Astros vs. Blue Jays Game Highlights (9/10/25) | MLB Highlights

The Astros and the Blue Jays play the middle game of a three game series Astros losing a tough one last night in extra innings. 4 to 3. They are still maintaining their spot in first place in the A L West, but things are tightening up with the Rangers winning again. Earlier today, they’re just two games back and the Mariners said a game back they play later on tonight. A big one for JoseBerríos. Berríos. He’s on seven days rest, three extra days of rest coming off a tough outing against Cincinnati in which he lasted only two innings. John Schneider though has been steadfast in saying they still believe in him. They have faith in him. He chops one to the left side. Ernie Clement it short again tonight and Mars retires the first batter he faces, here’s Jordan Alvarez, four consecutive hits in five, actually, four of his last five at bats. He grounded out his last at bat last night. So Jordan had three straight hits last night having himself a nice series here already. Four for 660 two strike three frozen with a fastball, went outside inside outside again all in the zone to strike out on three pitches, two down a runner at first and here’s christian Walker who was hitting sixth last night, but he’s in the cleanup spot tonight. 2 to 2 pitch swing and a miss strike three bounced out of the glove of Kurt Barrios picks it off to complete his own strikeout and end the top of the first inning right hander Jason Alexander on the mound for Houston Astros making his 15th overall. It will be his 10th start with the Astros. You see that 3.919 a with the Astros overall overall. 4.68. Er, a hit to right field sanchez back near the wall and he will jump up and make the catch on the wall. Sanchez played that pretty casually for a nice catch on the wall. Really did, didn’t he? I think that wall kind of surprised him a little bit. He did a good job of getting back and making that play two out. Nobody on for Vladimir Guerrero Jr swing and a mess struck him out on a slow change up. Guerrero goes down the first punch out for Alexander on the side is retired leadoff base runner for the Astros here in the second. Jake myers has done a great job hitting on the road this season. He comes in this game with a 356 average. Meanwhile, three and two and a swing and a miss to get myers for out number one, he worked him inside very effectively. So two outs, sanchez still at second and now it’s up to yer Diaz driven in five runs in his last three games. That ball hit well to right field sending Lucas all the way back. He’s looking up and it’s off the top of the wall. One run scores into second. He goes sliding with an RB, I double Astros take a 10 lead. Didn’t miss being a home run by much. You’ve got to be kidding me with where that hit. It was right where the wall down the right field line gets a little higher. 123 1st for Jason Alexander on 10 pitches faces Dalton Farha left handed hitting center fielder this one on the ground on two big hops ramon or will take his time and throw a strike another 32 pitch, low ball four great at bat by Barger very borderline pitch there, but he gets the benefit of the call from Brennan Miller and it is the blue Jays first base runner of the game. Certainly looked like it caught the bottom of the zone. Can the blue Jays take advantage of that break? Ernie Clement is the batter 2 to 1. The count on Clement and he lines it, it’s getting to the wall Barger on his way to third but he is going to be held on a line drive double by Ernie Clements done a great shot. That’s his 29th of the season. So Barger at third Clement at second two outs, one Astros and here’s Joey Lodo, the former Astro left handed hitting left fielder 3 to 2 bloops. It left side career racing in the foul territory makes the catch side retired Asher Jordan Alvarez, one for one today and four for six so far in the series that’s hit hard through the right side base hit, you know, Alvarez two for two. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to get the ball in the air. He had a double in the fifth inning, one of his three hits last night. And this is a pitch that runs out over the plate a little bit and look at be saying, ok, how did you get to that ball? So one on one out for Carlos Correa called out on strikes in the first for his second strikeout. Jason Alexander starts the third with a two outs. Now for Nathan Lucas. Here’s the one to pull to the right side, a ground ball hugging the ground, the second baseman has it and he throws out Lucas for the third out of the inning. So a 123 for Jason Alexander, Vladimir guerrero Junior, the first baseman will lead things off. Jason Alexander, a hard ground ball flagged down by Correa at third. Gets up and throws out Guerrero on a very tough second with a ton of backspin that was hit so hard and Then you throw in the tough hop, did a good job absorbing it going down to the ground to his left nicely done with two outs in the fourth. A lot of quick outs, Alejandro Kirk. The catcher is the batter off the end of the bat squibbed up the middle. There’s Pena cutting the infield throws him out and that’s the third out of the inning and there goes Jason Alexander back to the dugout 123 and the Astros go in order on three ground ball outs. A very nice inning for both the infield and Barrios on the mound and that will do it for the top of the fifth three ground outs generated by Jose Baros still 1 to 0. Houston Ernie Clement 2 to 2 and he’s on with one out the bottom of the fifth. Joe Lodo fouled out his first time up. There goes Clement, the 22 swing and a miss struck him out on a second. Is there in of time a strike him out, throw him out double play with Pen app. The tag on Clement side retired Json Alexander five scoreless innings. One out nobody on for Carlos Correa who was struck out and bounced into a double play that ball deep to left. Forget about it. Carlos Correa career home run number 200 makes it a two nothing Astros lead. That’s the 12th home run. Perez has surrendered in his last 12 starts. Number 200 off the fellow Puerto Rican off of the back wall of the blue Jays bullpen. And that will be the last pitch thrown by Jose Barrios tonight. A nice outing for him. Andresen starts off the home six with a single George Springer will bat on the ground to walker. He’ll go to second for one. Pena will go to Alexander covering and it Springer that was close. Alexander getting over there to be ready for the throw called save by Jeremy Rehak and we’ll see if the Astros challenge, they are going to challenge him. That is going to be close to the ball. It’s just a matter of the foot is on the bag. I think it looked like he was on the bag when he made the catch. I think that’s we just got a freeze frame where you can see the ball and Alexander’s glove with Springer’s left foot hovering over the base have to review the call in the field is overturned. The runner is out, looks like the right call. So it’s a 361 double play and there are two outs and nobody on to center. Jake myers tells Sanchez I’ve got it and he does for the final out of the in the summer of Alexander continues six scoreless innings, three hits a walk and three strikeouts. Jason Alexander back out there leading 20 over Toronto and it’s a ground ball hit weekly to Pena at shortstop. A little Crow Hawk and he gets guerrero by 2.5 steps. And this is the longest outing for Jason Alexander this season the first time this year, he’s got an out in the seventh inning for the Astros the pitch to and it’s a chopper backhanded by Pena at shortstop long throw and it’s dugout by Kristin walker at first base 123 for Jason Alexander who faced the minimum from the third through the seventh. The Astros have loaded the bases for jake myers. Myers has had a rough night. He struck out all three times. He’s come to the plate lefties one on the ground too short, backhanded Clement. He’ll go to the short way to second and after some stress, it’s still a scoreless inning for Blue Jays pitching. They strand the bases loaded on a hit and two walks. Jason Alexander, the starter out for Houston and into the game. Lefty stephen Oer who the Blue Jays saw yesterday infield hit for the pitch hitter. Isaiah FFA infield hit to start the eighth inning. Here’s Ernie Clement swing and a miss got him on a high fastball away. Clement is finally retired one away Ty France hitting for Joey Lofi lined off the end of the bat sinking in shallow right center and down for a base hit past Cam Smith stopping at second kiner. A long throw goes into third and it’s a bloop single for France and the Blue Jays preying a little bit on a rookie and smith who is a natural third baseman just switched to the outfield this year. Now it’s 1st and 2nd only one out in andres Jimenez. They leave him in to go left on base, hit to right field coming in to score straw racing around to third. Andres Jimenez delivers and the Blue Jays have their first run of the night. That will be the end of the night for Steven 02 outs in the bottom of the eighth. Runners at the corners which draw the tying run at third Lucas zero for three tonight. Lucas is hitting 316 with runners in scoring position, hit on the ground up the middle into center. Then the scoring tie, the game is strong. Nathan Lucas pass the dive of Ramona at second has tied it at two in the bottom of the eighth. And now Vladimir guerrero Junior comes to the plate with Jimenez. The go ahead run 90 ft away ground ball left side Pena to his right. He has it throws to first in time to retire the but the Blue Jays tie it on RB I singles by Jimenez and Lucas and pitch the 10th inning in last night’s game. He threw just 10 pitches in here to keep this game right where it’s at Diaz an RBI double in the second. He’s one for 31 away and that is Hammer to left and you can’t kiss that goodbye. That home run ball has been an issue for him all season long. Diaz puts the Astros up 3 to 2. Yr have yourself a series two RBS tonight. Had an RB I double last night in Abreu on the mound for the Astros for a second straight night. Here’s the guy that tied the game against him last night, Isaiah called third strike. He comes back and gets the save tonight. The Astros get a much needed win. Jer Diaz is the hero in this one for the Astros.

  1. Oh damn, I thought we were going to come back again.

Any of you stats guys out there, how many times this season have the Blue Jays made a comeback in the last two or three innings. They seem to just stroll along till the starting pitcher is replaced and then they explode. Tonight it just didn't happen.
    LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!!! 🎉❤ 🇨🇦

  2. How did the entire lineup of the Jays NOT KNOW they were going to get a steady diet of change-ups? They were ahead of those pitches all night long. Can't Stand yah is not even a GOOD pitcher!! If the Jays go .500 the rest of the way the Yanks have to win 13 of the last 17 and the Sox 12 of 15 to win the division.

  3. I love these snippets, but wish they'd show less of the first few innings where nothing happened and show more of the innings where something happened. For example, how did Houston have the bases loaded? Hopefully, someone with influence can make that change

  4. insanity = repeating the same thing over & over expecting different results. time to move on from Hoffman as closer. bro is a whole fkn opp. cannot be doing that during the postseason

  5. Agree with what the commentator Celab Joseph said, questioning certain pitch calls made during Hoffman's 9th inning miscue. How many games the Jays have lost due to home runs allowed the last two seasons? Catchers and coaches also have their part to play, not only the pitchers. They have to rethink about their mind game. It's not a coincident to be one of the worst teams in allowing HRs the last couple seasons.
