Rockies vs. Padres Game Highlights (9/11/25) | MLB Highlights

Padres’s now three games back of the Dodgers in the NL West standings. Still in the thick of things while the Rockies are trying to avoid one of the worst records in modern MLB history. Tonight we welcome nine top performers as recognized by fire departments throughout the San Diego County. All smiles all the way around. On bound for the Padres’s is Randy Vasquez. 391 RA opponents hitting 254 coming off of a really good start against this Rocky team. One-two pitch guy down the left field line. Long run for Lauriano over towards the corner and he makes the catch right at the wall and it fouled Brown. He went a long way to make that catch. Lauraniano up in the air, caught the ball, slammed into the sidewall and what a play by Lauraniano. Out number two here in the first inning. Terrific play by Raone Lauraniano. An error and now a base hit as the Rockies try and make something happen with two outs. See if Ezekiel Tovar can provide the Rockies with an early lead. Swinging a miss and he struck him out of the sweeper gets out of the jam. Rockies don’t score. Padres are coming up and McCabe Brown needs some good to that confidence level. It’s been a rough first three. I think the thing that we’re not really used to seeing because this was nowhere in the scouting course or anything are the walks and the hit batters. Good curve ball and he strikes out to Tease to begin his evening. Kate needed this. Brown starts the night off by striking out Fernando Tatis. Good curve ball on the ground deep short. Tovar across his body and well done. Got the skip to stayed with it. It’s a one two3 beginning for McCabe Brown. First inning, the Rockies had a little rally with two outs, but couldn’t score. Brentton Doyle lead off this inning. That’s down the line. That’s a fair ball. And the Rockies will get a double out of this as Breton cruises into second with a lead off to Bagger in the second. Second hit for the Rockies. Their third base runner and a man in scoring position the second. Second one away and Keel and a swing and a miss. Nice pitch. Curveball. Second strike out to Randy Vesque. Two down. Good execution there on the curve ball. It wasn’t a question of if, it was just a question of which offspe pitch was he going to throw him. Comes back with a really well executed breaking ball down zone to get the punch out. Oh, two swing and a miss. Another K for Tia and another for Randy Vasquez. Backto back strikeouts in the second inning and he works around the lead double. One out, nobody on in the bottom of the third inning. For me, the number nine hitter waits the P line to right and in for a base hit for Freddy Fine. First hit of the ball game for the Padres’s comes from the number nine man. Tati struck out on the curve ball his first time up. He stands in with one down and the man at first. This will get away and for second base ace goes for me standing. Wow, that wasn’t even close. He yanked that one way over into the left hand batter’s box. Made Brown’s got to keep his composure here. Switch to Tatis. And another dandy. That’s a hard curveball, power curveball, however you want to describe it. That’s the third strike out from McCain. Gets Toddy out in front again and over the top for the punching. And we left up to Luis Rise as Padres’s trying to do something here with runners in scoring position. 0 for eight last night. Line in right field. A base hit. Here comes around. Padres’s take a one- nothing lead. Two out RBI single for Luis Arise. It’s a great at bat from Luis. Fouled off a couple pitches. Finally got something he can handle. And a little two out magic for the Padres’s here in the third. And the Padres’s have been 0 for 14 with runners in scoring position last two games. So a welcome sight there with the rise driving in that runner. So a good little bit of battle here between Randy Vasquez and Ezekiel Tobar. Has had a lot of success against Randy in his career, including three hits and three trips on Saturday. Swing and a foul tip into the catcher for strike three. Fourth strike out for Randy Vasquez today. And for the second time tonight, Vasquez gets the better of Tovart. Good execution on the fast ball upstairs. He’s doing a nice job of going in, out, and up and down tonight. Jesse to Doyle is on the outside corner. Strike three called and backto back Kand two. Top of the fourth inning. An opportunity for a quick inning here for McKay Brown. Very reasonable pitch counts in his first two innings, but the Padres’s worked him over 26 pitches in the third, but it is out number two. And now Jackson Merrill and Merrill in the air to left field. Beck is back. He’s on the track at the wall. Deck will watch. It’s going to go. Jackson Merrill opposite field home run. Two nothing Padres’s in the fourth inning as Merryill Madness makes its return to San Diego. Keep trying to go up top to expose Jackson and he made him pay. They want this up and in. It ends up up and away. And he goes oppo taco extension from number three Jackson Merrill. 60th pitch coming up here for Randy Vasquez. Randy worked his first one, two, three inning of the night in the fourth. Try and pick up right where he left off here in the fifth. Swing and a miss. And there it is. Strike out number six. Second out of the fifth inning. That time a curve ball from Vasquez. Perfectly executed. This has to be the most swings and misses that Vasquez has had. And no walks. Had no walks in his last start. Two two. swing and a miss. Seven strikeouts for Randy Vasquez. A new careerh high and another curve ball to get it done here against Tolia. His second hit of the night and a one out single here in the sixth inning. Rockies have the time run at the plate for Hunter Goodman who had a huge couple of days against the Padres’s last weekend. Here’s the 3-2. Runner goes, pitch a strike. The throw from Fine. The tag from Arise. He is out at second base. Mickey did to Matumbbo saying uh he wagged his finger. So that’s the eighth strike out for Vasquez able to strike out challenging the alcohol in second base and we’ll get a look. There were two missed attempts by Arise at a tag. Mickey got his foot down on the bag. If it stayed on the bag, this should get overturned. They call the field overturned. They’re under six. Colorado retains their challenge. New York said, “No, no, no, no, no, no. Not so fast. Right. Not so fast. So the stolen base for Moniac is seven. And with two outs, that’ll come up. A single and a ground ball to short. That strike three gets him looking. Backto back strike counts. Nine. Freezes back on the sinker. The lane changer. How fitting. A K to end the day. And a careerhigh nine for Randy Vasquez in six shutout innings. Jason Miller on the year 302 RA. Opponents hitting 157. He has been dominant out of the bullpen. John Q Fernandez to lead it off here for the Rocks. Swinging a miss. Elevated. Good morning, good afternoon, good night. All high fuzz for Mason Miller. 12th strike out for Padres’s pitching. Nine of them for Vasquez, two for Estrada, one so far for Miller. That strike three gets him looking. Back to the slider. Backto back K for Mason Miller. I said before, it does seem a bit unfair to have a slider that’s that good. 13 strikeouts in the game for Padres’s pitching. You’re wondering about the season high at 17ks. Sor will be first facing Mickey Moniac who is two for three. The rest of the Rocks are two for 25 in this game. It’s been tough sledding offensively for the Rockies. Scores will look to complete that. Strike him out. Out number one in the ninth inning. Padre’s pitching staff, bullpin in particular, killing the Rockies with that fast ball. Top of the zone. 14 strikeouts for Padres’s pitching tonight. Padres’s an out away from taking game one of this series against the Rockies. On the ground back to Suarez. He will go to first and that is the Padres’s win. Suarez a one, two, three, ninth inning as the Padres shut out the Rockies in game one of this four game series. Great pitching

  1. Glad it’s a win BUT…if the Padres offense doesn’t do any better than this, then when they get to the playoffs against real baseball teams they’ll be out very quickly. Is there anyone that can hit consistently at a major league level on this team? Merrill seems to be the only one digging in and fighting for this.
