CONCERNING DaRon Bland Injury Report And Jadeveon Clowney Visit Update | LATEST Cowboys News

[Music] Coming up on today’s Cowboys report, the latest on Devian Clowney and where things sit on that front. Cowboys injury news headlined by a worrisome update on Don Bland. And we’ll run through the Giants injury report before week two as well. Before we get into all of this, we are in a sub battle this week against Giants. Now we have caught them. Let’s get into where things sit on the Jvian Clowny front. As I’m sure most of you know by now, Clowny had a visit today with the Dallas Cowboys as of filming. and knowing and acknowledging that can certainly change pretty much any instant because that’s how this type of thing tends to work. No signing as of yet for the Dallas Cowboys. Now, Josina Anderson does report that Clowney has left the Cowboys facility after his visit concluded today. Of note, I I wouldn’t read too much into that. In this type of situation, oftentimes they do leave. I I mean Kendrick Bourne took motivates then and go back to the same team he visited the first time around. The Cowboys and Clowney reportedly will end up keeping in contact. Not a huge surprise there. CL took a physical during his visit as well. Clowny has great size relative for edge rushers. I think does fit pretty well with what the Cowboys are searching for at that spot. If they are searching for stuff, which clearly they are because they brought him in for a visit. Of note, here’s what Brian Shottenheimimer had to say at his Cowboys press conference today, saying, quote, just evaluating. He’s still got a few more things to do with us. Then we’ll circle up after practice and kind of see where we’re at. He’s a free agent. He has choices as well. We’ll just kind of have a meeting of the minds and see if it makes sense for us. I do wonder if there is a scenario or scenarios, I guess, in which Clowny ends up taking other visits. He doesn’t have to sign before week two. He’s probably not gonna play week two anyway. His market hasn’t been overly busy. It certainly is worth mentioning, however. The Cowboys do have an open roster spot. They don’t have to make any additional moves, so they have kept their powder dry, so to speak, following Perion Winfrey going to IR. Here’s more of what Shot Nimer had to say. I was with him in Seattle. He’s a really good football player, and he’s misplaying the game a little bit. I would say the personal relationship I have with him and the problems he can cause in the pass game and the run game are the main reason he’s here. I think the run and the pass is certainly something that has to be remembered for Clowny. He is a very good run defender. He’s always been a very good run defender. The sack numbers weren’t great for Carolina, but the pressure rate didn’t actually dip all that much. Some situational stuff, I think, was very much a factor in that. So, now we wait and see if anything will end up happening with Clowney and the Cowboys. Do you think the Cowboys will end up signing Jade Devian Clowney? Why for yes, N for no? I think Malik Hooker will end up playing barring a setback of sorts uh for the Cowboys coming up here uh on Sunday against the Giants. He was listed as limited with a foot injury on Wednesday. I’ll remind everyone of what I’ll say multiple times over the course of the year. In general, there are exceptions, but in general, if you are limited on Wednesday, that means you’re going to end up playing and that means you’ll probably be full by Thursday or Friday. of note for the Hooker injury update here. Todd Archer had said it was a sore toe. Cowboys listed as a foot injury. I guess both are true. Like the foot, the toe is part of the foot, right? You don’t whatever the exact details were, I don’t we’ll probably know more later, but the fact that he was limited. I do think bodess pretty well for the Cowboys having him out there in week two. He did not practice today with a foot injury and making matters worse per Nick Harris the Fort Worth Star Telegram. He was spotted in a walking boot in the facility which just raises up all of the red flags for me especially since Bland had a foot injury last year. This is a bad sign for the Cowboys. I’m sure we will know more probably by Thursday afternoon at the Bryant Shimmer press conference, but to go in a walking boot is is never a good thing. We can spin the precautionary hopes all we want. I don’t like that update. I hope that the Ron Bland is okay because the reality is this Dallas Cowboys defense needs him pretty badly. They literally just paid him. It would be a horrible outcome for the Cal boys if Bland goes down with some of injury right after getting paid. When you finally get healthy with Trayvon Diggs, then your other corner goes down because somehow you’re just cursed it feels like for this Dallas Cowboys team. Some more thoughts to come on this, but just right now gut reaction. What is your concern level over the Don Bland injury? Scale it for me from one to 10. One, of course, on the low end, 10 on the high end. Don Bland played really good football against Philadelphia Eagles. Targeted just twice, two catches, 11 yards. One of them went for a first down. By the way, the guy who caught both catches against Don Bland, it was just Saquon Barkley. He didn’t allow a single catch to a receiver in that game. If you don’t have Bland, which again is an if for now, and I hope things don’t change or change for the better, I should say. Trayvon Diggs, Kaire are obviously your starting corners. You don’t have Kalin Carson available. You don’t have Savone Revel available. Your other options are Truequz or Triquz Bridges and Ready Stewart who is a nickel corner. You’d play Digs in him on the outside. You need a new nickel. Bridges is not a nickel. Your options are Stewart. I would wager that you call up from the practice squad for this game. If it end up not having Don Bland, I would wager Zion Childress gets the game day call up. And either way, you’re starting a former undrafted free agent at Nickel with a Giants team that I’m sure will use 11 personnel, although there are some injury notes to get into on that front, but we’ll see about the cornerback room. Definitely worth monitoring and yeah, pretty concerning as well. Giants injury report of note, Micah McFaden has essentially been ruled out already. It’s more of a question of does he have to go on IR? That is the Giants young linebacker who was probably going to play a pretty big role for this team. Uh they had to go to Darius um Muisaw. I think I pronounced that correctly. The uh former day three pick out of UCLA along Bobby O’Re. They’re kind of thin at that spot at linebacker. That’s worth monitoring. Wandel Robinson is the Giants uh slot wide receiver. Neighbors and Darius Sllayton are predominantly on the outside. You can move neighbors all around, but Robinson is indeed banged up. And that’s certainly something to to keep an eye out with the details on that front. Very concerning. uh did not practice with an ankle injury. It is only Wednesday. I don’t unless he’s a boot like I went with Ron Bland. I don’t panic on that stuff until they don’t practice on Thursday. Uh so if Robinson can’t go Thursday, you kind of cancel each other out. But also not because Bland is the Cowboys best corner and Robinson is certainly not the Giants best wide receiver. But is worth mentioning the big one to monitor right now though is Andrew Thomas. He’s off the pup list. Giants. That means they’ve got hopes of him making it for the first four games at some point. Did not practice on Wednesday with a foot. We’ll see what his status looks like Thursday and Friday. I think at best he is questionable right now. He did not play in the week one game. Giants had to play James Hudson. He was not very good. I think to put it in perspective, I think Andrew Thomas is more important to the Giants team and respective side of the ball than Don Bland is to the Cowboys after the football. And I’m huge Bland fan. Thomas is is awesome. If he can’t go, that is a massive blow to the Giants. We will monitor that one for for certain. Uh other notes, Dexter Lawrence did not with a personal reason. So, he’s fine. He’ll be out there. No concerns. Uh the other linebacker who’s banged up for the Giants, Demetrius Flanigan Fos limbs with a calf should be fine to play. Um he’s kind of a backup, but the Giants again are kind of thin at the linebacker spot. And you know, is Zier Barnes going to be a practice squad call up? We’ll see. I also would not read into Malik Neighbors being limited with a back injury. There’s always the back, the calf, the foot. There’s always something with Malik Neighbors, but he’s always out there and is a damn good corner. I kind of like the Don Bland matchup on Neighbors more, but if again, if Bland can’t go, it probably means more Trayvon Diggs. That’s the guy the Giants are going to try to force feed as they pretty much always do. So, injuries to monitor to monitor throughout this week. [Music]
