How to tell someone they are the best at their job with a single image.
they were spamming wide zone left because their RT and RG were dominating us. you can see the cutback lanes they were making clear as day in this chart
Jets: “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
This is more of a problem than anything lol. Can’t allow that level of success to one side. We got gashed
We need to move that man around the formation! Stop making it so easy to just avoid him. When are our coaches going to come around to this idea?
Myles Garret had 3 sacks in a row, tj almost did too so he’s definitely getting Dpoy according to pff !!
Does that say anything else in addition to avoiding TJ’ side? Is Alex Highsmith a lot worse against the run? Is it an alignment issue? Or are the Jets a “left handed running team”?
And again: even when he’s not getting sacks he’s wrecking games.
dang, this is cool to see
imo the failures in our run defense came from a confluence of
• lack of game fitness/conditioning from our vets
• the jets OL having an above average day
• hall being very fucking good when totin’ dat rock
2 of those are outside of our control. i expect we will settle down by the end of september if not sooner and our defense will return to a top-10 unit.
that said: it’s still time for tomlin (and his entire staff, save for *maybe* smith) to go.
Harmon coming back, the continued development of Black, Heyward getting to game shape are all gonna help this.
I saw a RB in green gouge this d, and I saw #90 unable to make the play from the backside all day.
Also the left side of the line was the side that wasn’t injured. AVT, the RG, just went out this week
Except Justins F Td bluff run. Big minus that Tomlin, TJ and the team didnt see that coming
Now show us the qb bootlegs to TJ’s side and how successful they were. Because there’s a reason they ran Bryce that way.
Same thing happened in the Colts game last year. They completely avoided the side of the field he was on. Only difference is we won this game.
Didn’t Baltimore do this in the playoffs too?
So? Maybe, uh, move him around so they can’t just strategize and run away from him? Lmfao
And yet there’s a poster here who says that TJ is bad against the run.
Isn’t this pretty damning for Highsmith?
Ppl fail to realize this was jus breece hall’s stats, the jets were definitely running all over us
One of the things that’s a trade mark of a truly great linebacker is his ability to be an asset against the run and pass . Micah Pearson is obviously a great pass rusher but is shit against the run . TJ watt is the best defender in football and honestly his only competition is Myles Garrett and when you consider how TJ gets way more opportunities for turnovers (interceptions and open field fumbles ) it’s not even close
They ran at R DE and P. Wilson more than away from Watt.
just imagine if he was willing to move across the line and become more of a multi-dimensional player
So move him around? Ever?
I’d be interested to see this against a non-running QB. TJ obviously impacts game plans, but I wonder if this is exacerbated by the Jets wanting Fields going to the right on RPOs so he can be a throwing threat.
if only he could move to the other side lol
You’re aboit 6 years too late for this *hot* take bubba
Could also be their left side of their line or not liking the right side or their matchups. I also understand their other lineman did pretty good.

And Cam only had 3 tackles.

And we still couldnt stop the run

He was great on Hall’s runs but (prepared for downvotes) he still isn’t the best at reading plays. The [Fields TD run was totally on TJ](https://www.newyorkjets.com/video/jets-steelers-highlight-justin-fields-touchdown-run-09-07-2025-x6087) and he often gets outflanked by overcommitting on first reads.
