Reds vs. Padres Game Highlights (9/10/25) | MLB Highlights

A very exciting win for the Padres yesterday against the Reds and more exciting things coming the Padres way with Michael King making a return from the il making his first start in a month. He’s only thrown one time since May 18th. And today would be the first of what we think could be four starts before the postseason. So let’s hope today goes really well, Stewart pinch hit last night. He struck out in the 7th 1st pitch to center Jackson Merrill going way back and that is gone off the top of the batter’s eye. Sal Stewart with the no doubt, Sha straight away and it’s one nothing reds. What a moment for Sal Stewart his second major league home run and as he rounds second and heads to third, he’s going to be able to make eye contact with Manny Machado, his big brother as he calls him his mentor, one of his best friends and he comes all the way home score after a long home run here in the top of the first innings allowed four home runs three separate times this season. No major league pitcher has ever allowed four home runs in four games during a single season and O’er came off the bench last night in the starting lineup tonight and Ryan hits it hard on the ground to the right side and a base hit. So ryan O’er batting second with a one out single in the bottom of the first inning four with a couple of strikeouts last night for Manning’s contact Stewart handles fire to de La Cruz to get the lead man that was smooth. Machado runs. The pitch is low. The throw from Stevenson not in time and a steal for Manny Machado is 13th of the year tying run in scoring position and Sheets Reds have had a hard time retiring him. He got aboard all four times up yesterday. Ground ball right back up the middle, softly hit to the shortstop behind the back at second. His throw in time to get sheet side retired. That’s the first out. Now will Benson Benson hammers that one way out of here to right field. A solo shot majestically delivered by Will Benson. A couple of bombs for the Reds early 10 for Benson. He’s making his first start since the first of August. He homered that day too and he hammers home a second score tonight. Two down in the bottom of the second inning. Here’s Iglesias swinging at the first pitch. He shoots it in the air to right field. Benson is back, he’s at the wall , he leaps up and he made the catch and crashed into the fence. What a play in right field by Will Benson and he is down and hurt the inning is over. But Benson still grimacing noticeably as he leapt up and crashed into the fence, his head , right, the padding. All you can see the next snap on his feet. It’s a nice cheer from the fans here at Pet. What a play by Will Benson and a very, very uncomfortable but impressive play made in right field. 3 to 1 is high and out of the zone. That’s a one out walk to Gavin. Tyler Stevenson is playing his fourth game on the latest go round. Coming back from the thumb injury. He is one for seven. Takes it the other way and deep back goes Fernando at the wall. You can trying to turn it into two, won’t get him but makes the catch as he robs another home run for fernando Tatis junior who just robbed another homer just when you think you can’t see a better robbing of a home run byFernando Tatis Jr. Fernando Tatis Jr.. He surprises who makes one even more impressive than the previous one. Ladies. And you have yourself a platinum glove winner there putting it on full display. Benson who is still in the, by the way after crashing into the wall out there, King delivers and Benson a hard hit to the right side diving stop away from the after 10 in a row had been retired. A leadoff walk for Lorean and Jackson Merrow coming up representing the tying run to right base hit for me for third , at least as Benson it out, Padres are on the board. Another triple for CHS Jackson starting to get his swing together here when it matters most. Second triple in as many days, Padres cut the lead to one second night in a row where Padres hadn’t given the fans here much to cheer about until the fifth and the moment they crack it open, this plate likes up and he hits him right on the not so funny ball trying to walk it out, but he can’t feel that arms just kept on the hands is going to stay in the game for now. And Padres runners on the corners, nobody out for cronenworth trailing two to one in the spot. 284 in the year left Hayes is there, makes the catch from third Cubs Merrill. This game is tied, fly for job well done by Jeremiah. Estrada comes on to relieve Michael King. King went five in his return from the layoff. Two runs on a pair of solo homers, three hits, one walk, two strikeouts. Only 63 pitches, kept his team in the game and Then in the bottom of the fifth inning, they took him off the hook. Jeremiah’s 69th appearance. 350. a opponents hit 219 on the year is grounded out of the first baseman. He’s also flied out to center field, right center field that’s in the gap. And on the run, Tatis, he makes a sliding stop to cut that ball off and throws wildly back in and the ball does get away. It’s backed up all the way by the catcher near the Reds on deck circle. But all the while has to stay at first that’s basically taking away two bases on the play by Tatis. If that ball gets behind de La Cruz is heading to third runner goes, pitch down kicks off De La Cruz, he pops up races for third kicks his own helmet trying to eyeball Merrill and he’s got third base. That will be a steal and an error. And now de La Cruz 90 ft away with one out. Hayes has been one of the Reds best in this kind of a spot and at third, less than two outs infield in hay swings and misses strike three and two down. The infield can back up, can go to work on gavin second strikeout this inning on the slider park has been his career kryptonite four for 53 lifetime three strikeouts. Sixth inning for Jeremiah Estrada and left Jackson Merrill who has driven in one of the two padre runs RB I in the fifth one , two to right. That’s going to get down to the track in the wall. Merrill is headed for two, pull it up at second base with a one out double for Jackson Merrill. He’s heating up Merrill two for three. The rest of the Padres one for 18 on the night that gives rise a shot here with a runner in scoring position to perhaps give the Padres a lead. Struck him out the hardest man to whiff in baseball. And he sat him down on three lengthy played appearances first two for Cron 19 pitches 11 in his first A B and eight in his second at bat. This ball skied in the air right center field over from right. Marte Friedel will peel off and let Marte take it and the inning is over. Nice inning from Zack Maxwell Mason Miller takes over here in the top half of the eighth inning has been dominant all season long, but especially in this Padre uniform, third game, 308 a opponents hitting just 160 on the season back to back for Mason Miller and two down here in the top of the eighth. Stewart swings and misses Frank Green and Mason Miller strikes out his side. 123, Anthony. Are you ready? Say it? Donny matt mclean, say it Stewart comes in. He walks to certainly a guy who can make things tough on you on the base path. There goes Fernando, a swing and a miss and the ball dropped by the catcher Stevenson and stealing second base is fernando in scoring position with two down and now Manny Machado with a base hit can give the Padres their first lead of the night 1 to 1 and it’s hit in the air left field back his head. He’s under it shy of the track and he’s got it and the inning is over, Machado. Got the folks a little excited here in Petco, but the park holds it after two quick ones. Four pitch walk out of nowhere will extend the inning for Stevenson. Stevenson is zero for three. He just missed out a homer when he was robbed by Tatis. That’s the Stevenson leave the yard home run. QB one, Stevenson gets his lick back and this time he puts it in a place. No one can get to it. Tie breaking two run laser 4 to 2 Reds. That’s only the fifth homer that Suarez has surrendered on the season. This San Diego crowd is stunned now the veteran closer Emilio Pagan. Pagan pitching on back to back nights. This is his fourth outing in five games. Pagan threw a perfect ninth last night. One out away. Jackson Merrill has had a huge series struck him out 123 from Pagan and the Reds get the win. They double up the Padres a 4 to 2 finish. They have a chance to take the series tomorrow. Still got some fight in
