out of it and you want to gain on the team in front of you, which the Yankees kind of did. So, yeah. And just a little bit of a pre just a little bit of a preview here. Um they do get a brutal uh Boston stretch when it comes to that Boston series. That series is going to prove a lot. First of all, it’s at Fenway, which they have not proven to play well at all year. I know we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves. They’re going to face Gileio in game one. They’re going to face Beao in game two, and they’re going to face Crochet in game three. Yeah. And they only Yankees only take only send Freed out there in game three. Uh they’re not sending Rodon out. uh game two free to schedule to go uh Warren and Heel the other guys. So they’re losing the pitching match up in that series. It well heel is picking heel’s picking things up though. He’s looking more like himself because it just took time for him to to get back to things. So I’m not I’m more worried about Warren. I’m not worried about Heel and I’m not worried about Freed either. Their series after that are the Twins, Orioles, White Socks, and Orioles. So they do have an opportunity to really catch some ground after that. But yeah, we’ll see what winds up happening. Um some news from around the league, Stacy. brutal news for the Phillies is they cannot get out of the injury uh bug at all. Like flies on that team. Trey Turner hurt his hamstring in Sunday’s game. Um they’re hopeful that he’ll be out for the playoffs. That news came out Monday afternoon and if you sat on your phone and you scrolled on X or Blue Sky or Instagram or wherever you get your sports news and you waited about 15 20 minutes, you went back to your phone and saw that Alec Boom is also hitting the the the uh the IIL for the Phillies. They’re seven games up on the Mets. They’re currently starting a four game series right now in Citizens Bank Park. I don’t think they’re in fear of losing the division. They do expect uh Turner to be back for the postseason, but this is a brutal, brutal stretch they’re going through when it comes to injuries. They’ve now lost Wheeler, Bow, and and uh Ernner in the last month. Not a good stretch for them at all. No, definitely not. Um this is a fun this is a fun thing because someone brought this up. Oh, Craig Calcara, who writes a newsletter, brought this up and I thought it was really funny because he does game recaps and every West Coast team, AL and NL, are home. San Diego’s at home, Anaheim’s at home, or you know, the Angels. Um, the Dodgers are at home, the Athletics are at home, San Francisco’s at home, Seattle’s at home. Jeez, that’s that’s rough for anyone who recaps every game because you have to stay up for the West Coast games to end and the Rockies are in LA to play the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks are in San Francisco to play the Giants. Yeah, it’s brutal. Yeah. So, I thought that was covered into the West Coast. That is really brutal. Um the Rockies, by the way, are going through an impossible stretch to finish their season. Poor of Rockies. They play the Dod the Dodgers right now. Then they play the Padres’s, then they play the Dodgers, and then they go back to the Padres’s. So those who scheduled that? That is so Rockies. I kind of feel bad. That is uh that is absolutely brutal for them. Um also, Show Otani passed Steve Garvey on the all-time home run list. Uh and Clayton Kershaw won his 22nd game. Uh, it may seem like 222 is is not a crazy number nowadays for pitchers and especially a future Hall of Famer like um like show like like like show Otani or Clayton Kershaw. Uh that’s actually an impressive number nowadays and it’s kind of sad to see that. No one I don’t think is ever getting to 300 wins ever again. I don’t think I don’t think I don’t think it’s physically possible for anyone to get there again. No, not with the way the game is now. Um I don’t know if you’re getting there. I don’t know if anyone’s getting to 4,000 strikeouts. Uh 3,000 you’ll have and I don’t even think a lot of guys will have that. Um it is just it is it is wild how the b how the statistics have changed. And a lot of times you see in sports the modern-day athletes have crazier statistics than the than they want passing up the older guys by leaps and bounds just because the games play different. In baseball it’s completely opposite. Everything’s reversed. Yeah. And it’s like rare when someone passes someone it’s like oh wow. Okay, here’s the thing. Crazy, crazy stuff. All right. Can’t wait for Volpe6s arbitration. He’s going to take all the quotes of Boone and cash calling him elite
The delusional management look at 19HR 70RBI and nothing else.
Ignore .207, 19 errors. .267 obp
.129 two out RISP 660 ops
I could go on
Thank you, Peraza is much better fielding SS, But because he was from NEW YORK , I don’t feel like they didn’t do much help PERAZA HITTING. ,Volpe can go 0-4 and will play everyday . Which peraza or Dominguez and others sit. That’s showing VOLPE FAVORITISM. , HIS ARM IS WEAK. Sorry but that’s the truth.
Volpe was more figment of front-office hype to increase his trade value than anything else. The Yankees eventually believed their own hype. The kid was letdown by the Yankee instructional organization in a big way. The Yankees spend big on players, and computer nerds, but not on instructional options. Our young players can't bunt, run the bases, read pitches, field their position, or hit to the opposite field. Everyone is trained to swing-away. Whose fault is it? Cashman and Boone.
Volpe’s biggest problem is that he doesn’t put up good at bats.
I hear Bo Bichette from Jays is a free agent after the season… Alright glove top batting avg….still young and probably 500m would land him
Same old song and dance. Cashman & Co. have a 25-year history of grossly overvaluing their own young players. It's gotten worse in more recent years. Manny Banuelos. Dellin Betances. Greg Byrd. Luis Severino. Gary Sanchez. Deivi Garcia. Austin Wells. Anthony Volpe. "The Martian." The list goes on. Whatever idiotic spreadsheets Cashman is obsessing over aren't jibing with the actual reality that you and I can see with our own two eyes.
Is there any chance he needs his eyes checked? The only time he sqints is when he is hitting in the box
The team always says they love the work Volpe puts in. What work is this? Does he hit off a tee alone for BP on off days? Does anyone see him practice defense during BP and take hard grounders from Stanton 😂? Where is the work? If he continues this path in the postseason then we really have a problem.
Hes gotta be Hals Lil cusing
Scott Brosius had a very poor offensive season with the Athletics the season prior to the Yankees obtaining him, but his defense was still good, but Volpe's offensive regression has occurred concurrently with an abomination of a year fielding and throwing. The slot angle he is employing throwing and the weakness of his throws suggests he has a shoulder issue, perhaps rotator cuff impingement, Neer Type II or III downscoping of the acromion, and given the apparent decrease in arm strength, a Glenoid labrum tear. Volpe's offensive demise has been his constant struggle to hit home-runs, rather than focusing on putting bat on ball, getting on base, and being a table setter for the big bats in the line-up. When what in reality should be a singles hitters tries to be a home-run hitter, swinging for the fences with each at bat, he will end up sacrificing all other aspects of his offensive game in order to hit the occasional home-run, and that in a nutshell is what we have seen with Volpe. His batting average doesn't justify him remaining in the major leagues, his OBP which should be .350+ minimum, is sub .290, also deserving of a demotion to the minors or trade from the team, and his defense is amongst league worst, making every informed hit to shortstop or double play throw and adventure.
Yankees front office sucks
His career is over? Are you on drugs? He is probably a better 2nd baseman than short but he did win a gold glove at ss!! Hitting will come but I would start the other guy down the stretch.
People are saying things, like his family has connections, this that whatever. If Cashman is cradling him,it will come back and bite him in the A…. . The Yankees have to bring up or find a short stop who can hit!
When the entire baseball world knows Volpe should not be the Yankees everyday SS, it no doubt says the Yankees management puts their ego ahead of winning baseball games.
The problem with Volpe's is that he's stubborn and thinks he's good and is never wrong. The other problem is that the Yankees are defending him because Trashman doesn't want to be proven wrong like he was with Sanchez.
I can't shake the feeling that no matter how good the Yankees are. How much they turn things around. How much the decisions that are made result in wins..these two will always down the team. I am barely hanging on to watching and listening to this podcast. Always a downer. Anyone else sense this??
"He's a big strikeout guy."
Who isn't in this organization? I'm surprised Paul O'Neill has any hair left with this franchise's hitting philosophy.
Brian and Stacey, there have been whole segments from actual MLB professionals about what Volpe needs to do with his swing and all in order to correct what he is doing wrong and become the hitter he was in High School and College and in the Minors. He hasn't corrected that yet and here you guys are wanting to send him home to the couch. Career over. Dang! Give him the offseason and see what happens.
Caballero is everything we expected Volpe to be.
Cashman and Hal, “we fully expect Anthony Volpe to have a bounce back year next season”. Give us a break! This is the guy hitting .207, and WON’T/CAN’T BUNT!! The only stat he leads in is MOST ERRORS in AL. HEY “management”, WAKE THE HELL UP, the king has no clothes! Get your collective heads out of the dirt. Your swing from your heels, golden boy, local hero, marketing piece, is HURTING THE TEAM!
Peraza ,volpe 6 1/2 dozen or the other… it's been 3 years the experiment has failed it is time to move on
Below the Mendoza Line!!,,,, this is unacceptable!!,,, what are we going to do come post?,,, we are going to have to deal with this horseshit because we don't have anybody else to put out there
Put Jeter in
