Very excited for him! I’m optimistic he will get coached up better than he ever has and will be the best version of himself in this system. He’s fast, he’s big, he’s not afraid to hit. Love it!
Personally convinced that he’s going to thrive in the Canes system. Obviously will have an adjustment period, but it seemed like too much of a coincidence that he struggled with gap control and rush defense the two seasons the rangers played a static 1-3-1 forecheck considering those are the two things that defensemen are put at a major disadvantage in with that system. Was also asked to carry his pair on both sides of the puck for a majority of his tenure and had the highest matchup difficulty as well. Going to play with a high end shutdown defender in Slavin or Chatfield and the drop 1-1-3 forecheck of the Canes will help him shore up his gap control and rush defense
I’m predicting that Miller will struggle this season, but he will have an awesome year 2. Many here will have terrible reactionary takes 2 months into this season about how he was a terrible acquisition only to eat their words after he puts everything together.
I would love to see him jump in and excel right away, but every defenseman acquired within RBA’s tenure so far has struggled in their 1st season. I think it’s unreasonable to expect differently for K’andre. It’s possible that he could be the exception. But I’m not going to put unrealistic expectations on him or trash talk whenever he makes a mistake.
Im excited for him but i also miss scotty so this trade pains me 🙁
