K.C. Johnson REACTS to the Bulls re-signing Josh Giddey on a 4-yr/$100M deal 👀

All right, the Bulls biggest off season story is finally over. Yes, the saga for Josh Giddy in his restricted free agency ends today with the Bulls announcing they have reached agreement on a long-term deal with their starting point guard. I’m told it’s a 4-year deal worth $100 million with no team or player options. So, this really is the logical midpoint to where these negotiations started. It’s well documented that Josh Giddy and his representatives sought $30 million annually. The Bulls started roughly at $20 million annually. They meet in the middle on what to me is a win-win situation. The Bulls get a young dynamic starting point guard locked in for the next four years at a a number that is roughly 14 to 15% of the rising salary cap that’s far less than what you pay a max salary player. Um, and Josh Giddy, while not getting the $30 million that he sought annually, gets $100 million guaranteed before he turns 27 years old. He will turn 23 on October 10th. And he’s also with an organization that really gave him quite a bit of freedom and leeway and high usage, particularly in the wake of the Zack Lavine trade. And Josh Kitty took advantage of it. He really played at an extremely high level down the stretch of last season. He is confident he can continue that momentum going into next season. And look, you got to give the Bulls credit. They read the market. They did not outbid themselves as they did in the Patrick Williams negotiations. And again, it’s a win-win for Josh Giddy. He’s in a place where he’s going to get quite a bit of usage. Uh lot of responsibility offensively. He’s growing defensively. Improved his three-point shot last year. It’s still a pretty gu pretty crowded guard picture. And so you’re already going to hear, you know, the potential futures of Iodumu and Kobe White in the days and months to come um because they are due for unrestricted free agency next summer. But as of right now, the Bulls project to have quite a bit of uh salary cap space in the summer of 2026.
