[Music] What’s going on, Jerome? Beautiful Wednesday. Birds are chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. Happy hump day out there to those who celebrate. And I I I know like this week is all about JJ McCarthy getting off the mat. And we love the spunkiness. We love the grit. We love the determination. We love the resiliency because not everything’s going to be perfect uh in this game or in this life. And you know, when the chips are down, when when you’re getting kicked in the teeth, like this is the guy that you want. And you we talk about it wi with quarterbacks. It’s something that’s completely undefinable. But you can tell it’s like that Supreme Court judge. Was it Supreme Court where it said, “I I I can’t define pornography by a note when I see it.” This JJ McCarthy is pornography. He has it. We knew it. And we’ll see it. It’s gonna be good. Right. Also, what’s fantastic is J.J. McCarthy’s fiance is expected to give birth to the couple’s first child this Well, it’s coming up soon. Like, he’s due in September. So, could be any day. Who knows? But also twins. Twins. It’s amazing because after he fathered the crooked Chicago Bears, took legal guard guardianship of them. They’re Irish twins. Pun intended. It’s going to be good. All right. Also, there’s other players that played on Monday night. First off, Javon Harrave, seven pressures, two sacks, worth every single penny. Also, Jonathan Allen, six pressures, two basically had Caleb. He he’ll get there. But also the marvelous Miles Price fantastic UDFA out of Indiana hooers and secured the punt return job had a great preseason and definitely made an impact in his first game. Will Raget Sports Illustrated undrafted rookie Miles Price in his NFL debut had 68 yards almost nice on four punt returns. Uh he he’s just the second Vikings player this decade with 60 punt return yards in a game. DD Westbrook 2021. God, what what an adventure he was. And the marvelous Marcus Cheryl did it 10 times from 2011 to 2018. I mean, Price Price is I mean, could be the the best punt returner since Marcus Cheryl’s the pride of John Marshall High School, which would be great. Also return kicks. He had 117 total return yards. Major force in the third phase. All that hidden yardage was there. Plus, we said I I think that there was a punt that hit one of the hit one of the corners. And uh Miles Price scooped it up, no problem, no mus, no fuss, and was good to go. Right. And we we’ve talked about returning punts. I’m like kind of a nerd about returning punts because it’s the hidden yardage of knowing when to field it, knowing when to let it go, knowing when the ball is going to bounce and roll, and just making sure that you secure it. I mean, Bill Parcels was also a big special teams guy and he always talked about that. That’s why Mak Phil Maki no I I I don’t think any relation relation to Lad Maki but Phil Mankia that’s why he was always in demand because he could feel punts and mouse Price certainly one of those two was looking good also looking good. You had Justin School out out here giving up four pressures and a sack, but zero pressures, zero sacks. 88.1 PFF pass blocking grade, which is tied for first among guards with Joel Batonio of the Browns. Uh 74.3 uh overall PFF grade, fourth amongst left guards, obviously the best rookie interior offensive lineman, and he just looked stout. Yeah, he just looked like he belonged. Did not have that deer in headlights look. Everything was smooth. And yes, playing at the Ohio State University, a big-time program certainly helps him even though he never beat J McCarthy in Michigan. Uh but not fooled by games. really good communication with Kelly and school for the most part. Mobility getting to the edge, getting out out there just laying out pancakes, uh just like in training camp. And I think I think we got one. I I think Quy got one. And all the Quy haters and losers are in shambles right now. Also, Jordan Mason, another great trade by Quy again. Quy basically traded Ed Ingram to the Texans and use that draft pick to get Jordan Mason. El Lewis, Jordan Mason averaged 3.8 86 yards after contact last night per true sports media. That’s the highest a running back has posted in a game for the Vikings since head coach Kevin McConnell got the job. So tough physical runner offensive line was able to buckle down second half uh get a running game going. Uh Mason had averaged four and a half yards per carries. Uh and overall just like really impressive. Just love the way that he worked in tandem with Aaron Jones. They complement each other and law and order. That’s the nickname this week. They’re going to be good. All right, we can’t not talk about uh JJ McCarthy, right? It’d be kind of weird, but the hug after the game, the JJ to JJ hug, this connection is going to feed families. It really is. Just first of many. Love it, man. And uh Jefferson said some things about his quarterback. One, not every not every time you hear JJ be McCarthy be that type of guy. But today, game day, when the lights are shining, he knows how to come to work and have that dog mentality. Justin Jefferson, JJ McCarthy saying, “Where else would you rather be to his teammates in the huddle heading into the fourth quarter?” That’s what it was. I mean, the Vikings were down 17-6. Um, and MacArthur just sachets into the into the huddle just like, “Where else would you rather be?” And just having that calmness, just having that perspective, just having that it it really settles down everyone in that huddle. And they, hey, if your quarterback believes, everyone else believes, everyone falls in line. And and I think a major part of the Vikings comeback. Obviously, the defense was great, George Mason was great, McCarthy was great, but McCarthy’s mentality is is really what got it done. Absolutely. Plus, uh, McCarthy was clutch in Chicago. 91 PFF grade in the fourth quarter, which is good. I understand that his PFF grade was not great. Uh, but because the first three quarters, including the pick six, it is what it is. But, uh, in the fourth quarter, six of eight for 101 yards, three total touchdowns, a 149.5 quarterback rating, which is which is good. And just that dog when it matters most, he got after it. Plus, still getting that love and respect from former teammates. Cam Beasy, who I will always root for. Love seeing him dance uh in Indianapolis. Uh pro persuasion. JJ McCarthy happened. Cold safety Cam Beasy on the Vikings quarterback. Uh that that’s what happened in the game. Bam added, “You can say nothing about JJ McCarthy’s mindset. He clutched the whole game. It was beautiful to watch and 100% 100% it it was his mentality that really dragged this team along and gave this team confidence because I mean if McCarthy was in the huddle looking like he he could he couldn’t even poop out a BB. Uh that that’s going to permeate the rest of the team. All right. And I feel like it’s going to give confidence to the team no matter what. Hey, stuff happens. This is the National Football League. Get down. Things don’t go our way. Ball bounces funny. And but guess what? As long as we got number nine, we’re gonna be feeling fine. That’s right, man. Also with the Bears is great. Uh so, of course, Ryan Ples in 2022 when he got the the Bears job. Yes, he was finalist uh for the Vikings job as well. The Vikings got Quy turned out pretty good. Uh who said, “We’re going to take back the NFC North and never give it back.” So, dude has already burned through two coaches and the Bears are three and 16 in the NFC North since Ryan Paul said this. He also got a contract extension. You almost feel bad for Bears fans. Almost. Almost. Also, the Vikings are 3 and0 against Caleb Williams. So, th this is your king. This is your number one overall pick. Mhm. Mhm. Also, uh didn’t list Hawinson as a winner. definitely should have because this block is easily the best block of T.J. Hawinson’s career, right? And respect the balls of Kevin McConnell calling this play. Uh basically getting McCarthy on the perimeter. Was it read option or was it just a play fake? Don’t know. It really doesn’t matter. But the key block was Hawinson out here stock blocking and he got his guy and there was 0% chance that MacArthur wasn’t going to score on 87’s watch. It was great. Plus Hawinson just as fired up about McCarthy scoring as if he would have scored too, which certainly would have helped my fantasy team, but it’s great. Plus, I mean, Hawinson, he’s a team team dude and out here doing all the dirty work that doesn’t get in the box score. And this is just a team mentality. Everyone’s buying in because of number nine. Absolutely love to see it. Speaking of buying in, so Rolando Addison senior, uh, who is Jordan Ason’s dad, one to know, one and0, one down, two to go. Uh, can I get a skull? So, got a got got a bunch of ones. I guess we’re I I don’t know what we doing. What are we doing with all the ones? Is it bingo night? I guess it must be. Is it Is it uh quarter anti poker night? I don’t know what’s going on, but either way, let’s get paid. Let’s get paid. Plus, don’t have a graphic for it, but Christian Watson signed a one-year $13 million extension. Addison is going to get all of the money. All the money. Plus, Addison can be in the building now this week and can practice for the next two games. He’s out until week four against uh the Steelers. And that that’s the thing, too. I mean, this offense was pretty beautiful in the fourth quarter. And you get back Darasaw and you get back Addison and you get back CJ Ham to help with that run game. Let’s go. Let’s go, man. Yeah. Fortunately, a player the Vikings won’t have back for a while. Blake Cashman outside. How about that? Gestling Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman is scheduled for MRI on his hamstring today, but the initial expectation is that he’ll miss several weeks. Cashman D. So hamstring, you got to rest it no matter what. And even once it gets back to 100%, he’s got to play his way back in. That’s perfectly fine. And it is tough because the Viking schedule, Bjan Robinson, Chase Brown, you know, the Steelers running game, you know, Jaylen Warren just got extended. Uh the Browns are probably going to have Judkins up to speed by then. Dylan Samson in that mix. Eagles with Saquon, Chargers with Amari Hampton, the Lions with Gibbs and Montgomery, Ravens with Derrick Henry, they got the Bears again. So I I mean hopefully he’s back by mid-season. the Vikings will miss his leadership uh as well as him more wearing the green dot. But overall, I I I don’t think that they’re going to go out and sign anyone like unless it’s bringing back Kuja Hill. But Wilson stepping up like a dog like Wilson was fantastic, man. Monday night. Also, Van Genko and Turner can play some offball. You know, Kobe King can get in the mix, too. Mattelis and Harrison are basically extra linebackers. So, yeah, I I think they’ll stay in house. I think Flores will move things around, but Cashman that that’s a tough loss, but also getting him back for the end of the season, the stretch run. What? 100%. It’s going to be good. Also good. Love to see this. Uh, so my countryman young coup sucked for the Falcons. Miss missed the potential game tying field goal. Pelisero, the Falcons are signing kicker Parker Romo, John Parker Romo to the practice squad per source after young young ho’s critical miss Sunday. Raheem Morris said they’d bring in competition. It’ll be Romo who was 11 to 12 on field goals in four games last season with Minnesota. Of course, remember Romo well the thrill had that quad injury and win on IR. John Parker Romo came in formerly of the UFFL. Former Virginia Tech teammate Christian Darasaw, which is great. And Parker Roma was fantastic, man. Four really good games, 11 to 12. He was the only person who scored in the Jacksonville game in that ugly lowscoring win. And I’m rooting for him. Like I the revenge game narratives are lined up. Well, hopefully he is bad against the Vikings, but then he keeps his job and is good the rest of the way. Something like that. Speaking of bad at his job, uh Cowardd Coward suddenly pulls a 180. So Cowardd for the first three quarters was kind of like everyone else, just completely burying JJ McCarthy. Ah, we’re Colin was right. And then all of a sudden he pulls a 180. And we had talked about this where the media were just going to completely flip one after McCarthy proved that he’s worth his salt and it’s like, “Oh, I always believed nonsense.” And you know, Coward even compared McCarthy to Baker Mayfield, which if you’re familiar with Coward, he he’s always had this weird like a hard-non hate fetish for Baker Mayfield. No, not buying it. Not buying it. Hey, how’ Sam Darnold do? Good job. But how how did Caleb Williams do, you know, with her USC fetish? Just ridiculous, man. Done with coward. Done done with everything. Just we’re going to enjoy our guy. Who cares what everyone else thinks? There you go. Anyways, that’s it. Uh Vikings practicing today.
