Red Sox vs. A’s Game Highlights (9/9/25) | MLB Highlights
It’s the middle game in Sacramento as the Red Sox go for two straight over the A’s Connolly early will make his major league debut here tonight. The left hander called up just today. Jeffery Springs on the mound tonight making his 30th appearance 28 start in a season where he has seen career highs has set career highs and is chasing career highs. Roy to step in trying to run his inning streak to 12 straight games immediately swinging a high fly ball left field. That’s deep. Going back, Butler all the way to the wall and kiss it. Goodbye home run Roy Gonzalez number 91 to Nothing Sox for the second night in a row. What a nice way to extend your hitting streak to 12 straight first extra base hit in all of it and it ended up going 426. You think he was sitting on a breaking ball? Roy brings BP to the game. Hello Sacramento one nothing red Sox, Red Sox in attack mode right out of the gate tonight in Sacramento, three straight hits to start off the game for Boston and their offense has shown no signs of slowing to start this series. What a start for the Red Sox and get some early offense. It allows any starting pitcher to settle in chance for a big inning in support of early moments away from making his major league debut. Rob reps, not a 277 7 home runs for Rob. He came into the series listed day to day swinging deep drive. Watch this baby fly. It is gone. Rob Roser destroys one and the Red Sox lead it four to nothing without an out being recorded here in Sacramento. Tonight. Home run Sox are all over Springs in the athletics and it is four to nothing. He hits this ball. Are you ready for this? 463 ft? Oh, from Rob Refsnyder, it’s the longest of the season for the Red Sox. Early 23 years old. The left hander from Virginia making his major league debut and the Red Sox presented him with a nice little four nothing lead. That’s got to feel good Todd and , and his parents and a family in the stands here tonight. A ground ball to Trevor story. Handle that and a little bit of a lunge there by Roy, but he hangs on to the bag to get the out one down and they can breathe a little bit. There are two ways. Nick Kurtz here rookie against rookie. This guy is going to win the rookie of the year swing and struck him out. He gets Nick Kurtz for his first k. His family celebrates outstanding first inning 123. They go, nick. So who celebrates his 28th birthday today? Stands up there for the red SARD will swing and tag that one deep to right center field back to the wall. It’s going to be off the fence. He’s going to race into second. He slides in with a double red Sox are tearing the cover off the ball here in Sacramento tonight. So guard high school star and Jesuit high locally here and has a couple of knocks in his return to home Gonzalez 12 game hitting streak. That’s the longest active hitting streak in major league baseball right now. 21 and a slice of right field down in the corner dive and a miss by Thomas that will bring in another run and to score. So guard diving into second with a double, the red hot Roy Gonzalez is anybody hotter? He looks tremendously locked in again. It’s an RB I double Roy. My definite homie tonight makes it five nothing red Sox. The red Sox are pounding everything. Jeffrey Springs is throwing here guys, Roman Gonzalez coming out of this game after seemingly doing warm ups here at first base and Then he limped back into the dugout and sat down and the trainers starting to take a look at him in the dugout. So Nathaniel Lowe is in this ballgame. There’s a pitch swung on and missed the second strikeout for early so early fans. His second man, he’s retired the first four hitters he’s faced in the majors, a big curveball here and that is strike three called fastball bottom of the zone, carving him up three straight kids in a row. Welcome to the big leagues kid. You love the confidence. He’s just challenging hitters and punches him out. He strikes out the side in the second. He has punched out four straight. The early family going crazy in the stands and why not? Kurt stops at third. Wilson moves up to second and a little blooper into right from Tyler Soderstrom. Bases are going to be loaded for the A’s with one down. So a real test coming for the young man making his major league debut here. Can he get out of this? The next pitch will be his 60th? Got him. He struck him out well with a slider. He’s fan eight huge one there. Two down. How about this? And the gumption from Connelly early, not yet out of the woods here in the fourth. Got to deal with the left hand hitting Lawrence Butler down in the eighth spot. Struck him out with the bases loaded. He showed you something. He struck out back to back hitters with the bases jammed to get out of it. He strikes out three in the inning. What a debut and he’s going to walk in the first man he’s put on on ball four tonight. Get through this inning, be in a position to get that first big league win. He has 17 swing and misses. That is a big, big number swing and a miss here’s the throw down the tag safe there. So the 10th strikeout for Connelly early in his major league debut, the red Sox strikeout record debut, Don OSI 1977 with 11. Get one more finish this thing off. He puts him away, struck him out 11 strikeouts in his debut. This is absurd. This is tied for the most strikeouts by any Red Sox pitcher in his league baseball debut. Finish this thing off and a high pop up at a short left coming on. Durant coming on and he’s got it early. Awesome 11 strikeouts in his major league debut. That will do it for the kid. And what a first one in a red Sox uniform, Jeffrey Springs night is done five plus innings , eight hits, five earned runs, no walks in six strikeouts. He is responsible for the runners on 2nd and 3rd chopper to third. Darryl is what a play over at the hot corner by Darryl her and it goes 52 on the put out. No time to hesitate. You don’t have any time to waste and he threw a strike to langeliers two outs and Sogard is up, that one pop up is calling for it, makes the catch in fair territory. Great job by Ferguson the runners at 1st and 2nd 2 outs bottom of the seventh and so important for Justin Slayton to be the back end piece that he’s shown he can be. And Sox have struck out 12 A tonight, including this man twice. Rooker. He’s gone over three line drive , Trevor story snags it and tumbled to hang on and the Red Sox get out of the inning. An absolute rocket story continues his superb defense enormous from Trevor’s story to end the bottom of the seventh. It keeps it a 50 Red Sox lead as we go to the eighth. It’s going to be a ground rule double that put runners at second and 3rd, 2nd and 3rd infield coming in here for the A’s and Yoshida will climb in as a pitcher, a bat for Eaton Masako, a chance to pretty much put this thing on ice here. Ground ball knocked down by the shortstop. A run will score a throw to first in time six to nothing. Wilson knocking it down and Masa coming off the bench hits it and picks up an RB I So Murphy the left hander three outs away from another Red Sox shutout if you can pull it off. And a little number Murphy will close on that under hand and that’s the ball game Red Sox win it. They have taken the series. This was all about early power and Connolly early who is magnificent, 11 strikeouts through five innings. He picks up his first major league win.
