[Matt Derrick] Longtime Chiefs public address announcer Dale Carter announced today he’s stepping down from his role with the club immediately. His “third down” call will be missed by Chiefs fans. No immediate word on his replacement.

  1. I think the most shocking part of this statement is that even the stadium PA announcer has his own podcast lol

Definitely a memorable part of going to games. Big shoes to fill for whoever is next

  2. I wonder what the Chiefs possibly could’ve made him change that led to this. Did anyone who went to a playoff game notice some big difference in the way he did PA? I just can’t imagine what could possibly be a “red line” for a PA announcer.

Maybe they wanted him to say “Brought to you by Hy-Vee… It’s. Third. Down.”

  3. Does anyone have any insight as to the changes Dale was asked to make or what his “red line” might be?

  4. If the Hunts have anything to do with it they probably want him to throw some Jesus into the Third down announcement

  5. I’ve been going to most of the games for 15 years and last season going into playoffs, he made a change to how he was calling third downs. It was the game heading into playoff where it felt like all of a sudden he would say “alright Chiefs fans, let’s hear you. It’s third down” or “light em up Chiefs fans, its third down” which to me came across as pretty corny and unnatural. If it was the organization that was telling him to do this, they should have just let him be.
