Is Allen Iverson the G.O.A.T. of 76ers?

  1. Wilt Chamberlain (through his success here was a shorter stint). Imo Julius Erving and AI are on a similar pedestal.

  2. It’s by far Julius Erving. People forget how huge he was nationally. Video games, sneakers, commercials, MVP & a championship. He made the 76ers a contender for 8 consecutive seasons. 4 finals appearances. Cultural icon. He was arguably the coolest man on the planet in his first few seasons in Philly.

  3. I think it’s Dr J. However if Embiid wins a title that changes his legacy so much. he’d have a pretty strong argument too

  4. Dr. J for the sixers goat, Wilt for Philadelphia basketball goat (wilt would walk with it if he didn’t mostly play in Philly for the warriors)

  5. As a basketball player, I’d prefer Wilt, Dr J, Moses and Barkley. As an icon? I don’t care about that stuff so much.

  6. Got to be Wilt , though I get many peoples point about most of that being the warriors. But if not Wilt for that reason for sure it’s Dr J. No shade on Iverson either one of my all time favorites.

  7. Dr. J, easily. Iverson is most iconic (although Dr. J has a very strong argument there too). Embiid is arguably the most skilled. I favor modern players over the past so I put him over Wilt, but that’s also arguable. Wilt is probably the greatest player to wear the uniform, but can’t say he’s the GOAT of the Sixers or Warriors.

  8. The question was answered already but will say that for people about 35 and under, when they think of the Sixers, they think of AI. He’s not the GOAT of the Sixers and wouldn’t even say he’s the singular face, because Dr. J is Iconic in his own right, but with….I don’t wanna use the word casuals but in terms of the mainstream conscious, when you think of Sixers, AI comes to mind first with people under 35/40.

  9. I’ll always ride with Dr J… loved that he started his professional career in my home state. (Yes I grew up with Iverson wreaking havoc on my high school in both basketball and football, he’s second)

  10. I think it’s close between Dr. J and AI but I give iverson The Edge because he did it all by himself. Must be nice to have Moses, Charles, Daryl, Bobby Jones, & Maurice Cheeks…and I grew up in the 80s going to lots of games. I than had season passes for the AI years so I lived both of their eras. Allen never had a legit star running mate and please don’t say Chris Webber past his prime. The closest thing was Mutombo and he can’t score LOL! Iverson is the man in philly.
