🚨BREAKING: Josh Giddey Signs MASSIVE Contract With Chicago Bulls | Instant Reaction

What’s going on, Bulls fans? Welcome on into the Bulls Report. My name is Patrick Seman, and we got some breaking news for you guys. It finally happened. Josh Giddy is ressigning with the Chicago Bulls, signing a 4-year, $100 million deal. So, it comes out to $25 million per year. Now, we heard the reports out there. Josh Giddy’s camp, they wanted $30 million per season. The Bulls, they were only willing to give up 20. And it looks like these two sides met in the middle at 25 million. Now, I have some mixed feelings on this. I’m not the biggest fan of it. I’m sure a lot of you guys would disagree with me in the comments section, but I’m just going to be honest with you and give you guys my honest thoughts on this contract extension and where the Bulls go from here because clearly they view Josh Giddy as a building block of this team and a very important part of this hopefully rebuild for the Chicago Bulls. So, funny enough, we actually posted a video earlier on today, literally talking about this and saying it’s going to happen over the next couple of weeks. Turns out it happened only a couple hours later and it is a 4-year hund00 million deal. Now, am I the biggest fan of this contract? No. But also, do I think it is a detrimental contract to the Chicago Bulls and their future? Absolutely not. I have mixed feelings about this one. I think Josh Giddy is a great point guard to have in terms of having him be the commanding force on offense, kind of the quarterback for developing young wings. Like I still think having Josh Giddy on the basketball team for developing a guy like Modis Bisellis and Anois Si is huge because obviously Giddy likes to get out in transition. He’s great at the go-ahead outlet passes and when you have these athletic wings that’s an easy way for getting these guys just easy looks in the transition game part of the basketball game. But the one biggest gripe I have with Josh Giddy, and it comes back to this contract, why it doesn’t really make too much sense to me. For Josh Giddy to be as impactful as he can, you need to have this guy have the ball in his hands 24/7 because Giddy is one of the worst offball players in the NBA. He can’t just be a guy where it’s like late game situation, you just throw him in the corner. he can just kind of be a catch and shoot three-point shooter because he can’t shoot. So for him to be the most impactful he can, he needs a ball in his hands all the time. And for a championship contending team, not saying the Bulls are, but if you want to get to that point, can Josh Giddy be a focal point and a primary decision maker for a championship contending team? We have not seen that just yet. And this contract still screams me. And listen, 25 mil a year, it’s not going to kill the Bulls. Like, it’s not going to put them behind the eightball more than they already are. But the reason this contract bothers me is cuz this just screams to me the Bulls are just, you know, cool with being content with what they’ve been doing for the last 10 seasons and specifically the last five where you’re just living in that playing tournament. You’re just living at that eight or nine seed and you never really, you know, get worse, but you also never get better. And that’s what this contract stream screams to me because you’re looking at this Bulls roster top to bottom. You’re like, “All right, you got Bzelis, you still got Kobe White, still got V, Josh Giddy, Patrick Williams, a Senate.” Like, you got some players on this team. Now, are these players good enough to go win one playoff game or even just to make the playoffs? I don’t think so. But is this team bad enough to go and compete to have a top five pick? I don’t think so as well. Like that again is the problem with this Bulls team this whole off seasonason. What did the Bulls do? Nothing. They literally did nothing. They just drafted Noah Si and resigned Josh Giddy after a second straight season of going 39 and 43. And some fans will say, you know what, I’m just happy Giddy signed up for 25 mil a year. If you think he’s a good basketball player, that’s fine. He is a good basketball player, but does he contribute to winning? Because also with Giddy, like I was saying, he can’t play off ball, but also his gave uh his game offensively, he can’t create for himself. He shot 24% on pull-up mid-range jump shots this past season. It was one of the worst in the NBA. And if that is your point guard, if that is your guy where he has to have the ball in his hands to be the most impactful version of Giddy, because also if Giddy isn’t controlling the game, if he isn’t the point guard controlling the flow of the offense and controlling the pace, really, what’s the point to have him out there? So, this guy can’t create for himself. He can’t hit open shots consistently enough just yet. I know he showed it for I know Bulls fans, and this is why I get a ton of comments. Oh, look at him post all-star break. He was so good. It was 19 regular season games. 19 regular season games. Can we pump the brakes a little bit on postall-star break Josh Giddy? Because before that in a 50 plus game sample size, this guy was averaging 127 and seven. So let’s just meet in the middle. Are you comfortable giving $25 million to a guy that let’s just say he goes out there and averages 177 and seven? Even though be a little gracious, call it 188 and 8. Is that worth $25 million a year? for a guy who can’t guard, for a guy who can’t create for himself, for a guy who can’t play off ball. Now, Giddy, what he does, like his positive game are fantastic. Like, he’s a elite decision maker. Like, I’m not trying to dispute that. Like, Giddy, there are some positives to his game. Like, I’m not saying this guy’s a complete scrub. I’m not saying, you know, this is a terrible, terrible contract. Like, the positive of this contract, I think it’s great for Bzelis and is having that guy to get him easy looks. Like, that’s going to be awesome stuff. But this Bull’s offense this upcoming season, you better run it through somebody else besides Giddy. Now, obviously, he’ll be the one kind of controlling the pace, playing that true point guard role, but the usage rate for this team, it can’t be Josh Giddy number one, or else you’re going to win 37 games yet again, and you’ll be stuck in the playing tournament. You’ll be stuck in purgatory, especially with how bad the Eastern Conference is. You’re just going to be stuck in no man’s land for the next four years of this contract. But Modis Bzelis has to be the primary decision maker, especially late in these games. Like the Bull’s number one goal this off season should have been building around Bzelis, but it almost seems like they’re trying to build around Giddy. You drafted a Senate, you drafted his mate from Australia, Lachland, in the second round. After watching the summer league game, there’s no damn chance that guy’s an NBA player. So, it almost seems like the one move, like the one winning move the Bulls has made with this front office can make the argument trading Caruso for Giddy. And it just seems like they want to double and triple down on that move. I just think it’s ludicrous. Um 25 mil a year. It’s not a lot. Um but like I know people are going to say, “Oh, Jaylen Suggs got this amount of money.” Jaylen Suggs is significantly better than Josh Kitty. Jaylen Suggs actually defends. He actually plays basketball at a high level. He is a winning basketball player. And again, who is the smartest run organization in the entire NBA? It’s Sam Prey and the Oklahoma City Thunder. And they let that man go. They spent a premium draft pick on him and they let him go and the Bulls couldn’t even get an extra first round pick on top of him with all the first round picks OKC has. So I, you know, I would thought I was going to be more mad about this than I am. The 25 is not terrible. I mean, at least the Bulls front office kind of stood tough a little bit. Didn’t cave and give him that full 30, which I fully expected that to happen. But again, the Bulls are just the Bulls. They’re the most irrelevant major sports city team in the entire world. Who cares about the Bulls? They are irrelevant. They got one good building block in Buzzel, but besides that, the ownership sucks. Top to bottom is just not a good organization and they’re going to stay in purgatory. Chicago Sports will just stay, you know, where they are. There’s just no sense of just urgency whatsoever. And now you’re just handing off $25 million a year contracts for a guy who played 19 good games. 19 good games will get you $100 million in the NBA. If you guys have a kid or you’re a parent, sign them up for basketball because these contracts are ridiculous. And Josh getting getting $25 million a year. But we’ll see you guys next time.
