Aaron Boone on Aaron Judge & loss to Tigers

Fernando Cruz had been so solid since coming off the IIL. What was different about his stuff tonight? Yeah. Um um you know, Green jumped some on a you know, kind of a strike splitter right away. Um and then just, you know, lost the strike zone a little bit, got a couple of swinging misses, but they were pretty disciplined with with the split. Um I thought Torlson had a good at bat laying off the 3-2 split there that you see a lot of guys chase. Um but just you know couldn’t get in the zone enough there and obviously that in gets away from us. Lighter came in there after and seemed to have trouble finding the strike zone as well. What were you seeing from him? Yeah, just a little bit of that. Obviously the hit batter another walk. Um so just you know a rough inning for us and and getting in the strike zone and and they they were disciplined enough. Um but you know obviously that’s the story there in that inning. Aaron, how do you kind of wrap your head around that inning as a whole? I mean, you guys had been playing well for the most part throughout that game. Certainly an opportunity to win it. Yeah, I mean, obviously Will pitched so well, you know, six strong innings kind of set us up there and um look, they just we just got away from us. Five ends up being five with the hit batter, free passes. Um, you know, we managed contact that, you know, it’s not like we got hit a lot all over the yard and some balls find any holes, but you know, just too many free passes. Greg, that bottom of the fifth, what did you make of the at bats after you guys had put two on the for two batters to reach? Uh, where were the bunt? Yeah. Um, obviously, you know, we don’t we don’t get the bunt down and then, uh, you know, and then a punch. Chris has a good at bat, just misses the three 0. So, um, yeah, I mean, that’s a chance to kind of grab the lead there and hopefully run with it. Just weren’t able to get it done. Anyone else, Max? We’ve asked you a lot about your confidence in the bullpen throughout this this summer just now with less than 20 games to go after a night like this. Just how are you feeling about that? Yeah, it’s still good. Look, I mean, you know, Cruiser’s been great. Um, you know, it it it happened. So, um, you know, and and I feel like Weave’s in a good place and Devin’s throwing the ball well and Bedar and, um, you know, Timmy hasn’t pitched in a while, just some matchup things. But, you know, obviously we have a ton of confidence in him when things right and and I think lighter we need to get him more in the mix here in some of these situations. So, we have the guys down there to get it done. We just got to, you know, sync it up. Like, tonight’s a tough night, but it doesn’t change a lot of the good things that have happened in some of these games. We’ve been able to close out the last few years with what Aaron’s done in this league and the seasons he’s had. you know, he’s been in some rarified air, obviously, and we’ve there’s been these, you know, impressive lists or names that he’s up next to and, you know, but when you see a career list like that, um, with this organization and where he is right now in the center of it, um, it’s pretty awesome. Chris, with Lighter, since he came off the injured list, he hasn’t missed many bats. What What have you seen out of him? Yeah, I mean um you know there he’s had some extended stretches where I haven’t gone to him. You know, there’s been a lot of games where it’s like he’s up he I’m almost going to him and and it just hasn’t got so maybe it’s a little product of of not having the consistent work. I think his stuff’s okay. You know, obviously he’s behind tonight, you know, and and not in the strike zone enough, but um you know, I feel like the the stuff is there. I I feel like just maybe a little bit more consistent work, um in some situations, um and he can take off cuz I feel like the split’s where it needs to be. You know, he’s got the curve and the sinker. Tonight, he just was a little struggling to find the zone. Um, but I feel like he can get on a roll, especially, you know, he gets in those leverage situation, he he usually doesn’t flinch. So, um, probably just a little bit of some, you know, uneven work, um, since he’s been

  1. The reporters should be ashamed of themselves. York reporters are supposed to ask hard questions. That’s what I remember. All these supplies are trying to hold onto their jobs and Meredith is just a pig.

  2. Michael kay us a embarrassment to the five boroughs in New York City and then there’s Aaron buffoon and I love it. Wait to the playoffs how Steinbrenner sell the team.

  3. Pop quiz: (from a Jays fan)…

Do Yankees Fans here think they should be more worried than Jays fans??

You guys have the momentum, but then have games like this one, and Volpe/Boone drama…

We now have an injured Bo and inconsistency in the ‘pen… and you guys and the Bosox are surging…

    To Yankees fans:

Who should has more reason to be NERVOUS?

    Yanks’ or Jays’ fans…?

Super curious. September, any way you cut, looks like it’ll be a rollercoaster🎢 .

    👍 – We’re ROCKING

    👎 – We’re LOSING SLEEP

  4. 18 more games boone focus your team on piling tge wins and hopefully the Jay's hit a wall. Stay focused and hungry to take 1st place. Thats the mission taking the division 💪💪💪👍👍👍👏👏👏

  5. You cannot win a championship with Volpe messing up every game at every part of the game. Can't run, can't field, can't hit, can't bunt, can't throw.

    When is enough enough?

  6. Our Bullpen tends to implode at the Wrong time our Defense is suspect at times and the Offense is too reliant on the Home Run.
A short Series could easily end the Season.

  7. Boone's poor decision-making continues. He's either leaving a pitcher in too long or taking them out too soon at crucial times in a game. Last night he doubled down on his moronic managing strategy of leaving a pitcher in too long and relieving him with an even worse pitcher. I really don't understand how he still has a job.

  8. Why the hell does he insist on playing Volpe he's sooooooo terrible!! Cant hit thats a given ..cant field thats a given .. cant steal a base (gets caught 40% of the time) thats a given..cant bunt or figure out how to get a guy over thats a given! Playing Caballero can only help this team i really dont see what the F— is so difficult about it !

  9. Boone is a clown. He belongs in a circus rather than Yankee Stadium. It's time for Steinbrenner to sell the team so we can start fresh. We'll never win a championship under Boone. We need a real manager, one who knows what he's doing.

  10. THIS GAME SHOWS WHY CASHMAN AND BOONE NEED TO BE FIRED —–VOLPE BELONGS IN AAA – MUST HAVE BRIBED BOONE !!! CRUZ & LEITER 2 GARBAGE PITCHERS ASSHOLE CASHMAN —-SIGNED ———–JUDGE IS HURT & THAT IS WHY HIS HITTING IS DOWN AND HE CAN NOT THROW ————ALL BOONE DOES IS LIE HIS ASS OFF
